OUI installation error (emd.properties file location)

hi!
i'm trying to install new home (10g SE) in a SuSE linux server (which is already having another home (10g EE) running in a different path).
10g (10.2.0.3) Enterprise Edition home location:
$ORACLE_HOME: /app/oracle/product/10.2.0
I have giving the 10g (10.2.0.3) Standard Edition home path in OUI as:
$ORACLE_HOME: /opt/app/oracle/product/10.2.0
The OUI installer throws following error, once I click 'Next' past product specific pre-requisite checks (all passed).
"Error finding file /app/oracle/product/agent10g/sysman/config/emd.properties"
I really don't understand, why is this looking for this file. I believe this file is not related to the database but OMS. Moreover, I'm confused on how it's picking up this path (/app/oracle/product/agent10g/sysman/config) while my new home path is entirely different.
OMS agent is running in this server. Agent home is:
/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/agent/agent10g
Can anyone help on where I'm faultering?
Thanks!

AFAIK, 10.2.0.3 is only available as a patch on top of 10.2.0.1. Are you installing 10.2.0.1 ? Is there a reason for using a desupported version ?

    That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
    Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
    Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
    Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

    Should I run /usr/sbin/slibclean and remove the last patch (Patch 8568398) and then try again?

    You were right. It was a permissions issue:
    hostname:/root# ls -ltr /u02/app/oracle/product/10.2/Db_1/lib/libjox10.so
    -r-xr-xr-x 1 ora10g oinstall 20041728 Apr 23 2008 /u02/app/oracle/product/10.2/Db_1/lib/libjox10.so
    Thanks.

    "is not writeable." means one of two things.
    1. It does not exist.
    2. Permissions are not set correctly.
    Determining which it is ... that is the first step.

  • Apple Mobile Device installation - Error writing to file

    When trying to install any version of iTunes on Windows7_64, I am receiving an error during the installation of the Apple Mobile Device software.
    Error writing to file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe. Verify that you have access to that directory.
    The error occurs when logging in under any user profile, including the local Administrator account.  Full rights and permissions have been verified for the specifiied directory location.
    I have also attempted to manually run the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi standalone file, but the same error continues.  Registry cleaners, Drive scans/repairs, etc. have all been performed without any improvement.
    Has anyone found a way around or resolution for this error?
    Thanks!

    This suggestion was also tried without success.  Anytime the default folder named "Apple Mobile Device" was used, the error would occur.
    I did, however, try something different.  Using the standalone AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi, I instructed the software to install to "Mobile Device Support2" as the installation folder name.  The installation succeeded and I haven't found any problems yet.
    New pathname:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support2\
    Will changing the default installation path in the Common Files directory create any possible issues later?
    Many thanks.

    my project has a "resources" package containing the file "config.properties" which contains various information (connection details among others). correct me if im doing something wrong, but in deploying in, i copied the "dist" folder of my compiled code and then tried to run the java exe independently which resulted in an error. i already tried copying the "config.properties" file to the dist folder and even creating a "resources\config.properties" file but it still results in an error. could you please help me figure out how to deploy the application with the properties file. the code i used in referencing my .properties file is as follows:
    Properties configFile = new Properties();
                configFile.load(this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream("Resources\\config.properties"));
                String username = configFile.getProperty("username");
                String password = configFile.getProperty("password");
                String url = configFile.getProperty("url");
                String dbtype = configFile.getProperty("dbtype");
                Class.forName(dbtype);
                conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password); thanks in advance. ^^

    thank for the help mangst. i guess the IO approach is also applicable ^^; i changed my code to:
    configFile.load( new FileInputStream( ".\\resources\\config.properties" ) );but i had a little trouble in debugging it since it starts the file search from the main project directory. however it works fine upon deployment. ^^; thanks again.

  • Error reading Properties file

    I have a main method which i am using to call a servlet located in the same Development Component. Until recently i had the servlet location hard coded and it was working without issues. Now i decided to make the location configurable. For this i created an sap.application.global.properties file in the EAR DC which contains the WAR of this DC.
    The contents of the above file are as follows:
    SAP application properties
    SERVLET.LOCATION=http://<server-name>/ControllerServlet/servlet/com.nike.xapps.eqptsp.swem.controller.ControllerServlet
    The code i am using in the main method to call this properties file and access the property is as follows:
    Context ctx = new InitialContext();
    ApplicationConfigHandlerFactory cfgHdlr = (ApplicationConfigHandlerFactory)ctx.lookup("ApplicationConfiguration");
    Properties props = cfgHdlr.getApplicationProperties();
    String servlet = props.getProperty("SERVLET.LOCATION");
    contained in a try...catch block.
    On dubugging i get a NoInitialContextException repeatedly in the statement where the lookup is performed.
    These are all the additions i have made for reading this properties file. Does anyone know if there is anything more that needs to be done for this to work.
    Thanks,
    Murtaza.

  • "The system cannot find the file specified" - error reading properties file

    I have packaged a class file and a .properties file in the same folder as a ejb-jar file and in the class file i try reading the properties file and it throws me the error - "The system cannot find the file specified". But when I put the complete path, it has no problem finding the file.
    I know that this must be the problem with classpath, but can anybody tell me why it is not finding the properties file even if they are in the same folder. How do I make class files find .properties file which are in a folder.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    I am not sure if your question is realted to the Oracle Application Server - anyway, if you are packaging a class file and a properties file in a JAR File, you need to read the contents in a different manner...something like this... :
    URL url = new URL("jar:file:/home/duke/duke.jar!/");
    JarURLConnection jarConnection = (JarURLConnection)url.openConnection();
    You might want to have a look at this link for more information :
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/index.html
    You may also get better responses if you post your question in one of the Java Forums.

    Ray,
    The build number indicates that you have not upgraded to Service Pack 2 of
    version 7.0. I will strongly recommend you to do so. That will shield you
    from the issues which were fixed in the 2 service packs.

    Thanks for your response!
    By moving the property files to WEB-INF/classes from WEB-INF, we arealmost there.
    But we have a follow up problem. We use a static initializer to loadthe
    log4j
    property file like this:
    static {
    try {
    ClassLoader cl= (new Log()).getClass().getClassLoader();
    InputStream is = cl.getResourceAsStream(logfile);
    Properties props = new Properties();
    props.load(is);
    PropertyConfigurator.configure(props);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    When we run jwsCompile, we keep getting this:

    Since a Workshop webservice's project is nothing but a webapp, the
    properties files can be kept in the WEB-INF/classes directory, which
    is part
    of the webapp classpath.
    You can also use
    Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream("MyProp

  • Create additional installer error code -12 file not found from device driver cd

    I'm trying to build an installer for a project that includes several NI drivers - specifically NI-DMM. NI-SCOPE, NI-SWITCH, NI-845x, and a few others (MAX, DAQ, etc). When I build the software standalone (and only include the run-time engine), it works fine. However, when I try to build the installer with the additional installers (mentioned above), the build prompts me for device driver cds, and then fails. Specifically, it fails on the February 2006 Device Driver cd. The error is attached below.
    I have tried
     - repairing all the installations of the software mentioned
     - using a new project and re-adding the files
     - building the additional installers seperately (no source code installed)
     - copying the driver cds to the harddrive and referencing them there when needed
    The next step will be to reinstall all of those drivers from scratch, but I really would prefer not to. Does anyone have any ideas (or solutions) regarding this problem?

    I have had this happen a lot espescially with LV 8.0 -8.20. What I had to do was take the device drivers CD and copy it to the and run the installation of the software from the copy on the hard disk.
    When you build an exe with additional installers it looks at the last place that  you installed the drivers from. Anyway it worked for me so it might work for you.

  • "Fatal Installation error" when invoking "File Info"

    When I invoke "File Info" from Bridge or Photoshop, I get the following error. I reinstalled PShop twice, once even as root, and the problem remains. I've tried CS3 as well and bridge just crashes (log file attached). It also happens with a newly created user account. N

    I reinstalled PShop twice, once even as root, and the problem remains.
    With 'even in root' you mean you did not so before?
    Ideally all applications should be installed in the default applications
    folder on root level, every user account has access to them in this way.
    It seems to me you have made a bit of a mess of the installation procedure
    (don't want to make you angry BTW).
    The best way in my opinion would be to back up all your custom settings like
    actions, workspaces, tools, brushes etc. And after this go to the PS help
    menu and choose deactivate, if necessary repeat this for all the Adobe suite
    versions you have on your system (assuming you have all the serial numbers
    also backed up in a safe place).
    Visit also the clean tool page for CS5 and download the tool after having
    read the instructions.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs5clean.html
    Then use the uninstaller from one of the suite applications that can be
    found in the application folder where you installed it. Also repeat this for
    every suite version.
    Use the clean tool to remove everything of CS versions from your system.
    Then do system maintenance using the Apple disk Utility  and choose check
    and repair permissions. (also check your disk)
    Also check if you have the latest OS software with using Apple Software
    update
    Now reinstall your main suite version again on root level and use the Adobe
    auto update to gain all the latest updates.
    You can have multiple version of most suite applications on your system and
    even active together but you can only use Bridge version at the time. Bridge
    has been improved significant for each new version of CS so use the latest.
    Try again.

  • PHP disaster with entropy installation need help with file location

    I have a mac mini snow leopard server running 10.6.5 ,and I was trying to resolve a mcrypt module issue so that I could install wordpress and magento on some of our sites.After doing what I thought was extensive research, I decided to download the entropy php 5.30-3pkg from Marc Liyanage since it was already compiled and had an automatic install.I had the xcode tools installed and was going to attempt to compile it myself,but did not quite understand the instructions on Michael Gracie's site.When I installed the entropy package it told me that i needed to first disable the existing module,and I attempted to uncheck the php5 module,with no luck,as every time I tried to save it it rechecked itself,which I later discovered was happening because of dependency issues, as I had the mail,wiki,etc services on the sites checked. So my problem is that I wasn't aware at the time of the dependency issue,and I just renamed the module and the file name by putting a # in front of both (Inside the server admin dialog box through the pop up window).I didn't think it would hurt since is was going to be disabled,but now i get blank pages when trying to connect,and can't even see a test.php file, nor can I even locate where they say:
    software is supposed to be installed into a new directory /usr/local/php5 on my boot volume. If you ever want to get rid of the package, you only have to remove this directory and a symbolic link called +entropy-php.conf in either /etc/apache2/sites or /etc/apache2/other, depending on whether you run OS X Client or Server.
    Any help would be appreciated !

    Thank you so much, that works just like i wanted it to as it downloads the file but then i have the problem of the file being called firename.png (or whatever i put in there instead)
    using this i changed the code and made it this instead which works 100%
    set download to text returned of (display dialog "Enter IGN" default answer "" buttons {"Download", "Cancel"} default button 1)
    set the destination to (choose folder)
    do shell script "curl -L http://minecraft.net/skin/" & download & ".png" & " -o " & quoted form of ((POSIX path of the destination) & download & ".png")
    so i used the input name again with download and added a .png for the extention and now it downloads the file to the locaiton i specify with the name of the user im entering with the correct exention, 100% awesome ^^
    Thank you everyone who help me with that issue, grately appreshiated

  • Where does the System's Properties file locate?

    I have searched it in the path : Java_Home\jre\lib
    But i couldn't found.
    I want to add some Properties to it but i don't want to do it at runtime by using System.setProterty().

    You can define preferences. But using these are more complex than system properties.
    No matter how you define the System properties in the end setProperty or setProperties needs to be called at runtime. These properties are runtime settings.

  • Location of application-specific properties files

    I am using Tomcat 4.0.3 under WinXP Pro, and I am trying to get my
    application to "find" an application-specific properties file. I am having problems trying to determine which directory to put this file in.
    Here is the Java code I am using for this class:
    import java.util.Properties;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    public class ForumProperties extends Properties {
       private static final String DEFAULT_FILENAME = "/WEB-INF/classes/mystuff.properties";
       private static ForumProperties globalProps;
       private ForumProperties() {
       private ForumProperties(String fileName) throws Exception {
          this();
          load(new FileInputStream(fileName));
       public static ForumProperties getInstance() throws Exception {
          try {
             if (globalProps == null)
                globalProps = new ForumProperties(DEFAULT_FILENAME);
          } catch (Exception ex) {
             ex.printStackTrace(System.out);
             throw new Exception("Error loading properties file");
          return globalProps;
    }I have put the properties file in just about every directory I can think of to try and find out where it's supposed to be, but I can't get it to work. I can put the file into the "user.home" System property (which turns out to be C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator) and have it pick it up, but I would prefer to put the file into the path of the application.
    I have tried four different methods to load this file:
    1. load(new FileInputStream(fileName)); (same as above)
    2. load(Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(fileName));
    3. load(this.getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(fileName));
    4. load(getServletContext().getResourceAsStream(fileName));
    All of them fail for not finding the file except #4, but that's not the
    optimal solution as it requires a servlet context, which for "genericness of code reasons", I DON'T want to do.
    As an aside, I pulled the "java.class.path" from the System properties to see where it's pointing, and all it has in it is
    "<CATALINA_HOME>\bin\bootstrap.jar" with no other paths included.
    Is there an attribute or something in the server.xml or web.xml file I am forgetting to set, or another approach I should be taking?
    Bob

    See if this code fragment helps.
              String MAIN_FILE_PATH = "./BlueGnome/demos/Properties/DemoPropertiesFile.properties";
              java.net.URL url = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getResource(MAIN_FILE_PATH);
              System.out.println("PATH: resolved name = " + url);
              // Get the file.
              // We could just use FileInputStream here.  Then we would have
              // to provide a path that was meaningful to the system like
              //     c:\java\BlueGnome\demos\Properties\DemoPropertiesFile.properties
              // Doing it this way allows us to use generic directory
              // seperators and allows for it to search for the file using
              // the CLASSPATH.  That also allows for it to be in a jar file.
              java.io.InputStream is;
              is = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(MAIN_FILE_PATH);
              if (is == null)
                   throw new Exception("Resource File "
                        + MAIN_FILE_PATH + " not found.");
              aProperties.load(is);
