OUI doesn't find JRE after WXP SP2 install

Situation: Windows XP SP2. Oracle Database Standard Edition 10.1.0.3.
Plenty of free disk space. 512MiB RAM.
When I start Oracle Universal Installer from the start menu, it gives an error message saying the Java RunTime Environment cannot be found somewhere in the temp dir of the user (docs and settings\user\temp\orainstallxyz\jre). That user temp dir contains lots of similar orainstall directories (it seems one is created at each startup of OUI), but the one mentioned indeed has no JRE.
I tried to copy a JRE directory in the specific orainstallxyz directory, but that doesn't help since the next startup, a new one without JRE is created and used anyway.
I tried to empty the temp dir, but that doesn't change anything.
I can still start OUI from other places (the install directory) so it's not terribly inconvenient, but it's still quite strange behaviour.

Hi,
Like Cyber_Defend_Team said, sign in your Windows live account via web method to verify your account is valid.
Then make sure you logon your computer with a Microsoft Live account and not a Local account.
To do this as the following steps:
1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap
Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
2.Tap or click Users.
3.Tap or click Connect your Microsoft account.
4.Select the settings from your Microsoft account that you want to sync with your domain account, and then tap or click
Next.
5.Enter the email address you use as your Microsoft account, and then tap or click
Next.
If you don't already have a Microsoft account, tap or click Sign up for a new email address, and then follow the instructions.
6.Enter the password for your Microsoft account, and then tap or click
Next.
7.Add your security verification info, tap or click Next, and then tap or click
Finish.

  • What settings see Audigy again after XP SP2 install rollbac

No doubt some tick box or entry somewhere corrupted. I have tried reloading the software from the CD back on, tried also uninstalling from CD then reinstalling, tried uninstall from add/rem progs then new install. Have not removed card as working in win2K so not card seating problem.Ghost copied back on the copy I made of my boot dri've prior to messing about with fixes, then tried for a repair from CD. Went into diagnostics and still fail declared, then whilst thats on screen, I was in word and heard paperclip go tink tink, wow...sound back, ran diagnostics and still fail, so its working, and well, and still diagnostics fail. Who cares if its working Do a restore point sensibly.Few hrs later after need for reboot, no sound, so did restore to that restorepoint, but still no sound...oh sod ! Now thats frustrating !?Please help, spent two whole days non stop fixing or trying to.Bloody SP2  its screwed up a few other things that I have now managed to recover. DBenz

Hi John-CL,PC tailor made to my own specs, March 2004, Win XP home SP is PC, this was around then and I wanted everything ok for such. The Motherboard is an MSI 875P neo (lovely board great reviews) having come out circa that time, all latest for XP.Audigy 2 ZSDevice Manager also blank after that SP2 install failed, unable to fix that despite many forum postings by others with same problems usually resolved with permissions in registry.A lot of the XP issues seem to end up in there, permissions, admin etc.Don't suppose video card details matter here. HDs are Seagate Barracudas. ATA onto Raid.Hope this hel
    ps.
Also my Device manager is blank, tried all internet suggestions for others with such, permissions fix etc registry but to no avail. Also installed latest driver. Many thanks for assisting.Desperate here as video editing to do !DBenzMessage Edited by DBenz on 08-27-200703:24 AM

  • Spotlight doesn't find files after Time Machine re-load

So I just got a new macbook pro and transferred everything from my old laptop onto it using Time Machine, which worked amazingly ... only weird thing now is when i search in the Finder Search bar or in Spotlight, it doesn't find any files that were on my old computer. I can find them manually, for example, I can be looking at a file called "house-info.rtf" in my Documents folder, but if i search "house" or even "house-info" it comes up with 0 results.
Any new file (I've made or downloaded on my new machine) comes up fine in the search, it's just files from my previous computer moved over via time machine...
    any ideas?

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
Time Machine does not save Spotlight's index, so your drive has to be re-indexed. It may be that it just hasn't "caught up" yet. Give it some time.
If you're pretty sure it just hasn't done it, you can usually get Spotlight to re-index by excluding your internal HD from Spotlight (System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy) for a few moments, then removing the exclusion. That should make it start over.

  • Tomcat won't work after XP SP2 install?? help, please

    Help please!
Hi, I installed a fresh JDK (1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p), JRE (1.5.0_01), J2EE (1.4_2005Q1), Apache web server (2.0.53-win32-x86-no_ssl) and Tomcat (5.5.7) . Everything seemed to work. I installed XP Service Pack 2 and now Tomcat won't compile JSPs. (I don't know if the SP2 install was the cause).
The service Starts okay, but when I try to hit a jsp, Tomcat takes over my processor (at like 80%) and it starts writing to the stdout log (stdout was set to auto), repeatedly. After being up for like 20 min the log was well over 1 GB in size. It showed the below exceptions repeating ad infinitum.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Tomcat, repaired the Apache installation (that shouldn't matter, should it?), and I am going to try reinstalling JDK/JRE/J2EE, but does anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this?

Is it possible this is resulting from classpaths not
being setup correctly? Could someone please tell me
what my CLASSPATH and PATH enviro variables should be
fod JDK, J2EE, JRE, etc...? Both in general and
specifically to be found by Tomcat. They are
    installed in:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_02
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_02
    C:\Sun\AppServer
    Thanks!Could be.
I think installing anything in directories whose path has spaces in it is a terrible idea. I'd reinstall the JDK to c:\SDKs or something like that.
There's no need for a system CLASSPATH - ever. You shouldn't have one. Use -classpath when you run javac.exe and java.exe to set the CLASSPATH. Tomcat has its own class loaders. You should deploy your Web apps in WAR files - they'll have the CLASSPATH set for you that way.
Your PATH should include the JAVA_HOME\bin.
    set JAVA_HOME=C:\SDKs
set CATALINA_HOME=c:\Tools\Tomcat, or wherever you installed Tomcat.

  • Spotlight doesn't find application after AppStore update

This started happening with Type2Phone, an app from Houdah Software. Every time after I would update the app via the AppStore, Spotlight would no longer find the app (I use Spotlight for app launching). I contacted the developer, and following a series of steps, we found that what is happening is that somehow the updated app is having this attribute added to it:
    kMDItemSupportFileType = ( MDSystemFile )
[This is the output of the mdls command]
This explains why Spotlight is no longer finding the app.
Now logically, he informed me that this command should remove the attribute:
    sudo xattr -d com.apple.metadata:kMDItemSupportFileType /Applications/Type2Phone.app
But although the command executes, it doesn't remove the attribute! I.e.
    mdls /Applications/Type2Phone.app/ | grep MDSystemFile
Still has " MDSystemFile" as output.
I've run Disk Utility to check for directory damage, rebuilt permissions, etc. to no avail. The only solution is to rebuild the Spotlight index completely -- but the problem will recur with a new update.
Although it inexplicably only happened every time I updated Type2Phone, now it's happening when I update Tweetbot.
Any insights into this problem which is driving me batty?

  • Airport doesn't find network after startup when wireless router is hidden

If I have the Wireless Network setting on my router set to "Hide Wireless Network" my Mac can't find the network after I have restarted it.
If I leave the "hide wireless network" box unticked everything works fine, but I would prefer to have it hidden.
Two windows-based laptops also use this router and they work fine with the wireless network hidden.
    The router is a D-link DSL-2740B.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I also confirm the same problem. I do not have any bridges etc on my network. Direct connect from Comcast cable modem to Airport router. The only way to set it correctly so far is to allow the network name to be visible. Whats strange is that I have this same router type at my other place and the other one is working just fine. Perhaps there is some slight hw change recently?

    Hi,
Did you install all pre-req. software packages and OS?
I can see couple of hits on Metalink, so did you go through all the documents? Please see (Note: 880088.1, 465926.1, 454427.1, 468429.1, 549055.1, and 429627.1).
Did AutoConfig complete successfully on the application tier node?

  • My old eMac doesn´t find the hardrive

After restart my eMac it appeared a folder with a question mark. I think my eMac doesn´t find the hardrive. I have tried to reinstall the system but of course it happens the same, it doesn´t find the disc where to install.
I restarted pressing ALT and then appears two arrows but nothing happens when I click on them.
    Please, what can I do?
    Regards.

It sounds to me like your hard drive has failed.
you'll need to get it repaired. They may or may not
be able to recover your data... I hope you have a
    backup system.
    Sorry mate.
Yes, fortunately I have a backup of everything and I have a iMac Intel Duo Core... what´s strange is that this has happen to me four times and the only way of recover the eMac was to format the hardrive. I think this time I going to change it for a new one.

  • WebStart 1.4.2 doesn't find installed JRE for 1.4.2 ?

I have installed J2RE1.4.2_04. As far as I can tell, it works just fine and there are registry keys set for
Java Runtime Environment for 1.4 and 1.4.2_04 which are set to the same thing. However, when I
run my webstart app, I get an error with the general information that "The application has requested a
version of the Java 2 platform (JRE) that is currently not locally installed. Java Web Start was unable to
automatically download and install the requested version. The JRE version must be installed manually."
Having turned tracing and output on, I look in the log and see
    javawsApplicationMain: Installed JRE: null
So, for some reason, WebStart doesn't think I have an installed JRE. Could someone tell me why?
I have tried various incantations of version, such as
    <j2se version="1.4.2_04"/>
    <j2se version="1.4.2"/>
    <j2se version="1.4.2+"/>
    <j2se version="1.4.2*"/>
All of these result in the same error. If I try either of
    <j2se version="1.4+"/>
    <j2se version="1.4"/>
WebStart recognizes that I do in face have a JRE installed, but then I have other problems. I would
prefer to get the 1.4.2 problem fixed first since I require 1.4.2 and some boxes have 1.4.1 on them.
    Thanks for any ideas!

This is confusing and done poorly in my opinion but the only "versions" of Java 2 are 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 (1.5 is coming). If you specify anything past those (as your first four examples do), Web Start assumes a product specific version and you have to provide a URL to download it. Even if it is on the machine, Web Start downloads the version and stores a separate copy of it.
    See http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/developers.html#auto for details.
I think the only thing you can do if multiple versions of 1.4 are installed is go into Web Start preferences and uncheck the box so it is not enabled.

  • Windows cannot find \jre\NT\1.5.0\bin\java

    Hello,
I searched google and found many documents and also tried 1-2 option posted on web but didn't succeed so last solution posting here.
Trying unsupported installation R12(12.1.1) on Windows 7-Professional 64-Bit.
System check succeeded without any trouble but with 33% installation, it gives above error(*windows cannot find \jre\NT\1.5.0\bin\java* ) and installation comes out.
The StartCD came with jre\NT\1.6.0\bin\java directory so i tried to rename the folder with 1.5.0 ( reference and also changed in Rapidwizard.cmd .
but now it doesn't throw any error but after 33% complete, it just exists without too much of information.
The log too had only this info after system check messages
RW-50010: Error: - script has returned an error:   2
    I got following DVDs
    oraAppsDB1
    oraAppsDB2
    oraApps1
    oraApps2
    OraAS
    OraDB
    startCD
and then i tried to create stage area from startCD but it failed as it was asking for a DVD which i didn't have because i tried every DVD i have.
So i manually created directories in stage area(StageR12).
    Appreciate your response.
    Regards!

  • ICal search doesn't find anything

when I test this by creating a future event with a particular word in it, then return to today and search for that word in the little "search" box at top right, it doesn't find that word.
    Why not?

I have also had long standing problems of not being able to search for calendar events, either from within iCal or Spotlight or using mdfind.
None of the suggested solutions worked for me (removing Calendar Cache file, adding and removing folders or drives to the privacy section of Spotlight to re-index, or running mdimport ~/Library/Calendars.
One clue was that mdimport -d2 ~/Library/Calendars would not even look at the individual .ics files within any .calendar/Events directory (no output). I suspected that this was due to LaunchServices not associating these files properly with iCal. My system had previously been upgraded all the way from 10.0 through 10.6.
What finally worked for me was the following, using the Terminal, rebuilding completely the LaunchServices database:
    rm /Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices*.csstore
    *defaults delete com.apple.LaunchServices*
    *sudo /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServi ces.framework/Support/lsregister -kill*
*sudo /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServi ces.framework/Support/lsregister -R -domain local -domain system -domain user*
(note the capital -R in the previous line.)
This step will take a few minutes to complete, with a message about I/O throttleing
reboot (not sure if that is necessary)
    *mdimport -d2 ~/Library/Calendars*
This last command should now show the successful indexing of all calendar events.
After this search finally worked again for me!

  • TS3276 The Finder doesn't find ~/Library/Mail, or even "library". I need to do some experimenting to get my mail back and want to back up but can't even find a file with my messages in it.

Trying to save my email prior to a wave of experimentation to get email working again but finder doesn't find "library". Has the library been omitted from Mountain Lion?

Go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library".
After that you can drag it to your sidebar for easy access.

  • Disk Utility says everything's fine, but Install disk doesn't find my internal drive as a possible destination. When I startup with Command   S, I get a looping "cannot mount errno = 19" message.

Disk Utility says everything's fine, but Install disk doesn't find my internal drive as a possible destination. When I startup with Command + S, I get a looping "cannot mount errno = 19" message.
Problem started when I used Tech Tool Pro 6 to "de-fragment volume". Had to cancel that process before it finished because I ran out of time. Thereafter, when I startup my machine normally, I get the gray Apple logo at first, but it changes to a prohibited symbol (circle with a slash thru it) and hangs.
When I startup holding the Option key, I can see my internal drive, but I get the same results as above.
When I startup using the MacBook OSX Install DVD, it does not find my internal drive as possible destination.
When I startup using the MacBook OSX Install DVD and then run Disk Utility, it finds my drive, allows me to "repair" and says everything is fine.
When I startup with Command + S, I get a looping error message "errno = 19" and cannot stop it to do anything else.
When I startup from Disk Warrior v4.4, it does not find my internal drive to do any repairs.
When I startup from Tech Tool Pro 6 and run the "computer check" diagnostics, everything passes but the Volume Structure, which fails at "Volume Extents (B-tree)." When I use TTP's "Tools" option to run "volume repair" it will show my internal drive and allow me to click the GO button, but nothing happens and nothing changes.
I have a Time Machine backup on an external USB drive, but for as long as the internal drive doesn't mount, I can't use the backup to restore.

It's a false report and should be ignored.
I would not rely on TT as I've already said earlier even before Grant posted similar advice.
I really think the Rigid Disk Block may be corrupted. This holds the partition map and could prevent a volume from being unmounted. Unfortunately, there is no way to fix that without repartitioning the drive which will remove everything. So, before going down this road I hope you have backups or can make a backup.
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.
    5. Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • On Screen Display not working on T61P running WXP SP2

This started with an error on 'tponscr.exe' when I hit a volume button.  I reinstalled the Thinkvantage Hotkeys from the Lenovo site and I no longer get the 'tponscr.exe' error but the on screen display doesn't work (Volume does change tho).  The Fn keys also do not work as well.    System update also did not correct.  Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks,

I've had no luck with the latest HotKey drivers on my T61. I revereted to the driver version that came with the T61 and things seem to be working. In case you want that version, I've posted it to
