[OT?][HELP] Managed Server dropped from Group (not Cluster)

WLS61SP2 on Solaris 8 (Sun), non-clustered server group, one Managed Server
suddenly gets no longer visible from Administration Server (on a different
machine), disappears from console (no status shown) but keeps on running
fine.
Problem seems to happen a few times a day, generally long (hours) after
Server Group .wlnotdelete cleanup and restart, seemingly unrelated to server
load, does not happen to "twin brother" server on yet another machine.
Server Group works as JSP engine for Vignette, unreachable server means
Vignette's dev environment can no longer save any modified JSP to (its own
Application deployed on) the server group (through deploy.refresh via the
admin server) and hangs.
Doesn't seem Vignette's fault yet, as it never happened in another very
similar architecture.
Surely not NodeManager's fault, since the Server Group does NOT use
NodeManager (certificates involved, bureaucracy rulez!).
Can anyone help please:
- any known issue?
- any way to have the server re-join the group, beside restarting?
With lots of TYA (and apologies for a bit of X-posting)
Paola R.

Please do not cross-post.

  • Event id 20022: the entity all management server resource pool is not heartbeating after creating pools

    hello
I have created tow resource pools for our servers and now I see in event viewer the event ID 20022 for 3 default resource pools like this:
the entity "all management server resource pool" is not heartbeating
the entity "AD assignement resource pool" is not heartbeating
the entity "Notification resource pool" is not heartbeating
but for own 2 pools there is no event. also in SCOM console there is lots of active alerts about resource pool heartbeat failure.
what should I check or do?

    Hi,
From my point of view, this may be caused by insufficient resources - the management server getting overloaded or having connectivity issues to the database.
Here is an article for your reference regardign to the error, please go through it:
    http://operationsmanager2012.blogspot.ca/2012/12/all-management-servers-resource-pool.html
In addition, did you add your Management servers to those two resource pool? The below link is about how to create resource pool, hope this can be helpful:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh230706.aspx
And this link below is about Automatic and Manual Resource Pools in Operations Manager 2012:

  • Start managed server in multihomed machine with cluster?

    Hi,
I have problems with starting a remote managed server.
I have a cluster configured with 2 managed servers in the same machine. I added a new managed server but assigned to other machine.
              MachineA:
              -AdminServer:7001,
              -ManagedServerA1: 7004, ManagedServerA2:7006
              -Cluster
              MachineB:
              -ManagedServerB: 7003
I tried to start ManagedServerB in Machine A but I have got this error:
              startManagedWeblogic.cmd ManagedServerB http://MachineA:7001
<Error> <Server> <BEA-002606> <Unable to create a server socket for listening on channel "Default". The address “IP of MachineB that I am using” might be incorrect or another process is using port 7003: java.net.BindException: Cannot assign requested address: JVM_Bind.>
<Emergency> <Security> <BEA-090087> <Server failed to bind to the configured Admin port. The port may already be used by another process.>
But the port is not used by any other process or server.
Other question: is it necessary to start all managed servers, local and remote in the server where my application is deployed?
Is it the correct way for using a cluster in multihomed machine?
Is there any documentation for configuring a cluster specifically for this case?
By the way, I am using Weblogic 91.
              Regards,
              Hicyo

When running with HTTPS, FlexBuilder enforces security restrictions on same domain policy and verifies security certificate.  To workaround this you either have to disable security on your OMS and use HTTP for your development (using emctl secure unlock), or you have to install the security certificate from your OMS in the IE browser you are launching from FlexBuilder.
To install the certificate in Firefox:  go to the EM website using Firefox, and you will see "The Connection is Untrusted", expand "I Understand the Risks" and click "Add Exception".  On the dialog that appears leave all the defaults and click "Confirm Security Exception".  At that point if you close/reopen the browser you can go back to the EM website and you should see no security exception.
To install the certificate in IE:  go to the EM website using IE and you should see "There is a problem with this website's security certificate", click "Continue to this Website (not recommended)", the address bar will then change to show "Certificate error" on the right side of the URL.  Click that icon and the "View certificates" on the "Untrusted Certificate" popup.  On the dialog that appears, click the "Certification Path" tab, then click the root node (root certificate) in the path and click "View Certificate".  In the new dialog that appears, click "Install Certificate...".  Then click "Next>", click "Place all certificates in the following store", click "Browse..."., select "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" and click "OK".  Then click "Next>" and click "Finish".  On the "Security Warning" dialog, click "Yes" to install the certificate and then "OK on the confirmation dialog.  Click "OK" on the "Certificate" dialog (there should be two) that was launched to install the root certificate.  Now on the original "Certificate" dialog click "View Certificate".  Then click "Next>", click "Place all certificates in the following store", click "Browse..."., select "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" and click "OK".  Then click "Next>" and click "Finish" and then "OK on the confirmation dialog. Click "OK" and "OK". At that point if you close/reopen the browser you can go back to the EM website and you should see no security exception.

  • SOA managed server and SOA infra not starting

    Hi
I have my database and listener up and running. I can also successfully start SOA Administration server.
But I am unable to start SOA managed server. I can see SOA managed server getting started with WARNING and SOA infra always fails to start.
I tried using both from command line as well as from NodeManager but without any luck. As a result I am unable to proceed with Deployment as soa_server1 does not appear in Step 4 in Jdeveloper deployment GUI dialog. I would also like to ask from the Gurus:
How can I start soa-infra alone as I cannot see any command from the command line to individually start soa-infra ?
Here is my part of output from soa_server1. The exception errors keep logging in loop and the file is growing. I had to terminate the process:

    Hi
    Thanks for your reply
Here is my installation details on Linux 32 bit OS:
    Weblogic server- wls1032_linux32.bin
    Repository Creation Utility- ofm_rcu_linux_11.1.1.2.1_disk1_1of1.zip
    SOA Suite- ofm_soa_generic_11.1.1.2.0_disk1_1of1.zip
    JDeveloper Studio, base install- jdevstudio11112install.jar
    SOA Extension for JDeveloper- ofm_osb_generic_11.1.1.3.0_disk1_1of1.zip
The installation went very smooth and there was no errors in the same.
I can successfully start the Weblogic Administration server from the command line but unable to start successfully SOA Managed (soa_server1), Infra and BAM server (bam_server1). I tried starting SOA Managed (soa_server1) from command line as well as from Weblogic console EM (after starting Node Manager) but always receiving the errors I uploaded in my post earlier. As a result I am unable to deploy any composite application
    Please advice
    Thanks

  • Drag and drop from Lotus Notes

    Hi all,
I have a little problem with dnd from Lotus Notes. The purpose is dragging a mail from Notes and dropping it on my java application outside of notes.
When I check the incoming flavors, there are 53 of them. The most of them are meaningless or empty, but 1 has my interest. It contains an URL from notes and with this URL I should be able to identify the mail within the correct Notes DB.
Asking the transferData for this flavor gives me this tracing, the @ are replaced be some squares in the original tracing.
It's the first one I'm interested in, but I'm unable to get the URL as an URL or String object.

  • Is there any way to clear Managed Server tmp from console or automatically?

When we undeploy, and then install a new version of a web application (Managed Server on Weblogic 12.1.2, using a deployment plan and default staging, which is copy to server), the web application still behaves like the old version. If we clear the tmp directory of the managed server beforehand, the changes are correctly reflected, which is fine if you have access.
But the issue is: We want to give developers deployment access to the admin Server (so they test their application in a representive environment), but we do not want them doing anything on the underlying OS.
I have googled, checked in books and searched in the console, but I have not yet found any way to force Weblogic to clear its temporary space automatically with every restart or deployment, nor any option to do this manually from the console (which a deployer could then do himself).
Am I overlooking something obvious? How would you get around this issue?
Thanks for any hints or answers & Cheers!
    Bogoy

    Thanks all,
"nostage" isn't really a current option, as it requires the deployment to be deployed to the filesystem - which again means the user needs access to the OS, or then some deployment staging area needs to be set up having some script distribute the deployment to all the machines it needs to be located on, respectivley to a shared mount.
Appearantly the tmp directory is not cleaned up in all situations.
Oracle Support is trying to tell me, that this not a bug.
If that where so, this somehow invalidates the purpose of the default "deployer" role in weblogic, with which a admin console user can only monitor and deploy applications, but does not have admin access, as this user will always also need access to the OS. I fail to see how this would be by design, if clearing tmp or giving the option to do so in weblogic, would allow for console only deployer functionality.
Scripting deletion of the directoy may be a workaround, but due to different setups it might be a hassle and such a script would also still not be invokable for the deployer on the console as long as we are running nodemanager in java-based mode. (changing this to script-mode is not possible short term)
But much appreciated input - thanks

  • What causes a managed server to start or not to start

    Hi,
I'm investigating a problem we have with an environment where a managed server was not running after the machine was restarted. Now I am testing it on a standalone testing environment and I can boot the machine and everything is starting automatically. Is a node manager configured automatically to start a managed server by default when installing weblogic? Until now we mostly started the managed server through the console. We use WLS 8.1.

  • Dropped from Group Texts

I have 6 siblings and 4 in-laws.  We had a string of texts going about my sick mother and for some reason I was dropped from the conversation.  No one is/was blocked on my phone.  Why would this happen??

        Thanks for clarifying PhilCox,
Let's see if we can determine what caused this. Do you know if anyone else has ever gotten kicked off group texts? Does it happen only when one specific person is part of the group conversation, such as your step-daughter? You can try clearing out your messages, and restarting to see if that improves your group messaging experience.

  • AICS4 drag/drop from finder not working

so I'm a huge fan of dragging and dropping my images from the finder into an AI doc, but suddenly i can no longer do this. yes, all the layers are unlocked and visible, so it's not that. they're RGB images (jpgs, psds, mostly) and the document is RGB, so it's not that.
did i accidentally hit a keystroke that would prevent this from happening properly? the ai doc window highlights when i drag over it, but then it just sort of twinkles and does nothing.
i've restarted illustrator, still no go.
    any ideas?

  • Looking for trouble shooting help -Connections being dropped from app.

I need a little help in hunting down the source of a problem. We have Oracle 10gR2 (10.2.0.1) running on Solaris 10. The web application is based on WEBLOGIC on another server also running Solaris 10 with a new firewall in between. When started, the application will get 176 connections to the database. Over time, still working on how long, the connections get dropped. The profile they app is connecting to is for unlimited connections and connection time. I do not have an setting to disconnect after idle for x minutes. Even the listener spawned processes die. Other applications from other machines also have problems if idle for a period of time, SQLDeveloper, SQLPlus, TOAD, SQLNAVIGATOR.
We are trying to hunt down the source of the problem but are at a loss. I have checked and verified that the oracle instance does not have a parameter set to kill idle connections for the users the apps are connecting as. The sys admin says there are no unix parameters he knows about on either solaris box that is killing connections and that the firewall settings should not be killing them.
A duplicate environment running all the same versions of software work fine, the only differences between the two is the box and operating system, Sun V120 w/Solaris 8 vs. Sun V40Z w/Solaris 10.
This system goes live in two weeks so we are trying to get this figured out soon. Any hints on where to look or has any one else had similar problems?
    thanks

Recently I discovered that Appserver 9 does not implement xerces as default in the server library ... a solution was to copy the archives dom.jar and xercesimpl.jar from lib of Appserver 8 that it comes in the installation of the Studio Creator 2 to the lib of appserver 9, not the servlet lib as i was expecting. This resolved the problem.

  • Drag and drop from Aperture not working?

This sounds like a pretty stupid issue but... when I attempt to drag & drop an image from Aperture (to anywhere, e.g. desktop, iweb, mail) it usually doesn't let me. Some photos will drag out but most won't (Two pictures of the identical format and size - one will let me drag&drop it and the other won't), and the export feature takes forever. I tried making sure that aperture is maintaining the previews and that the file to export is half size but still not working... any ideas?

Not stupid at all. That's a feature I use all the time and I'd be pretty PO'd if it wasn't working.
Your profile doesn't indicate whether you're running Aperture 3.x or not. Did the problem appear after an update or has it always been that way on your installation?

  • OS X Server dropped from App Store Purchases list

On 17 October 2017, I received notification of an OS X Server 3.2.2 upgrade.  I downloaded and installed the upgrade the same day.
After ensuring that I had a usable backup of my OS X Mavericks, I downloaded and installed OS X Yosemite today.  OS X Server 3.2.2 can't be used with OS X Yosemite.  When I checked for a newer version of OS X Server, I discovered that it was no longer in my Purchased list in the App Store.
On 17 October 2014, the App Store Purchases list included both Lion Server and OS X Server.  After installing Yosemite, only Lion Server remains in the list.
How does one get the OS X Server update?

I have this issue as well. Already called Apple about it once, and also sent a supoprt request to the App Store helpdesk to at least be able to upgrade my client's servers still running 3.2.2 on Mavericks. So far no succes, their policy is that if you upgrade ANY mac associated with the server app to Mavericks, your license for 3.2.2 is REVOKED and any systems still running Mavericks will be unable to upgrade from 3.2.1 to 3.2.2
On my server this has caused configuration profiles to no longer function, and as long as Apple doesn't reply I guess I'm stuck paying the $20. This bothers me. I know it's supposed to be cheap software but still, the usual demographic using this software are small businesses that want to manage their own software but don't have a lot of expertise. and stuff like this can really flark up their services. Apple should at least still allow people to install version 3.2.2 on their older machines.
