  • Are there 3rd party web cams that work with Mac?

I bounght an iMac G5 just before iSight was built in. Recently I went to but the iSight camera, but it is no longer sold seperately. Tried an off-the-shelf Logitech cam but to no avail. Is there a 3rd party cam that will work????

    Check http://www.applechat.info/
P.S. And considering you have no MacBook Pro according to your profile, and it has its own built-in iSight, you might seriously want to consider posting further questions about your machine in the appropriate forum, if I can't answer them. First determine if your iMac is indeed a G5:

Before you start MSN disable Camera Assistant Software. When MSN starts try please to check cam functionality under Audio and Video Setup. On step 3 you will have Webcam Setup.
Please select there Chicony USB 2.0 Camera.
The camera should start and in test window you should have picture.
    Can you use it now?

  • A Camera That Works With FCE?

I just got a JVC and its kinda a joke. I have to go through like 20 steps to get my video files off my Hard Drive Camera and into a format editable on FCE.
Does anyone have a nice camera, around $1,500 or so that has good quality and works well the Apple computers and FCE?
    Thanks again.

I have the Sony HDR-SR8 camera that works with FCE. Tried it last night. Was able to import video from the camera. Hooked the camera up through the USB port and the camera showed up as an ICON on the desktop. In FCE I was able to import the clips. Pretty cool. Haven't done any editing yet.
Sony has come out with newer models than mine and the picture quality should be fantastic.

  • Have any dentists found a good intraoral camera that works with an iPad?

I Am a veterinarian doing dental work on horses- I would like to find an intraoral camera to work with my iPad Air so as to show clients - wifi or blue tooth?? App??

The iPad cannot print via BT.  It uses wifi with built-in AirPrint or an app from the printer manufacturer, i.e. HP, Epson, etc.  Both devices need to be on the same wifi network.

  • Other music purchases that work with iTunes?

Where else can you download music that works with iTunes other than Apple? Specifically sites that don't charge a monthly subscription. I like the pay-per-song/album.
The whole "$20" fiasco has left such a bad taste in my mouth, I don't want to give them any more of my money.

Amazon's new Music service is non-DRM'd MP3's, so they'll work fine with iTunes..I believe they even provide an app that will automatically add them to iTunes after downloading to make it seamless.

  • Web cam stopped working with Windows 7 (but works fine with Ubuntu Live CD).

Since two days my web cam stopped working. I am using Windows 7 64 bit and I have a Toshiba L505d S5992. It does not show in Device Manager and Windows Update doesn't recognize it, manually I can not install it, so my best guess it was broken.
But then I tried the LiveDVD of Ubuntu 10.10 (64 bit) and it recognized immediately my web cam and the blue light came on. I have no clue what happened with Windows 7 but it's getting very frustrating.
Any help would be very welcome at this point.

Download the webcam application for your unit from this website.
Uninstall it on the programs and features then installed the downloaded webcam application.
Hope this will help you solve the issue.

  • Is there anyone who can recommend a network Camera that works with OS X10.9

I just upgraded to Mavericks and love the OS.  I just updated my printer to an HP that is compatible with Macericks and it works wonderfully!  Now I am looking to add a network camera that allows multi camera viewing and can be viewed on my Iphone or Ipad or Macbook, etc.  Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on what to try.  All the major brands that have high ratings are compatible with 10.6 or 10.7, but I see no mention of 10.9 - any suggestions would be great!

For what it's worth, I purchased the Axis 207W. Indeed it worked with Safari via Bonjour.
The setup took a while to figure out, but wasn't any more difficult than setting up a wireless router.
With things set properly I can view the camera from anywhere on the Internet and get e-mails sent when motion is detected by the camera.
All this and it works well with my Apple set up (laptops and Airports).

  • I need a router that works with Apple eMac OS 10.3 and is WEP encryption capable.

The WRT54G router has been recommended by TV provider Sky Angle. (I will receive Sky Angle over my DSL modem and must send signal to my TV via wireless router.)
But, I use an Apple eMac running OS 10.3. 1GHz that the router must be compatible with. And, before I buy, I want to get the fastest, newest, compatible version of a wireless router in hopes it will work with any new Apple lap top that I hope to get. Please help! I can't find any way to ask this question to the LINKSYS web site or company. Additionally, what is "G" mode or "N" mode: that might be important in the ultimate model of router to buy.
Thanks very much for any help.

You can buy WRT300N. For more information on this product you can browse website www.linksys.com

  • Video Cameras that work with Mac software...

I am a new Mac user (3 months and still learning) and My wife is a photo freak. She is wanting to get a new camcorder and start editing some of the footage she gets. Which camcorders out there have people had success with on the Mac??? We currently have a low end Sony that will not work. It does not have a USB connection and burns footage to miniCDs. We're looking for something that we can plug in and get to editing. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Any DV or HDV camera will work (writes to MinDV casettes and has a firewire port for DV video transfer). Prices range from about $175 to $6000.
Other than that, cameras that record MPEG4 and can be accessed as USB mass storage devices will work too. With those, you are sacrificing quality of the video for the speed of transfer to the computer (DV and HDV transfer 1 minute of video in 1 minute). With MPEG4 video, the data has already been compressed and encoded with some quality loss.
There are also DVD/MPEG2 recording cameras. These have very similar properties to the MPEG4 ones but require additional software on the Mac, and, if mini-DVD, require an external DVD drive.
Personally, for home video I use a Canon ZR100 -- very small and simple camera. Quite basic, but I get pretty decent results (particularly outdoors). I'd prefer a nice 3-CCD model but that just wasn't in the budget at the time (maybe soon).

  • Need digital camera that works with Quicksilver

I need a relatively cheap digital camera that will work with a G4 Quicksilver. I know I'll probably have to get a used one, but that's OK. I just have no idea which older brands or models will work with a Power Mac. Anybody have any suggestions?

Cameras often allow a direct USB cable connection to a computer. This could possibly lead to compatibility problems, depending upon the requirements for each camera.
For cameras with a flash memory card slot (many modern models have one), an alternative solution would be to use an appropriate USB memory card reader connected to the computer. One could then move the memory card (for example, SD or CompactFlash) to the USB reader. The transfer is usually relatively fast, and no power is drawn from the camera batteries. The G4 should not have difficulties reading files from memory cards.

  • Do cameras that work with Imovie also work with Final cut pro x?

I have a Sony Bloggie (MHS-PM5) that is compatible with Imovie, will it also work with Final Cut Pro X.

    It does work!

  • Is there a list of other cell phones that work with iTunes?

I'm thinking of going with Verizon and was just wondering if certain of their phones will work. Thanks.

The only phones that work directly with iTunes, other than the iPhone, are a few of Motorola's phones such as certain models of the RAZR, ROKR, and SLVR. You'll want to check with Motorola or ask Verizon which models are iTunes-equipped.
Other phones may be able to use iTunes tracks even though they may not be able to sync directly from iTunes. Any phone that can mount on a Mac as a normal hard drive and accept tracks dragged to the phone should work, assuming that the tracks are in a supported format (MP3 almost always is supported, AAC a bit less common. Copy-protected tracks from the iTunes Store require an iTunes-equipped phone). There may be phones that are compatible with Mac and have their own software, but I'm can't mention any specific models.
    Hope this helps.
