Où est Isync? Where is Isync?

Bonjour.
Hello. Since 2 in the daytime I had problems of connection between Isync and my Nokia N 95. I tried everything, in vain. Then I destroyed(annulled) Isync with AppDelete and in ....... I am funny annoyed, because I tried to reinstall him(it) by extirpating him(it) of the cd of installation with PACIFIST, but then when I lance he answers me that it is not the good version of ISYNC.
Then I got back in the garbage can that AppDelete had spattered, and I replaced in each of the files the destroyed(annulled) files. But when I throw(launch) Isync, he(it) "mashes" during one fill to end in nothing! With the message " synchronization cancelled " while I made nothing... That to do?

where is iSync ?
Easiest way to find iSync is to type it into Spotlight. It should be located in the main Applications folder of your boot-up hard disk - nowhere else.
Should I download and install it from the Apple site.
It can't be downloaded from the Apple site.
It's part of a default Mac OS X Installation so it would be a good idea to re-install it if you've inadvertently deleted it.
Instructions for re-installing iSync from your original Mac OS X Installation DVD are here:

  • Where is iSync, i need it for my nokia

Lion is great but how do I now sync my nokia N97 mini? is there a replacement for iSync or can I get iSync back?

iSync is not in Lion anymore, but check this out: http://slashusr.wordpress.com/2011/07/22/the-missing-isync-in-os-x-lion-and-what -to-do-about-it/

  • Where is iSync in OS X Lion?

Where do i find iSync in OS x Lion 10.7.2 to load data from a Nokia phone to then move them to an iPhone?

Thanks for the hint. Unfortunately, I only bought my Macbook before Xmas, therefore Lion is installed.
But I managed to find a download site for iSync 3.1.2. The installation appears to have worked. No the trouble is to link the old Nokia 6070 phone via USB and have it accepted by iSync. I am just tryin this.

  • Where did isync plugin maker come from!?

i searched spotlight for isync and one of the results was isync plug in maker. i haven't installed any such plug in and previously spotlight returned no such result. can someone tell me where it possibly came from? also, how can i use it to make a good plug in that will allow syncing my n73 over bluetooth?

That may have been installed with the Xcode tools; unless you're a software developer, you probably shouldn't use it. Click here for more information.

  • ISync does not properly retrieve address book data, links broken

    Hello,
My syncing attempts with my Motorola phone keep failing (no data is transmitted to the phone; the phone has no contacts currently). I think I can see the problem: iSync has different groups of contacts in its list than that exist in address book. What I mean is: in the dropdown menu in iSync where you can select what group of contacts to sync, it has the groups that I once had in address book, but which are now changed. I think this happened since I installed snowleopard. During my leopard days, I moved some apps to different folders; with the install of snowleopard, I think the links between the apps have not been reset well.
Do you know how to fix this?

The most likely solution is to launch iSync application ,and then in the preferences menu, click on Reset Sync History button. This resets configurations for the iTunes synchronization of calendars and address books.

  • ISync palm conduit in 10.5 - won't work under user imported from 10.4?

My Palm m500 was syncing fine with my PowerBook G4 running Mac OS 10.4
I recently got a spiffy new MacBook Pro (Penryn) with 10.5, and although the Palm does communicate and sync via Palm Desktop, it no longer syncs via iSync with iCal & Address Book. I keep getting the following in the hotsync log:
    < snip >
    OK Install
iSync Conduit starting 3/13/08 10:38:34 PM
iSync Conduit: received NULL message, disconnecting...
    OK iSync Conduit
    </ snip >
    ==========
    Other info:
I imported the user info for my main user from the old 10.4 installation using Migration Assistant.
    • Deleted old Palm HotSync & Desktop files from the username:Library:Application Support, as palm preference files from username:Library:Preferences
    • Copied the old user folder to an alternate location, and removed the Palm folder from username:Documents:
    • Re-installed Palm Desktop 4.2.1 under main user (authorized as an "administrator" temporarily)
    • Sync worked (no data on Palm Desktop, but everything backed up ok), HotSync even recovers and creates a new user based on the data on the device, and even backs up all the programs.
    • Enabled Palm Os Syncing from within iSync (works fine, so long as the account being used has read/write permissions to HD:Library:Application Support:Palm HotSync:Conduits)
    • "Enable iSync for this palm device" from the iSync conduit within HotSync Manager.
During a sync, iSync kicks in and "connects", but can't get past AddressBook syncing, and never actually sends info to the Palm device. Presumably, this is where the "NULL message" is received and syncing stops. When I specify "Erase data on device then sync" in iSync (for first syncronization), it does indeed erase address book data on the device, but never sends anything to replace it, but also does not touch the calendar data on the palm device.
Furthermore, I tried the same procedure when logged in as another administrator account (what is normally the main administrator account on this computer), and synced first without iSync, then enabling "iSync for this Palm device". Under this other account, the syncing works. I can add events to iCal, and contacts to address book, and they are transferred sucessfully and synced with the palm device. But it still does not work when logged in as the main user (even when administrator privileges are enabled, which I normally don't want), which actually has all my iCal and Address book data (which syncs successfully through .Mac with my computer at work).
There should be plenty of free space on the device for all my calendar & contact data (3MB).
Given that syncing DOES work for one administrator user (which was never before set-up for this), but not for the user that was imported from 10.4 and was syncing successfully before, I have a suspicion that there's either some leftover files that I missed, or a permissions conflict within the user's home folder that I am missing. Has anyone else been able to resolve this issue, or have any suggestions based on this information?
    Much appreciated.

    Experimentation reveals that:
    • replacing the old addressbook data with blank allows syncing to work without problems.
    • having multiple groups causes the same error: BUT only on the first sync (set to “Erase data on device then sync”, but also if set to “merge”). Adding groups after a successful initial sync did not interfere with further syncs.
    • deleting groups from existing AddressBook data does allow a successful first sync.
    • but adding them back in again breaks the sync.
Having no groups would seem to allow a successful sync.
    see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6805570&#6805570
I don’t want to have to limit myself to this. I do use groups rather a lot and it would be frustrating to have to give up using them just so I can sync my Palm in Leopard.
The following does NOT solve the problem:
    1. Move old Address Book data to a backup location (after exporting AddressBook library)
    2. do a first sync
    3. re-import full Address Book data from archive
    4. continue with regular syncs.
    • only sync one Group still leads to the same error.
    • iSync 2 doesn’t run under Leopard (error message along the lines of “You can’t use this software with this version of Mac OS”).
    • I also tried to use the previous iSync palm conduit (v3.0.2 instead of v3.1.0), but got the same errors.
For now, I removed all the groups and synced my contacts to my Palm, but I then turned off syncing for contacts within iSync, so I could recover all my Address Book Groups. Fortunately, I need to update Calendar information more often than contact info, and I won’t be able to change contact info on the Palm device. When I do want to do a periodic update to my Palm device, I will have to:
    1. Backup my address book
    2. Delete all groups (but not the contacts within them, which stay in the library itself)
    3. Turn contact syncing on in iSync
    4. Sync the Palm device
    5. Turn contact syncing OFF in iSync
    6. Recover my Address Book Library & groups from backup
Not as simple as I would expect from Apple software ... I hope this issue gets fixed in iSync 3 (Leopard).

  • Isync conduit/adobe reader for palm issue

I just got a Tunsten E2 for Christmas. I'm somewhat new to this PDA world, so perhaps I'm missing something obvious. I installed the software, installed Adobe Reader for Palm OS and performed a HotSync. I then tried importing a PDF file to my handheld with no trouble. Then I saw via the Palm website that I could sync using isync via the isync conduit 1.2 from apple. So I downloaded that and followed the instructions to install it. Now my addresses and calendars sync flawlessly, but I can't seem to get Adobe Reader for Palm to transfer any more PDF files.
Has the isync conduit disabled a conduit for Adobe? Is there any way to fix this? Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    J
P.S. I'm using Hotsync manager 3.2.1 and Palm Desktop 4.2.1

    Michael,
I've figured out what the problem is. When you install the isync conduit it removes any conduits that it feels it conflicts with. i.e. contacts, calendars, to do lists etc. It also, for some reason, removed the Adobe conduit named AcroConduit. I think this is a glitch in the isync conduit. Thankfully, the conflicting conduits that isync removes aren't deleted. They are simply put into a folder named "disabled conduits" located in the main "library" folder->"Application Support" -> "Palm HotSync", right next to the "Conduits" folder. So I just dragged the AcroConduit back to the "Conduits" folder and configured the conduit in HotSync Manager and, viola, all seems to be working fine... sort of.
It seems that Apple's Address Book and iCal don't exactly sync picture perfect on the palm pilot. email addresses where phone numbers should be, some addresses not showing up at all, calendars not showing up in the correct headings such as personal, business, etc. Apple and Palm could do better.

  • Nokia and isync - not!

    hi

    thanks

    Welcome to the Discussions dicrazzle.
Did you got to http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/drivers/isyncplugins.html and install the pluging for your phone?
If you have, please supply some more information:
    Your system info?
How many other bluetooth devices are also paired with this system?

  • Utter iSync failure in 10.4.4

    Okay, here's my problem(s):
The original problem was that I couldn't sync addresses, etc. through iSync. The iSync conduit (as the HotSync Log referred to it) timeout. Then through manipulating the Conduits and Disabled Conduits, I got things to the point where the Log said the iSync was "OK", but nothing happened.
For a while, I had problems which were due to conflicting conduits, but I think I've resolved that.
Finally, I removed the Palm device from iSync to re-add it, and now iSync can't see it. I tell it to "Scan", the Palm device has Bluetooth and is in its cradle, plugged into the USB port on the computer, and the computer can see the Palm device in the Bluetooth Preferences. I still have a user profile for the PDA, too.
If anyone can give me any help on getting my computer to see the PDA (Palm Tungsten T), and getting them to sync through iSync, I'd appreciate it. It seems (to me) to be related to the 10.4.4 upgrade.

It seems to have solved it self. For one thing, HotSync had disabled the iSync conduit action.

  • ICal and iSync with Treo 650 and bluetoothing

    Hello,
I have a Palm Treo 650 with Sprint provider and I am trying to sync it with my iCal and Address Book on my MacBook Pro. I have synced the Treo with the laptop using the Cradle Cable once. When I did this, all the events from the Treo transfered straight over the Mac Pro but were deleted off the phone.
    1) How do I sync the two to have identical events, etc.?
I have heard that my iCal can also be synced using bluetooth. I've been reading on here trying to figure it out but nothing has been able to help me yet.
    2) How do I sync using the bluetooth capabilities?
I just signed up for a .Mac trial account to see if I had to be a member for the iCal to sync thru bluetooth but I haven't been able to figure it out. I have the Palm OS conduit installed. But I just need help answering these 2 questions if possible.
    Much appreciated!
"locmi01" I have read a few of your posts but nothing that I found could answer my questions.

I cannot explain why the events transfered from your Treo through the Sync Services framework where thereafter deleted if you were using iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit. That should not have happened.
In order understand synchronization under Mac OS X 10.4 and later, you should read this document:
    http://developer.apple.com/macosx/syncservices.html
To restore the data to your Treo, you should first make sure it is present in both iCal and the Address Book, back up both datasets using the option to do so under the File menu of each application, then…
    • launch iSync
    • open the Preferences… dialog
    • press the Reset Sync History… button and follow the directions which appear
You should opt to replace the information on your Treo when presented with the option to either merge or replace records.
With regard to Bluetooth synchronization, you must first get USB synchronization working properly. Only then should you pair your device initiating the process from your Treo and confirming it from your MacBook, then electing to initiate a HotSync Bluetooth sync session from your device.
Keep in mind that USB is a faster and wider path, and will result in faster, if not necessarily as convenient, synchronization.

  • Know of iSync Plugin for Nokia 9300?

Hi, I am unable to sync my Nokia 9300 with my MacBook Pro and I would appreciate if anyone has tips on where I can find a plugin and if anyone has succeeded. I have spoken to Apple Support without success. Have also checked www.nokia.com/isync where they have mentioned the model 9300i but not 9300.

Typing "nokia 9300 isync plugin" into Google gives a large number of options.

  • View the changes in iSync?

    Hi,
The sync works perfectly with my Motorola RAZR.
But is there a way to see what are the changes being applied?
E.g. when I get a message one new contact added...how do I see which contact is being added?
    Thanks.

Rather than add on to an existing, unrelated thread, you should post a new thread regarding your issue. Most users are not going to relate View the changes in iSync? to an inability to synchronize a Motorola RAZR V3 with iCal using iSync.
Only iSync 2.4 requires Mac OS X 10.4.9 at a minimum: no version requires Mac OS X 10.4.10. The version of iSync used with Mac OS X 10.4.7 and 10.4.8 is iSync 2.3, and would have been upgraded to that level from iSync 2—with either an appropriate Combo update application or use of the Software Update mechanism—when bringing your reinstalled Mac OS X 10.4 base configuration to either Mac OS X 10.4.7 or 10.4.8.
An appropriate reinstallation of Mac OS 10.4—coupled with an upgrade using the Mac OS X 10.4.7 or 10.4.8 Combo update appropriate for your processor type—is the easiest and most effective means to 'restore' synchronization using iSync 2.3.
The V3m may well be supported by iSync, though not explicitly. The list of supported devices includes these:
    • Motorola RAZR v3 (GSM)
    • Motorola RAZR v3i
    • Motorola RAZR v3c (5)
    • Motorola RAZR v3x
The (5) flag points to a note that states this about the V3c model closely related to your V3m: "The Verizon version of this phone does not support calendar synchronization." So, if your model has been provided by Verizon Wireless, that may also be an issue. (You did not identify your carrier or specify from whom you obtained your V3m mobile handset.)
You may also be able to find a solution in this forum by searching for the string "V3m" in the search box in the upper right corner of each forum page.
Related information can be found using this Google search string.

  • V3 RAZR used to sync in 10.3.9, now won't sync under 10.4.6 (iSync 2.2)

My Cingular V3 RAZR paired and synch'd (address book and iCal events) under 10.3.9 without issue. Recently did clean install of Tiger, using Setup Assistant to transfer personal files from a FW clone. Now under 10.4.6 (iSync 2.2), iSync WILL NOT recognize phone.
The phone pairs with Bluetooth fine (can transfer photos, etc.). Starting with no devices in iSync, I select "Add new device". The "Add Device" window finds phone with correct personal name of my phone, a green dot next to the correct RAZR V3 icon, and message to "double-click to add this device...".
iSync then shows the generic mobile phone icon with a exclamation point marked Stop Sign and the word "unknown", placed next to the .Mac icon.
This is very frustrating. I have restarted both devices numerous times, shut off and restarted BT, etc. with no success. If you have any suggestions and feel screenshots would help, I have some.
    Thanks,
    Laurence

I think my MetaClasses.plist was corrupted. I tried again and I am now syncing again.
One thing has changed however... the phone is no longer showing "Company" contacts at the beginning of the Phone Book. They are now intermingled alphabetically with other entries?

  • Mac issues with iSync and N95

I have just upgraded to an N95. I run an iMac with OSX 10.4.11 & iSync 2.4 and have installed the Nokia iSync plugin (and the Multimedia Transfer software. I have no SD or SDHC card installed in the N95.
I connect the N95 in PC Suite mode as recommended.
When I click Sync Devices in iSync, contacts are transferred from the N95 to the Mac, but not from the Mac to the N95. This occurs using both the "Merge data..." and "Erase data..." settings in iSync.
As my old phone (Sony Ericsson K800i) and the N95 are not Bluetooth compatible (when are manufacturers going to sort that one out), I have transferred contacts from the K800i to the Mac and want to get them onto the N95 without doing them one by one via Bluetooth on the Mac.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi jollyon!
Sometimes the iSync setup gets a little confused, sometimes there is some problem with the system. Same steps apply for problems with iCal.
    Your combination should work perfeclty.
So there are some things to try:
0.) MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR ADRESS - BOOK. Adress Book -> Make Backup.
    1.) The usual:
    - remove the BT pairing in System Settings -> Bluetooth/Devices and o your phone (Menu/connections/BT/devices)
    - repair disk permissions with Hard Disk Utility
    - re - pair phone and Mac.
If that does not cure your problem, try resetting the Sync - log. iSync -> Settings - Reset Sync Log (do not know the english word for ist...)
If that does not work, create a new group in Adress Book, Quit and restart iSync, klick on your device and look under the Adress - Popup, if your new group is there.
If so, maybe your contacts database is corrupted. Select all contacts, drag them to the Desktop. Warning: If you have groups, you will loose them! (Not the contacts, only the association with the groups)
    Quit AddressBook.
Go to: Users/Your user/Library/Application support/AddressBook, copy all the files to your desktop.
Restart AddressBook. Drag teh exported contacts back to the AddressBook - window.
If the new group/calender do not appear in the iSync - prefs,
    Quit iSync
Goto Users/Your user/Library/Application support/iSync/ and drag the SyncLocalCopy to your Desktop
    Restart iSync.
    That schould do the trick...
    Happy digging...
