OUI-10150 while proceeding a silent install of OEM on RHEL 5.3

Hello everyone,
I'm following the procedure 784963.1 on metalink to install Grid Control on a RHEL 5.3.
While proceeding the silent install, just after the prereqs were passed succesfully, i got the following error in the logs:
silentInstall2009-06-19_04-12-33PM.log
*** Error Dialog: OUI-10150:Error: The password for a database account cannot be null. in component Oracle Enterprise Manager Repository Database 10.2.0.3.0 . Installation cannot continue for this component. ***
User Selected: S&top installation of this component only.
The password for a database account cannot be null.
This silent installation was unsuccessful.
I can access the database via sqlplus with sys, system, sysman and dbsnmp account.
Anyone has an idea?
Thanks a lot

Hey guys...
I'm having the same problem, and have tried your tips but it didn't work for me:
*** Error Dialog: OUI-10150:Error: The password for a database account cannot be null. in component Oracle Enterprise Manager Repository Database 10.2.0.3.0 . Installation cannot continue for this component. ***
User Selected: S&top installation of this component only.
The password for a database account cannot be null.
This silent installation was unsuccessful.
In my case, I can login to the database using SQLPlus with the accounts: SYS, SYSTEM, DBSNMP and SYSMAN.
Do you have any other tip that would help me?
I'm using RedHat 5.3 x86-64 as OS and Oracle 10.2.0.4 Enterprise Edition as database.
I'm following the procedures described at:

  • Silent Install -- ignore Non Empty Home

Doing a 10g install in Silent mode and wondering how I can get past the Non Empty home message.
During the interactive install, you simply say ignore or continue. I cleared all of the files in the $ORACLE_HOME prior to the install, but it creates a log file in that directory as that is also the $UNIX_HOME. I cannot change the ORACLE_HOME destination because of backup scripts and cannot do an interactive install. So, does anyone know how to bypass the OUI-10029 message during a silent install using a responsefile?
    Thanks.

    Prakash,
Thank you for the reply.  This error occurs in a previously empty directory.  The oracle installer adds a log and lock directory.  I am using the -force flag only to get around the installer files (not to be confused with the /tmp installer files elsewhere).  I thought about turning validation off but I still need it.
I can't access the bug.  Is there a way to force the installer to not write to the empty directory before it validates that is is empty by writing the log and lock directory elsewhere?
However, with the -novalidation flag the WebLogic 12.1.2.0 silent install is proceeding - I will verify it shortly

    Hello,
I'm trying to create a silent install for a 10.1.0.2 database. I created the response file using the -record option for the installer. What is happening when you try to do the installation with OUI not in silent mode`?
    Does it works?
Could it be possible to have the errors from the installation log please?
    Thanks

    The problem still persists...

    Problem solved,
The issue was, because i don't have any graphical user interface option, i need to run the patchset installer on silent mode with responsefile. On the responsefile, there is a FROM_LOCATION parameter. I set it to database's products.xml rather than setting patchset's products.xml. So when i reconfigured, the problem is solved.
Just an attention for those who followed up this thread.

  • Silent Install Firefox 29 Windows

I've been scouring the internet for a while looking for a way to do a silent install of Firefox via command-line. As I have come to find out, the -ms and /INI methods only work in much older versions of Firefox.
When I try the -ms silent install, the first half of the install works fine, until it gets to the second half. As it appears, the second half first asks for the admin password (which is doesn't need), then it proceeds with the very visible second half of the install (another click to download and install Firefox and another useless ask for the admin password).
What I think is happening is that the first installer is actually just installing another installer (into the appdata/temp folder) then opening that installer, and deleting it when it's done. This second installer doesn't support the -ms command when run on it's own.
    Anyone got any ideas?

    Found the answer.
I went in and reported this to bugzilla, and after talking it over with someone, it was revealed that there are no plans to include silent install for the general "stub" based installer. But the silent install ''does'' work if you use the ''full'' installer (which doesn't use the double install process found in the general installer, and can only be downloaded here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ )
The full installer does support regular -ms silent install. To get rid of the admin permission requests, just run it elevated (aka: run as admin).
After this conversation, the mozilla wiki was updated accordingly: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Installer:Command_Line_Arguments

  • How to handle "/9.2.0/root.sh as root from another window" in silent instal

    Hi,
I was successful to start a silent installation of Oracle9iR2 using a responsefile on my System RHEL 3. But the installation ends soon and a wrong successful install message:
Error :*** Alert: A configuration script needs to be run as root before installation can proceed. Please leave this window up, go run /opt/app/oracle/product/9.2.0/root.sh as root from another window, then come back here and click OK to continue. ***
The installation of Oracle9i Database was successful.
I use -ignorePatchConflicts for ignoring the patch conflicts. But How do I handle these issues. Where I have to run root.sh ... etc in teh Non Interactive Install.
I am scripting solution for non interactive install and manual intervention to run these root.sh shell scripts at different points of install is not a good idea as it wont help me automate the install.
Please let me know if anyone has solved this problem with -silent install.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thats me (OP) again:
    I tried setting:
SHOW_ROOTSH_CONFIRMATION=false in the response file. But still no help. The installation exits at run root.sh prompt point. How I can effectively deal with it in a script?

  • Linking in progress doesn't respond during silent install of oracle db 10g

I performed all required settings for installing oracle database 10g on my remote server (redhat), I set the values of the response file for a silent install of enterprise edition.
The installation works fine till the prompt says --- Linking in progress .
then it takes a very long time without saying anything else, i checked /oraInventory for the log files, but there is no log for the silent install, which might mean that there is no error reported and that the connection or the shell application I am using (putty) has lost connection or something like that.
I tried re-installation many times, but it still stops at the same step, the putty status bar says inactive later on, i then realize that there is no connection or some other failure.
What can I do to fix this?

you are welcome, unfortunately you didn't mark this thread as a question so no stars for me .
Nervermind, herewith the feedback on your questions :
Should I make a dbca.rsp ? how would I pass it to my install command line?
In silent mode, DBCA uses values that you specify in the response file or as command-line options to create a database. DBCA does not display any screens or information while it creates the database. It logs all messages (including information, errors, and warnings) in a log file.
From the command line, enter the following command to see all of the DBCA options that are available when you use the silent mode:
    $ @ora_root:[bin]dbca.com -help
Read more in that document : http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B13681_01/a_nonint.htm#CIHDHHBE
I tried: ps -efd | grep -i run , alot of process appeared, how would I know if the installer is among them?
try to grep with a much longer name i.e :
ps -efd | grep -i runinstaller
What is fuser * in the log directory ? is this a file I should create or what?
No fuser is a unix/linux command that enable you to identify processes using a file or file structure. The fuser utility displays the process IDs of the processes that are using the files specified as arguments.
So if the runinstaller still active you will see i.e.
    fuser silentInstall2008-08-08_10-50-48AM.log
    silentInstall2008-08-08_10-50-48AM.log: 14506o
    14506 is your process ID
    Hope this helps you!

  • Silent install for adobe reader version 110003

silent install for adobe reader version 110003

    Hi,
I don't know your more details about how you pretend to deploy your Adobe Reader but I did this to my current deployment and many people on the company are happy with this:
1- I extracted the contents from the Adobe Reader installer.
2- I modified the MSI using Customization Wizard to hide some menus (Maybe you can skip this step if you don't need to customize it)
3- On SCCM 2012 I created a Script deployment with a CMD file which contains the following command for silent install. (You don't need to have an SCCM infrastructure to deploy it but it will help)
    start /wait msiexec /i "%~dp0AcroRead.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="%~dp0AcroRead.mst" PATCH="%~dp0AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp;%~dp0AdbeRdrSecUpd11002.msp"
    or
    msiexec /i "%~dp0AcroRead.msi" /q TRANSFORMS="%~dp0AcroRead.mst" PATCH="%~dp0AdbeRdrUpd11001_MUI.msp;%~dp0AdbeRdrSecUpd11002.msp"
    - On my case I used %~dp0 because I'm installing from a server caching files on client machines but if you pretend to test and install it locally avoid using: %~dp0 and put your absolut path. Like C:\Temp or your MSI and source files location.
    - Start /wait - Will execute your MSI installer file and then once is finished will proceed with the next command if any.
    - Transforms- will force the MSI to apply the custom settings I did on Customization Wizard)
    - PATCH- command will proceed to install the patches you may have at the moment 11.0.1, 11.0.2, etc...
Hope this will help you !

So I tried to modify the setup.ini file, with more success as the installation complete, but the folder "Elements 9 Organizer" does not exist, therefore the shortcut for pse9  targets an inexisting application.
But if I start the photoshopelementsEditor.exe that works (except of course that I cannot start the organizer.
    here is my setup.ini file:

Ok so i'm a little bit desesperate here (I even tried to edit the .msi with orca to launch it directly without going throught the setup.exe, but with no luck...)
so if anyone has any idea please please please let me know!
    thanks!

    Hi there,
Sorry for the late reply. Somehow, never got to see this thread before.
    So, let us begin.
There are multiple points I would like to add here...
1.In the command line mentioned below, I think you should have a space between Start and /wait.
    Start/wait C:\"Adobe Photoshop Elements 9"\Setup.exe /UL1036 /V"SERIALNUMBER=1111-1111-1111-1111-1111-1111"
    2. The name of the override file should be application.xml.override with no extension in the end. You mentioned it as application.oxml.override, may be thats just a typo.
    3. In the override file, you have specified both EULADelay as 0 and EULA suppress, EULADelay as 0 is used to show the EULA to the end users, while EULA suppress is used to suppress the EULA. So, you should just have one of these entries depending on what you want to achieve..
    4. One you use the correct silent install command as mentioned above, you should NOT edit the Setup.ini file to change the EnableLangDlg, Default, Commandline2,  SERIALNUMBER= keys of the override as that will be automatically be taken care of the command line to install PSE in french locale based on the UL key. So, I recommend changing them back to the original values.
    5. Please please please....DO NOT EDIT the .msi file directly through Orca because once you have edited it, you are on your own and there wouldnt be anything we can do from here to support your issue further.
So, based on these comments, can you please try to install PSE again in silent mode and see if it works fine now??
Yeah, in case there is a broken installation (just editor) already present on your machine, then please remove it by following the below article.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/859/cpsid_85966.html
Last, seems like you are using a volume licensing serial number to deploy PSE on multiple machines, so for the enterprise customers, there is a dedicated support team, please contact them for getting clear directions and for troubleshooting steps. They should be help you further..

  • Silent install of Photoshop Elements 10 via SCCM fails

Hi all, hoping someone can help. I'm trying to push out deployment of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 via SCCM. From Adobe's site I found details on adding an XML file to preconfigure various default settings and perform a silent install.  I can push out
the package to my test PC's cache folder no problem, but the advertisement fails with "Failed (bad environment)" message ID 10003. The system cannot find the file specified."
However, I can install the program manually, running the same code from the command line. So, on my test PC, if I go to c:\windows\system32\cache\(package) from the command line, I can type the following "start /wait Setup.exe /UL1033 /V"SERIALNUMBER=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx"
(as per Adobe's instructions) and Photoshop Elements 10 will silently install just fine.
I've read elsewhere that SCCM can have issues with server paths and making use of the %~dp0 variable but I'm unsure if that applies here. In SCCM, in the program properties for PE10, the drive mode is set to "Runs with UNC name." I tried changing to 'requires
drive letter" but it still failed. I'm guessing I'm dealing with some sort of environment issue but I'm stuck as to how to fix. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sir_Timbit

I used "start /wait" as that was what was listed on Adobe's silent install instructions at http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-elements-1.html
Again, it installs fine manually, *if* I point a command prompt to c:\windows\system32\ccm\cache\(cache folder)\ and run the start /wait setup.exe line below. But through SCCM, the advertisement report shows:
    Message ID:10003. Failed (bad environment)
An error occurred while preparing to run the program for advertisement "ABC20074" ("ABC00041" - "Install Photoshop Elements 10"). The operating system reported error -2147024894: The system cannot find the file specified. Additional program properties: Command
line: start /wait Setup.exe /UL1033 /V"SERIALNUMBER=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx" Working directory: Drive letter (? = any): Possible cause: This message most commonly occurs when the program's command-line executable file could not be found, when a required
drive letter connection to a distribution point could not be established, or when the program is configured to use the SMS Software Installation Account but the account is not specified, could not be found, or does not have the appropriate permissions. Solution:
Check each of the items listed above.
Execmgr.log on the client shows the following:

  • Uninstalling and Installing the OEM Agent w/o OUI

    Hi DBAs,
I have a 10.2.0.4 Oracle version on AIX with 2 node RAC Cluster. The old agent is 10.2.0.3 which I need to replace with new 10.2.0.4 agent. In order to install new agent, I need to remove the old version of Agent.

    Thanks

  • Silent install for FlashBuilder update

    Hello
i have a FB4 fully automated deployment using the AAMEE tools. I need to deploy the latest 4.0.1 update to everyone.
Is there anyway to automate or make the installation as silent as possible?
Is it posible to "slipstream" the update to my FB4 deployment to make future installations simpler?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
I don't know your more details about how you pretend to deploy your Adobe Reader but I did this to my current deployment and many people on the company are happy with this:
