Other ways to add shots to a project without using Reconform

Question

I have a 15 minute movie that has a lot of filters, motion effects, and variable speeds. I tried to follow Walter Biscardi's tutorial here...

...exporting every clip that needs it as a quicktime and reimporting the "Baked" clip, but I unfortunately didn't get them all. On top of that, my Director came to me recently and told me about 3 changes he wanted.
I made the changes and exported the new changed sequence XML and tried to Reconform in Color but it freezes up and quits every time.
Is there any way for me to make these changes to the Color project without using Reconform? Any way I can manually replace or add shots to my Color project?

Michael Sandness has better luck with Reconform than I do, in that it apparently works for him and it flat out doesn't work for me. Best advice is to work with your original sequence -- duplicate it, then TREAT THE DUPLICATE as your backup. Continue reconforming on the ORIGINAL, and export an XML that you use to reconform inside the original COLOR project.
Failing all that, don't add new clips to your original unless absolutely, pain of death, forced to do it (especially if its a locked XML sent to... FCP workflow). Instead create a new COLOR project, either by creating a new sequence with your revulsions, pardon me, revisions, and do cut and paste import/export of grades from the original COLOR project, or a whole new prject and directly import the clips. If you're not familiar with cross copying grades between projects, open the original project, save the grades that you want to copy into some easily accessible directory, save, close, open the new project, navigate to that directory, and drag/drop, click, whatever it takes.
