OTF/PS fonts have recently stopped rendering in Flash Pro CS3 on Windows 7/64

Recently, a number of my OTF/PS fonts have stopped rendering when used in Flash Pro CS3. The fonts appear in the fonts menu, render properly in the font preview popup in the font menu, but the fonts fail to render on stage when used, with certain exceptions:
--If Bitmap Text is selected, the fonts appear (but aliased)
--If Anti-alias for animation is selected, then the text appears when text insertion is active in the text box, but vanishes when focus shifts to another element, tool, selection
In all other cases and for all other settings (yes, including black text with 100% alpha on a white background, etc etc), the text shows solely as transparent. You can select the text (although not see what you're selecting), cut and paste, and as you change the font size, kerning, justification, bold, italic, etc, the text boxes resize as normally expected; simply, the text does not show up.
The fonts work normally in all other CS3 and Windows applications, and up until about last week (Dec 12 or so), used to work fine in Flash.
The problem fonts appear to be (primarily Open Type Format) Post Script Outline fonts.
I have installed all Windows updates, Flash Pro CS3 updates, deleted the Flash user config files, deleted and reinstalled the fonts, and copied the fonts to the C:/user/Program Files/Common/Adobe/Fonts folder.
There were no new installations (applications, fonts, etc) around the time when the error started showing up, aside from possibly Windows updates.
Given the timing (worked fine Tuesday, failed on Wednesday), I believe a Windows update may have been at least partially responsible, though perhaps it's the Mayan apocalypse.
Running Flash Professional CS3 on a Windows 7 64 bit system.

It sounds as though you have a corrupt project - or possibly a file within an event that is causing the application to crash.
Quit FCP X, then move your projects and events (if you have any) to new folders so that FCP X doesn't find them, then relaunch the application. If it launches OK, there's a very good chance one of your projects or events is causing the problem.
Quit the app again, then move one event or project at a time back to the original folder and launch FCP X again - keep going until you find the cause.

Well thats upto you but before any major update a backup is recommended, you should also be backing up your system as a matter of good housekeeping.
Time machine makes this very easy, you will require an external disk at least twice the size * of your hard drive in you Mac. Connect it to you Mac with USB, Firewire or Thunderbolt, whatever you wish. You can use Time Machine to take a backup of the hard drive.
If you are unfortunate and have a hard drive fail you can recover all your data very easily.
Apple also sell a product called Time Capsule http://www.apple.com/timecapsule/ but I just use an External Disk.

That is expected. Serial numbers are platform specific. You need to get CS6 and make the platform switch.

Default Windows font scaling renders the Flash Pro UI unusable

If I have font scaling on my laptop set to anything other than 100% (125% is the Windows default for comfy-to-read text) the Flash Pro UI is also scaled, and the content within each panel is cropped, so that you miss scrollbars, buttons, etc.
The only way round this that I can find is to set the global font scaling to 100%, but that makes it very difficult to read all other apps.
Does everyone get this?

Resolution: 1366x768 (doesn't matter as it fails even when used in external monitor 1920x1200 res)
Windows Display Scaling: 125%
The scaling issue makes Flash unusable in 125% display scaling. Setting the scaling to 100% and 150% works fine.

Enabling GPU rendering in Premiere Pro CS3

Hi,
I've just built a computer for dedicated video editing and I am having trouble setting it up with Premiere. It takes a prohibitively long time to render anything.
It's running Windows 7 Home Premium and I've installed my copy of Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.
I've read that I will probably have to configure my computer / Premiere Pro to use the GPU to process the rendering but I don't know how to do this.
Would anyone be able to give me some (really easy to follow) pointers about how to set up and configure my PC to utilise the graphics card for processing?

How do I change the fonts on the main page.My fonts have recently changed without my doing anything. They are like 6 point instead of the 12 I am used to. Email font is now huge. Is this an ATT/Yahoo problem or Firefox. Safari fonts seem to be o.k.

I did nothing to change them, but after the event tried to change them using "preferences-Fonts"which had no effect. ATT seems to have made a change in their email. The fonts in the email are now huge (18 pt?). This could be an ATT/Yahoo problem with Mac, although Safari seems to be working o. k.

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you need to make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. Well, in the end I contacted Apple and it was rather hit and miss but the problem was solved by deleteing the com.apple.mail.savedState file. It took them a bit of time to sort it out and I had to be promoted up the chain of support but it worked. Hope this is of use to others with the same problem,

I have recently bought a new macbook pro because my macbook's screen was broken. I had all my files backed up but when I opened my iphoto library on my computer it asks me to upgrade the library - which i did, only to find over a thousand photos missing.

I have had the files re-backed up but am hesitant to do the upgrade to my library. anyone have another solution???

For issues with video resolution not being consistent, I would start with resetting the NVRAM on your MacBook Pro. That will reset the resolution to its default as well as resetting other default settings like sound volume and start up volume. I have a late 2011 15" MacBook Pro with a Windows 7 partion. On both sides of my HD, i cant burn DVDs.

I've tried Windows Media Player, and Windows Movie Maker on Windows. On Mac, I've tried a few different things including Burn. For some reason i dont have iDVD. In my "About this Mac" it says that my optical drive can burn DVDs. It always goes through the process, then skips to the end and spits out the disk saying it couldnt complete the task. I dont understand why its so difficult these days when burning DVDs used to be so simple.

I thought about doing what you said above, but unfortunately, I didn't have any spare blank DVD's. However, I was able to sucessfully install Windows & on my Mac. What I did was when I got to the error message, I would cancel the installation and that would return me back to the install now window. At that point, I would take out the flash drive and put it into another USB port. It took a few times, but eventually it recognized the drivers and allowed me to install the software. Remember, once you get past that point, the installation will ask you to choose a drive to install Windows on. Highlight the Boot Camp drive and chose "advanced", and then chose "format" after that. After all of this, it should be smooth sailing.
