OT: "Server connection interrupted"

What does this message mean? I'd never seen it before till I got the Quad, which is now networked to the PowerBook. Is it a network problem?
Sorry for the OT, but Activity Monitor took a while to open there, then I saw this dialogue box, clicked it, then AM finally opened.

Ok Jord, thanks, just as I suspected. Weird because I put the PB to sleep last night b4 sleeping the Quad, so I don't know how it took so long to realise the PB wasn't there.
Anyway, thanks!

  • Server Connections Interrupted - Mountain Lion, latest client and server upgrade

    Hello,
I have seen several errors of a similar kind with no definite fix anywhere on here, so I thought I would post this.
We are running a network with a Mountain Lion Server on a Mac Mini, connected to a router for internet access and connected to a local network for client computers. All the clients are running the latest version of Mac OS X Mountain Lion and are connecting to remote home directories on the server. They also use several group directories.
As of late, they have been getting the message: "Server Connections Interrupted. Ignore / Disconnect all" concerning their group volumes.
I haven't been able to find anything in the logs indicating why this happens, or how to fix it, or why it started appearing.
What have people experienced out there? It appears on all sorts of user accounts, on different computers in different areas of the workplace.
    / Z.

    Additional data:
There is no WIFI enabled on the network, all is networked using ethernet.
There's a Time Capsule on the Server, which backs up the server data regularly. This seems to be connected one way or another from the threads I've read, but those are from aprox. two years ago while this started happening recently.

  • Possible to disable "server connection interrupted" message?

I have a mac mini (running lion) connected to the TV as a media center with a Time Capsule 4gen. as a router with all my media on. Connected to the Mac mini via cable. The problem is that I verry often get the message "server connection interrupted" on my mac mini. it could be in the middle of a movie playing from the TC and it does not stop playing but the message pops up (internet and wireless also works normal when this happens), witch is really annoying! I then have to do share screen on it from my macbook and press ignore. So my question is; does anyone know what could be the reason for this and have any ideas i coud try to fix it? if not does anyone know if it is possible to disable the message in question or make it "autoignore" it or anything?

Not at the moment.. it is a bug.

  • Macbook Air and "Server connections interrupted" plague.

So there is a very known issue with Airport Extremes that have hard drives connected to them and an intermitent "Server connections interrupted" popup that as far as I can tell has yet to be addressed by Apple or solved by users (there are tons of threads on the issue). The popup looks like this (not my image):
I have experienced this issue for quite a while now due to my keeping my iTunes library on the Extreme-connected hard drive and the annoyances it causes, primarily iTunes 'losing' the iTunes Media folder location in iTunes preferences and then not knowing where mp3s are and having 'broken' song connections in iTunes, not knowing where to add new mp3s because the Media folder location is blank/empty, or most annoyingly, defaulting back to the Macbook's internal hard drive and storing new mp3s in it's iTunes Media folder, thus spreading my library across two locations/drives.
Now, for a long time I just dealt with it on my Macbook, not a big deal, but now I'm on a new MB Air and it's slim 128gb drive. I'm now moving nearly everything to the external - iTunes, iPhoto Library, Aperture library, various archive folders and reference materials, etc. and it's already beginning to really grate on my nerves. iPhoto struggles with it and losing it's library similar to how iTunes does, as do Aperture and others.
So I'm more actively looking for a solution and help. I was hoping maybe someone could think of something along the lines of Terminal, Applescript or Automator? Something that could check and maintain the connection? Or something that while those apps are open would sense when those preferences are altered due to the server interruption and restore the correct settings?
Just for the record, here is my home setup:
Airport Extreme <- External Hard Drive
Airport Extreme <- Airport Express (as extender)
    Airport Extreme <- Macbook Air
    Airport Extreme <- Macbook Pro
    Airport Extreme <- AppleTV 2
    Airport Extreme <- iPhone 3Gs & 4s

Just noticed the image above is broken, here is an image from my MB:

  • Server connections interrupted??

I've tried to get the proper forum, sorry if wrong.
I was surfing on my macbook air when all of a sudden I get this 'pop-up' that looks like an Alert(?): A yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it and it says: "Server Connections Interrupted" and below a picture of maybe a light blue 'book' with three white 'men' (figures) in it and next to it it said 'SharedDocs' and under that 'Owner', then I had the option of clicking either: 'Ignore' or 'Disconnect All' and lastly a 'eject' type of symbol
But I never lost service, was I being hacked???I have a secure wi-fi
I clicked the 'eject' type 'thing' and it went away....
    signed nervous

I may be having this problem on my server. I have leopard on the router and tiger still on AFP on the internal server until I get time to upgrade. But I am not actually losing the connection. It just says that it is interrupted. This has gotten much worse lately.

  • Keep getting "Server connection interrupted" message

I went down in the basement with my Macbook to do some work on my Dell desktop and I keep getting the "Server connection interrupted" with a disconnect button.

Both my iPad 1 and 3 have done this, to a point that all websites were no longer accessible!!! Yet, my iMac worked like a charm, and our Ooma VOiP box in WiFi mode worked fine. I tried lots of different things, without any of them working.
I searched the whole web, not just these discussions, and didn't find any solution at all.
So I just reset my Airport Extreme to factory defaults, and everything is back to normal now! Sheesh! Hope this helps a lot of people!

  • Disable "server connection interrupted" message

Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the "server connection interrupted" message that appears when a connected server goes down. This message serves no purpose. It presents the user with the choice to either "ignore" or "disconnect", but choosing either one causes the disk to unmount. A message box is unnecessary if both of the choices it presents have the same outcome. I'd be much happier if the disk just automatically unmounted in the background.
    thanks

I'd like to disable this dialog as well. I know the server connections are interrupted. That happens when I pull the network cable out. In my case it makes absolutely no difference whether I hit "Ignore" or "Disconnect". You're a Mac, just do what you have to and don't bug me about it!

  • Server connection interrupted

I have an iMac, running Mavericks 10.9.2, connected (wired) to a Netgear ReadyNAS 10400.  For the last couple of weeks I struggle to copy files or folders from the iMac to the ReadyNAS.  It starts to copy, but after a while it shows "Server connections interrupted", and then the copy process stops.  I can copy to a flash drive with no problems.
I have searched the forums but it seems as if all the people with the same problem are connected wirelessly and normally to TC.
Anyone with an idea as to what may be the problem?

    By the way...
It works fine the other way around.. I can connect to the laptop using the imac... no worried there!
    Thanks

  • Server Connections Interrupted - not wireless, not time capsule

I know there are other threads on this, but they are a little different, have LOTS of replies
    AND NO SOLUTIONS!!???
    really?
I have a 6tb My Book Live Duo, my connection to which generates this meaningless message / dialog box constantly.  At least, while I am copying to it usind CCC.  The "Server Connections Interrupted" dialogue appears every few minutes, then vanishes.  Seems harmless but really, really anoying.
    Running 10.6.8
    Any suggestions?

There is a bug.. it was introduced with 7.6 firmware and Lion.. but if you are still on SL it still affects you.. go back to TC firmware 7.5.2 and it will go away.

  • Installed Airport Utility 5.6.1; now "Server Connection Interrupted"

Software Update just prompted me to install Airport Utility 5.6.1, which I did.  Since then Time Machine has done two backups, and both times I have received multiple messages saying "Server Connection Interrupted" and showing an icon of my Time Capsule.  I have always clicked ignore, and the backup has seemed to continue.  I hope the backups are accurate, but I don't really know.  All insights welcome.  Thank you.

Time Machine has been backing up without incident for a couple of days now, so I guess the problem must've been with my ISP and the timing with the update just coincidental.  Doesn't look as if anyone else has had a similar problem.

  • Disable "server connection interrupted" on wake

I have a Macbook Pro running Mavericks, and I recently bought a Seagate Central drive. However, whenever my mac wakes from sleep, I will get the "server connection interrupted" message which will dissapear as soon as it reconnects to my network. I find this message quite a nuisance, and was wondering if there is any way to disable or prevent it from appearing all the time.
    Thanks

  • Server connection interrupted error

i always get this error on my MacPro for my Time Machine device connected via ethernet and I am wondering if this solution looks like it is correct:
"I've finally found a solution to this problem. Go to the computer that keeps dropping the network. Upon up the Control Panel and click on Network. Click the Advanced button. Click on the Network Tab. Change Configure from Automatically to Manually. Select the correct settings - this will very depending upon your network and router. Save the settings. After I did this, I have not had the "Server Connection interrupted" error."
    thanks

I'm having the same issue lately. It just started in the last few weeks. It doesn't seem to have any impact on what I'm doing line (pages loading, etc) so I'm not sure what's going on. I'm working on a wireless connection, but it doesn't seem as though that has anything to do with it based upon the previous 2 posts. I'd love to know how to make this pop up stop.

  • "Server connection interrupted" errors

Since upgrading to mountain lion, I'm seeing "Server connection interrupted" pop ups on AFP volumes mounted from a moutain lion OS X Server.
The proplem is reproducible. User's home directory (from the same server) is not disconnecting.  No time capsule in use at all.

  • Time Capsule "Server Connection Interrupted"

For the last 2 months I get this Pop Up every Couple of Hours on my iMac. I have a Time Capsule & my iTunes Library is on that Network Hard Drive.
"Server Connections Interrupted" and shows the Hard Drive in my Time Capsule (iTunes).
I am running latest Version of Lion.
I am connected from iMac Ethernet to Time Capsule.
I have the Time Capsule Drive Set to Login when my Mac Starts Up.
But here's the funny part. My iTunes Music will be Playing perfectly when this Pops Up. No skips, Stutters. Nothing. So it does not interfere with anything working.
I would like to Post the Error but I forgot how!

I have just installed a new 4th generation Time Capsule, and have the same [what I thought initially was just a nuisance] 'Server Connections Interrupted'  popup window appearing very frequently.
    Here is the Popup window:
Worse; when I began the process of backing up 105GB of data from my NAS RAID 1 set up to the new Time Capsule (TC), the copying process is failing part way through [typically deep down in the Folder Structure] which as you can image is a real pain, a hopeless situation really…
Here is the Copy Faiure message:
The TC setup is simple, WiFi turned Off, DHCP, Bridge Mode.  Connected directly by Ethernet to iMac and the NAS, and the WAN Ethernet port to an AirPort Extreme.
I also note a strange entry in the TC Airport Utility 'Logs and Statistics'…
Every five minutes, there is a Severity:5 message, an AFP Login, instantly closed?
Feb 25 12:13:56          Severity:5          AFP login OK from Robert [email protected].
Feb 25 12:13:56          Severity:5          AFP session from Robert [email protected] closing.
Feb 25 12:18:57          Severity:5          AFP login OK from Robert [email protected].
Feb 25 12:18:57          Severity:5          AFP session from Robert [email protected] closing.
    10.0.1.2 is my iMac
What on earth is this log about, is it related to the failure of the copying of the backup files from NAS to TC...
I am in a desperate situation right now, since I am unable to continue with the backup and restructure of iPhoto and iTunes libraries, which are all resident on the NAS RAID 1 setup.
Am replacing all of the Ethernet cables involved, incase this is simply a 'bad connection'.
Would appreciate some feedback from anyone who may have cracked this issue...
Take note Apple, this is awful!…  All my other stuff, prior to this incident, an Airport Extreme, an older Time Capsule as WiFi extension and storage, Airport Express, Macmini, works like a charm…

  • Integration Directory - Server Connection interrupted

    Hi,
after a system copy we have the following problem: If we start the "Integration Builder:Configuration" and want to view, create or change an object we lost the server connection. The error message in a popup is: "Connection Interrupted. Connection to sercer lost. You can log again once the server is available again. Do you want to log on again?" After the log on again and a new click of an object to view or change it, the same error pops up.
    What can i do?
    Kind regards, Norbert

    Hi,
the problem exists only in the integration directory. In "Integration Builder: Design (Integration repository)"  there are no problems with viewing and changing objects. Also my user login is not locked due to invalid login attempts.

  • Network server connection interrupted

For the past couple of weeks I keep getting a mesage that the connection to a server that I have connected to my Airport Extreme has been interrupted  I don't notice much of anythinhg happening as a result.  I am connected to the Airport with a wire from this computer.  Anyone else seen this.  OS is Snowleopard

I had a long discussion with an Apple tech rep earlier today. He insisted that this issue is related to interference despite my comments about how TC was working OK for about 1 year before recently knocking me off line on a regular basis.
After reviewing the list of networks in my area, I must admit that I noticed quite a few new wireless network players. The Apple rep directed me to a site where I downloaded a widget that you can place on your dashboard that shows all the neighboring networks and their frequency channels. Low and behold all of us were on channel 6 except for two who were on channels 1 and 10. We then changed my TC channel to channel 2. I implemented this about 6 or 7 hours ago and have not had a problem since then (knock on wood).
You can find the same version of the widget at http://www.macwireless.com/html/support/airport_radar/index.php After reviewing the channels your neighbors are on, I suggest you try switching to another channel via Airport Utility's Manual Setup/Wireless tab. Good luck!
I guess interference is a growing issue as we become more wireless with our societal applications. ...sounds like another opportunity for an aspiring inventor to conquer.
