Critica Web con ética
http://parrillamonegros.com

mi no me gusta
terminaciones me
sirva...
Abrazo,
Ale Photoshop

  • Web / EDI Integration

    Dear friends
    How are you?
I am developing a high volume, mission critical Web "B2B" Application for Customer
Relationship Management (CRM) on OS - WindowsNT and database - MS SQL 2000 Enterprise.
Future needs include integration with EDI Systems (GentranServerNT, Harbinger
    TLE, GEIS, etc.).
Can I request you to please share all relevant information and experience on this
    topic?
    Thanking you
    Sriram (Ram) Peddibhotla

well, anything between 8 and 88 will do.

  • A question for the group; 9i or 10g?

If you were to move an older application from 9i (Release 1) on a Windows NT machine to a LINUX machine with a new install of the Application Server, would you install 9iR2 or 10g? Is 10g ready for "Prime-Time?" (Or, in our case, a slot on an obscure cable network?)
I would like to skip 9iR2 on this platform for two reasons: I want to move to the 10g as soon as practical, so why go through 9iR2. And looking at this forum, 10g appears to be much easier to install (and configure and manage?).
10g has been certified for my RedHat platform, although it is not yet available. I would like to just download 10g from OTN and start doing the conversion/testing using that, expecting the official release to be available soon. I would normally wait for a point-release before moving to a new platform for production. However, since I am only using basic features of my current version, a move directly to 10g seems feasible. (And relatively low-risk?)
The application that has to move is an app that was built years ago using exclusively PL/SQL and the old Oracle Web Application Server. It has changed somewhat, but is still essentially a PL/SQL app. It must keep running, so I can't have too fragile an environment.
So what would you recommend, and why? What are the prime considerations for staying or moving.?
    I'd appreciate your thoughts.

    Hi,
For web application using PL/SQL and the old Oracle Application Server, it doesn't make a lot of difference between 9iASR2 and 10g. Last year we migrated one of our critical web application from OAS to 9iASR2 with no change of code. The new system is actually much more stable with less system crash.
I would still recommend to migrate directly to 10g and skip 9iASR2.
The reason is 10g(9.0.4) is really a maintenance version of 9iASR2(9.0.2) with all the required bug fix and some new features. We have been trying to migrate some applications to 9iASR2 for more than 1 year now but some technical issue stopped the production implementation. We are currently waiting for the 10g Windows version or we may try out the Linux version.
There is a lot of good feedback related to 10g.
    Regards.
    Wade.

  • Help me choose a new Mac! PLEASE....

I switched to the Macintosh back on Jan. 2nd, 2005 with the original iMac G5. Then I moved to Mac OS X Tiger when it came out and have been obsessed with the Mac operating system ever since. I am one of those people who run Quicksilver and have 15 icons next to there clock.
Currently I have the Intel Core Duo mac mini (1.66GHz) and am happy except... I need hard drive space and dedicated graphics! I do film and fell in love with Motion a few months back but am unable to run it. I want to know if I should stay with the mini, save for a Mac Pro, move to the PowerMac G5, or what ever.
My only objective of moving back to PowerPC is speed and old, and well I use Parallels. What is everyone's opinions?
PS: I have a 20 inch cinema display so any iMac is out of the option. WHY WON'T APPLE MAKE A MAC PRO FOR $1,499!!!!!

Anyone in this situation really needs to consider not just what their needs are at the present time, but also what interests may develop in the period of time the system being bought is likely to remain in active service.
For most people, the question wouldn't be all that critical - web browsing is web browsing, and a bit of Word, email, a library of music in iTunes, a few amateur video projects maybe in iMovie.... those are not really demanding on systems and any Mac capable of supporting those uses is likely to be fine for a few years.
But for users with an interest in the pro-level applications, the chances are that they will be pushing their systems quite hard, and be looking at new versions of the applications and new software titles for specialist uses over time, so unless these potential additional demands are taken into account at the time a purchasing decision is being made, there's a real risk that the system bought will run out of steam rather faster than it runs out of viable life.
In this particular example, it makes no sense at all to buy a G5 system, even though in themselves the G5 power macs are very powerful. Pro-level software into the future will be increasingly designed to make more and more effective use of Intel hardware, so G5 technology will be a limiting factor into the future. That makes the Mac pro the only real option and even if the 20" cinema display wasn't already owned, the expansion options in the Mac Pro make it the obvious choice over and above an iMac or MacBook Pro.
And to the OP.... wait long enough and the first generation of Mac Pros will eventually reach $1,499 in the refurb store. Might take a while though!

  • How to invalidate a session explicitly when a browser is closed

    hi,
i am keeping the information of a logged user when he logs succesfully in a session. the session time is maintained for half an hour.
i am also storing his information in an application object.
when a user logs out i am invalidating the session and his information is removed from the application object .
when a person is logged and another person at other place stries to log in with the same username and password, i am making use of this application object to check whether the anyone is looged in with that user id or not. if the id aleady exists in the application object i will not allow the second person to log in and i will provide with a relavent mesasge " already logged in with this ID".
But the problem is arising when a person loogs in and closes the browser (wth out looging in).
in this case the session is not invalidated and his information remains in the session and application object.
when he tries to loog in immediatly after closing the browser, the same checking is done for the duplicate log in and a message is displayed to him saying that " already logged in with this ID".
he has to wait till the session expires (i,e till 30 min) and then log in
As this creates problem, i want to invalidate the session the time when the browser is closed.
i tried with the onUnLoad() methos in javascript, but that method is not only called when closing the browser but also when a link is clicked ot when refreshed the page.
i am trying with Cookies but i am not gettin ga good approach as how to go forward with this problem.
Any body who can solve this please....reply soon or mail me
    Its very Urgent................
    Thanks

2.Any business critical web site should not allow
    multiple users to
work under same account at same time. Not true. My customer's web site is "business critical" and they explicitly wanted to be able to login multiple times with the same ID. At least in this scenario we completely circumvent your problem.
The Javascript solution will never be 100%. What happens if their internet connection drops and doesn't come back? Suppose their OS crashes? What if their power goes out? What if IE crashes? What if JS is turned off? What if the user just walks away and leaves the browser open forever?
You may be trying to get too much control, which on the web always leads to failure. Maybe a better alternative would be to warn the user that is logging in the second time that there is an outstanding login and that the previous user will be logged out if he proceeds. Then, keep a record of the event in case someone is messing with other accounts (although, since he obviously knows the username and password it is probably a user concern.)

  • Can't get Firefox to "downgrade" Java JRE version

I recently allowed the Java updater to update my Java JRE from 1.6.x to 1.7.x. However I have a critical web site that will not run the applet unless it sees a 1.6x "only" JRE. (yes, it is a dumb site) . Anyway, I removed the 1.7 version, and re-installed 1.6 but Firefox still shows the 1.7 version in my add-ons and I can't remove the references or get them to update to 1.6x.
I still can't get the web site to launch the applet that I need from FF because it thinks I am not running 1.6x. I am NOT having this problem using IE8.. it seems to have downgraded just fine.

You can see the installed plugins that are enabled on the about:plugins page.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aplugins
You can set the plugin.expose_full_path pref to true on the about:config page to see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.<br />
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.

  • DreamColor Monitor from PC via VGA: Color-Space & Settings?

    Context:
Premiere CC on a WIndows 7 laptop with an external DreamColor monitor connected via VGA port (for convenience rather than bit depth).
What color space is appropriate in the DreamColor settings, i.e. what is the VGA likely to be supplying?   DreamColor's config options are: [ Full | AdobeRGB | Rec.601 | sRGB | Rec.709 | DCI P3 Emulation ].  I'm guessing sRGB, but is that reasonable e.g. is it the Adobe kind?

Several questions spring to mind ... first, are you calibrating this with an actual "real" calibration tool, such as the i1Display units, anything? Because ... if the answer is no ... well, the output isn't set to any particular "there" before you even start, is it?
Next ... what are you going to be outputting for? B-cast TV? Critical web use? Your own YouTube/Vimeo channel for the heck of it? Family records? Whatever is going to be the "heaviest" output (meaning demands on color space) sets the minimum from what your choices can offer. Critical web work or such, you would either want the Adobe RGB or the Rec.709 I would think. For just fun stuff, the sRGB would work ok.
Fwiw ... Adobe RGB is a wider color space than "standard" sRGB. Rec.601 & Rec.709 are "broadcast" standards that include specialized base/gain/gamma settings. Rec.709 is the newer and far more common one of the two ... and it sets "black" as at value (in 8-bit terms) of 16 and "white" at 235. Data outside those values are used for technical purposes within the "system". Some modern video cams record in Rec.709, btw.

  • SAP Bank Communication Manager without PI

    Hello!
We are currently implementing and configuring SAP BCM in our system and we are starting to reach the point where messages are being sent from BCM to bank. Every single piece of documentation we've been able to find points to the necessity of PI, but we are trying to avoid the use of PI altogether.
In our system we have a legacy web server that hosts several critical web services and we hoped we could use this web server to create another service that would receive payment medium files and then forward them to bank. How could we achieve this? Configuring custom destinations for BCM wasn't part of any documentation we could find. Can our wish be fulfilled at all?
Additionally, if we want to send these payment medium files to our web service then we have to wrap then in some kind of SOAP envelope. Is there a place (enhancement spot) where we could modify this payment medium before it is sent from BCM?
    Thank you for your help.

Looks as if noone has experience with this kind of BCM implementation. Or another option is that it just can not be done.

  • How to reduce prompting for "Master password"

I hope there may be a setting to address this issue...
I have a number of passwords saved for various non critical web sites such as this forum. Recently I set a "master password" to protect my saved passwords. Whenever I open a page which has text boxes for credentials which I have saved I am prompted for the master password regardless of whether I wish to authenticate to the site or not. I would like to configure Firefox to only open the saved passwords repository (for want of a batter word) when I choose to authenticate to a site.
    Is this possible?
    TIA,
    Ken
p.s. I close Firefox (to flush cookies etc.) OFTEN so simply unlocking the saved passwords once a day and leaving Firefox running is not an answer.

Open the PrefBar Customize window via the right-click context menu of the PrefBar.<br />
Create a new pref check via the right-click context menu of the right pane: New > Pref Check
Enter an ID (e.g. chk_rememberSignons) and a label that appears on the PrefBar and put in the Prefstring field <b>signon.rememberSignons</b> to specify which pref is affected.<br />
Put <b>value</b> in the toPref and fromPref fields, that will toggle the pref between true and false and show a check-mark with the true value.<br />
You can assign a hotkey to that pref if you want to toggle the pref with the keyboard.<br />
That still works if you want to hide the PrefBar with F8 to get more screen space.
I color the check boxes with code in userChrome.css to make it easier to spot that I've changed some of them
The customization files userChrome.css (interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the chrome folder in the user profile folder.

  • 9i or 10g application running with JAWS - activating List Boxes

The keyboard shortcut for activating List Boxes in a Web environment (either 9i or 10G) is to use ALT+DOWNARROW key. THis works absolutely fine when running without JAWS screen reader, but as soon as JAWS is loaded then ALT+DOWNARROW does nothing -- this seems to render any FORMS application inaccessible. I cannot believe that this is the case, given Oracle's position regarding section 508 / accesibility etc. Has anyone come accross this problem before, any ideas??

  • Does OAM is single point of failure ?

    Hi Adam
I have a serious a doubt about OAM implementation...
What is the best practice for OAM implementation and fall back plans for those critical web application integration ?
Once the web applications was integrated with OAM, the login traffic will always redirect to OAM for authentication and authorization...
But once OAM is down, all the critical applications are down !!
So, from customer point of view, OAM seems like single point of failure..
Do you have any brilliant ideas on this ?

I think we'll have to leave it at that, because "Application Server",
despite a bevy of definitions is still not well-defined. When someone
says they need a "Java App Server", I ask if a "Web App Server" is enough
or if they need all the EJB stuff as well.
In the end, I'd let the Tomcat website speak for itself: http://tomcat.apache.org/

Apache Tomcat is the servlet container that is used in the official Reference Implementation for the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies.
Apache Tomcat powers numerous large-scale, mission-critical web applications across a diverse range of industries and organizations.
