Hi everyone, I have the Flex 2 Training from the source book
and I have misplaced the CD that it came with. I was wondering if
somebody out there would not mind to send me a copy of the files? I
know I messed up by loosing it but I just cant find it and Im stuck
on a lesson and need the source code. Please help...... thanks in
advanced.
CRI've progressed to Lesson 13 where the reported problem is
also happening. As i didn't keep the files for Lesson 9 this will
have to do. There are 5 files that show up as different in the SCR
folder in my code vs the COMPLETE folder of Lesson 13. All of the
differences seem to be cosmetic &/or style in nature so I have
no Idea what is going on. Note: the comment lines are just added in
this message so you can tell one file from another. -
Hi all,
Moderators please move the post to correct forum if I wrongly posted it here.
I am from chennai, India and want to be adobe certified trainer. Unfortunately I dont find any ctt+ training center here in chennai. I dont own any microsoft certification so I am not able to go with MCT.
Being in chennai what are the other options I have to be a certified trainer. Or is there any ctt+ training centers in chennai.
Kindly advice.
Thanks in advanceHi Elam,
Glad to see someone interested in becoming a trainer on Flex.
I am a CompTIA CTT+ certified trainer and also my company is a CompTIA and Adobe Authorized training partner.
I can help you with both CompTIA and Flex certification which will eventually lead to you becoming a ACI.
You can get in touch with me on himanshu[at]teknopoint.in
Hope this helps,
Thanks and Regards,

Flex: Method doesn't work when being called on parentDocument
Hi,
I wonder is anyone can look at this code and tell me why calling the removeSelectedChild works when called from the same document, but returns the following error when called from the child document/component.
"ArgumentError: Error #2025: The supplied DisplayObject must be a child of the caller."
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" >
<mx:Accordion id="myAccordion"
width="100%" height="100%"
selectedIndex="0">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
public function removeSelectedChild():void {
myAccordion.removeChild(myAccordion.selectedChild);
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:headerRenderer>
<mx:Component>
<mx:Button click="{ parentDocument.removeSelectedChild() }" />
</mx:Component>
</mx:headerRenderer>
<mx:HBox>
<mx:Button click="{ removeSelectedChild() }" />
</mx:HBox>
</mx:Accordion>
</mx:Application>
Clicking on the button in the child produces the expected result, whilst clicking on the header throws an error despite the fact they both call exactly the same method.
Sorry that the example is a little contrived, this problem arose in a quite complicated view, which was using all kinds of custom components. This was the only way I could display it in a way that will be quick for you to compile and easy to focus on the real issue without background noise.
I'm pulling my hair out on this one and would really appreciate it if anyone could help.
Cheers,
ChrisWhat are you trying to remove?
myAccordion.removeChild(myAccordion.selectedChild);
tries to remove the container, which is the child of the Accordion. Is that what you want?
Also, I'm wondering if parentDocument.removeSelectedChild() would try to remove the Accordion.

Looking for Trainee in Flex Builder 3.0
There is a urgent need of Flex Trainer in Flex Builder 3.0
If, any you can call me to this no 0124-4277826
Or mail to [email protected]Thanks Daniel,
I finally figured out how to send the arguments to the Webservice operation. And as you said, it looks much easier when i'm using the actionscript classes. The application is working fine when i'm Running the application right from the Flex Builder. But when i Build the relase and create a AIR application and install it. It does not seem to work. I guess i'm missing how to send in the userid and password to the webservice.
So, basically, as soon as the application is launched, i'd like for the Userid and Password Prompt to popup.
Can you please advice on how to get this working.
Thanks again,

Comparisons on Flex MVC Frameworks
Hi,
I have been doing a comparison Cairngorm, Swiz, Mate, and PureMVC. I plan on presenting my analysis to the developers at my company and my blog. Before I do so, I want to reach out to the maintainers of each project for comments. I feel offering to do so would be the more fair thing to do.
However, I'm not sure what's the best way to send my analysis and example applications to the maintainers of this project. I feel that posting my analysis on this forum is inappropriate at this time. What would be the best way to get in touch with the maintainers of the Cairngorm project?Thank you for your quick reply, Alex. Since my post yesterday, I came across quite a few comprisons (not an exhaustive list of what I had to read through...):
http://www.insideria.com/2008/12/frameworkquest-2008-introducti.html
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/37043/flex-mvc-frameworks
http://www.flexpasta.com/index.php/2009/07/16/mate-framework-should-it-be-the-new-standard -in-flex-4/
http://www.summa-tech.com/blog/2009/01/14/selecting-the-right-flex-application-framework/
http://www.summa-tech.com/blog/2009/02/27/the-flex-application-frameworks-smackdown-sorta/
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/flex_framework.html
http://tv.adobe.com/watch/360flex-conference/mate-flex-framework-by-laura-arguello/
Because I'm looking for a non-intrusive (or loosely coupled) framework with a gentle learning curve (so that my company's current Oracle Forms developers won't immediately reject it), I'm tempted to try out Mate. And because the framework doesn't interfere with views, business logic and server access, it seems that I'll more easily be able to back out and try another one if I find out I made a mistake (something that's tougher to do with Cairngorm or PureMVC). -

Blog post: Compiling a C library to run in Flex/Flash
If you are stuck with getting out of the starting blocks with porting a C library using Alchemy, this might help:
http://ccgi.codegadget.plus.com/blog/2010/04/03/alchemy-c-library-1/
especially if you are getting Undefined sym: _ errors. The old forum post from danieljmitchell here http://forums.adobe.com/thread/439568?tstart=120 put me onto the right track. Hopefully it'll be useful to someone.If you simply moved the content of the release build folder somewhere else on your local machine, you might need to set the --use-network=false compiler option.
Project - Properties - Flex Compiler
add --use-network=false to the "Additional compiler arguments:" section.
When deploying to a live server you probably have to recompile with --use-network=true.

When i try to run a project i get this error:
there is no disk in the drive please insert a disk into drive
\device\harddisk1\DR3
It has JavaW.exe as the application name.
How do i fix this?I would try this:
continentArray = new ArrayCollection(event.result as Array);
And if that does not work then ensure event.result is not just a string.
