OT: Hold off on deleting your posts and replies

Hi all,
We have been seeing missing posts, replies, and discussions today, and we are hoping that this will fix the problem. Meanwhile, the tech team has been alerted to check for any other issues that could be causing this problem.

That's old advice, because Apple has made this work right in the last couple of versions of OS X. Now, if the Mac's asleep when the maintenance tasks are scheduled to run, OS X will check on them when it wakes up and if it realizes they were missed, it will run the tasks. So this no longer a reason to keep it running all night.
Regarding "it needs to be left on," probably not. Note that most Macs sold now are notebooks, which almost no one leaves on overnight. Unless we see widespread reports of Mac notebook failures, it'd be reasonable to assume that you really don't need to run a Mac all night long.

At the bottom see terms of use you own your content and can ask for its removal but it may remain in the sites backup. The problem is your responsible to remove it and the way the site code works once an append is made to your's. Your content becomes locked and you can no longer delete it. IMO part (c) is broken....

Hi kaylenmar, I assume videos play normally for you on YouTube and other sites.
There have been several long threads about Yahoo! videos and what might make them different from other sites. The upshot is that different people have found different problems and different solutions. For example, extensions that filter or block ads or prevent tracking can cause problems, as can the click-to-play feature.
One approach that worked for most people who mentioned trying it is to switch to Firefox 24, which is in the final two weeks of its beta testing period. You can expect a few more rough edges with a beta version than with the released version. However, it might be worth it if you don't like switching browsers to watch Yahoo videos.
I suggest making a backup of your Firefox settings folder before installing Firefox 24. This article has tips on doing that: [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]].

What I hope to achieve is to log on to forums.adobe.com and see a list of threads I've posted in, including ones I've started. Is that doable?
For example, I took a chance and "Bookmarked" a topic. So, how do I find my bookmarks?

Deleting FB Posts and capturing FB photos.... question

Hopefully someone can help me with this... on the old version of FB on my Droid X, I used to be able to delete FB posts that are either on my profile, or that I have posted on other people's wall. I can't seem to do that anymore.
Also, I used to be able to long press pictures that my sister posted on her wall and save them to my SD card. I can't do that anymore either. Is this not an option anymore? Or is there a different way to do it now?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

were you just browsing to facebook website previously? Might be that you could still delete posts if you used your browser to go to the website directly.
Probably the same thing for long press , copy and paste ok photos.

Does your iPhone 4s delete your notes and music?

Many times now, I open Notes on my iPhone 4s to look at something, it's there for a split second and then deletes.
I then check my Macbook only to find out that they have been erased there, too.
I cannot find a way to get them back and I do not back up that often.
Why does this keep happening? And just today (5-30-14) I used my phone to listen to my music, reach my destination, go back in to start listening on my way home, only to find out my music is gone.
I come home to check if the music is still on my phone. I find out it is, but it's not showing up on my phone.
Anyone having similar problems?
I upgraded to iOS 7 when it was first available for iPhone 4s and I keep on track with updates.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

(I've not seen a notification yet but that looks to me like how it's supposed to work.)

Time out occurring in Posts and Replies

Getting about 10 seconds to enter a Reply and maybe 60 seconds to enter a post.

Timeout seems to be related to IE8. Short test in Firefox gave no loss of cursor. Currently using IE8 64 and am still getting timeouts and loss of cursor.
Workaround is to highlight the existing text and do a cut and paste back into the body of the message which restores the cursor and allows the continuation of the post.
Timing of the loss of cursor seems to be a variable. Sometime I can enter more text before it occurs than I can at other times.

Gee, I hope ThinkServer isn't a dead branch! I came here from HP to build up the ThinkServer business in North America.
I think the server team here is not a real social media oriented team (yet) as we were at HP. I am starting to monitor the boards as I get a chance (and remember my password!). But I have another person on my team from the HP server group and we are getting the longer term Lenovo folks here up to the benefits and fun of interacting with our customers.
So we'll be working on being better.

Deleting posts and locking a thread

Yesterday, there was a reply made to the FMB size shrinks dramatically thread, where the poster described a situation where his Forms 10 fmb file somehow became corrupted, and the compiled fmx would no longer open or run. He posted that finding the semicolon - semicolon Replace All procedure had fixed the problem.
I posted a reply that acknowledged his post and warned anyone else reading and trying the procedure to be careful, that any "referenced" program units copied from another source would lose its reference link to the source. (Fortunately, most people do not use the referenced feature.)
Now today, I see those two posts have been deleted, and the thread is locked.
I would like to point out that the "semicolon - semicolon replace-all" process STILL works even on the latest version of the Forms Builder. Forms Builder has always stuffed compiled code into fmb files, and it can cause trouble when trying to run the fmx against a new database. (It was a less-than-optimum idea back in the beginning of the client/server Forms development cycle, but has never been fixed.) The replace-all / save process removes the old compiled code so the fmb is significantly smaller and clean, and a new compile will generate new and clean code.
I realize the thread is over five years old, but deleting new posts and locking the thread removes valuable information that just might help someone even today. I hope whoever locked the thread and deleted the posts will reconsider their actions. This forum is a valuable resource for Forms developers around the world, and even information in very old threads can be useful.

I have been recently trying to get the update for the new iOS 7.1 and it keeps coming up as too much data for update. It says to check your storage and or usage and edit it them, but when I go check I have over 7.8GB of messages "saved" on my phone. why?

I went to my data after this message kept coming up and unlike the rest of the usage data you cannot delete your "saved" message data. I tried deleting some photos (which I don't have a lot to begin with; now I only have 40) still nothing. I then went to to my local apple store in the mall and the two guys I talked to didn't help. They said to delete the threads which I did, then delete the pictures which I also did and that should help. They were wrong they I'd say however to reset your phone if all else fails and that will deffinelty do it. But I don't want to lose all of my data so I am trying to save my things on iCloud and it won't let me do to my storage. There have been similar situations like mine on here but the backup bot isn't working on my computer. At this point I am just so lost and confused I don't know what to do. Someone please help

Snowden has already commented on this. Messages are stored on Apple devices until they are uploaded for screening to the NSA. Apple holds these messages on your device and on the cloud service. Once the information has been uploaded to NSA, the messages then delete off your device. In order to not arouse suspecion, the device will always show you some amount to data as space being occupied on your device. Theorecically this data could be over written and not protected if they were on hidden sectors of your memory. The information stored on this "messages" partition is actually more than messages, thats why this space commitment can easily reach 3 gigs. Any computer science specialist will tell you that ASCII characters only use minimal kilobytes of data. Apple complies with this request to upload your personal data as outlined in the Patriot Act. The only way to delete this "messages" data hold is by doing a complete wipe of your device and not conducting a restore. It will clear the space off your device, but NSA actually has the information from the cloud service regardless.

Sometimes you can delete your own posts by logging in to these forums and then going to your posts (assuming you remember them all!!) and then looking for something like this:
This icon is at the left corner of your post that you have posted. Have a look at it and post back.

This has been an interesting thread, and it's circling around the issue I am having, but I can't tell if this thread answers my question or not. I'll ask here so as not to proliferate duplicate threads:
I am in an environment where the business produces and tests finished goods in satellite plants and then moves them to a central DC via STO. When I try to create COAs from the central DC, the COA program cannot find the results or specifications.
I had the idea to change the profile to look at the production chain (thinking the batch in the production plant was part of the production chain of the identical batch in the DC). When I did this, the program could not find the correct specifications. I have been messing with the configuration around the results and specification origins with no success.
I feel like this should be possible, but I can't figure out what I am missing. Is SAP able to create a COA from a central DC for a material/batch that was produced in a satellite plant and sent via STO?

1) in the BWUL make sure in configuration setup it is set to include stock transports.
2) You don't indicate where you maintain your specs. In operations like this you should try to be reporting specs and results from the batch. But I'm guessing you might be keeping the spec in the inspection plans only.
3) in the COA profile, you can create your own custom FM for "results origin" and for "results specs". You may need to create them if you keep your specs in the plans and not in the batch records.

You cannot delete your posts. Only a Host can accomplish that. And that may not happen without due cause.
If you just stop posting they will eventually be Archived.
What that means is, that if there are no additional responses in the Threads they reside in, the Topics will get continually pushed down on the Topics list. After a certain amount of time, maybe 2 to 6 months, the Threads will be locked, so no responses can be entered. But the Threads will not disappear.
Threads in heavily trafficked Forums, may be archived more rapidly than those in areas, with less activity.
The Topics that you started, will show your Alias, in the Author field of a main forum page, but eventually, readers will have to keep going to the succeeding pages to view them.
If someone were to do a Discussions Search, using these parameters:
Restrict by Category or Forum: All Categories
Restrict by Date Range: All
Restrict by Username: Your Alias
all of your posts, created since about 11/13/05, would be found.
