OTV using Unicast adjacency does it still need pim and msdp

Hi
We have a working OTV enviroment. I have been asked to created a second overlay interface for a DMZ enviroment
Where currently using
otv adjacency-server unicast-only.
but i still see a number PIM interfaces and we also use the MSDP conficugration which i presumed to be only for the Multicast mode
Can some one please clarify if using unicast mode do i still provision all PIm and msdp confguration to get unicast configuration working
documentation is unclear

Hi,
I am not very sure on how Nexus works related to OTV unicast, but in case of ASR1K you definitely do not need any multicast configuration when bringing up OTV using "adjacency server unicast-only" option.
If you need configuration details related to ASR1K, I have a small blog wherein I have configured the same [both for unicast / multicast OTV cores].

Does JMF still need QTime for .mov files ?

Hello,
My question may look stupid, but I have read the JMF supports the .mov format QTime). Does this mean that I does not need QT (or ITunes) anymore, or is it still needed ?
Before I was using the Java QTime Interface API. Is JMF just an alternative to this API ? Or is it a complete replacement.
In fact, I'm in the process of migrating applications from Windows to Linux, and there is no QT or ITunes in this environment. So, I'm looking for a solution.

Does AVCHD still need conversion?

In FCE 4, does AVCHD still get converted to HDV before editing or is it stored and edited as AVCHD directly?

It's kind of interesting if you watch the demo movie. It uses a modal dialog box that is similar to the p2/mxf for the HVX200.
Just drag and drop or add to the que.
I think it is being unwrapped and rewrapped but it seems real time.

Why when using private browsing does Safari still remember websites visited?

Even when private browsing is selected on my MacBook and iPad2, websites visited are remembered and displayed in history. Why is this?

Welcome to the Support Communities! Is it possible that you have some Safari windows open as private browsing, and others not? See the overview of private browsing below (see the note I've highlighted in bold):

When you use Private Browsing windows, Safari doesn’t save your browsing history, and it asks websites you visit not to track you.
Use Private Browsing:
Choose File > New Private Window, or switch to a Safari window that’s already using Private Browsing. A window that’s using Private Browsing has a dark address and search field with white text.
When you use a Private Browsing window:
Each tab in the window is isolated from the others, so websites you view in one tab can’t track your browsing in other tabs.
Safari doesn’t remember the webpages you visit or your AutoFill information.
Safari doesn’t store your open webpages in iCloud, so they aren’t shown when you view all your open tabs from other devices.
Your recent searches aren’t included in the results list when you use the address and search field.
Items you download aren’t included in the downloads list. (The items do remain on your computer.
Safari doesn’t remember changes to your cookies or other website data. Safari also asks websites and others who provide those sites with content (including advertisers) not to keep track of your browsing, although it is up to the websites to honor this request.

Stop using Private Browsing:
Close the Private Browsing window, switch to a different Safari window that isn’t using Private Browsing, or choose File > New Window to open a window that doesn’t use Private Browsing. To further enhance privacy:
Delete any items you downloaded while using Private Browsing windows.
Close any other Private Browsing windows that are still open, to prevent others from using the Back and Forward buttons to see pages you visited in them.
Besides using Private Browsing windows, you can manage cookies and data stored by all websites and have Safari ask all websites not to track you.
If you forget to use a Private Browsing window, you can clear your browsing history.

While starting up my Macbook Pro it runs for like a minute. Then it turns off. I know i need to replace my battery...is this my problem? Its connected to the wall so does it still need battery to run?

I know my battery has to be changed...it's not storing any energy no more...its done.
But my Macbook is connected to the wall....so it gets its energy i would say?
Is it possible the Book needs a good battery also when its connected?

The MBP should still operate when you are using a power adapter and plugged into a properly functioning wall outlet. From your post it sounds like you simply need a new battery so the you can operate the MBP without a power adapter.
If ot does not operate with the power adapter, you have other electrical issues.

If I am using my localhost do I still need home/usr/public_htm?

I am just using my localhost to test some rmi programes but when I referenced java's doc* they are saying define directories for public accessabilities like /home/usr/public_html. My question: is it neccessary to do that while I am on my LOCALHOST!. Please help

you certainly can use it in 64 bit mode - there was never any general need to do otherwise, despite rather a lot of claims to the contrary, which persist even now.
Some plug-ins/add-ons don't work in 64 bit, most do, Flash does - so unless you find a problem, switch to 64 bit, which is only available on Snow Leopard & on Core 2 Duo or later cpu's.

Some liquid has just spilled into your Mac. What should you do?
Do
Immediately shut down the computer and unplug the power cord.
Remove the computer's battery (if you can)
Disconnect any peripherals (printers, iPods, scanners, cameras, etc.)
Lay the computer upside down on paper towels to get as much liquid as possible to drip out.
Note what was spilled on your Mac.
Bring the computer into an Apple store or AASP as soon as possible.
Don't
Don't try to turn it back on. Liquids can help electrical current move about the components of your Mac in destructive ways.
Don't shake the computer (this will only spread the liquid around).
Don't use a hair dryer on it (even at a low setting a hair dryer will damage sensitive components).
Do not put in a bag of rice in as much as rice will get into the ports and optical drive and do further damage.

Anyone using HiddenMail? Does it still work?

I have been using HiddenMail for a while, to launch Mail at startup and hides Mail (Somehow, putting Mail in Login Startup Items and check 'hide' doesn't hide it)
But somehow with the latest OS Update, HiddenMail doesn't do its thing: Hide Mail
Is there any update to this Apple Script?

If i install my airport extreme using a pc, does that pc need to always be in the house for the wireless network to work?

No. You would only need the PC to run the AirPort Utility if you ever need to make any configuration changes to the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS). You can even do that from a remote location. A computer is not required in order for other wireless clients to connect to the AEBS for network/Internet acess.

Verizon, Does YOUR equipment need service and upgrade? Not OURS? Please Help

I used to have a pretty stable dial-up, then DSL, then DSL enhanced connection. But late this summer, my service has gotten horrible. In the evenings, I can get disconnected every 1 to 2 minutes or even get disconnected when I am trying to reconnect from the last disconnect.
I have a new modem/router from Verizon and have gone through all the standard troubleshooting suggestions given on this site.
I then began sifting through these forums and then posting about my difficulties.
Through the last several months it seems as though more people are complaining about the frequent internet slowdowns and disconnects. We've all been walked through the same steps.
Finally we are being told that these problems are happening during "high-traffic" times on the internet and nothing else is said.
I recently saw a post where a customer said they were told by a Verizon service technician that the problems are because Verizon's hardware needs to be upgraded to handle the larger amount of internet traffic.
I have rebooted and reset my modem many times. I've restarted my computer, run cleaning programs, cleared the DNS folder, and defragged. I've even changed the phone and Ethernet cables.

JBoss 4.2.0 does not contain need folders and files inside default server

Dear,
In the Virtual Appliance you provided, you will find under the /home/livecycle/jboss-4.2.0/server/default ONLY: log folder and tmp folder.
When you start jboss like:
~jboss4.2.0/bin>./run.sh -c default
It will give this error:
Failed to boot JBoss:
org.jboss.deployment.DeploymentException: url file:/home/livecycle/jboss-4.2.0/server/default/conf/jboss-service.xml could not be opened, does it exist?
The answer is NO as i explain before. But why? is there a problem in the Virtual Appliance when you prepare the jboss server on it?
Please let me know

JBoss in the Virtual Appliance does not have a "default" configuration. You should not start it with the command "./run.sh -c default".

KDE with compiz or beryl ? Compiz still needs many gnome dependencies?

I'm going to install new x86_64 arch on my laptop and wondering about installing compiz - I'm using KDE and I have question - does compiz still need so many gnome deps or it's better with this now ? For now on my x86 desktop I use beryl 0.2.1 and no problem here but in the future I'll have to change beryl to compiz so I need to know this gnome-deps thing... anyone uses KDE with compiz ?

Just install compiz-core and the kde decorator. It only requires gconf/gtk2.
FYI: KDE4 is introducing its own composting effects in KWin, so you won't be needing compiz/beryl if you use KDE in a few months

Should I use mackeeper? Does it work?

Does anyone use MacKeeper to "clean" off your computer? Does Apple recommend it? Does it work?

MacKeeper performs no useful function - Mac's don't need 'cleaning' - and, worse, is notorious for cluttering the Mac up with nag screens and adverts; it can be be extremely difficult to eradicate once installed. Avoid it as you would the bubonic plague.
