Others can hear a ton of background noise when talking on the iphone 5
When I'm using my headset to talk with others the background noise is extremely loud. I have tried the earpods that came with the phone and the background noise cuts in and out and have tried Bose headsets and the noise sounds awaful....like a wind tunnel to others. Any advice on how to help or take care of this problem?
Every time I try to talk to my wife when using the Iphone 5 with Earpods, or any other headset for that matter, she complains that the mic on my phone headset is picking up EVERY SINGLE SOUND and amplifying it so loud that she can hardly hear my voice over all the background noise.... I have replecated this problem now 10 different iphone5 of my friends.... which is every single iphone 5. Without fail they all have this same issue. It is not my wifes phone either. People always complain when I am using my headset. ESPECIALLY when I am trying to comply with new laws requireing hands free phone usage. It is unacceptable for Apple to have failed in fixing this problem. I have spoken with several customer service reps/Genius's about this and there is no fix to date. I have upgraded my iphone5 to all latest versions of iOS with the hopes that Apple will one day fix this problem with a software update. Will someone please help us!!!!! I doubt my Apple loyalty will last without a fix to this massive inconvienence.

Clean iPhone charging port with clean dry toothbrush. See if better. If still problem clean charging port again with toothbrush and small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol.

Go to System Preferences / Sound and click on the Input button. You should see two items listed in the device menu: the Internal Microphone and Line In. (There may be others if you also are using your USB or Firewire ports for input devices.)
Select Internal Microphone and adjust the Input Volume control to the far left (minimum). This will mute the computer's internal microphone.
Then select the Line-In (or other device) and adjust the input level as needed to make your recording.

Can Logic plug ins remove background noise from interview?
A friend with an important interview recorded in noisy conditions has asked me to help remove background noise - never done this technically.
Is there a Logic or third party plug in that would could remove background noise from a spoken word interview? Have tried EQ which improves the sound slightly but not a solution.
Anyone with specialised knowledge of this sound editing operation?

MSThere are several 3rd party denoisers, they mostly work by first 'learning' the noise footprint of the audio, for which it is best to record a few seconds of silence (with an open mic).

Is it that background noise (traffic, talking etc) drowns out the words? Then you'd probably have more luck with (radical) eq-ing and/or notch filtering to find the most dominant frequency range of the speaker in relation to the background noise.
As an interviewer myself I will point out that even with a small disctaphone you need to have some awareness of how the microphone picks up things. As soon as you nead to lean towards whoever you're talking to, just to make sure you're audible, the dictaphone on the table is probably recording mainly ambient noise, the interview being part of that. This is especially a problem when interviewing in a busy public space. -

Lessening background noise when Amplifying a sound file (post noise reduction)
I have a video I have been tryng to clean up, that was filmed in an environment with some amount of background noise.
I managed to get the audio cleaned up to a leveI was happy with (but still retained a minimal amount of almost unoticable noise to keep the voise still sounding ok).
It sounds fine and perfectly loud in headphones but on some computer speakers even turned up to full volume you can barely hear it. (in the future I will try to film with a higher volume)
I attempted a few different methods to Amplify the sound slightly but this also increases the reminant of background noise.
Along with the basic Amplify, and Normalise I have also tried using a Hard Limiter (I don't know if I was doing it right though as it also increased the Background noise)
Can someone provide any pointers to only amplify the Voice and not the background noise? or possibly even suggest a way I can clean up the reminant background noise without causing the voice to become hollow and Tinny? Obviously redoing the Noise removal process just makes the voice more Hollow.
In the future should I Amplify first and then run the noise removal?
I am using Audition CS6In Audition, Noise Reduction always seems to work best if applied in small steps, with different settings for each. The setting that makes absolutely the most difference is the FFT size you use. The thing to do at the outset is to use the default setting (4096 I think) but don't take too much off with that. Then change the FFT size to the maximum setting, take a new noise print from the results of your previous pass, and take the rest off with this setting. By doing this, you'll find that you can take away more noise before artefacts start to creep in.
It doesn't actually matter about the level of your signal when you apply NR, but to be sensible about it, in order to be able to monitor the results effectively, you should normalize it first, to around -1 or -2dB. The concept of amplifying a signal without amplifying the noise in it implies making the dynamics non-linear, and whilst that's possible to a degree with the Dynamics Processor, it's generally not a good idea - it makes everything seem completely unnatural-sounding. -

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

I can record voice memos fine using the built-in iPhone 4 mic. And my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone Era) works fine when I leave messages on voice mail systems etc. when calling on the iPhone 4, so it appears my headset mic is fine. I can also use voice activated dialing, although it fails miserably interpreting numbers. However, I cannot record voice memos with my Bluetooth mic. I just get barely audible static. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.

I would like to know if "Restore Backup" to my new phone will load up all the information I have which backed up from my other phone. I only "clicked" on "Backup" when I connected the new phone to my computer. I was afraid to click on "Restore Backup" to have all the other information I had from my other iPhone load up to my new iPhone. Hope you can help. How can you get your iPod touch open when you forgot the password and its disabled and not connected to the Internet Connection and you don't want to reset it.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

What version of iPhoto and system are you running? On the guess that you're running the latest iPhoto, 9.4.2, Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the thumnails, Option #2.
2 - It may take 2-3 attempts so don't give up after only one attempt.

If I understand the issue correctly, you have recently purchased a used iPhone and you do not see your Apple TV in the control center in order to AirPlay. To troubleshoot this issue please follow the steps outlined below.
Try these steps first
Make sure that you have the latest software on your iOS device and Apple TV.
Make sure that both devices have Wi-Fi turned on.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Network.
If you're trying to use peer-to-peer AirPlay, make sure that both devices have Bluetooth turned on.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Bluetooth.
If you don't see AirPlay in Control Center
When an AirPlay-enabled device is available, you'll see AirPlay in Control Center on your iOS device.
If you don't, try these steps:
Restart your iOS device and Apple TV.
Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
