Other functions once Tablet is plugged into docking station

The title pretty much explains it all. I would love to set the IR remote app to default once I put my tablet into my docking station.
For now I can only select the clock...which makes no sense in my opinion cuz u already have a clock on the bottom right and the dia show which I dont use.
Since my docking station is on my living room table the app that should start is the IR remote so I can instantly power up my TV etc.
Is there any way I can do this?

Currently when Docked only the Clock, Chumby or the Gallery is offered as a default program when docked.
We will forward your suggestion to include a user selected custom default program when docked.

No sound - iPad thinks it's plugged into dock

Using a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad 2. Been working fine since Friday. Today, I noticed it had no sound. Read all the threads about this, but all my sound settings and lock switch are set correctly. That is NOT the issue.
It was then I noticed when opening the iPod app, it shows "Dock Connector" in the top-left where the volume control normally is. Um, it's not plugged into a dock.
I did a full reset, which didn't help. I then did a full restore (redownloaded iOS 4.3) and it still shows it's connected to a dock.
So, just for grins, I plugged it into my car dock in my truck. It plays music/sounds through it just fine. When I unplug it, I get volume control back. However, as soon as I sync it or plug it into the charger, I lose sound again and iPod just shows it once again being plugged into a dock.
Cleaned out the connector to make sure nothing was in the jack and tried 3 different sync cables. I'm syncing to a mid-2010 27" iMac i5 quad core. It sync perfectly, but just kills the volume controls when I do.
Anyone have any suggestions before I send this back?

Wow, the same thing just happened to me on my iPad 2. Going to try ALL the things you tried and see if I have any luck. I searched other Mac/iPad forums and didn't find anyone with this problem until now.

Click wheel problems when plugged into dock connector

I just got my 80gb yesterday. I'm having problems with the click wheel. I have an adapter that plugs into my car stereo through the dock connector and also a Bose docking station. With my old 4th Gen iPod, I could use the click wheel to scroll through the menus while it was plugged in.
With my new 80gb classic, it has trouble scrolling when plugged into the dock connector. Is anyone else having this problem?

Similar thing is happening with mine, except the other day my boyfriend dropped it into a cup of beer... it worked fine right away but then when I tried to use it again a few hours later it wouldn't turn on. When it's plugged into my speaker dock, it lights up and first just shows a gray screen with an apple but I can reset it and then it works fine, plays music, etc... but when I take it out of the dock the screen freezes up with these horizontal lines on it. I figured it must be battery related too but not sure.
Sorry this is really unhelpful, I just wanted to commiserate and see if anyone comes up with an answer for you...

T420 won't dock into docking station

Have a docking station Type 4337, but T420 won't snap into place. Same type of docking station at work, has no problem with T420 snapping in. Seems to be binding somewhere, but cannot get it to budge. Key is in place and in unlocked position. Not sure if this is defective or if I am unaware of something. Seems simple enough to use. It appears to be stuck in the 'undock' position. Something under the 'spring loaded' docking pad, appears to be preventing it from moving down to the 'docking' position. I think this thing is defective.

I compared the two docking stations and identified the problem. There are two plastic hooks built into the base, one to the right of the connector, one to the left and below. In a correctly functioning station these hooks are pushed aside as the computer is inserted, then spring back, holding it in place.
On my malfunctioning station the hooks were stuck, preventing the computer from being inserted.
I was able to correct the problem by nudging the hooks with my finger, which unstuck them. If they stick again I can try some graphite lubricant.

IPOD PLACED INTO DOCKING STATION

i've got a ipod nano 7th generation, which i love but when i place it into the docking station no music comes out.I had to buy the lighting adaptor.

I heard of some problem with ipod nano lightning-to-30-pin adapter that it is not compatible to some docking station. Have you bought the adapter?

My iPod shuts down after 30 minutes. Won't turn on until plugged into dock.

You might have a bad battery. But first try recalibrating the battery gauge. Run the battery all the way down until the phone shuts off and doesn't restart. Then charge for 4 hours with the wall charger. Repeat the process. If the problem remains you need a new battery.

No sound from xb4 Docking Station

Using the HP Entertainment PC with the xb4 Media Docking Station. Can not get the mute button to turn off on the docking station. It will control the notebook volume and mute buttons, but will not turn it off on the station. The notebook sounds great until it is plugged into the station, and it becomes silent. No sound coming from the speakers at all. Purchased the entire package 4 months ago, talked with hp tech. support for several hours, and just received the third docking station today yet I'm still having the same problem. The second docking station worked great for about 2 months, then the computer was disconnected and once the computer was reconnected the problem emerged. The first and third stations had the problem from the first connection. The only thing plugged into the station is the power adapter.
Please if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated!!

I do suffer the same pain, i just received the (XB4) replacement from Hp, because I've been having the same problem, and after hours with tech support finally they agree to send it!!! and guess what...... the same old history, no sound come out, the funny thing is that my wife has one xb4 too, and we had been doing all kind of trouble shooting tests and my wife's docking st. works perfect, now I can't express my how far my frustration has reached.
Anyway I do recommend to send your Docking Station + Replacement Docking Station and get your Money back or exchange it for some other product, because I really and strongly believe that my time is more important and valuable than dealing with this kind of issues where i paid for a quality product and it results not to be, and/plus uses my time in order to figure out how to fix it (i don't think so!!!).
This is a Bad one Hp, i like your products, but this one really got me out my nerves.

X201 wifi slower in docking station

Hi,
I have noticed that when I'm docking my X201 into docking station the wifi speed is less than 10mbps. When undock, the speed is 50Msps from same spot.
Can you please help me to fix that?

Do you have the lid closed when the X201 is mounted on the Ultrabase?
If so, you have changed the orientation of the lid located WiFi antennas from generally VERTICAL to generally HORIZONTAL, and this may have a significant impact on WiFi performance due to the inherent nature of wireless communications systems.

Dock station just doesn't fit!

Got my iPhone yesterday and connected my dock station, BUT my phone just doesn't fit very well and I have to hold the phone in quite firm to get it charging! Tried my bossess docking station and the same with his. (and yes we have the correct docking station). Sure I can just use the cable instead but why pay good money for a docking station that you can't use...right?
Does anyone have a solution...am I missing something? Seems odd that both my boss and I have the same issue?

If you have an Apple docking station designed for the iPhone 4, you don't have to worry about inserts. If on the other hand, you have a 3rd party docking station you may have inserts. Some manufacturers make docking stations that will work with any iPhone and will provide various inserts for the different iPhone models. The inserts allow the different iPhone models to fit in dock properly.

Apple does not repair devices beyond replacing the screen on some models or a battery replacement. They replace the ENTIRE device.
For the Out of Warranty replacement cost, you could have gotten a fully functional replacement device. Instead you chose to spend less to get only the screen replaced and continue to live with additional issues.
Apple will not touch the device now. They will know that it was opened elsewhere and that the replacement screen is not original.

I just bought a docking station for my iPad so I could plug into a mixing board and record a live show. I was disappointed at the time limitation for the recordings. What is the maximum amount you can record a song into GB for the iPad?

I purchased a docking station for my iPad so that I could record a live recording of my band directly from a mixing board this weekend using GarageBand. Unfortunately, I was unaware of the song length limitations of the iPad version of this program. Basically, was unable to capture more than 15 minutes of the gig. I've read other conversations on this forum and can't really determine the maximum amount of time this application can record. Can anyone tell me how long GarageBand for ipad can record at one single time and how to adjust the settings to achieve this? Also, is anyone aware of any other apps than could be used to record a longer please share. Thanks.

I received an email reply from George, the Founder and CEO of Studiomini, he indicated to me that their app does not have any time limitations in regards to recording like GB does, you are only limited by the amount of free space on your iPad. Fo what it's worth, I think the Alesis IO Dock is an amazing piece of equipment. I would highly recommend purchasing the IO Dock and plugging your mixing board into the dock to capture your rehearsal. Hopefully the feedback I received from Studiomini is accurate and I can capture my entire rehearsal at one time. I hope this feedback helps. One last note, apparently their will be a update soon to view Studiomni in the landscape view on the iPad instead of just the portrait view.

I don't think you're likely to find a set of external speakers that come with a microphone and plug directly into a USB port. There are USB audio cards that look like tiny flash drives but have microphone and headphone ports in them, to which you can connect a typical two-plug Windows PC headset with a microphone, or else you can connect external speakers and a stand-alone microphone. Those adapters typically cost under $10. I don't know anything about the quality of sound that can be expected from them.
I have a Griffin iMic, which is much the same idea but larger, a bit more expensive (retail~$40), and perhaps delivers somewhat better sound quality (I hope so, but I don't know because I've never had occasion to try one of the little ones).

How come my Ipod Touch will only charge when plugged into a computer and not a docking station or wall socket?

My IPhone works with both the charging USB cable as well as the wall socket and docking station. Additionally, my IPod used to charge using both the wall socket plug in and the docking station. My IPod will stay play music when plugged into the docking station, but won't charge. Further, when I plug my IPod into my computer all it will do is charge and is not recognized by ITunes. I have done both a soft and hard reset.
