OTN everybody wins

Its very good to ask question i really appreciate that ..but the thing is when ever some one trys to answer ur question expects to give him some points if he/she gives valid points in his comments or even some help,tips
there many people like JOHN, CL , Gleen ... who gives
I dont understand whats the problem when some one takes his time to answer question and many people dont even look at that to give him some points and simply close that thread and opens new...
Try give some respect to THE PEOPLE
Its not to hurt u MY DEAR but i have been closing watching some people who simply ask qs and dont even try to give some points
OTN is a GAME where every body wins no one loses .. the person who asks it and people who give valid view of comment ...I really appreciate the people who really trys there best to help others ..
Pls dont kill that attitude ...

Hi Friend,
I am completely agree with you.... If some one think that answer satisfies your question then give some points....

  • Router for cable AND DSL at the same time?

    Can I get cable and DSL service and buy a router that will run both at the same time? I'm looking at the Linksys RV016, RV042 and RV082 routers; and the D-Link DI-LB604 Load Balancing Router. It looks like they'll do this but the webpages don't say that clearly. My Comcast cable service is fast (up to 6Mbps downloads) when it's working and the neighbors are asleep, but the speed drops to around 2kbps at other times. Qwest DSL is guaranteed 256Kbps.
    Also, is there a wi-fi transceiver that detects and uses unused bandwidth on neighbors' Internet connections? My house picks up 7 neighbors' wi-fi transceivers. If we're all on the same cable service it wouldn't matter if I transferred bandwidth to a neighbor's service. But if some houses have DSL and some have cable, then the DSL users could get extra speed in the mornings when the cable is fast. The cable users would get extra speed in the evening when cable is slower than DSL. Everybody wins.

    no problems.
    There is a priority order when multiple networking interfaces are available.
    Ethernet is higher than Airport in the order.
    If both ethernet and Airport interfaces are connected to the network, then ethernet becomes the primary networking interface.
    If nothing is plugged into the ethernet port, then Airport will get control.

  • Transaction Locking during multiple Webservice - persistent webs sessions

    Hi All,<br>
    <br>
    Yesterday evening we had a discussion concerning ESA architecture. We want to create (web)services for accessing the SAP business objects (using XI) and use these (web)services via visual composer, webdynpro or custom java development.<br>
    <br>
    It does not seem a big problem to perform creations and reads of transaction, but when we want to change objects, we saw some problems concerning locking/commiting and rollbacks.<br>
    <br>
    From our GUI we would like to be able to go in edit mode and from that moment on, the transaction should be locked. We then want to change certain parameters and commit only when we push the save button.<br>
    <br>
    We can invoke a webservice wich tries to lock the transaction, but at the moment the XI scenario is completed (=the lock is created), the program at SAP side (=proxy in our case) is also finished and the lock is automaticly removed. How can we do locking, when using webservices via XI?<br>
    <br>
    The problem of the rollback and commit we can partially solve by putting more logic in the GUI, but we don't want to do that. How can we do a change of a business object and remember this change without doing a commit on the SAP system.... . Same problem for the rollback.<br>
    <br>
    Is there a away to keep a session "alive" during multiple webservice calls or to simulate it? Every webservice invokation happens in a different context...isn't it?<br>
    <br>
    <br>
    <b>Just to make it a bit more clear.</b><br>
    <br>
    Suppose we create 6 service related to the business object bupa (business partner).<br>
    - read<br>
    - change<br>
    - commit<br>
    - rollback<br>
    - lock<br>
    - unlock.<br>
    <br>
    We create a GUI which uses these services.<br>
    <br>
    <b>Step1:</b> we want to see bupa in detail, so the read webservice is called and the retrieved details are shown in the GUI<br>
    <b>Step2:</b> we want to go in edit mode, so the lock webservice is called to lock the bupa. The bupa should stay locked, untill the unlock is called. Here occurs the problem. The webservice lock is called, XI will trigger the proxy on the SAP system. This proxy will lock the bupa. As soon as the proxy-program is completed, the bupa lock will automaticly be removed ... . We want to keep this lock!<br>
    <b>Step3:</b> we change the bupa using the change webservice. Only the user who locked the bupa should be able to change it.<br>
    Problem concerning the locking occurs: standard we don't know who locked the bupa (this is done by the generic RFC user, configured in sm59). Should we pass some kind of GUID towards the proxy and build some additional logic to know which end-user in fact locked it... . Using the userid isn't sufficient, because a user could logon multiple time simultanously.<br>
    <br>
    Another problem is that we want to change the bupa, without having to do a commit yet.De commit should be called only when pushing the save button. When the proxy is ended and we did not do a commit, the changes are lost normally ... .<br>
    <br>
    What we in fact want to do is Simulate the bsp behaviour.<br>
    <b>Step4:</b>We want to perform a save of the things we changed or a reset. This means the commit or rollback webservice is called.<br>
    <b>Step5:</b> We want to unlock the bupa by calling the unlock webservice.<br>
    <br>
    <br>
    Please give me your comments.<br>
    <br>
    Kind regards<br>
    Joris<br>

    There are multiple strategies how to resolve this. They require that the last change time is available in the changed object, and also that the client keeps the value of the change time when it read the data.
    1. First one wins
    Immediately before posting the changes, the current change time is read from the server. In case it is different from the client buffer, then the client changes are discarted.
    Example:
    1. Client A reads data
    2. Client B reads data
    3. Client B changes its buffer
    4. Client B checks if server change time has changed (result is no)
    5. Client B writes his changes to the server
    6. Client A changes its buffer
    7. Client A checks if server change time has changed (result is yes)
    8. Client A discarts its changes
    2. Last one wins
    Easy. Client just writes his changes to the server, overwriting any changes that might have occured since it read the data.
    Example:
    1. Client A reads data
    2. Client B reads data
    3. Client B changes its buffer
    4. Client B writes his changes to the server
    5. Client A changes its buffer
    6. Client A writes its changes to the server -> changes from client B are lost
    3. Everybody wins
    Most complicated. In case of concurrent changes, the client is responsible for merging his changes with the changes from other clients and to resolve any conflicts.
    Example:
    1. Client A reads data
    2. Client B reads data
    3. Client B changes its buffer
    4. Client B checks if server change time has changed (result is no)
    5. Client B writes his changes to the server
    6. Client A changes its buffer
    7. Client A checks if server change time has changed (result is yes)
    8. Client A merges its changes with changes from client B
    9. Client A writes his changes to the server
    "Last one wins" is definitely not water-proof. But even with the other strategies, data can potentially get lost in the short timeframe when the change time is checked and the actual update.
    To make it more secure, server support is required. E.g. the client could pass the change time from its read access to the server. The server can then reliably reject the update if the change data has been updated in beetween by another client.

  • What's going on with PB 15?

    Does anybody have any feedback about PB 15?  I believe the Beta version has been out for quite some time.  It seems like I should be hearing something by now.

    Yes I did, but was tired last night and apparently didn't see many of the 179 PB 15 Beta comments.  Maybe another main posting would be in order to start the stream over; PB 15 Beta has expired ...  Any comments on the following assessments appreciated:
    You might want to "follow" the development center and then watch the "communications" portion of the site.  That will show you new content so you don't have to read back through old stuff.
    PB has been is such a state of disarray after being takin over that many businesses felt at risk.  Business’s decided to resist expanding PB development.  Some like our shop/NYS has let the PB talent dwindle making it even more of a risk area; long story.  However, even after a few years of turmoil, many of the PB applications are still alive because of the rich functionality they provide.  Developers don’t want to or can’t leave the product because they have been spoiled.  Since 1982 I went from COBOL (7 yrs) to MODEL204 (5 yrs) to FOXPRO (3 yrs) to PB (17 yrs).  Learning .NET (maybe Java, maybe C*) most of the time made me felt sick (long story). Many users like the applications they use, but the IT people are crying wolf.  Replacement systems have not even been started or have cost a substantial amount of money attempting/performing.  Odd how companies can spend volumes of money and resources trying to build a comparable solution instead of saving money going with a tried and true product.  I guess that’s the catch.  PB existing as a product including its support and reputation have been in jeopardy.
    You're preaching to the choir here.  That's why I started a couple of online petitions to SAP concerning PowerBuilder:
    https://www.causes.com/campaigns/532-convince-sap-to-take-some-positive-action-with-regard-to-powerbuilder
    http://www.change.org/petitions/sap-ag-release-and-recognize-powerbuilder-15
      Even today, it appears customers still go to the Sybase site to obtain EBFs; it
    makes you wonder.
    Not after then end of this month.  That's when SAP support (for all products, not just PowerBuilder) will be finally migrated over to the SAP systems.  When that happens, EBFs will no longer be available from the Sybase site.
         2. PB 15 Beta has ended/expired.  To me this would imply that the product is going to be released soon.  But is this true?  Maybe I am missing something, but I still don’t see something that makes me feel safe.
    I'm not too intimately familiar with the SAP product release cycle.  What I do know is that (a) they don't give out much if any information until they actually release and (b) the BIT Partner Beta Test that was conducted in Waldorf last month is one of the final steps in the release "ramp up".  The big problem is that we're not used to the SAP process and so believe that silence means nothing is happening.  That may be the case, but it may be that a lot is happening.  With SAP there is no way to know.
    SAP should consider rewarding customers who still are using PB.  A commitment showing appreciation for their dedication.  Maybe special training, licensing, support, or whatever it takes to get back on track.  SAP should consider the expenditure as a promotion or advertising expense.  Get the core back and feeling safe again.  The product, the people that development with it, and the business customers that use the deployed applications will start to rise again.  Then SAP can make adjustments so they can start to make money again.  Everybody wins and are happy again in a few years ;<0)
    One thing that will come out of it is that once PB 15 is released, it will be supported by SAP for 8 years (that's the standard SAP support policy).  That should give some of the PHBs more assurance that PB won't go away immediately.
    You might be interested in this video from the PowerBuilder User Group meeting in Germany in December where SAP gave their explanation for why they have been so quiet.  Starts around 3:30 in.  About 7 minutes in is where they discuss the support policy.

  • How does htmldb_util.savekey_num differentiate between users

    Can you tell me how htmldb_util.savekey_num differentiates values stored by different users?
    ie. if user A stores value 1 and then user B stores value 2 then user A retrieves the stored value how does htmldb know to return value 1.
    will htmldb keep a seperate instance of the global value for each user? (if so does this take up a lot of memory?)
    how long is the value stored for retrieval?

    So we are both right! Everybody wins!
    I agree that you can initially treat the database as getting a new connection every time but eventually as a developer it is important to understand the pooled connection mechanisms when you start to extend the HTMLDB applications beyond the wizards, not so important if you are a beginner. If you assume you are getting a fresh connection every time you can wind up in trouble, for example if you use FGAC and don't set the context on every single page refresh. (It will work some of the time depending on who used the connection last).

  • Flash Pro CC - Reverse Upgrade: Import functions gone

    I use Flash for one thing only: creating graphic assets in the Library which are assigned class names and exported to SWCs. I do all my development in an IDE (PowerFlasher). A big part of this process is converting Illustrator and Photoshop assets into Flash libraries.
    I need to make decisions on a layer by layer basis as to how each layer is imported (bitmap, vector etc), registration points, instance names etc.
    And frequently the source files are modified in which case I would only want to select the modified layers for import.
    Removing the import dialogs for Illustrator and Photoshop makes Flash CC practically useless for me. A clearer case of "reverse upgrade" have I never encountered previously.

    Hi Sudeshna sarkar
    Are you serious. First you drop Action Script 2.0 and now you take away a very important feature like this because it's too complex for other users. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. Just put the more advanced features under an advanced setting. This way you can have the simplified version for those that found it complex to use and the advanced features for those that desperately need it. Everybody wins.
    Do you guys actually use this software. Yes there is an Edit with option for images that are in the library but there isn't any edit with option for ai files at least none that I am aware of. If their is please point me in the right direction in how to find it? Also how is not making multiple versions of files just to have one layer on or off not making it more complex.
    So from what I am hearing this is your approach for example you have a illustrator file with lets say 8 layers in it. If we save the illustrator with all 8 layers. Flash CC will import all 8 layers giving us no option to select the layers we want like we had in CS6. So if I just want 2 layers on I have to go and save another file with just 2 layers on so it will only import those 2 layers. So tell me how am I going to name these files. Filename_2_layers_on.ai then Filename_5_layers_on.ai. How ridiculous is that.
    There is lots of times people import an illustrator file into flash only to realilze later on that they want to import another layer maybe from another illustrator file or another project all together or maybe you decide to add another layer to your project. The way you guys have it everytime someone has to do one of these things and believe me these are just some examples of diffrent scenarios users face, they have to save off a different file version everytime or if they don't save off diffrent versions then if I want to get one layer our of a 100 layer file. Flash CC will import all 100 layers to the stage so I can get that one layer I wanted. Now I have to go and delete all 99 extra layers. I don't know about you but this way of thinking is way more complex and definitely not user friendly.
    I guess we all will be sticking with CS6 or older version until adobe realizes what they have done. Seriously what were you guys thinking
    Adam great post you are so right on everything you said. This seriously needs to be fixed asap

  • SUGGESTION: Create app organization tool for iPhone/iPod or do it in iTunes

    As we obtain more and more apps, isn't there an easier way to organize them on my iPhone other than manually scrolling icons through 7 or 8 pages of apps? It takes forever. I'd rather edit my apps and how they appear through iTunes or a tool on the phone... is this out there? Am I missing something? Thanks, AJ

    {quote:title=middlebunny wrote:}I actually had two iPhone technical assistance representatives express distain and react rudely when I questioned the inappropriateness of the "wiggle/move" way of organizing applications on an iPhone. Each advised that they've been working with iPhone for 1.5 years and I was the first customer complaint that they had received.{quote}
    Yeah, that sounds like an Apple rep... Actually, from my experience it sounds more like a salespeon in a store, I've generally found that the tech guys are OK, the salespeons can be insufferable, but of course, YMMV.
    And honestly, I don't believe them for a minute when they say that this is the first time that anyone has complained about it.
    Funny thing is, this isn't really a complaint. It's a product improvement suggestion.
    deggie, regarding your comment about not jumping on the bandwagon and not seeing the need for 400 applications on the phone, well, I'm not going to disagree there, but having the ability to improve the interface of the phone is a bandwagon we all should jump on, I think. After all, if we had the ability to catagorise applications, and you didn't want to use that ability, I'm sure that that would work as well. Most catorisation systems have a default - 'none' or 'unfiled' or similar. You could leave all your apps in the 'none' category, and others could organise things in a way that works better for them.
    Everybody wins.
    Regarding your comment that "(had you done a search you would have seen this is not a new topic, or information, at all)" well, that rather reinforces his (her?) point doesn't it. Others have raised this issue before, and there is no harm in raising it again.
    middlebunny, as deggie says, send the suggestion to Apple via the feedback form - http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • BTRFS mkinitcpio hook

    UPDATE (6/10/10): http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 51#p772651
    THIS POST DEPRECATED UNTIL I UPDATE IT, USE THE UPDATED POST ABOVE
    available:
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33376
    this package will install a mkinitcpio hook intended for those who wish to have a single or multi-drive BTRFS file system as their / (root).  the hook will ensure that the chosen root device from the kernel command line is intact and safe to boot.  if root is not a BTRFS device, the hook is quietly skipped.
    it requires btrfs-progs from here:
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15635
    hook supports both UUID or device based root names.  UUID is safer; the entire BTRFS array only has one UUID, so referring to it means no problems. use /dev/device/by-uuid on kernel boot.
    hook supports hot spares by using a dummy, spare BTRFS file system to steal devices from as needed.  the spare pool can be referenced by label or UUID.**
    hook supports automatic repairing of the array if possible, automatic dropping of missing/failed devices if possible, and booting the array to a degraded state (one or more devices missing) if possible.**
    **NOTE: there are some bugs that may be in the hook/btrfs module/btrfs-progs that prevent raid1 (maybe others) arrays from being repaired (see http://pastebin.com/m5706f47f) however, this hook will work fine as is for single/multi-device arrays that are intact.  enable experimental options manually by editing options in the hook itself (/lib/initcpio/hooks/btrfs).  USE WITH CAUTION ON MULTI-DEVICE SETUPS.
    the initramfs script can be seen here:
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mkini … btrfs_hook
    its fairly commented, although there are a few things i'll point out for others who want to edit:
    1) i plan to rework _btrfs_scandev() to be more flexible in the variables it produces.  that function simply parses "btrfs-show" and gleans valuable information from it.  it will be used to verify array states with certainty.
    2) seems that btrfsctl does not have meaningful exit codes right now, do not rely, see _btrfs_register().
    3) seems that after legitimately removing a device from an array (NOT using "missing" special keyword), the mount needs a "mount -o remout [mnt]" for the ***missing flag to be removed from btrfs-show.  not sure the ramification of this or if its necessary.
    4) some or all of this functionality may someday be provided by module/kernel
    needs work + comments
    add "btrfs" to HOOKS in mkinitcpio.conf
    Last edited by extofme (2010-06-10 06:09:10)

    bleh, sorry about the late response, i usually subscribe to topics i create/join, i must have missed this one.
    resi wrote:After minor problems with the mkinitcpio (lvm hook seems to conflict with the btrfs one) image and fstab (why do I have to specify the root fs there? its already mounted when fstab is examined)
    i could be mistaken here, but initially your / is mounted read-only.  during the init process, one of the primary scripts issues a "mount -o remount,rw /" to remount the root device as read-write.  i _think_ using the mount command in this way (against a mount point and not a device) requires the mount point to exist in the fstab.
    resi wrote:But what happens if I really screw it up? I'm on 2.6.33 (.2-1) and read about missing ioctl()s regarding btrfs, meaning I can't replace the "default" subvolume (whats the difference between a subvolume and a snapshot anyway?). Its also not possible to list available subvolumes/snpshots, meaning your script (or organizing snapshots in similar ways) is the only chance to keep track of them, right?
    the inability to set the default subvolume is kind of a non-issue after i thought about it more, and some of the discussion on arch-general.  i plan to update the hook soon to allow the "promotion" of the rollback to become the new active subvolume.  ill do this by snapshotting your current / to a new subvolume called /__active, and then permanently booting into that [__active] instead of / or "." (a period is the default subvolume, like current directory).
    there is no difference internally, whatsoever (AFIAK), between a subvolume and a snapshot.  its just a matter of context: a subvolume starts out empty (explicitly created via a command/etc.), and a snapshot starts out with content (COW operation against an existing subvolume, i.e. "copy")
    yeah without the ability to list available subvolumes, we have to make up some structure, and assume everything goes well.  my script simply assumes anything within /snapshots is indeed a snapshot that can be copied (to /__rollback) and booted.  even if we can list subvolumes, we'll still need some kind of predefined structure (so the script knows which snapshots are bootable, and which are not, i.e. snapshots of /home are not bootable).
    resi wrote:I guess a plain "mount -t btrfs /dev/xyz" will mount the "default" subvolume then.
    correct.
    resi wrote:
    Once I really screw up I will have to boot into a snapshot, mount the default subvolume somewhere and restore it using a full copy from the snapshot (a la rsync --delete), then reboot and I'm back at the start again.
    Is this correct?
    unfortunately, without modifying the script, a manual copy is necessary :-( totally defeating the advantages of btrfs.  so, yes.  the problem is that the default subvolume itself cannot be replace by another... note this is different from SETTING the default subvolume.  i'm not sure if the real default subvolume ("." the period) will ever be replaceable/removable, i'd have to ask the btrfs list.  this is why i advocate installing your system into a subvolume FROM THE BEGINNING.  this gives us more flexibility.
    resi wrote:Is there some way to permanently change the subvolume mounted by your hook (i.e. not running in a volatile snapshot, but actually drop the default one and always boot into a given snapshot until further notice - a new snapshot)?
    this is actually how i intend to implement non-volatile rollback abilities in the hook.  instead of booting the default "." subvolume, my hook will ALWAYS boot the subvolume called "__active", located at /__active.  this way you can put whatever you want there, and it will be booted at the next reboot.  therefore, you can boot into rollback mode (essentially booting into /__rollback), update/add/remove whatever you want, and when your satisfied, you simply snapshot /__rollback to /__active and your done.  reboot, and your new __active will be in the same state as the point it was created in rollback mode.
    does all this make sense?  i'm told i tend to over explain/complicate things :-).
    resi wrote:Before every -Syu I have to check for kernel/xorg updates, read about them, check the mailing list, wait ... wait ... wait ... loose patience, give it a shot, recompile/reinstall the necessary stuff (at least I've got PKGBUILDs prepared) and hope for the best. With btrfs, this is just a non-issue. Or at least will be once the integration is better.
    i hear ya.  i like the idea of riding the edge without the fear of being cut by it.  unfortunately, until btrfs is supported by grub2, kernel rollbacks aren't possible (you'd have to manually backup your old kernel+initrd).  something to keep in mind.
    hunterthomson wrote:However, if I can just tell my clients to reboot into a snapshot "problem solved." Then I can spend the time to solve the problem, without the client siting around with a broken system.
    bingo.  that is pretty much my primary motivation here... less time freaking out about down time/whatever; everybody wins.
    hunterthomson wrote:Did you know Fedora 13 supports Btrfs Snapshotting and Roll-Back. Super cool.
    i know they have some support but i haven't tried it; from what i've read, the support is pretty weak... you can get yum to create the snapshot by installing a package, but there is no utility to actually use them later on.  i could be mistaken as i don't use fedora, this is only what i've read.
    what sucks is pacman doesnt have any ability to use hooks... i dont think we will see automatic snapshots by the package manager without a wrapper like clyde/powerpill/packer/etc.

  • Podcasts out of order

    Regardless of what order I arrange podcasts in on my shuffle while it's connected to iTunes (for example, I generally order them according to type and date and put them at the bottom of the list, after the music), when I play my shuffle and when I reconnect it to iTunes all of the podcasts are seemingly randomly reordered and are at the top of the list, before the music.
    I don't have the shuffle setting on, I've restored the shuffle multiple times, and my iTunes software is up-to-date.
    Any suggestions?

    {quote:title=kend0g187 wrote:} I don't get why they can't just download in the order you have them in your iTunes. Then everybody wins.{quote}
    I don't get it either. It used to work that way. You would click the play order column and drag the files into whatever order we chose, not iTunes. I may prefer to hear some short podcasts, regardless of date, first, followed by the longer ones. Or my favourites first. Now we have no control.
    If you wanted a different sort order, you could click on that column, then right-click the Shuffle icon and select Copy To Play Order to preserve that ordering when it played. For the life of me, I don't know what that menu choice does now.
    It used to be that when the Shuffle's switch was in shuffle mode, it played music in a random order. We could always switch shuffle mode off to get podcasts played in the order we wanted. Seemed fair. The Shuffle's choice rules when switched on and we ruled when switched off. Now the Shuffle has full control.
    As we have not been able to choose the play order for over a year, I can only conclude that this is the way Apple wants it to work. I've already sent feedback using this page on the Apple site:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipodshuffle.html
    I strongly encourage everyone to let Apple know their views through that link rather than these forums as it isn't clear to me if these forums have any influence on Apple's decisions.

  • Join\collaborate on projects

    Hello all,
    Being a student, I think one good way to lean a programming language is to collaborate with other developers (preferable more experienced) on different projects.
    I have minimum knowledge of java -went through Java Tutorials, I have the minimum knowledge to find and adapt\create code for my purpose
    I want to join projects where someone can guide me (minimum to medium supervision) in my activity; let's say, the project should have a good description of its goal, a general description of architecture of the software (design patterns applied) and a good code (javadoc) documentation. By minimum to medium supervision I mean: the master (initiator) developer (needing help) should say what should I try to do -main purpose, give me some basic walkthrough on how I could reach the goal (design patterns; how to interact with existing code); also it would be excellent if I could address questions when I reach a dead end and get an answer.
    Does not matter if the person sell the final product - I just want to learn (everybody wins).
    Where can I find these king of projects\people seeking for help\partnership?
    I tried with Project Kenai, but is very disorganized, very few filtering criteria, does not say what level of java is expected from possible candidates...
    Also tried with java.net - but it looks more like a site for professionals...
    Thank you very much for you guidance!

    I think this is very dificult, i started programing a game with my cousin (who is a computer science student) with the same idea, of learning with him helping. As it turned out we both got frustrated working together cos we never could get organised properly, even thought we are living in the same house. In the end i have made most of the game without him, though he could have made it better and faster (if he wern't so damn lazy).
    I learned much much more doing it on my own. Together he ended up doing all the dificult bits, because he was better, it made sence. I made some things and in the end he re-made them cos they werent good enough and i got annoyed and gave up, before starting again on my own version - now much better than his cos i spent months on in lol.
    The best solution was that whenever i did anything i had him on the other end of skype to answer my many many questions when i really couldnt find the solution :)
    Good luck

  • Shuffle recognized in WinXP, drive assigned (E:), but 30s later E: is gone

    iTunes 7.0.2 -- haven't tried with an earlier rev.
    iTunes recognizes the Shuffle for ~30 sec (while the drive letter is present) but then cannot see the disk.
    Please help!
    thanks,- kevin

    Nope, no apple support here my friend. This is how they like it, user to user. Saves them a lot of hassle and some of us get a kick out of helping others and showing of without getting paid. Everybody wins?
    To the problem at hand. There are two possibilities:
    1. If you loose all connection and can't copy music to your iPod shuffle, then if it is a first generation one, you are up **** creek like the rest of us 1st gen users. In that case try the 1.1.5 update for your shuffle, or use a much older version of iTunes. If that doesn't work try an older anapod explorer version or winamp (google them for where you can download them).
    2. If you just loose the drive assignation but can still use iTunes, you need to connect the ipod and in preferences tag the box for use as a hard disk.
    Hope this works out for you.

    I would also like to see a group specific for Windows 2000. We have installed several solaris sparc and intel servers running oracle in the last few months but it seems that that the next installs are going to be win2000. I am having more trouble ( and oracle has given me lots of trouble) with win2000 than all the others combined. It's different!!

  • T520 with Kingston SSD and OS Win XP Sp3 - Unmountable boot device

    Hello everybody,
    I have a problem with the combination of our Lenovo T520 and a Kingston SSD. The last laptop we have ordered no SSD seems to be working with the laptop. I install normally WIn Xp with SP3 the installation work very well but when I begin to install new drivers and make a restart Blue Screen with unmountable boot device. Ive tried also an Corsair SSD it results with the same effect. Do have any idea what else I can do? I've also made an bios update but that also doesn't worked very well. Do you have any other Ideas that i can try to have a better result.
    Best Regards
    ITRUNGIS

    Same problem here, spent half the day figuring out what was causing this, now I find another victim. Here's what fixed it for me: Restart WinXP with your ext. monitor connected, login to admin acct, go to "Start" menu>Control Panels>Printers and Other Hardware>NVIDIA Control Panel. Expand the Display folder on the left side and select "Set up multiple displays", then select the "Use only one display" radio button and make sure your laptop display is entered in the "Select the display you would like to use." box. Approve the changes and now it should restart without the ext. monitor connected.

  • Oracle forms 10g (win Xp middle tier IE 8             Win 7- IE 8 client)

    forms services 10.1.2.0.2
    Database 11gR2 also on Win Xp pro SP3
    Hi
    I have a problem with java and Jinitiator and my understanding of what is / should be happening.
    In the file forms/server/formsweb.cfg see below. I can alter the parameter
    baseHTMLjinitiator=basejini.htm
    ###baseHTMLjinitiator=basejpi.htm
    between the two alternatives. As it stands as shown the IE8 on the middle tier and on the database PC both work as near correctly as i can tell. On the Win 7 client IE 8 however crashes. switch it to the other way around and the
    win 7 works and the win xp on the database server stops with frm-92095 error version number too low. while on the middle tier Xp PC a blank doucument is displayed.
    How can i have both working at the same time please. I you need more information i will happily supply it.

    # formsweb.cfg defines parameter values used by the FormsServlet (frmservlet)
    # This section defines the Default settings. Any of them may be overridden in the
    # following Named Configuration sections. If they are not overridden, then the
    # values here will be used.
    # The default settings comprise two types of parameters: System parameters,
    # which cannot be overridden in the URL, and User Parameters, which can.
    # Parameters which are not marked as System parameters are User parameters.
    # SYSTEM PARAMETERS
    # These have fixed names and give information required by the Forms
    # Servlet in order to function. They cannot be specified in the URL query
    # string. But they can be overridden in a named configuration (see below).
    # Some parameters specify file names: if the full path is not given,
    # they are assumed to be in the same directory as this file. If a path
    # is given, then it should be a physical path, not a URL.
    # USER PARAMETERS
    # These match variables (e.g. %form%) in the baseHTML file. Their values
    # may be overridden by specifying them in the URL query string
    # (e.g. "http://myhost.mydomain.com/forms/frmservlet?form=myform&width=700")
    # or by overriding them in a specific, named configuration (see below)

    You have a mixture of problems here.
    1. Oracle Jinitiator is not supported for use on Windows 7
    2. JRE 1.7 is not supported for use with any version of Forms on any platform. Be sure you do not have this version installed.
    3. JRE 1.6 is not supported for use with Forms 10.1.2.0.2, however is supported with 10.1.2.3 (10.1.2.0.2 + patch ID 5983622) and only with IE 8
    4. In order to use Win 7 with Forms 10 in a certified and supported manner, you must use 10.1.2.3 (meaning 10.1.2.0.2 + patch ID 5983622).
    In short, my recommendation would be the following:
    o Patch to 10.1.2.3 (assuming you have access to MyOracleSupport)
    o Don't bother trying to use Oracle Jinitiator as it is old and has been desupported for a long time.
    o Uninstall any instances of Jinitiator as it can cause conflicts with other JRE installations.
    o Uninstall all instances of JRE 1.7. Reconfig your formsweb.cfg to use the JRE (Java Plugin) 1.6.0
