Other languages thread support (RE: in English vs AW: in German)

I love the thread feature in Mail, but emails from my German colleagues has a different subject line treatment. Instead of the English "RE:" their operating systems insert a "AW:"
A sample subject thread is "Re: AW: Next meeting" and gets a separate thread in Mail than "Re: Re: Next meeting"
Any way to change that behavior?

You can not convert and see it directly BUT from the language specific XLF files you can see the corresponding text in that language. From the navigator view, if you drill down the folders, you will see the xlf files.

  • Auto_lexer (stemming) not working for other languages(other than english)

    Hi All,
We are planning to use AUTO_LEXER instead of MULTI_LEXER and observed that stemming is not working for German where as it is working for English when I use AUTO_LEXER. I even used query templates but of no use.
But when i use MULTI_LEXER, creating sub lexers for German and Enlgish, Stemming is working for German also after changing the session language and setting stemmer of wod list to German (Which is expected).
Following is the code for AUTO_LEXER creation:
    CREATE TABLE test_auto_lexer(pkey NUMBER(5,0),
    lang_index VARCHAR2(3),

this doesnt work even after changing the session language. My default Sesson language is AMERICAN.
Could any one help me with this, in case I am missing something here. I would be really thankful.

In the future, please begin a new thread for a new question and provide a link to a related question.
According to the online documentation, Oracle only supports stemming for English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese. Oracle does not support Russian stemming, although you may have gotten some accidental results, due to identifying it as a different language and applying stemming rules for that language. The following manual sections show the languages available for the index_stems attribute of the basic_lexer and stemmer attribute of the basic_wordlist:
    Basic_lexer attributes:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/text.112/e24436/cdatadic.htm#CIHHBAAD
    Basic_wordlist attributes:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/text.112/e24436/cdatadic.htm#g1019326
Also, please see the following note:
    Features not available in 11.2.0.3:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/readmes.112/e22488/toc.htm#BABDGGDB
"Certain Oracle Text functionality based on third-party technologies, including AUTO_LEXER and CTX_ENTITY, have been disabled in this release (reference Bug 12618046). For BASIC_LEXER, the usage of the INDEX_STEMS attribute values that depend on third-party technologies, is also affected. If this impacts an existing application, contact Oracle Support Services for guidance."
Also, the auto_lexer has been replaced by the world_lexer, which only has one attribute:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/text.112/e24436/cdatadic.htm#BHCJEGFJ
I don't work for Oracle, so I don't know why they do things the way they do.
So, you need to stick with the basic_wordlist for stemming, not the lexers. However, you may get better performance by combining the multi_lexer with the basic_wordlist, as the multi_lexer eliminates time spent on automatic language detection. But, you need to remember not to use the index_stems with your lexer, since it will conflict with the wordlist. I am not experiencing any time problems as you have. Please see the demo below. I have provided the whole script below that, so that you can reproduce it on your system. If you still have problems, then it may be due to differences in versions.

  • How to support different language and print in non-english language from AS

I want to print different language that users enter in Oracle 9i AS and print reports in english and other language like spanish.
How do I configure the AS Server, I am running 9i AS on Windows 2003, I have changed NLS_Lang setting in registry but it doesn't work.
Please provide setting and if any environmental vairables I have to set in Reports properties files or elsewhere.
    Thank you.

Did you select the languages on the first screens of the Universal Installer, when installing this instance? If not, you may need to do it again to enable support for that language.

  • Finally support of other languages in forthcoming Leopard?

Does anyone know if Leopard will finally support other languages than English as well? I want to buy my parents a Mac and VoiceOver would be perfect for them if only Mac OS X would support German.
Leopard is said to have a new voice technology, but I could not find out if this is restricted to English again.
Why is an important feature like this not localized? Does anyone know the background?

    Hello Thomas,
I've had a lot of success with Macs running Tiger in French, with added voices from Infovox iVox. The easiest way to get these is to buy VisioVoice from Assistive Ware — the language packs are bundled and include American English, British English, American Spanish, Canadian French, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Flemish, Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish.
There might be odd problems with non-localised voice tags, but you can usually kludge these using the VoiceOver pronunciation dictionary—with care!
Other voices are available from Cepstral. Listen to samples from both sites, and see what you prefer. I'm aware that buying extra voices is an additional cost, but compared to the cost of Windows screen readers, this is trifling.
As for Leopard, it certainly promises full localisation not only of the OS but also of VoiceOver. I don't know what other languages may be delivered with machines or local distributions of Leopard for installation on existing kit, but third-party voices shouild work just fine.
Don't hesitate! Go for it! You won't be sorry!

  • IE7 settings in other languages than english

    Hi all,
I have a question concerning the IE7 settings for CRM (PCUI, WebUI):
From the SAP support we received the recommended settings in english. We have several users in different countries and their Internet Explorers are in in french or hungaria or whatever.
Now the questions is: are there documents with the IE7 settings in other languages than english? Or do the users have to compare the english settings with their version of the IE?
What is your experience with this?
    Thanks for your help!
    Greetings
    Anne

By typing in a language other than English. You can change the keyboard to more suitable forms for many languages.
    "Add international keyboards:
1 Choose General > Keyboard > International Keyboards.
The number of active keyboards appears before the right arrow.
2 Tap “Add New Keyboard…,” then choose a keyboard.
You can add as many keyboards as you want. To learn about using international keyboards, see Appendix A, “International Keyboards,” on page 248.
Edit your keyboard list: Choose General > Keyboard > International Keyboards,"

  • Proposal to extend dialer functionality (english and other language for T9 search in dialer)

    Hello.
Here is a proposal to extend functionality of dialer.
In current version T9 dialer language is set to english (always) + some other language (optional ONLY IF menu's language is different fron english).
    For example.
Menu language - english, dialer T9 - english.
Menu language - russian, dialer T9 - english + russian,
Please add possibility to choose language for T9 dialer with menu's language set to english. It is usual option to other dialers.
I want to use english language for phone, but i need both english and russian for T9 dialer.
You need just to add option to dialer's preferences to add T9 language independently to menu's language.
Can you do it in further updates?
    Thanks.

There is no settings for this as standard in the phone.
I will pass your feedback on internally.
For more information about language specific questions I suggest that you contact your local support:

  • Table names and column names defined by other languages, not English.

    Hi, everyone.
I am wondering if there are any possible problems or any inconvenience
when I define table names and column names by Japanese, not English.
Currently, we are using SQL server 2000 as a db and windows as a operating
system. In the near future, we have the plan to change the database software
and operating system to "Oracle 10g" and "Linux O/S".
I have not experienced the oracle database, which has table names and column
names defined by other languages, not English.
Personally, I would like to use English as table names and column names.
In this case, I might have to provide appropriate reasons.
Are there any possible problems or any "inconvenience" in terms of
system maintenance, development, or something else ?
What could be pros and cons in this case?
    Thanks in advance.
    Have a nice day.
    Best Regards.
    Ho.

First you need to make sure your database has character set that support Japanese.
    Choosing a Character Set
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/ch2charset.htm#i1007681
The main "inconvenience" you will have is if the client doesn't support Japanese or unicode, it will have trouble to access the table.
And say in future after the application been developed, you want to implement the schema in some English environment, you will have hard time to do it.
My point is English tablename and column names doesn't prevent you use it in Japanese environment and save Japanese data but not vice-versa. Hope you understand.

  • I18N - French ,English other languages

I want to develop a Webdynapro page ,which has
    Employee Name Text input field
    Company list dropdown.
    Deaprtment List dropdown
    Save Button
    English / French Button.
    If User clicks French ,
All labels and data in dropdowns should be populated with French list data.
If User selects Company dropdown - onchange event should fire to retrive Department data in French/English Based On Language Selection button.
If there is no data in SAP for given Company selection ,a message from sap need to be shown in respective language.
In Future in addition to French/English application should support for any other languages
Any thoughts/ suggestions on such requirment.

Well normally the SAP-standard RFCs fill in the sy-langu as the value for the language selection. That is the language the user is logged on with. You can do the same with the none-standard RFCs.
To change the Connection with the JCO on the fly using webdynpro is not possible as far as I know. You could try to find the connection your model is using, change the language and reset it. A new connection is then created. I know the last part works, just don´t know if you can change the connection language that way. Still I wouldn´t expect the texts on screen to change automatically.

If purchased from Adobe then the best option would to be to return and reorder the correct product. Refer to http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/order-product-platform-language-swap.htm l for more details.
    Thanks

can't I get Xcode for leopord for free? or is there any other compiler which supports many languages?

XCode is Apple's official SDE (as in Software Development Environment). It is meant to be used to develop all kinds of full-fledged applications, which are organized as projects. To use it that way, you run the main XCode front end, called appropriately enough Xcode. In the older versions of the product, prior to Lion's v4.3.x, everything was found inside the /Developer folder located at the root of the boot volume. (If you ever move on to Lion, XCode 4 is now an app found in the Applications folder and there is no longer a /Developer folder.)
An alternate way to access the compilers is via command-line mode in Terminal, on traditional Unix fashion. After installing XCode, it will have set up the PATH variable to point to the appropriate directories so that gcc and its ilk are directly accessible. For instance (note that silverflash is the name of my Mac and my userid is macjuan):
    silverflash:~ macjuan$ which gcc
    /usr/bin/gcc
    silverflash:~ macjuan$ gcc -v
    Using built-in specs.
    Target: i686-apple-darwin11
    Configured with: /private/var/tmp/llvmgcc42/llvmgcc42-2336.1~22/src/configure --disable-checking --enable-werror --prefix=/Developer/usr/llvm-gcc-4.2 --mandir=/share/man --enable-languages=c,objc,c++,obj-c++ --program-prefix=llvm- --program-transform-name=/^[cg][^.-]*$/s/$/-4.2/ --with-slibdir=/usr/lib --build=i686-apple-darwin11 --enable-llvm=/private/var/tmp/llvmgcc42/llvmgcc42-2336.1~22/dst-llvmCore/Developer/usr/local --program-prefix=i686-apple-darwin11- --host=x86_64-apple-darwin11 --target=i686-apple-darwin11 --with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/include/c++/4.2.1

    silverflash:~ macjuan$ gcc --version

  • JSAPI - other languages than English; MIDlet - settings loading; JSAPI - al

    Hello!
I need to create application which uses speech recognition. At first I thought about using CMU Sphinx (PocketSphinx or, possibly, Sphinx4). Later I thought about JSAPI. (Sphinx somehow uses JSAPI but I don't know what is the difference between JSAPI and Sphinx).
I have read almost all (up to 6.7.9) of the following tutorial: http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/speech/forDevelopers/jsapi-guide.pdf. Unfortunately I couldn't've found one important thing, i.e. how to create acoustic model for other language than English?
Thanks in advance for your answers :-)!
PS There are some other things which I'd like to know:
    1) How to load some settings from file (I guess nowadays configuration files are created with the use of XML but I dunno)?
    2) How to maintain algorithm which is used by MIDlet which involves JSAPI? I mean there are some different things which my MIDlet needs to do. I guess it is good habit to divide different goals into separate parts of code (due to object-oriented programming).
In my case there are some different things:
         a) speech recognition of audio input, i.e. changing input audio stream into output text string
         b) analysis of that text string and according to this string choosing the proper transition in my algorithm
In general I have written my algorithm on sheet of paper and it takes about ten A4 sheets of paper. Because of it I thought there should be some way to write this algoritm maybe outside the code, in some kind of file which would contain this algorithm. Maybe there is other good way to implement this algorithm, not necesarilly in the code.
         c) sending of results through httpconnection with the use of POST method
         d) receiving in on TomCat on server
    3) Which method should I use to receive the recognized speech? I found these:
         a) FinalRuleResult, b) Result -> getBestToken, c) getSpokenText, d) ResultToken of RuleGrammar
    4) Can you give me any full examples of JSAPI usage? (Not just short parts of code like in this JSAPI guide)?
    Greetins :-)!

Praveen, Yes the infoobject is language dependent.  The problem did not happen in BWQ but came up in BWP.  so I am not sure at this time what is causing in production that didn't happen in BWQ.
    Thanks,
    Syed.

  • B2Bconsole in any other languages than English?

Does anyone know if there is a civilised way to localize the B2Bconsole GUI, to display in any other language than English?
I have found no documentation nor settings, and not sure if there is any way to do it (except for decompiling the orignal one, or writing you own console...).
    thanks,
    Norbert

    Dheeraj,
Sincerelly, I don't think you will have prepared translation to Polish , but maybe? If not, is there any possibility to create such a translation oneself?

  • How can I turn off other languages on my ipad running ios7?  It has Japanese or Chinese and the international keyboard is set to English.  Thank you.

How can I turn off other languages on my ipad the next generation running ios7?  I have the international language set to English but it's showing a foreign language and sometimes it shows the foreign language with English.  Thank you.

The complete backup and restore procedure is explained in the link above.
If you don't want to do a restore, then your iPad may remain in the unstable state you have for the moment.
You can change the country in the App Store. Have a look at the bottom of the App Store screen, you can change the country and also do the permanent change via Manage > Account.
You can change the language in iTunes via General Preferences > under General tab.

  • HT204411 iTunes store - I live in the German speaking part of Switzerland (and have a credit card address here too) but want to watch films in English, Italian, or French. Why are films not available in these other languages ?

Hello, I live in the German speaking part of Switzerland (and have a credit card address here too) but want to watch films in English, Italian, or French. Why are films not available in these other languages ? Unless I am mistaken, iTunes Switzerland is far from Swiss and does not encourage its people to watch films in the local languages of its country (at least French and Italian would be good too...). Can anyone help ? Do I have to move to Geneva to watch a non French film in French or Lugano to watch a non Italian film in Italian or simply buy a DVD to get round it?

I have the same problem. I want to watch any movies in French (in the original, or subtitled and/or dubbed). But I cannot seem to find any on iTunes. Does iTunes offer any content in other countries (I live overseas) in the languages of those countries?
