'Other' stuff on my ipod

When i sync my iPod, it states that there is 2.49GB of 'Other' (not music, photos, games,or pics). How do I determine what extra stuff is on there and more importantly, how do I get rid of it?

Hey Bigblock31,
Its hard to say what the other data is, try viewing the contents of the iPod in Explorer.

To erase that other data and recover the space restore the iPod.

    I really need help!

I don't think you understood what I wrote. You don't HAVE to pay for everything if you are happy with using the other account for updates, etc. But if you don't want to do that then you will have to buy new copies of everything for the new account. There's only one purchase item per account, but you can redownload an item in the account many times.
    The idea is this:
One computer, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
One user, multiple devices, one Apple ID.
The basic idea is that each user has an Apple ID under which he/she can manage multiple devices on a single computer.
Once you step outside of that model you create such problems as not being able to use or update apps purchase under one Apple ID when using a different Apple ID. Or not being able to easily sync one device on more than one computer.

  • How can i get rid of all of the "other" stuff on my ipod.

I can't get it and my ipod is over capacity because of the "other" stuff on there .

An other less that about 1 1/2 GB is normal.
If larger that large usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.  Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:

To restore to factory settings/new iPod see:

  • IPod Nano 2G with 1Gb of "Other" stuff!?

    Hi,
I gave my iPod Nano (2G) to my daughter recently. Before I did, I restored it and put a bunch of her music onto it. It needed to be charged, so I plugged it in last night only to find all the music gone. I charged it and replaced all the music files, but now I'm noticing that when I look at the Nano's summary, it gives me this info: Audio 163 songs...Other 1 Gb.
What's the "Other" stuff?? I can't find any other files on it.

    Hello David,
The Other section consists of such things as files stored externally on your iPod, album artwork, games, the iPod's software, and sometimes corrupt files leftover from failed syncs of your iPod with iTunes.
1 GB is unusually large, so I would recommend restoring the iPod via iTunes to see if that helps.

You need to restore you iPod to gedure the "other" to its normal of less than 0.5 GB.  A restore from backup works if the large other is not in the backup.  Make sure that you turn off outo syncing (iTunes>Preferences>Device and check the box that says Prevent iPOds....syncing.  Otherwise, the backup will contain the other.

My friend put cydia on my ipod and other stuff from it like something who slide your apps differently. How can I remove the both, I really want, plz help ...?

They hacked it and may have caused damage to your device. Jailbreaking also voids your warranty and support from Apple. To restore to a clean state, restore in Recovery Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • I have a Ipod nano with only 128 songs (6mb) with no videos or anything but 128 songs..the ipod summary says i have 3.02GB of  "other"...what is this "other" stuff and how can i get rid of it so i can have more songs on my ipod?!

    ..

The Other section on your iPod consists of a number of different things, including album artwork, your iPod's software, files you may be storing externally on it, games, and a few other things. However, it can usually include corrupt files from failed sync operations with iTunes.  Usually the Other section should only be a small fraction of what's stored on your iPod, usually less than 1 GB.
So it sounds like your iPod may be corrupt, in which case you'll need to connect it to iTunes and restore it to factory settings.

  • The other section on my iPod touch is 1.73GB!

Connected my iPod touch (4th Generation) to iTunes and noticed how high the 'other' section on it is. I do not have much album artwork or many notes or contacts. Why is the 'other' stuff taking up so much memory on my iPod and how can I delete it? Thanks

Sometimes the Other section also includes corrupted files that are no longer readable by iTunes or your iPod Touch.  The only way to shrink it down to a more appropriate size is to restore your iPod via iTunes.  See this article for more help and information on restoring your device.
iTunes: Backing up, updating, and restoring iOS software
If a restore from backup does not resolve the size of Other then it's likely something in the backup and you'll want to restore it to factory defaults instead.

  • Can i transfer the stuff on my ipod touch on to my ipad?

Can i transfer the stuff on my ipod touch on to my ipad?

It depends upon what "stuff" you mean. Maybe this:
    App Store - Bluetooth FileShare
If you want to make an Pad like the iPod, you can make one final backup of the iPod and then restore the iPad from the backup of the iPad. If you do this via iTunes vice iCloud), all the synced media like apps and music have to be in the iTunes library.

  • Getting stuff of my ipod onto my Windows computer, what app does this?

    Hello,
So I have a Mac at home and a Windows at work. I had my ipod synced to my Mac at home and it now has all the TV shows, music etc. on it. Then I switched it to sync manually thinking it would then work at work. Well I have XPlay which allows me to plug it in at work on my Windows but then when I plug it in at work it says do you want to sync with this computer and I don't since I have nothing on my itunes at work yet.
So is there an app for PC that allows you to get stuff off your ipod onto your computer so then I can put all that stuff on my Windows itunes at work? I know there is a Mac app that does this called ipod viewer and it's freeware or ipod access which isn't freeware.
    Anything like this for Windows?

    deggie,
Thanks, I've heard of that one for Mac as well. I'll give it a try tomorrow at work and see if it works for me.

  • How do i transfer all the stuff from my ipod to my new ipad

How do I transfer all the stuff from my ipod to my new ipad

Assuming that the iPod is an iPod Touch - Restore the new iPad from a backup of the iPod and follow that with a sync with iTunes.
Connect the iPod to your computer and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPod name under devices and select transfer purchases. After that completes, right click on the iPad name again and select backup. Eject the iPod.
Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes if it is not already running. If prompted to set up as new or restore from a backup - select the backup of the iPod. If not prompted, right click on the iPad name on the left under devices and select - restore from backup. Select the iPod backup in the pop up window. Let the process complete and then sync with iTunes.

  • Can i transfer the stuff off my ipod onto my new computer

I have had to get a new computer as my old one broke and no longer works is there any way of getting the stuff off my ipod onto my new computer without losing what is currently on my ipod?
All you help would be greatly appreciated

Hello, friend. If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
    1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
    2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
    3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod. And here is a step by step guide show you how to transfer iPod music to Mac computer or iTunes library, hope it helps.
I have been try your method, it can help me, thanks a lot.As I know Coolmuster iPhone iPad iPod to computer can also transfer iPod music to computer.

  • How can I fit 1000 tracks onmy 4gig nano and get rid of the (other stuff)

I have an other stuff category accroding to itunes. Itunes already turned off podcasts for me, but I can only get 947 songs and not the full 1000. What can I do to maxmize the storage so it is all music and nothing else?

Other can be comprised of a number of things, contacts, notes and album artwork for example. If you feel that the Other category is being incorrectly stated restore your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPods hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7
The advertised song capacity of iPod is based on 4 minute songs encoded in AAC format at a bit rate of 128 kbps. Longer songs and songs encoded at a higher bitrate take up more space. 947 is pretty close to the advertised number so you may not get many more on if they don't fit Apple's baseline format: iTunes: About import settings and hard disk space
