Como decían 'Les Luthiers', en este trabajo estoy
pasando por un periodo de
'práctica imposibilidad creativa', vaya que me he
quedado sin ideas. Ni una
sola, ni una puta idea que merezca la pena.
Picasso decía que 'cuando vengan las musas que te pillen
trabajando', pero
eso es muy fácil decirlo y muy difícil hacerlo
cuando uno se queda en blanco
y todo lo que se le ocurre son bodrios.
Dado que se trata de algo creativo y yo soy bastante
escrupuloso, desde
bastante tiempo antes de comenzar evito ver cosas que luego
pueda relacionar
con el trabajo y que puedan 'contaminarme'... y sigo
descontaminado pero sin
ideas.
Antes recurría a las yerbas, y otras 'evasiones
personales', pero uno ya no
está para mucho y las sustancias psicotrópicas no
me ayudan precisamente a
trabajar, así que no me valen.
Esta es la pregunta: ¿Qué haces tú cuando te
quedas más seco que una
mojama?.

first my configuration:
ibook g4, 14-inch, 1.42 ghz ppc, 1.5gb, os 10.5.8
everything runs well. the problem is that when i move the boot volume icon anywhere around the desktop (just rearrangement) it will NOT stay in the location where i put it!!! generally, i prefer to have the boot icon in the top uppermost right corner of the desktop. but when i re-boot the system, the icon moves down two positions and to the left by one position.
when i did a clean install, years ago, and installed all updates, everything was ok...no evidence of this "strange" behavior. then zip, zam, zoom, the boot volume icon doesn't like to stay where its put.
ideas, thoughts, recommendations??!?!?!!?!???
many, many thanks in advance.Click on the Desktop, CMD+J, Arrange by->None, move the boot volume icon to upper, right-hand corner (where I keep miine), and log out and back in or restart. That should do the trick.

Connecting Sony a300 camera to ipad2?
I'm trying to download raw files from my sony a300 to my ipad 2 but i keep getting this screem pm the ipad.
Could it be something to do with the file structure on my memory card? DCIM>100MSDCF - its standard structure but just putting ideas out there.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to download the images it would be much appreciated

JonnyIf your camera supports both PTP and Mass Storage Device modes, it may be necessary to use both modes to import all media content.
If some files do not import as expected using one mode, try switching to the other mode and importing again. -
Boot Camp in Yosemite can't see Macintosh HD
I have a 27" Late 2012 iMac with a 1TB Fusion drive running Yosemite 10.10.1 and Boot Camp with Windows 7 (which I just installed). My previous Boot Camp installations were all able to see the Macintosh HD from Windows 7 using the Boot Camp HFS+ driver (installed with the Support Software package). This installation cannot.
I thought that maybe I didn't have the HFS+ driver installed correctly, but lo-and-behold, it is: I can see and read external HFS+ drives just fine. It's only the internal drive that I can't read. Windows Disk Management can see that the drive exists but the OS simply can't read it in Explorer.
Could this have something to do with it being a Fusion drive in Yosemite? I've read some comments that may allude to this (though very sketchy and I don't want to put ideas into your head--I need to know the real reason). I'm 99.9% positive that I had Boot Camp on this computer a few months ago and it read the Macintosh HD just fine, though I could be thinking of my previous (Mid 2010) iMac; I can't be sure.
Please help. This is driving me crazy.

I am struggling with this issue: I have a couple of external HD enclosures with FW 400 ports. I put IDE drives into them, hook then into the G6 (and my Mini for that matter) and voila ...
Except, now, the HDs are not showing up on the desktop. Hardware Profiler recognizes the Enclosures, but the HDs themselves are not showing up. HDs themselves are fine. The enclosure itself is an Adaptec but, frankly, I have had continuing issues with several brands; is this just something that can't work?
I have reset the FW ports by shutting down, etc but that does not help. Again, Hardware Profiler recognizes the enclosures but not the HDs. I have 6 HDs with crucial info on them and only one spare HD slot inside the G5, what are my options now?

Granite Digital also has relatively inexpensive multiple bay firewire enclosures for ATA drives.
The only thing left to try is to get another enclosure, put a new drive in to make sure everything is working, then start swapping drives.

i have recently considered the possibility of buying and learning ableton live 6 for the purpose of building musical arrangements. does anyone here have any ideas, experience, or feedback that would encourage or discourage this shift? does logic provide any definite advantage over live?
I agree with Bee Jay - I use Live 4 for the same things. My style of writing is very, well, made up on the spot with no idea of what I'm doing! Live 4 allows me to put ideas together, then I bring them into Logic and arrange the whole piece.
Live 4 for me though has some nice bits - plug-ins just work. Doesn't matter what format they are, they just work first time with no hassle. I've got some that have never worked with Logic (even though they're supposed to) but with Live, no problem, so I've sometimes got the sound of the track I like, bounced to a new audio track and pulled that into Logic.
Another nice feature, no latency. I have that thing on the smallest buffer level you can get and again it just works. Can be tedious when playing the guitar and trying effects in Logic 'cos the delay just wipes out your playing. No problem for Live.
So why use Logic if Live is so good? Because Logic is more flexible for producing whole pieces of audio, more adaptive and more straight forward, and is a much beeter hard disc recording package. Live 4 you create the segments and build, which is ok for writing and jamming, but not so good for recording multiple instruments at once.
So they both serve a purpose and work hand in hand - get both and you're laughing.
If I could afford the upgrades I would, because something Live 5 can do that Logic can't (and so Live 6 will) is accurately beat match a live recording. Put in an audio track and it works out the tempo - including every change a live drummer can introduce. It is amazing at that - better than Pro Tools and anything else out there in my view.

I think most people have had a chance to notice the initrd-enabled kernel looming over us in Testing. I know that it's worked flawlessly for some, and not worked at all for others.
So to all who have had problems or have questions, please share them here, even if you've already posted them elsewhere on the forum. Excuse my laziness in this regard, but it's more efficient to collect them all here.
The goal is to get these problems out of the way so we can trust the initrd kernel enough to move it into Current.

That's the problem. I have REMOVE_MODULE="ide_floppy" and the module is still loaded. The mkinitrd version I'm using does not have --show option but I solved the problem meanwhile. It's about naming the module in REMOVE_MODULE. When I put ide-floppy ("-" in the place of "_") it worked. No ide_floppy module loaded. This means you have to use the real filename not the module name from lsmod output.
lanrat could you tell me which version of hwdetect does work on the notebook, then i can look what changed and breaks it now.

I checked the pacman log and it says I had 3 upgrades of initscripts since the installation from 0.7.1-pre1:
0.7.1-2 -> 0.7.1-4,
0.7.1-4 -> 0.7.1-5,
0.7.1-5 - > 0.7.1-15
To make it easier for you I downloaded and tried all hwdetect versions from cvs. Staring from revision 1.17 backwards to revision 1.8 hwdetect --show-modules hangs up (yes, I remember there was a change of parameters syntax). Revisions 1.7 - 1.1 all work fine and show the modules.
The problem must be in this code.
I think the line:
cat `find /proc/ide -name "media"`
is the problem. I have only one file in /proc/ide called "drivers" (the notebook has one sata hard drive). The "find" command probably returns false to "cat". And cat is waiting for an input (I think). If I use "ctrl d" hwdetect continues and returns output (latest hwdetect works in this way too). IMO one additional test for find command true/false output would solve this issue. You should also check the rest of the code if it handles nonexisting devices.
PS Sorry for polluting initrd thread with hwdetect problems. Feel free to split the post and move it to apropriate thread. -
Sometimes after putting my iMac to sleep, I cannot get it to wake up again. It's as if it's shut down and I have to turn it off at the mains and restart it. Any ideas why? Does this keep happening to anybody else?
That message means that you have to restore the iPad now. Something went wrong. You need to restore the iOS software and then restore from the backup.
Read this carefully and follow the instructions. Make sure that you restore from your backup at the end of the process. That is covered at the bottom of the support article.

I looked around the forums and couldn't find an existing solution...
This afternoon, I started using my Magic Mouse again, after about a week without turning it on. The mouse now jumps around erratically and sends spurious click commands - menus pop up all over the place, links are clicked, apps opened, etc. Usually it takes the form of the mouse jumping 1-8" to the left, and it seems proportional to the impact - if I put it down normally, it jumps about 4" to the left. If I put it down a little harder then normal, it usually jumps to the upper left corner.
This ONLY seems to happen when I pick up the mouse to reposition it on the mouse pad. If I slide it smoothly along the pad, then there don't seem to be any issues.
It has been in my backpack, and was turned on (I realized this afternoon when I took it out), so I wondered if it might have been the batteries. I checked them, and they're fine. It also had trouble connecting, though, and I had to cycle both the mouse and BlueTooth on the MBP.
I also saw several posts here that said it might be the optics, so I tried blowing those out, but they look crystal clear.
Just to be safe, I also updated the Wacom tablet drivers to the latest, no luck.

It's possible this started when I installed the Wacom drivers, since it 'feels' kinda like using a tablet in absolute mode, rather than mouse mode - but with the mouse hardware. I have not tried swapping out the mouse for another one, nor tried this mouse with another Mac. I can try those in the next few days when I get an opportunity, but figured I'd ask in the meantime.
I'm suspicious of either the Wacom tablet (but I can't imagine there would be a problem, as SO many people would have experienced it already).
I'm also suspicious that maybe something has been jiggled loose inside the mouse, but have no idea how to tell.
Can anyone save me a trip to the (distant) genius bar?

Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.)
if that doesnt help look at replacing the batteries in your magic mouse and try it then
if the issue still presists take it into a apple store and they can test it there to see whats up -
Set "hot corner" to put iMac to sleep. Doesn't work. Selecting the corner will momentarily put to sleep, but immediately rewakes. Have tried all four corners with same result. Have tried with wireless mouse and with corded mouse with same result. Any ideas as to how to fix?
You've been so great, I want to thank you for all the help over a very frustrating day. Last evening, I redownloaded and installed the fresh copy of Mountain Lion. The problem remained. After installing the new OS 10.8, any clicks on a web page (Firefox browser) didn't open the page, but instead made a copy of the page on the desktop. Felt it must be hardware degrading, so I set up a case with Apple support for today. Early in the diagnostics, I had swapped out for a corded mouse and the problem remained. As a last try, I changed out my wireless mouse for a different wireless mouse. That seems to have done the trick. My Logitech mouse is incompatible with OS 10.8.

Hi guys have a problem with my ipod touch 4 gen i deleted my music and am now unable to put music on to my ipod. when i attache the ipod to itunes it says the music is still on my ipod any ideas thanks in advance.
Do a reset of everything on your ipod. Then reconnect it and it should work.

I am using iMovie 11 and have put down a piece of music which is fine. I have done all the adjustments that I needed so far. My problem is that i wish to add another piece of music and whilst I can move it on to the timeline I am unable to control it. I have no adjustments on the track like the earlier piece. Full volume only. Any ideas ?

Thanks for the question. The symptoms you are experiencing can result from an Apple ID address that has been changed prior to signing out of all of the services. Before you change the email address associated with your Apple ID, you’ll want to sign out of all services to avoid this. As a fix, you can temporarily change your Apple ID back to the old address:

If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
1. Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.

- Scroll down and tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
- Tap “Keep on My [Device]” or “Delete from My [Device].” In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.

3. Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.

I opened a file on my desktop that I don't remember putting there. We use many photos and I thought it was a photo file I was looking for. It turned out to be a keychain certificate from a client of ours. Does this mean that they were spying on me? What is the deal with that? Any ideas?
Interesting tid bit. I created an AAC of the original file, deleted the original MP3 from my library and also deleted the Clean matched track from the icloud.
Result is that it matched with the explicit version of Mrs. Officer this time.
What I am curious about is which songs this is happening for. I've went thru a few batched of about 500 songs at a time and redownloaded in 256k for many tracks. Sadly we don't have people to bring this to our attention and I have so much music that it's impossible to go thru every song to make sure I am getting the right version. -
I-photo: I used 2 cameras to take pictures on a trip --- i have put the pictures from both cameras into an album --- when i click on view and then sort by date, the pictures do not sort by date --- any ideas on how to get the pics sorted by date?
Select all the photos that you need to change, then click the "Photos" menu and choose "Adjust Date and Time".
If you add a year, it will adjust all the photos that you selected by adding a year (so if you accidentally select one of the photos that already has "2012", that will change to "2013").
