"Other" Adobe Flash Players, Shockwave apps

I get notifications that say I need to upgrade my Adobe app or I have a codec missing. I found out the hard way that other "Adobe" software apps aren't real. How exactly do I tell the difference between the real Adobe and the fake? Some even say Adobe on them and really look the same! Isn't it illegal for other apps to say Adobe?

The only way you can tell is from where you actually download the update; it is either from an adobe.com or macromedia.com site; anything else is fake.

Apple dropped playback support for .swf formats in QuickTime almost ten years ago.
Adobe Flash Player is the only way to view them.

Adobe Flash Players - not supported by Nokia E61??...

Hi - I am new here - I love my new smartphone!!!
I have just bought a E61 and from reading threads and posts here (thanks so much everyone) am I to assume that this phone does not support Adobe Flash - I havent been able to download Adobe flash players as it tells me that my phone does not support it even though I was advised when I updated to Version 3 for E61 it would then enable me to install Adode Flash and Shockwave etc
which kinda makes the internet part of this phone useless coz most sites run on these players these days - it is really frustrating as I have spent many hours trying to get the internet part of my phone up and running smoothly
I guess I just need a YES or NO answer from one of you lovely gurus here - in case I got it wrong - Nokia smartphones do not support most internet sites because of not supporting their flash player - it this a correct assumption?
Many thanks to anyone that can help me with this - I am very disappointed that this phone is not doing what I was told it could do when I bought it!

The phone support only Flash Lite, which is a subset of "full" Flash you can have on PCs and PC web browser.
Flash Lite is useful local/standalone Flash Lite apps, but not for web browsing.
Adobe has not created a "full" Flash player for mobile phones yet, as far as I know.
All in all, you can't access Flash based web sites with your phone (or most any phone you can find on the market).

What are the distinctions between Adobe Flash Player & Shockwave Player & Shockwave Flash?

I find references to what seem to be three distinct things:
Adobe Flash Player
Shockwave Player
Shockwave Flash
Treatment of these things is interwoven and confusing:.
As an example, the Adobe Shockwave Player page at URL: http://www.adobe.com/products/shockwaveplayer/ provides a link to a page to test whether Shockwave Player is installed. That test, however, is the test to see whether Adobe Flash Player ins installed.
On my Mac running OS X 10.6.4 Firefox 8.0.1 has a Plug-In named Shockwave Flash 11.0.1.152.
Are these things indeed distinct? Is it likely that both (or all three) are needed on the same computer? The Adobe web site should clearly define the relationships at a high level of visibility.

Basically, the Flash player is just that: you can watch videos, but you can't interact with them.
To give it its full name, Shockwave For Director is primarily used for things like games, or demos where the user can interact with the animation.
The current version of the Shockwave (For Director) player is 11.6.3.633 while the current Flash player is 11.1.102.55

Dort ist ein dicker Button "Download Flashplayer", der bringt einen hierhin: Adobe - Andere Version des Adobe Flash Player installieren
Dort steht was von Chrome, Sie haben Opera (echt, dieses Fossil?), also den Link geklickt und man landet hier: http://get.adobe.com/de/flashplayer/otherversions/
Dort kann man u. A. auch Opera auswählen.

Adobe Flash installing Shockwave Flash

I downloaded Adobe Flash player for Firefox web browser but when I checked my addons it says that I have shockwave Flash installed and no Adobe Flash.
I wanted Adobe Flash not Shockwave.
I researched the Internet and it reported that Adobe Flash and Shockwave Flash is two different softwares.

Then how come there are two different softwares for this?

Adobe Flash Player / Shockwave Flash Crashing

Adobe Flash and Shockwave Flash are crashing several times a day on my computer. Windows 8.1 and firefox v 34.0.
I can recreate the issue sometimes by right clicking on flash media, which will lock up my browser for several seconds and then cause a crash.
Can anyone give me some suggestions for where to start troubleshooting this issue?

I've seen a lot of stability reports around Windows 8, Firefox and Flash Player.
Both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer have invested heavily in bringing a highly tuned experience and modern plug-in interfaces to Windows 8. Improving plug-in support is not a priority for Firefox, and although we continue to address stability issue where they make sense, most of what I'm seeing are generic crashes and hangs that boil down into the fundamental inefficiency in retrofitting a modern sandboxing approach necessary to protect users in today's security landscape with a plugin architecture from the 1990s.
While I'm more than happy to take a look at your crash reports, I'm pretty sure that this is the conclusion we'll arrive at based on the last several folks I've talked to about this.

Adobe Flash Player/Shockwave is not running on FireFox... does not run in Youtube, or other video sites.

Hmmm... this morning I was watching youtube videos.. and I noticed a little lag. Really minor... but thought that shouldn't be happening.? So decided to see if I could fix it. Not sure what I did or if I did anything to cause this? I really don't think so. Maybe firefox.exe -p?? Was working fine up until today?
I've read a bunch of the forums and tried a bunch of stuff but still no go. When I disable protected mode it works fine, but I want protected mode to be enabled so that I'm... well... 'protected!'
I've uninstalled FireFox and Flash Player and reinstalled numerous times but still same thing.
I'm running Windows 8.1, with most recent Flash and FireFox. My computer is an i7 4700HQ 2.4 Ghz, 12 GB Ram etc... its a 6 month laptop.
Anyone know what the issue is? I've never experienced anything like it? I've ran Malaware bytes.. didn't find anything. Ran AVG and found one threat... I think it was the Crack threat (cockos??) does that ring a bell...? came from a torrent. That issue has been healed now tho.. not sure if they are related??
Also ran a disc cleanup and it took about 5 minutes... doesn't usually take that long but its all clean now. Deleted a bunch of debug dump files... again, not sure if that's related??

Anyways, I would like to still use Flash but its killing me right now trying to figure out whats going on. Would really appreciate some help/advice. Let me know if you need more info.

Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 that you have is a relatively low end graphics card and low end for on-board graphics chips, whichever you have. ''Unless that is a laptop that switches drivers for "gaming" which puts a lot more load on the hardware and runs the battery out a lot faster.'' Technically the HD 4600 ''should'' be enough for web browsing, but Flash is a lot more than simple web browsing.
IMO, if disabling the Flash Protected Mode solves that issue - do that. Or upgrade your hardware, especially if you have a separate Graphics Card ''[vs an on-board chip]'' or can install a better card in a desktop computer.
As far as YouTube videos goes, have you tried using the HTML5 setting for YouTube?

Make that setting and Google will deliver HTML5 video when it is available for each "clip". From what I have seen ''[I'm not a big user of YouTube, though]'', like maybe 75% of the clips I see are available in HTML5 - ''ymmv''.
BTW, Mozilla is working on eliminating the need for even having to use Flash. They're working a a project which is code-named Shumway to play SWF-format files.

Why you do not have adobe flash players ? I will move for sumsung bc of this reason.

Guys i prefer to move to sumsung bc i always face a problem bc apple do not support adobe flash player and realy this company is stuborn as **** and fir sure they have issues with abobe and they r fu....ing the users . thanks for the articles they explain with details ok i agree with you in many points about the flash player
but still inconvenient for me using iphone and my ipad and to get surprise many videos i can not watch them on the devices.
really you guys should find solution and one more issue with apple it's really hard to install images or videos to the pc or opposite. i bought sumsung galaxy note and really i stoped using my iphone after that and i always love Aplle but i feel to much presure from your side by using itunes and stupied sync which many times could lose your apps and re-download. as i m user i do not want to compicate my life where ever you guys make it easier for us we will be more happy from Apple.
By the way many friends i know they switch from iphone to sumsung bc of this reason so please try to make it easy bc we love Apple hardware.

Adobe Flash player, shockwave just doesn't work.

For flash player,
I'm using chrome and firefox, somehow flash player just won't work
I checked the flash player is installed, and can see the animation at no. 5

But when I tries to view a video from cbs site, it says "Please install Adobe Flash Player to view this video"
And also there's a game I wanted to play on my computer(not browser), and it tells me "Adobe Flash Player or an HTML5 supported browser is required for video playblack. Get the latest Flash Player..."
I checked my chrome and firefox plugins, both are enabled and always allowed to run. Yet why this problem persists?

Can't find Adobe Flash Player in app store

I am getting a message that my Flash Player is out of date but after downloading it, I get a message that it needs to be uploaded from the app store. I go to app store but don't see it anywhere?

Adobe flash player is not on the Mac App Store. Go to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and download the installer as a DMG file.
Then open the DMG file and launch the installer in order to install the plugin.
If the installer for Adobe flash is suggesting you go to the Mac App Store then I would be concerned that it isn't an official installer.

.msi for Adobe Flash and Shockwave

I need to get .msi files for Adobe Flash 10.0.32.18 and Shockwave 11.5.1.601. i can't find them any where. We have a new DOD Security Directive stating that we have to be at this level. Does Adobe have a product like WSUS since its product are continually loaded with Security Vulnerbilities?

This is the Acrobat forum, not the Flash or Shockware forum. I checked on the Adobe ftp site and what you want doesn't appear to be there. Perhaps you'll have better luck in the Flash forum.

Adobe flash and shockwave?

If I have Adobe Flash do I need to have Shockwave also? Can you have both running at same time? play War Commander by Kixeye and it constantly pops up a box saying shockwave has crashed and asks me to continue or stop plug in. However when I just went to look which version I had using this site it said I had no shockwave player?

Shockwave Player and Flash Player are two different products, and of course you can install them at the same time.
Note that "Shockwave Flash" is Flash Player, not Shockwave Player.

Installation des Adobe Flash Players unmöglich

Hallo liebe Adobe-Nutzer,
vor kurzer Zeit hatte ich einen Virus, woraufhin ich eine Systemwiederherstellung mit meinem Laptop durchgeführt habe.
Nach dieser kam z.B. auf YouTube ständig die Aufforderung, Adobe Flash Player zu aktivieren. Außerdem sagt es mir, dass ich einen neue Version des Flash Players installieren soll. Also downloade ich den Installer der neuen Version und versuche diese zu installieren.
Ich kann die Datei öffnen und auch ausführen, jedoch geschieht danach nichts mehr. Allerdings läuft der Prozess noch. Sehen kann ich leider trotzdem nicht und somit auch kein Flash Player installieren.
Ich hoffe ihr könnt mir bei meinem Problem helfen.

Installationsprobleme hatte ich schon häufiger und das Putzen mit Hilfe des uninstallers hat bisher immer geholfen. Wenn da aber ein Virus auf dem Rechner war vermute ich darin die Ursache.
Wenn ich hier einen Virenverseuchten Rechner habe gibt es nur eine Vorgehensweise: Platte ausbauen und per USB an einen sauberen PC angeschlossen (alle Medien/Disks read only außer der per USB angeschlossenen Platte) und neu formatiert. Natürlich keine Schnellformatierung. Anschließend wieder in den PC eingebaut und, sofern vorhanden, sauberes Image eingespielt. Sonst halt neu Installiert. Da ich nur Originalsoftware verwende und die zugehörigen Medien habe ist das kein Problem. Und bevor nicht alle aktuellen Updates eingespielt sind kommt er auch nicht ans Netz.
