Oui Inventory dir does not exist or is not writable

Hello there.
So this is another problem when installing 9i on HP-UX 11.0.
After entering the group the oui request to execute the /tmp/OrainstRoot.sh with root privileges.
Finished the script without any errors as root
the oui show an error
The Oracle Universal Installer Inventory on this system does not exists or is not writable.
- I checked that I really executed the script as root without any error
- and the install user (oracle) is member of the install group (oinstall)
So I checked every of the suggested problems without results.
If you encountered the same problems somewhere...please let me know.
Thanks
Sigi

I'm having exactly the same problem trying to install 10g on HPUX 11.23.
The orainstRoot.sh script completed successfully but then I get the same error as you.
Did you manage to resolve this issue? Sorry I'm no help to you,
cheers,
Scott

    HI ,
    Was config tool working earlier?
Please check if direcories sapmnt & saploc exist are you are able to access them.Check permission on it.
May be your windows server got patched and some security policy got changed.Worth a revisiting and checking.
Other thing you can try is take a backup of bootstrap.properties file and modify the location of library from
server\sapmnt\J2EE\sys\global\security\lib\tools to \usr\sap\J2EE\sys\global\security\lib in the bootstrap file.

After install package, configuration (conf.pl) and log in I see error:
Could not create initial preference file!
/var/lib/squirrelmail/data/ should be writable by user nobody
Please contact your system administrator and report this error.
    When I run http://mydomain/squirrelmail/src/configtest.php I see:

Of course /var/lib/squirrelmail/data/ exists (created by pacman) and its is owned by nobody.
Problem is independent of /var/lib/squirrelmail/data/ permission.

  • The printing tmp dir does not get cleaned.

I've been printing some heavy stuff on the mac and i've founded that suddenly 20 Gigs were gone. Searching where did the space went, i've found a lot of stuff in /var/spool/cups and in /var/spool/cups/tmp. The first thing is easy to clean, just need to clean the history of printing, but the tmp does not. Is there a simple way to clean it? The "sudo rm dir" is not a wonderful option, but works. Thanks in advance.

  • WriteDomain( dir ) does not throw an error!

we are trying to automate our domain creation using wlst. If there is an error in the script we expect our program to throw an error such that we can take some preventive measures. That said, we have such script that loads a template and writes the domain to a directory. If for some reason writeDomain fails it does not throw an error!. Which lets our script continue and fail miserably later.
    Is this a bug??
    Thanks,

I have not had that problem. In my script (using WLST on WebLogic 8.1sp5 on Solaris 9) I specified a directory that my user could not create and the return code to UNIX was 255:

  • Secure Store lib Dir does not exist

My system: Enterprise Portal 6.0 in Windows 2003 R2 in SCS-instance in MSCS Cluster
Having moved all ressources to node 2 I can no longer start my appl.server on node 1, since it searches for the Secure Store on P:, which is only available on node 2.
I would like to update the path of the Secure Store to an UNC-path. Problem is that the only reference to P:\ I can find (and therefore makes sense to change) is in <DIR_INSTANCE>\j2ee\cluster\<node>\cfg\kernel\ConfigurationManager.properties, where node is dispatcher or server[012] (4 locations). Other relevant files point to the UNC-path already.
I can see all files in ..\cfg\kernel is updated at the time of my last attempt to start the appl.server, so I suppose the P:\ reference is stored elsewhere...but where?

No, haven't checked environment variables. In my opinion none is needed. Please elaborate on which variables you're referring to.

  • Inventory Services does not start up

    ZFD3.2 installed on "ZFD" resource in a 2-node NW6SP2 Cluster (SOU-SRV3 and
    SOU-SRV4)
I have just installed ZFD3.2 with NCS. When I try to start the Inventory
Service I get the following error message briefly displayed on the Server
    Console Screen:
Could not initialize status logger: Error in initialzing the nds
I have noted that I have two Zen Inventory Service Objects:
    SOU-SRV3_ZenInvService & SOU-SRV4_ZenInvService.
I would have thought that during the install I would have an inventory
service object that represented the virtual server object. ie:
SOU-CLUSTER1_ZFD_SERVER_ZenInvService). It is this virtual server object
that I have configured as the Inventory Service DN in the Config.Properties
    file.
Have I made an error during the install or do I just need to modify the
    Config.Properties file?
Any help would be appreciated as I really want to get this working as a
    Cluster Resource.
    Thanks in advance

  • Add HW Inventory class that does not exist in a default inventoried class

    Hello all,
I am trying to find a way to create a new class to supersede the win32_logicaldisk class. We are looking to add the VolumeDirty flag since it does not exist in the current SMS_logicaldisk class. However I cant seem to find a good way to do this. Has anyone
done something like this before? Adding new classes doesn't seem to be difficult, but since this is a default WMI class that is being inventoried, I don't want to make any modifications to it as I know I will regret it down the road. I was thinking maybe creating
a configuration item and inventorying it that way? Thoughts? Or is this even possible? Thanks in advance!
    Scott

I do similar things--create a new I-Made-It-Up class to pull in something that the default doesn't.  I understand and agree with not modifying default classes--it perhaps would never be a problem--but if (perhaps maybe) some future upgrade or cumulative
update failed to install because you modified a default class, it could be a sad sad day.  :)
If you want me to just write the mof edit for you, let me know.  Otherwise for a sample of how to do that; look at the mof edits for 'making up my own' SQL inventory:
    http://mnscug.org/blogs/sherry-kissinger/328-installed-sql05-sql08-sql12-sql14-version-information-via-configmgr-hardware-inventory
Essentially, you make up a configuration.mof edit; making a 'copy of' what you really want out of win32_logicaldisk, but you dump it into a cm_scott_x_awesomeness  (or whatever you want to call it), and you put that at the bottom of configuration.mof
    on your server.
Then your to-be-imported.mof into default client, hardware inventory, classes... import (if you're old skool, the sms_def.mof piece of it) will be a .mof file to inventory cm_scott_x_awesomeness
Just be careful to name what you really want to see in v_gs_NameThatView inside the quotes SMS_Group_Name and SMS_Class_ID.  You'll be living with that table and view name forever, so maybe, perhaps, calling it Scott_X_Awesomeness just might not be
the best name ever (although it sounds great right now, at review time w/the boss maybe not so much).
    Standardize. Simplify. Automate.

Please let me know if you are cloning or installing.
any work around to fix that after install? You can always recreate the centrl inventory in case of corruption/deletion/did not create by rapidwiz as follows
Note 742477.1 How to create, update or rebuild the Central Inventory for R12
How to Create a Clean oraInventory in Release 12 [ID 834894.1]
or i can try re-install alsoYou do no not need to reinstall.
Please also note that from R12, rapidwiz creates local inventories which is present in each of its own ORACLE_HOMEs

  • Central Inventory does not exist

Running rapidwiz for R12.1.1 new installation on Linux 5.5. No other Instances installed.
File system checks errors with the following:
Central Inventory does not exist. Skipping central inventory check...
Trying local inventory in Oracle Home...
    Cannot find oraInventory

I am installing this fresh. There is nothing else on the box. Why do I have to recreate something that was never created in the first place? You never mentioned this above, and installing R12 could be part of the upgrade (that's why I have posted the docs above).
Some of those notes say reinstall Oracle. Is it supposed to create the oraInst.loc file in /etc when I start the installer?Yes it will.
I found a note that say's by design in R12 you do not have to run root.sh to create the oraInst.loc file. So what creates it?
Is there a file someplace that is hidden that say's the inventory is created so don't create it when rapidwiz runs? I've run this install a few times and deleted all the files created each time. Am I missing a file? Please check the installation log files for details about the error.
    Thanks,
