OSX Yosemite Upgrade and Iphoto/Aperture

I recently upgrade to yosemite and after it upgraded my iphoto libraries (I mean all including my external hard drive backups of Iphoto and Aperture ) and used up an additional 190 G on my 500 G internal hard drive. It then upgraded my aperture software and charged me $80 even when it (OSX) said the upgrade (aperture) was free. Now there is only 19 Meg left on my hard drive and it will not boot? Any suggestions will be appreciated. I can't get anyone at apple on the phone about this. (I am not willing to wait on hold for over three hours every time I call. Is there a class action lawsuit against apple that I do not know about.)

  • Yosemite upgrade and iPhoto 8.1.2

I recently upgraded to Yosemite without realizing the implications to my very old version of iPhoto.  After reading up on the issue and what to do I realized the backup I did before upgrading did not go through.  I am at a loss as to what to do because I am without a backup for safety.  Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I do have another Macbook in the house with iPhoto 9.6.1 if that is any help

  • Yosemite upgrade lost iphoto access.

Yosemite upgrade lost  iphoto access.  Cloud says I cant import "library: because  I need 43 more GB  ?  I  had no  problem with iphoto in old version. Now I cant  even see photos to edit or delete.

Ive lost the iphoto icon , so  dont knnow how to access  all my photos stored there.  and yes, I would like to see what's on that "Photo" icon, but  it delivers  no photos. All I can get is a welcome page, + "get started"--which leads me to the message that they  cant import my library due to not enough GB...

  • Just upgraded and iPhoto said it has to upgrade library but keeps freezing. Have tried it too many times now and I need those photos ASAP  HELP!!

Just upgraded and iPhoto said it has to upgrade library but keeps freezing. Have tried it too many times now and I need those photos ASAP  HELP!!

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • HT5037 I installed the iphoto library upgrader and iphoto still will not open

I installed the iphoto library upgrader and iphoto still will not open. can anyone solve this?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • RAW Compatability between Nokia Lumia 1020 and iPhoto/Aperture

Here's the format the 1020 has for RAW.

  • Yosemite update and iphoto library

I Updated to yosemite 10.10.2 and iphoto requested that I upgrade my library. i was then cued to repair the library (which was hosted on an external hard drive). Now iphoto opens and it is linked to the correct library, but it says it is empty. The file is 300+ gb but no photos are appearing. I tried to repair permissions and I also downloaded iphoto library manager. Nothing has worked and I don't have a recent time machine backup to revert to. how do I save 5+ years of photos and videos?

That unfortunately is the result of a very nasty bug that has not been fixed by Apple - the best solution is to restore your backup from before it occurred but you have made the bad decision not to always have a current backup - there has been one post that reports to resolve this -  I have not tested it and can not vouch for it but here it is

  • OSX Yosemite upgrade

I need to upgrade to OSX Yosemite. The update is showing but mac appstore is not available in my country.I can tell this from the list of countries and regions. Is there an alternative?

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Boot Camp won't start after OSX Yosemite upgrade

Like so many others, I installed OSX Yosemite this morning and now Boot Camp no longer works.
After I updated to Yosemite I restarted my computer, held down  alt, and was presented nothing but a Macintosh HD. I followed “Loner T’s” instructions…
    ndiskutil list
    diskutil cs list
sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0
    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0
    Enter you password when prompted.
…and now a windows option is available during startup. However, when selected, all I get is a black screen with "A disk read error occurred" notice.

  • IPhoto Library 'disappeared' after Yosemite crash and iPhoto upgrade

I have upgraded my iMac to Yosemite and have been using iPhoto fine since then (although it is a bit slow),  yesterday iPhoto crashed the computer, after several restarts the computer was ok, but iPhoto wouldn't load and then said it needed to be upgraded - So I did this and when I opened this again it crashed then said that it needed to upgrade the library and then it crashed (iPhoto) when I restarted it started with no library and would appear to have overwritten the iPhoto (default) library, I have checked this and although there are other libraries, I am aware of these and these are not my missing library.  I found some information on http://www.scanyourentirelife.com/all-my-pictures-in-iphoto-disappeared-how-to-s afely-get-them-back/ and this talks about looking in the 'Masters' file but to be very careful as altering this will cause problems with edits etc.  Anyway I found that in my directory a file called 'Old Masters' as well as 'Masters' and it would appear that all of my pictures are now in 'Old Masters'.
So I am opening the right file but how do I make the 'Old Masters' the 'Masters' - is it as easy as shifting the files or changing the name on the file?
Tech Stuff - My iMac is running 10.10 Yosemite and is about 1 year old 27" version and I keep everything up to date (for my sins) - My library 700+ events and is about 176gb in size
    Your help would be appreciated

    Armelle,
there is unfortunately not yet any known way to repair an iPhoto Library, that got corrupted during the upgrade by a crash.
You can either restore your iPhoto library from the last backup you made before you tried to upgrade the library, and then try to upgrade again.
Or if your last backup cannot be restored or is too old, copy all photos you can find in the iPhoto Library package and import them into a new iPhoto Library.
but I can see my picture in "old Thumbnails".
The "Old Thumbnails" are only smaller sized versions of your photos. Don't you at least have "Old Originals" or "Old Modified"?

  • Yosemite upgrade okay, iPhoto and IMovie not ok

After updating App Store displays "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." when trying to get iPhoto or iMovie (which no longer work).  How to I fix my apps that worked fine on 10.6?

If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.

  • Since upgrade of iPhoto/Aperture

Since to uograde to "shared" libraries iPhoto opens but then appears to stall for ages.  Force quit says "not responding" but if left another few minutes it does then open.
    Any ideas please?
    Colin

OK. It seems that iPhone creates a new library after upgrade.  New symbols, etc.  So I guess the long delays were while this process is happening.
It would have been good if we had been warned!

  • Aperture no longer works with new osx Yosemite update

I installed new OSX Yosemite update and now it says that my Aperture App. will not work with this version. What can be done other than updating Aperture?

    Hi,
    It's a five step process
Call Apple Support for Software > Aperture
Answer questions at recorded message (have Aperture serial number ready – it is on a sticker on the back of the 'Installing Your Software' booklet) and you will be transferred to a real person.
Inform them of the issue and they will tell you that this is a known issue with certain users and they will request a 'Redemption Code' for the App Store for a standalone download of Aperture. The issue will be rectified in the next Yosemite release.
Wait for email from Support (they have to contact Support in California for redemption code, so depending on your time zone, there may be some delay).
Visit App Store, enter redemption code, and you are good to go.
    Hope this helps.
