Other Strange Happenings

Hi!
A website I set up last year and since updated to iWeb 08 has been doing fine - a little slow loading, but fine until now. When viewed with a browser other than Safari, the pages initially load fine, but when the page is 'scrolled', the vertical navigation bar I created goes crazy. The text is not aligned correctly and the links have red X's.
The website is: http://web.mac.com/laytonhouse/LakeshoreRVpark/Welcome%21.html
What is going on?

Here are some tips I gleamed from this forum on getting the site to be more IE compatible but they are mostly for iWeb 1. Some may still be valid for iWeb 2, however. With iWeb 1 photos with frames would be converted to png files and those were not viewed very well by IE. With iWeb 2 the photos remain jpgs even with frames. However, the frames add additional files, png, that have to be loaded so removing frames would help a bit. Since iWeb 2 I haven't gone thru the tests that I did to confirm these tip originally.
1 - do not use and frames or borders, etc. around photos.
2 - don't use any reflections.
3 - use only the web safe fonts from the Font pane.
4 - do not use drop shadow on fonts.
5 - turn off smart quotes
6- if you add a jpg to a page don't resize it in iWeb as that will cause it to be converted to png. Resize it to what you need before adding to the page. Then go into the Inspector/Metrics window and click on the Original size button. iWeb will resize any image no matter what size it is originally.
7 - make sure no items are touching or overlaping text boxes or images as that will cause them to be converted to a png file.
The above will reduce the number and size of files associated with a web page quite a bit. Photos with fancy frames and reflections can generate a thumbnail png of around 110KB whereas the plain version will be a jpg of only 28KB. Although it doesn't sound like a lot, it will speed up loading of the page and be more darkside (i.e. PC) friendly.
Run a test with a test site and publish to a folder. Then follow the hints above and publish to another folder and compare folders. Hopefully some of these may help speed up your site.

    Strange happenings with my beastie! Recently switching on to network my home set up and anticipating the perennial problem this G4 has in holing configurations, I opened system preferences. But instead of seeing the usual icons representing features in the various categories, the majority look like dog eared pages nailed to a board with pins top left and bottom right and a mini icon over the left bottom; the top right corner forming the dog ear? How do I change them back - and what has happened to cause this? I mean, I haven’t altered any settings; the only chore this mac is used for is down loading images from my camera and maybe exporting them across my network.

    At this point I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
    After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
    Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
    At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
    The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
    Dump the VM files for a fresh start.

  • I'm affraid I lost my "Word" document of 30 pages. I can see only stars,squares and other strange figures. How can I recover this? Please I need help!!!

    I need help! My daughter is busy with her final studyprogram. Her "word" document changed into stars and other strange figures. Is there a possibility to recover this. I hope someone can help her!!!! thanks jvdharst

    Are you using the latest version of MS Word?  It’s possible you can restore the corrupt file from the last saved version or the automatically saved version.  Have you tried that?  MS Word uses a folder called Autorecover to store temporary versions of your file.  Hopefully there’s a good version in that folder.  Use Finder to search for Autorecover if needed.

  • Strange happenings with Quicksilver 766MHz

    Hello,
    We've started having problems with several Quicksilver 766MHz macs in our labs.
    The Symptoms:
    1) Machine starts to boot up, then all of a sudden it's like someone's pulled out the kettle lead.
    2) Occasionally, these machines manage to boot. But, take out the USB cable for the keyboard and it instantly shuts down.
    Other strange symptoms:
    Well, just repeating myself really. If it does boot up, if you pull out the keyboard USB lead then it will trigger the immediate shut down!!!*.
    Things we're tried:
    Removed all RAM, tried them one by one.
    Swapped the PSU with a 'known good machine' (or was it a 'known good machine'? It's a long filthy job swapping PSUs).
    Reset the motherboard.
    Tried to ZAP the PRAM - at that point the machine wasn't getting any further than a couple of seconds into booting.
    Checked graphics cards and all cables inside etc.
    The battery is working because, i think, if it wasn't then it would get to do it's initial chime (most times it will chime, then power down, but sometimes it can't even be bothered to do that).
    Searched archives. Found one thing where this guy was having similar problems, except that it wasn't booting at all, the On button would just glow. But i haven't found any information on this strange symptom involving the USB cable:
    http://lists.apple.com/archives/macos-x-server/2005/Sep/msg00220.html
    This general troubleshooting link from apple:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=95055
    Other info:
    The latest 3 machines behaving in this way were moved to another location and when they got there they were in this state.
    The environment we're testing them in is not over heating them. They've dealt with far warmer conditions in the past.
    A number of these machines, which were all purchased at the same time, have started behaving in this way
    Any thoughts most welcome. Thanks in advance,
    C

    Hi, I've seen some occasional flakiness with the USB ports on my QS 2001. I believe that the USB ports just don't provide enough juice to run many peripherals off, so my suggestion would be to make sure that you use powered hubs for anything more than a keyboard, and if you use a keyboard with a port installed (Kensington's Keyboard-in-a-Box is one such), hang only one more device off of it.
    Occasionally heat damage can be irreversible, and it sounds like you're experiencing some of the symptoms here as well. Just for grins, have you tried running the machines with the case open? The battery is also a symptom of all kinds of mischief. I'd replace that it in just one computer to see if it made a difference.

  • BC - Strange Happenings?

    Hi All,
    Can anyone else elaborate on the mysterious happenings that I am experiencing in my BC Site?
    With the following changes taking place;
    Webforms changing themselves
    Content disappearing for the clients site
    Dynamic Menu Root Items reordering themselves
    I have spoken to “Live Chat” about the above problems & unfortunately my request for explanations has thus far lead to nothing.
    Have any other partners been able to have BC check these strange happening – by looking into previous back up version of the Data Centre? Surely BC has these?
    On a funny note, the last “Live Chat” consultant asked me for proof… he wanted to see screenshots of the menu prior to it being mysteriously changed! Is he serious?
    The dynamic menus root item structure has also change by itself in our Responsive BC Templates also…
    See for yourself!
    http://peakhotels.businesscatalyst.com/ The contact should be the last menu item
    http://peakhotelsusblue.businesscatalyst.com/ this is a clone of the Au version on the US Datacentre & is the way it should be – same on the EU Datacentre…
    http://agencymind.businesscatalyst.com/  - same here
    I haven’t check all of our templates or clients sites as yet, but it seems to be related to the AU Data Center & I suspect that it has something to do with the outage last Saturday night…
    Any comments would be appreciated, as I am starting to feel that I am going mad…
    Cheers
    Brendon

    Hey there Sidney,
    Thanks for the response!
    There has been a Support Ticket generated - Ticket 1303 has been escalated to Level 2 support
    As you are a Staff Member, I am hopeful that you can answer the following questions for us;
    1. Does BC keep a record of log in details for each site? The reason I ask this is in order to offer proof that I did not effect the changes.
    2. In relation to BC's Data Centres – Can you detail the redundancy measures that BC has in place with regards to their servers & explain why when a Data Centre falls over everything falls over on that Data Centre? – And why when this takes place, that when this takes place a secondary server bank is not activated – which is the case with most other professional hosting solutions.
    3. Is BC able to roll back a site to a previous version when an outage takes place? As I believe that BC should be in the position to offer this feature to it Partners – as BC in in fact a service provider that all partners rely upon heavily to provide us & our clients with the service we are paying for.
    I know that within your support team, that there is defiantly a culture that is indicative of placing a lot of the blame for said problems on the actual partners, where by they believe that a lot of issues we face as partners collectively are basic HTML/Coding errors that have been created by the Partner.
    This maybe true is some situation, but not in all cases & it is defiantly not a good business practice to let this culture thrive within BC’s Support Team – I was asked by the Support Team member if I could provide prior screenshots of my problems… Yes he was serious!!!
    Does BC expect its partners to keep screenshot back up of all its sites? This is actually BC’s role within the partnership it has with all partners.
    I am now becoming afraid that BC is not providing the basic level of service to its partners & in fact has dropped the ball in relation to its this & wish to point out that BC has a duty of care to provide it partners with what we are all paying for.
    I also now that BC is under a lot of pressure currently to roll out some of the feature sets we have asked for as partners… but really, a strong emphasis should be placed on sorting the data centres & installing effective redundancy measures that work & protect partners from having to redo work that has already been done.
    Also it should be noted that I am not a newbie & have been a partner for just on 2 years now. I have over 100 sites on the BC platform, including Responsive BC – which is a responsive template solution for BC partners devloped by Matthew Knighton- MRK Developmet & Myself.
    Moving forward, I really hope that BC can address the above issues – therefore we can all prosper.
    Regards
    Brendon

  • "Print" to pdf function missing in Word and other strange print behaviour

    I'm trying to narrow down an issue I'm having with printing. I just noticed that the ability to creat a pdf in Word (print -> save as pdf) has disappeared. The button is now gone for some strange reason. I also noticed when trying to print a Keynote outline, when selecting ColorSync (print -> copies and pages [click and select ColorSync]) all my choices are gone (grayscale, b&w, etc.). Something's obviously wrong, but is it my printer software (HP 7310 aio) or OSX? My guess is the two issues are tied together.
    Also, I haven't added any new software to my computer and all software updates have been installed.
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    I have no idea whether this will help you or not, but IF some system software somewhow got corrupted, it should help.
    1. Download either OS 10.4.10 COMBO update for Intel or OS 10.4.10 COMBO update for PPC
    2. Run disk Utility Verify Disk
    3. Run Disk Utility Repair Permissions
    4. Reinstall OS 10.4.10 from the combo installer that you downloaded in (1).
    5. Run Disk Utility Repair Permissions
    6. Run  Software Update to make sure you have all the security patches that were released since the COMBO update was released.
    7. If you got downloads in (6), run Disk Utility Repair Permissions
    8. See whether you are working now

  • Computer slower and a few other strange problems since upgrading to SL

    Hi all,
    About a month ago, I upgraded my mid-2009 MBP to SL. I'm now on 10.6.1. Ever since the upgrade, my computer's been somewhat slower than it was when I ran Leopard (although many people I know say their machines are faster). I did restart several times at one point, and that seemed to speed it up, although it still experiences delays I didn't have before. I've also had a bunch of strange issues:
    1) Safari is most noticeably slow, especially when using something like Top Sites on Safari 4. I alleviated this problem somewhat by setting new tabs to open a blank window rather than Top Sites, but even so, Safari is generally slower, gives me 'pinwheels' often, and also is less stable.
    2) The other day, I restarted to find that all fonts except system fonts had been mysteriously deactivated. As a designer, I rely heavily on my many fonts, which I manage using Linotype FontExplorer.
    3) Today, I opened my computer up after having it sleeping in a backpack, and it had turned off. It was not out of battery; it had just turned off for no apparent reason.
    4) Judging by Activity Monitor, RAM is being used somewhat more heavily by the system, contrary to the advertisements of a 'lighter' footprint for SL as compared to Leopard. However, according to Activity Monitor (which I check frequently), the processor does not appear to be getting taxed any more heavily than under Leopard, which makes the sluggishness more inexplicable.
    5) Yesterday, I could not get my computer to recognize my Time Machine backup disc. After restarting, it worked, but this is a pain.
    I appreciate any advice I can get. Does anyone else have similar problems or solutions? Or is the general consensus that these are SL bugs that Apple will work out by about 10.6.4 or so?
    Thanks,
    Nathan

    I began this thread awhile ago, but the essence of it is that I had a number of strange problems, although mostly my computer was just slower, when upgrading from Leo to SL.
    I've now wiped my HD and re-installed SL. It seems faster, although there are still a few issues:
    1) iWork (Pages, Numbers) has very weird coloring. All the text looks light blue and/or cyan, and I can't fix it.
    2) Although initially Safari worked great, lately it's been going back to its habits of being slow and showing strange things like chopping up the 'Top Sites' view, i.e. rendering it in an off way.
    3) Adobe CS3 will not install properly. I get them loaded up, but when I try to launch a program, I get an error that says "licensing for this product has stopped working". I cannot get to the 'activate' page, even though I uninstalled and deactivated CS3.
    In the interest of full disclosure, I did restore my home account after clean installing SL-- maybe I should have brought the files over folder by folder rather than bringing back my whole home folder with its settings? I wonder if I accidentally brought over Adobe's FLEXnet folder too.
    Also, does anyone know if Adobe CS3 can cause these problems with Safari and other programs? It just seems that the whole machine was slower after installing CS3, even though I wasn't running the programs.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Nate

  • Strange happenings with text and links

    I am not very tech savy so be gentle. I have a blog on iweb. Today I posted and there is something going awry with my text. In a certain part it is hazy and stretched when you mouse over it the mouse pointer turns to a link. Very strange as I didn't place a link there.
    Also, as a side note, I was wondering how I would make my blog more noticed? Is there a way to make it search engine friendly, or are there any boards I can post it on?
    if it would be helpful here is a link to the blog:
    http://web.mac.com/hottee295/iWeb/Site%202/Blog/E4A931A9-D343-4CE2-9259-1F759532 5E09.html

    Are you sure you didn't make a hyperlink there? The link goes to...
    http://www.sewneau.com/how.to/flat.felled.seam.html
    ...which seems in keeping with the subject matter of your site.
    Anyways, look again in iWeb and make sure you did not inadvertantly put a hyperlink for the involved text. Otherwise, this stretched out text is usually indicative of a corruption of your link image. It's nothing to worry about as it is easily remedied by a "Publish All to .Mac" command.
    As far as getting your site indexed, you are doing the right thing by posting your URL here. It's a step in the right direction. Give it some time. You can also submit your iWeb URL here...
    http://www.google.com/addurl
    Just submit: http://web.mac.com/hottee295/iWeb/
    That should be sufficient.

  • Missing Screen Savers and other crazy happenings...

    I recently noticed that the screen saver list in my Screen Saver pref window is blank.  As a result, one I open this window, I generally lose control over my keyboard/mouse.  I am unable to quit, close the pref window, tab to other apps, etc.  I've tried copying the screen saver files from another user acct (which works fine) and pasting them into my main acct, but no luck.  I just did a reinstall of Snow Leopard from a full install disc, and still same problems (in fact, now Safari is acting very strange, tabing to bottom of page every time I use the space bar, quitting on me, etc).  I've been experiencing intermittent loss of keyboard control for several months now and am wondering if these are related.
    BTW: I know this is gouing to sound strange, but I have one more bit of info:  once, in a fit of rage at losing keyboard response in the middle of typing an important document, I just started clicking away at random on the keyboard.  Oddly, iTune openened up, and lo and behold, my keyboard came back and I was able to continue.  I now use this technique every time I lose keyboard/mouse app responsiveness, and as long as iTunes opens up, I get control back.  NOTE:  if I somehow don't happen to hit the keyboard shortcut that opens iTunes (frankly, I don't even know what it is, but I usually manage to hit it in my random key bashing), I don't get control back.
    Seeing as how this intermittent loss of keyboard/mouse response that I have been getting for some time now is exactly the same thing that happens when I open the screen saver control panel, I'm making the strecht assumption that somehow these are related.
    So there you have it.  My MacBook pain in a nutshell.  If anyone has any suggestions on how I can get ScreenSaver control panel to see my screen saver files again, please let me know.  I'd much appreciate it!
    Thanks in advance!!

    Ha!!  Found te answer by chance in a post from 2006 where user was having similar problem with desktop/screensaver control panel. The plists to delete are the com.apple.preferences.screensaver..... in the Home>Library>Preferences>ByHost folder. It is this last folder, "ByHost" that I didn't know to check. One I deleted the two screensaver related plist files and opened up the desktop/screensaver control panel, all the missing screensavers were once again listed, my hot corner worked and my keyboard/mouse click issue no longer happens.
    OH HAPPY DAY!!

  • Strange happenings with examples from Tom Kyte's book. 10 XE

    Hi all,
    I was twiddling my thumbs and decided to brush up on some of Oracle's fundamentals.
    Tom Kyte's book - Effective Oracle by Design. Examples on pp. 141 - 142 (to do with
    bind variables). Typed in the example and obtained a very strange system reaction.
    It consists of a package "DEMO_141_PKG" with 1 procedure "parse_bind_execute_close"
    which is called by the procedure QUICKFIX142.. The system then proceeds to go mental.
    If anybody could explain to me what's going on, I would be grateful. I'm running 10 XE on
    Ubuntu Linux.
    On running the code (below) I get this in the "Run" window of SQLDeveloper.
    Connecting to the database demo.
    ORA-01000: maximum open cursors exceeded

    ORA-06512: at line 2And the logging window of SQLDevloper just shows a continuous

    If you modify the called package by adding :
      -- CLOSE THE CURSOR
      dbms_sql.close_cursor(l_cursor);in
    procedure parse_bind_execute_close(p_input in varchar2)
    AS
      l_cursor number;

      dbms_sql.parse(l_cursor, 'SELECT * FROM Dual WHERE Dummy = :x', dbms_sql.native);
      dbms_sql.bind_variable(l_cursor, ':x', p_input);
      dbms_sql.define_column(l_cursor, 1, l_output, 4000);
      l_status := dbms_sql.execute(l_cursor);
      if(dbms_sql.fetch_rows(l_cursor) <= 0)
      then
        l_output := null;
      else
        dbms_sql.column_value(l_cursor, 1, l_output);
      end if;
      -- CLOSE THE CURSOR
      dbms_sql.close_cursor(l_cursor);
    END parse_bind_execute_close;
    END DEMO_141_PKG;Then script runs with default OPEN_CURSORS setting:
    SQL> connect / as sysdba
    Connected.
    SQL> show parameter open_c
    NAME                                 TYPE        VALUE
    open_cursors                         integer     300
    SQL> connect test/test
    Connected.
    SQL> exec quickfix142;
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.

  • Strange happenings

    Hi, I am currently in the middle of making a new site for a cycling club I am a member of (http://www.cqoz.com/16/) and I keep testing it but I am getting many varying results on different browsers. Even Safari is not good, as it gets some sttrange question marks in blank spaces, as does Camino web browser. Internet Explorer just alters the position of lots of things, and Firefox and Opera have strange markings in blank spaces as well.Surely this was taken into consideration when Apple made this product. I have used Freeway a fair bit, and these problems don't occur. I know it can be said that iWeb is going to be used by Apple users, so it will run OK in Safari, but surely everyone knows that if we are making a website, it will be viewed by an audience where the vast majority are going to be using Windows and Internet Explorer, so it surely should be designed to cater for this.
    Anyway , can anyone spread any light on my problem, and why I am getting the strange marks even with Safari?? Thanks, John

    why I am getting the strange marks
    Because your ftp settings are wrong. See this note

  • Infinite Incoming Messages and other Strange things...

    I am currently experiencing an issue where Mac OS X Mail shows that there are "Incoming Messages... 10 of 25", However, the 'downloading bar' hasn't budged for the last few days, and I have received no incoming messages. This issue has just suddenly occurred one morning when I woke up and I can find no cause for it yet. It is definitely not a problem with anything other than Mail.app as my iPod Touch is receiving the emails fine on the same WiFi connection. I have tried everything including restarts to fix the problem, and so far nothing has worked. Something even stranger, is that another account in Mail is receiving emails, but delayed by several hours behind my iPod Touch.
    And stranger still, whilst I say I have been receiving no messages, I have actually been receiving one.... over and over and over again... it's now reached 15 times. Exactly the same email, same 'Date Received', same everything. So I don't want my mailbox filled up with the same duplicate email so I select them all and hit delete. Gone... However, if I click in another part of Mail and then come back to my inbox... Gasp! All of my duplicate emails have mysteriously re-appeared from the garbage So I thought I'd try deleting another random email, but the same thing happened... it had soon come back from the dead and popped back into my Inbox.
    So I've done all of the obvious things like Quit Mail, and restart the computer, but nothing has worked so far. And one more odd thing... Each time I re-open Mail another one of those duplicate emails arrives.
    If anyone has any ideas what so ever on what could be causing this issue or ways I could fix it, I'd love to hear them and would appreciate any responses.
    Thanks a lot and I look forward to any posts.
    Cheers,
    Cuby

    I am having pretty much the same problem. Every time I start mail it downloads the same emails over again and gets stuck on 56 of 199. I have tried deleting the cache, but that didn't help.
    Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
    Cheers,

  • Disk space vanishing, other strange behavior

    In the last two days TechTool has been announcing that my free disk space is getting low. Started at 15%, but it keeps dropping down to 1%. I've deleted about 100GB of data in the last two days, but it isn't helping.
    Checked my log files which aren't ridculously big. None of my processes are using a fraction of the 160GB+ it shows as being allocated to VM. Some strange log entries in console related to MacHelper, but I don't think I ever installed it. Ran an uninstaller just in case.
    Prior to this happening some other odd things have been happening for a week or so:
    External drives aren't dismounting correctly. Click eject and the name remains grayed out and if I unplug the drive I get chided for removing a drive.
    System hangs and requires forced restart. Hangs during restart on the desktop image.
    Had some trouble with an external e-sata drive dismounting all the time using the card slot adaptor for e-Sata. Card would get extremely hot. Used FW800 but had strange behavior with 5 additional drives reminiscent of SCSI. Once I changed the cables around it stopped doing this.

    You may not have gotten all of MacKeeper. From an earlier post of mine:
    I'd search for it using EasyFind. Enter "MacKeeper" and "Zeobit." Set EF to scan all files and folders, invisible, case insensitive, package contents. Search using boolean and phrase. It will probably do a more thorough job than Spotlight. If you can't "Destroy" from EF, use Reveal in Finder to trash and authenticate from there.
    It is also known to install a Windows emulator called "wine;" search for that.
    Also, look in the Keychain for anything MacKeeper or zeobit related, and for its cookies in your browser. When finished, empty the Trash and restart.

    Somehow, as BDAqua suggested, I'm still suspecting it's the logs filling up with a constantly repeating message. Are there any other Users? Can you log in to those and see what's going on with those logs?
    Permissons repair has nothing to do with this.
    Get OmniDisk Sweeper. Run it logged in to all your users.

  • Strange happenings on my G5!

    Hi - maybe someone can help. Diff menu options on my G5 Apple menu are doubling up (so there are 2 x Restart, 2 x Shut Down, 2 x Log Out). Also, when I select an icon on my desktop a thin black border appears around it.
    I thought it might be disk corruption but First Aid found nothing. I've installed latest updates (OSX 10.4.8) and dumped any font related preferences as I know fonts can cause strange behaviour. Anyone had this?
    Thanks, Andy

    If you haven't already done so, resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM has been known to cure weird stuff like this.

  • Lost all previously sync'd emails and other strange things.....

    Yesterday I noticed some odd things on my BB and was wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar.
    1.  When I went into my phone to make a call around mid-day, the typical call log file was empty - first strange thing.
    2.  After I sent an SMS it was in listed in my mail as a sent message but then it would disappear from view.  The users received the message but my record of it disappeared without me deleting it.
    3.  I lost all previously sync'd emails from my corporate email before 4:56 PM yesterday.  Although emails from my comcast account which I sync still appeared.
    4.  When I looked at available memory it was 0% and then it slowly crept up to 14038765 bytes
    Based on number 4 above, am I to assume my BB dumped items due to a memory issue?
    Understanding that  can be the case I am still losing records of IM's received and sent without me deleting them.
    Any thoughts from the forum members are welcome.
    Lastly - what does Theme Controlled mean under General Options/ SMS and Email Inboxes?
    Have a nice day -

    Grapechic, this probably has to do with your device memory. Please see the article below (pulled from the support page on blackberry.com).
    Call and SMS logs disappear when BlackBerry smartphone is low on memory
    Doc ID : KB11570
    Last Modified : 2007-05-17
    Document Type : Support
    Environment
    BlackBerry® smartphone
    BlackBerry Device Software 4.2
    ProblemWhen the BlackBerry smartphone is low on memory, Short Message Service (SMS) logs and call logs disappear.
    CauseWhen the BlackBerry smartphone becomes critically low on memory, SMS messages and call logs will automatically be deleted in order to keep a minimum amount of free space available. This functionality is by design.
    ResolutionIf the BlackBerry smartphone becomes low on memory, try the following:
    Check how much memory is currently available. See KB04353 for further information.
    Ensure that media is saved on the media card, and not on the BlackBerry smartphone.
    Since web browsing results in cached files on the BlackBerry smartphone try clearing the browser cache. See KB03865 for further information.
    Lower the reserved picture memory setting. See KB12383 for further information.
    Use the application loader tool to remove any unused applications, such as themes, ring tones, or third-party applications.
    Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry smartphone. Check the available memory after the hard reset. See KB02141 for further information.
    If the issue still persists, perform the following, checking the available memory after each step.
    Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry smartphone. For instructions see KB02141. Then clear unnecessary calls logs and phone messages.
    Remove Phone Call and SMS log databases from the BlackBerry smartphone. See KB03974 for further information.
    Perform an application load to erase all applications and install the latest BlackBerry Device Software. See KB03621 for further information.
