  • Why I upload com.sap.portal.usermanagement.admin.par,Portal can't modify?

    Hi,
I change jsp in com.sap.portal.usermanagement.admin.par ,then upload it to PCD,but the portal can't change?
    what can i do?
    Thanks.

Login with System Admin user and then Goto
System Admin---> Support --> Portal Runtime --> Admin Console
Now you have to clean the existing Add with the name
    com.sap.portal.usermanagement.admin.par
if you come down to Admin Console you can find all the Par App by DropDown Box
select the com.sap.portal.usermanagement.admin.par and clean it
Now upload you updated com.sap.portal.usermanagement.admin.par to Pcd
    Thanks,
    Sreeni.

  • EP5.0 Custom .par File Does Not Work in EP6.0 SP2

I have a .par file called CustomerSearch.par that is used in EP5.0, and I am now trying to get this .par file to work in EP6.0 SP2.  I noticed the directory structure changes, so my .par structure is this:
    CustomerSearch.par
    -->  portal-inf
    portalapp.xml
    lib
    CustomerSearch.jar
    TableViewExample.class
    pagelet
    TableView.jsp
I am getting the following error in the portal console logs when I try to access the component after I have uploaded the CustomerSearch.par file.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Bernhard,
nice to hear that we resolve the problem
    > Karstens answer solved my base problem,
    > Detlevs answer lead into the right direction.
Not that I've that need for points...
It's just the question why my answer (if you follow the link, my answer was: delete two lines, from which one is essential to be deleted) only "lead into the right direction"... In fact, it solved the base problem, I would claim for me
To give the technical background: If your write
    <property name="ComponentType" value="jspnative"/>
the portal runtime expects a component consisting of a native JSP; the second directive -
    <property name="JSP" value="pagelet/InitialPage.jsp"/>
    - for this case tells where to find this JSP. So if you delete the first line, <i>at least</i> the second line has no sense anymore. To clean up such a portalapp.xml, it just makes sense also to delete the second line.

  • What's the right way to start up with Portal's dev?

    Hi to all Portals experts,
I am really struggling to start up learning Portals and more specific their development. Here is the problem - I am a bit new in the NetWeaver  but not new in J2EE environment. I went trough all WebDynpro tutorials and really the documentation was written nice.Good hands-on approach with lots of examples and that is what I found with WebDynpro - everything well explained step by step.
But when I started the Portal’s Tutorials I was  a bit disappointed.
1.First of all, there is no explanation which tools one needs to start up with Portal Dev?
I only have  SAP Netweaver Development Studio SP15 installed on my PC and I don’t have any access to R/3, CRM or other system. Is this enough to at least start to learn Portal Development or not?
    2. I realize well that at some point I will need real system to play with but , until than what useful practice I can do on my own and how?
    - Even within the WebDynpro tutorial , the very first Part :’ Define a system’ - (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cb/f4bc3d42f46c33e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm) -‘In the portal, navigate to System Administration - System Configuration - System Landscape’
Which Portal ? I don’t have System Administration on my NWDS SP15?Is is something I should install?unclear?
    3. My understanding is that NWDS SP15 contains EP , within its J2EE local engine , but is this EP.6.0, is this enough to develop complete Portal Application A-Z or not - unclear ?
    4.  PDK. Somewhere I read that Portal Application can be developed with either WebDynpro or with PDK. I’ve read about PDK but It is not clear if  it is Dev Kit as its name says , should it be downloaded , installed or imported into NWDS, again? And bottom line do I need PDK as a  Portal Developer, and at which point?
I only need the starting point for Portal Develop. or some guide that should set milestones 1st ,2nd .. I would prefer the hands-on approach. If some of you  has already taken this path and can help me with your directions, links, at least how to get started, I will highly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!Regards, Bob

    Hi Bob,
The below reply is as per my experience with Development so far:
1> It is not necessary to have access to R/3 or any other SAP/non SAP application unless you are writing an application in connection to them.
Example: An application which is reading data from R/3 and displaying the same in a table. Yes, in this scenario you would require access to R/3.
2> System Administration is a role just like Home, User Administration, etc in Portal itself.
It contains all the configuration related to System Landscape, Knowledge Menegement, etc
If in case you have not been given this role, you may ask your System Administrator to create the required system (PCD Object). You may then use this system from your Profile (Personalize Portal) link directly.
3> NWDS resides over Portal so you may create your own standalone application or application thats talking to the underlying Portal.
WebDynpro is used to create UI & likewise you may build Web applications or EJB applications.
4> PDK stands for Portal Development Kit. YUou may ask your administrator to download and assign the same to you. This would appear as a "Java Developer" named role in your portal. It contains all APIs required for Java development.
If you do nto have this, you may still use the Javadocs provided on SDN itself.
Depending what custom developmetn you do, depending upon the type the .par (portal archieve), .ear (Enterprise archieve), .war (web archieve) needs to be deployed in portal, so that users may access/view the custom created data.
    Hope this helps
    All the best!
    Warm Regards,
    Ritu

  • How to add Hindi language in Portal

    Hi,
Can someone tell me how I can have Hindi language in Portal.
For this I have gone through some forums, but didn't get the perfect answer.
For this what I had done is as follows :
    1. Export the com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par.bak file.
    2. Change it to com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par
    3. I drilled down into it as com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par\PORTAL-INF\config and there I find availableLocales.properties and in this I have added <b>hi</b> in the last line i.e. below <b>zh_TW</b>
4 Also exported wizard_language_resources_en.properties from as com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par\PORTAL-INF\private\classes and renamed it to wizard_language_resources_hi.properties and add it to the same path i.e. com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par\PORTAL-INF\private\classes
    5. Again I deployed back the com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par par file to Server and restarted the Server.
But still Hindi hasn't come in the drop-down list for languages in Portal
Can someone help me on this.
    Regards,
    Deep

    Hi,
You said that Hindi conversion for Welcome is working in Masthead! and you also say after applying note 624929 and setting user language as hindi Welcome message is not shown in hindi. Here these both statements are contradicting.
As the lookup for resource bundle, is done from user language and when no language specific resource bundle found will show English as it is default.
If you still have problems here, tell me more what you did. Like the extensions of your properties files and the language settings of your portal.
To know how the lookup of resource bundle happens:

  • Difference b/w PAR & JAR Files

    hi,
i m new to enterprise portal(EP),what is a use of PAR file in portal appl , what is the difference b/w PAR & JAR files, why cant we can use JAR file.
    thank in advance naresh

    Hi,
In computing, a JAR file (or Java ARchive) is used for aggregating many files into one. It is generally used to distribute Java classes and associated metadata.
    1) WAR (file format) (Web Application aRchive) files are also Java archives which store XML files, java classes, Java Server Pages and other objects for Web Applications.
    2) RAR (Resource Adapter aRchive) files, not to be confused with the RAR (file format), are also Java archives which store XML files, java classes and other objects for J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA) applications.
3)EAR (file format) (Enterprise ARchive) files are composite Java archives which combine XML files, java classes and other objects including JAR, WAR and RAR Java archive files for Enterprise Applications.
JAR files can be created and extracted using the "jar" command that comes with the JDK. It can be done using zip tools, but as WinZip has a habit of renaming all-uppercase directories and files in lower case, this can raise support calls with whoever created the JAR or the tool authors themselves. WinRAR, on the other hand, retains the original case of filenames.
A JAR file has an optional manifest file located in the path META-INF/MANIFEST.MF. The entries in the manifest file determine how the JAR file will be used. JAR files which are intended to be executed as standalone programs will have one of their classes specified as the "main" class. The manifest file would have an entry such as
Portal applications are packaged in PAR (Portal Archive) files. A PAR file is a standard ZIP file with a .par extension that contains a deployment descriptor, all Java classes, Web resources and other files required to run the application.
Within the portal, the name of the PAR file is the name of the application. The fully qualified name of any component or service defined in the PAR is the name of the PAR file, followed by a period (.) and then the name of the component or service.
A PAR file contains the following files:
The following files are contained files contained in a PAR file are divided into the following types:
    &#9679;     Web resources
All files in a PAR file that are accessible directly via an HTTP request, such as:
    &#9675;     HTML
    &#9675;     Images
    &#9675;     Stylesheets (.css)
Web resource files can be located anywhere outside the top-level PORTAL-INF and META-INF folders.
You can create links to these files directly. For more information, see Creating URLs to Web Resources.
    ·        Java Classes and Deployment Descriptor
Java classes that implement the component and services defined in the PAR file, plus the deployment descriptor (portalapp.xml). The deployment descriptor specifies the components and services contained in the PAR file, and defines the configuration for the application, components and services. For more information the deployment descriptor, see Deployment Descriptor (portalapp.xml).
The PAR file’s Java classes and deployment descriptor are located in the top-level PORTAL&#8209;INF folder
    ·        Manifest
A PAR can also include a manifest file (MANIFEST.MF in the top-level META-INF folder), which provides version information. The folder and file are not required, but are recommended for tracking versions of your application.
in enterprise portal we use mainly EAR as jar files.
to import EAR files you need to follow this steps
    goto
system administration -> Transport -> Transport Packages -> import -> choose client or server on your convinence and browse to this file and press upload and then after uploading press import
for PAR files you need to follow this steps
    goto
system administration -> support -> Support Desk -> in Top Level Areas selcet portal runtime -> in "Portal Anywhere" Admin Tools select Administration Console -> in Upload Archive Specify a Portal Archive (PAR) file and choose 'Upload' to store the PAR in the PCD-> browse the file and press upload.

  • EPT and PAR Files

    Hi all,
While importing business package we import ept files for the iviews (along with roles, worksets, pages etc.) and the par files for iviews also. But we can make iviews of the par files in portal also. So what is the significance of the ept files? Does every iview has a ept and par file associated with it? So how the iviews are constructed out of ept and par files?
Points will be awarded for helpful answers.
    Regards,
    Jaydeep

    Hi Jaydeep
    >><b>While importing business package we import ept files for the iviews</b>
Business Packages, as you must be aware are bundles of portal content objects, such as iViews, Pages, etc. They are either shipped as ZIP files or EPA (Enterprise Portal Archive)files.
    >><b>we can make iviews of the par files in portal also
    </b>
Portal applications are packaged into PAR (Portal Archives). It contains all Java classes, Web resources and other files required to run the application. The advantage of creating iViews from PAR files is that the .PAR files contain all the required information about your application. Please follow the link below for details.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/bb/1bb8428e05c86ae10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    >><b>what is the significance of the ept files?</b>
EPA files aid in the transport of portal content objects across various machines which run Portal, which means they rid you of the burden of having to create the objects all over on the new Portal. EPT (Enterprise Portal Transport)files contain the content objects in an EPA file. Please go through the link.

  • Portal custom files/pages

We are implementing a portal application on sap portal system that has just the ep-core piece (no kmc). We are now required to put some custom thml pages on this server, can someone suggest a location on the portal server on where to put these files. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mike,
The HTML pages cannot be made to run directly in portal. Instead we need to create applications, which are called as portal components or services. The portal developement is done in NetWeaver Developer Studio environment where the applications are created and deployed into the portal server. While deploying the developed application is archived as .par (Portal Archieve).
The SAP WAS Documentation under Help of NWDS will give you more explanation of portal developments.
Please look into the below link, which will be a starting point for portal developments.

if you have deployed portal content for mdm, you should get it. have you checked uwl administration at portal side?

  • IViews always grabbing the top of the page

    Hi everyone,
We are in development of a portal (version 7.0) witch gonna be fully "look and feel" customized. We've created a Desktop, which references our Layout and the main page. In this Page we gonna have 3 basic areas: Header, Content and Footer.
    Problem:
On this Page the IViews added are always gripping at the top of the browser. The footer is grabbing the top of the page, as the content area is having the same behavior.
Our layout on the main Page props are defined with one single column, and the IViews are in the correct sequence (header, content, footer), and each IView reference an single .PAR portal object. We've tried already the Double T layout, but didnt work. In our search for properties on the IViews static height size and other options didnt solve this behavior.
What can be done to have the IViews configured to do not "override" each other?
    Thanks!

Thanks Raghu for the information. I was able to create my own page layout with the following NW documentation:
[Creating Custom Layouts - Sap NetWeaver 7.0.|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/42/efbac120711a71e10000000a422035/frameset.htm]
I am opening another thread relating a new problem problem, cause the IViews assigned to my custom layout are not appearing (page becomes blank).
    Thanks!

  • Help in importing WebDynpro application to NWDS.

    Hi,
I need to customise an iview. These are the information i have -
    1.  platform of this ivew is WDJ.
    2. got codelink of the iview -com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.webdynpro
    3. got the corresponding par file.
    4. In the business package document, it says a folder name as the data source of this iview. i traced the folder of it.
now how do i move forward?
    1. When i imported the par file, it opened in the package explorer as a portal application project, but could not find any source code. How do i open it in WebDynpro perspective?
    2. how do i import all these (data source + par file) into NWDS so that i can view the code in the WebDynpro perspective...
I am already tired of searching the entire SDN.  Can some one help out to explain the steps in simple terms for me to move forward. I am in the process of learning this (portal customisation through WebDynpro Java).. kindly help :).
I am just trying out in the test system.hence decided not to use JDI.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Anto.

    Hi Antony,
As you mentioned WebDynpro application then there should be .EAR file not .PAR
and the procedure i gave you earlier is not applicable for .PAR (Portal Archieve)
for this please follow the following method.
if you want to test the application directly, login in to the portal and navigate to system administrator -> support -> portal runtime -> administration console and import the .par file and then create a new iview in portal content and select par file name and you can see the application.
if you want to see the code, import the .par file in EP Perspective and if it is a JSP Dynpro application, you can find the code in <b>\dist\PORTAL-INF\pagelet</b> folder.
Also <b>you can not see the PAR in WebDynpro perspective</b> you can only open it in EP Perspective.
hope now i got the right procedure for you. As per your Subject line, i quickly posted you the procedure to import webdynpro application to NWDS but in your case you are dealing with portal project.

  • Choising the right CCMS context for monitoring CRM j2ee part

    Hi experts,
I am setting up the system monitoring for a double-stack CRM system (SID=D40). It works well for ABAP part.
For j2ee part, I need first to choose the right CCMS context. There is a lot of available CCMS contexts. One is related to the j2ee part of my CRM : GRMG:J2EE D40 on srv20180.
Choosing it, it gives some users defined alerts. This seems to be fine. But, in the J2EE Server Table Alerts, the following alerts are not running (alert status is not accessible):
    System Heartbeat of Dispatcher One
    System Heartbeat of Server One
Somebody can explain what it happens ?
Could you also tell me if the CCMS context I choose is correct ?
    Daniel

    Hi Bob,
The below reply is as per my experience with Development so far:
    Warm Regards,
    Ritu

  • How to implement iview by EP6 or Netweaver???

    Hello,
I am new to SAP, so please forgive me for the stupid question...
Does iview be implemented by EP6 or Netweaver???
Any step-by-step documents or tutorials for me to study????
Thanks in advance & Best Regards
    Tony

    Hi,
Do you mean you want to create your own iview?
If yes, you create an Portal Application using NetWeaver Developer Studio or Eclipse(provided you have imported the PDK). Create a PAR(Portal Archive) file out of it.
Then create an iview using that PAR file and you can then use it in your portal.
You can also look into iviewstudio.com to know more about how to create iviews.
    Does that answer your question?
Mark it closed if that helps you to solve your problem.
