Ot? making jtable column not enabled?

I've a jtable with an abstract table model. I can set up the isCellEditable (via the table model) to return false for a given column, but the user can still "tab" into that column or select it.
Can someone indicate how to set the column as being not "Enabled" so that tab will skip over that column, and the user may not select it?
TIA

Hi,
Yesterday, when working with a TextFieldControl, I stumbled upon "setRequestFocusEnabled(boolean b)". I you set this to false for the textfieldcontrol, it is skipped when tabbing and you can't get your cursor in it.The method is defined in JComponent.
Maybe this works with the table?
I hope this helps

  • Making JTable columns 2- n scrollable, not the first column, how?

    Id like for my JTable's first column to always be visible, and columns 2->n to be scrollable. The table also follows the sortable table model found from the swing examples...so if the user sorts any of the columns, all the other columns should sort accordingly.
    is there anyway i can separate the first column with the others, so that i can put them in their own scrollpanes (first column just scrolls up/down, and 2->n can scroll either way)?

    I only glanced at the example at the posted link... if memory servers, the trick was to create one JTable but with two different TableModels. To link the two models, you can simply make the getValueAt method in the fixed model call the getValueAt method of the non-fixed model. It's a bit tricky for beginner, but doable.

  • Making JTable rows not editable

    i need to make a jtables rows and columns to not be editable, but i also need it to be able to be selectable. i know one way to do it is to extend defaulttablemodel and overwrite the iscelleditable method, but the problem is that i'm already extending jframe. is there any other way to do this keeping jframe extended, because i need it to be extended?
    thanks for the help

    Another question which will be no problem for you.
    Do you know of a java method to get the memory
    footprint of the current
    process.
    I try to perform some memory consumption analysis for

    written in java and I would like to measure this
    consumption.Sorry, don't know much about that. I'd post this separately in another forum if I were you.

  • JTable Column not included in sorting

    I dont want to include column 0 in the sorting, using TableSorter. That is when a sorting command is activated by clicking the table header, column 0 data would not be sorted but remain fixed.
    I have searched previous posts and tried various means for days now without a solution.
    even the underlisted, which i tried last did not work
    table.getColumnModel().getColumn(0).setCellRenderer (table.getTableHeader().getDefaultRenderer() );
    table.getTableHeader().setReorderingAllowed(false);
    Pls help

    Use camickr's trick:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=57&threadID=601267
    or, write your custom sorter.
    Implementing a custom table row sorter is much simpler than using existing TableSorter class.

  • F2 key not working with custom JTable Column

    I have a custom JTable Column (which is a JPanel with a JTextfield and JButton). Everything works as expected, except when the user presses "F2" to start editing the custom column cell. When the user presses F2, the custom cell goes into editing mode, but I am unable to type anything in it.
    Below is the SSCCE.
    Steps to Reproduce problem:
    1) Run the Program
    2) Select any cell in first Column.
    3) Press "F2" and try to type into the cell. Can't type anything.

    The F2 key when pressed generates an action event (either JTable generates it or some other component). I am not sure how to handle the action event in the isCellEditable() method. Also, F(X) range of keys other than F2 dump some junk character in the JTextfield when pressed. I am now stuck at this point and don't know how handle F(X) range of keys.

  • Custom JTable column (JCheckBox) not included in row selection.

    I am trying to use JCheckBox (for display only data) as one of my JTable columns. I have written custom cell renderer for the same. Every thing is working fine except that when I select a row, the new custom JCheckBox column is not included in selection. Here is the code that I am using.
        protected class CheckBoxColumnRenderer extends DefaultTableCellRenderer {
            JCheckBox ckb = new JCheckBox();
            public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table, Object value,
                        boolean isSelected, boolean hasFocus, int row, int column) {
                if (value instanceof Boolean) { // Boolean
                  ckb.setSelected(((Boolean) value));
                  ckb.setHorizontalAlignment(JLabel.CENTER);
                  ckb.setBackground(super.getBackground());
                  if (isSelected || hasFocus) {
                      ckb.setBackground(table.getSelectionBackground());
                return ckb;
        }How can I include the custom cell in the row selection.

    they have lots of dependencies and it is not always easy to strip out an SSCCE without a considerable effort.Exactly. And is the cause of the problem the dependencies or something else. The only way to know for sure is to strip out the code and simplify the problem, that way you truly understand what the problem is.
    The majority of time this can be done with minimal effort as in this case.
    Some times we are sure that the problem is with certain part of the code Is the problem the code or the way the code is invoked? How do we know the TableModel is created properly or that the column class is overwritten correctly when we can't see it?
    someone having a third look at it may actually find the enhancement required with ease.Exactly, but we need to see the big picture.
    So are you sure that I should post an SSCCE with every possible question where coding is involved ?In the majority of cases a SSCCE is easily created in 5-10 minutes, so if you want the fastest help then yes.
    Just twice this past week I was ready to ask a question on the forum and was preparing a SSCCE to post and sure enough both times the creation of the SSCCE caused me to look at the problem differently and I solved it. I would much rather solve a problem on my own then post a question and wait for hours (days) hoping someone else knows the answer.

    Here's an example of the model I used in my JTable. Not the "getValueAt" method & "getRecordAt" method. You will have to have a Record object - but it only contains the attributes of an inserted record (with appropriate getters & setters). Hope this helps.

    Your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.
    The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
    You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: Open with) if you didn't create this file yourself.
    The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

  • Syslog not enabled by default in systemd setup

    I installed Arch Linux from the 2012.10.6 iso, using systemd, and following the new, lengthy instructions.  Made separate partitions for /var, /boot, and /home.  Used btrfs on all of them.  The system works fine, so far, except that most of the log files are missing.  dmesg works.  I intend this machine to be a server, so it has php-fpm and Apache, but not X Windows.
    This is what I have in /var/log:
    btmp  faillog  httpd/  journal/  lastlog  old/  pacman.log  php-fpm.log  wtmp
    Where is messages.log?  Checking further, I found that the syslog (actually syslog-ng) service was never enabled.  Soon as I activated syslog, messages.log and the rest of the usual files were created.  Also, cron (cronie) was not enabled, which means no logrotate.  Even if I missed something in the instructions, shouldn't syslog and cron be enabled by default?
    Issues like this have me wondering if systemd is such a good idea.  Making logging enabled by default ought to be easy enough to do, and shouldn't be a reason to back away from systemd.  But systemd has other issues.  It's Linux specific-- needs kernel features that are only in Linux.  So it won't work with FreeBSD.  From what I've read on LKML, the push towards systemd comes from the udev developers, who it seems are causing problems.  udev was not supposed to depend on systemd, and now it will.

    Have you read e.g. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sy … md_Journal ?
    The last paragraph of your post was unnecessary as it's a rant and the issues you raised were covered multiple times already.

    Hi,

  • How to change JTable column header text

    How do you set the text in the JTable column headers? I know you can create a JTable specifying the text in an array:
    <li>JTable(Object[][] rowData, Object[] columnNames)
    But if you create the JTable specifying a TableModel,
    <li>JTable(TableModel dm)
    the header text defaults to "A", "B", "C", etc. I cannot figure out how to access the text in the header names so it can be changed to something useful. I know how to get the JTableHeader for the table, but it does not seem to have methods for actually setting header values.

    I'm sure that model allows you to specify header values so you don't have to do so manually. I would be very surprised if it didn't override the default getColumnName() method to provide a reasonable names.She wasn't writing the class, but [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=9200751#9200751]outlining a design for me to implement. And, based on a previous comment I had made, I think she assumed I wanted the new design to look as much like the old as possible. There were no headers in the original design, which wasn't even a table.
    Anyway, this works:
        final static String statisticsColumnNames[] = {
         "Type", "Count",
         "Red QE", "Green QE", "Blue QE", "Average QE",
         "Distance"
         qErrors = new QEBeanTableModel();
         JTable errorTable = new JTable(qErrors);
         TableColumnModel tcm = errorTable.getColumnModel();
         for (int col = 0; col < statisticsColumnNames.length; col++)
             tcm.getColumn(col).setHeaderValue(statisticsColumnNames[col]);
    It looks like setHeaderValue() on the TableColumn is what I was looking for.Again, only used if you are dynamically changing the values at run time or you don't like the defaults provided by the Bean-aware model.I coded the above before I read your last post. The QEBeanTableModel is extremely specific to my program. I.e. I cannot imagine it being used anywhere else. Would it still be better to implement a getColumnName() within the table model? Looking at your [url http://www.camick.com/java/source/RowTableModel.java]RowTableModel.java source, I can see that it would not be difficult to do so.
    Just decided to add the getColumnName() method. This whole sub-project is based on implementing a clean modern design (and learning about Java Beans). You've clearly stated twice that the method I have implemented is for dynamic header values only, which has already answered what I asked last paragraph.

  • Why is not enabled on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia FaceTime Why banned?

    Hello
      Why is not enabled on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia FaceTime Why banned?
    I have purchased a product (iPhone) (4) and surprised the deletion of this property is important!
    There is no equality between us and you, Britain, Canada and some European countries?
    I pay this amount to $ 750 enjoy the full features found with this product and finally blocked some features, such as FaceTime?
    We will be happy if the service was activated FaceTime in Saudi Arabia
    thanks a lot

    Because your government doesn't want citizens making free calls over WiFi. Complain to them, as they are the one's who requested FaceTime be removed.
