I tried all possible ways with google help but still i am facing the same issue.Kindly check and suggest to solve the issue.
Thanks in advance.
Vijay.Hi all,
I give you the clear details about the issue what i am currently facing,
1. I installed the 11g (11.2.0) database alone(No EBS) in my local vmware machine.
2. Created my ORACLE_HOME under /u01/oracle/prod/tech_st/product/11.2.0/db_1 directory after that i tried to change my home location from /u01/oracle/prod/tech_st/product/11.2.0/db_1 location to /u01/oracle/db/tech_st/product/11.2.0/db_1 location, like created /u01/oracle/db directory and moved files from /u01/oracle/prod location.
3. I changed my bash_profile and exported home with the modified location also deregistered an old home and registered the new home.
4. When i am issuing echo $ORACLE_HOME it is showing the current home location and ORACLE_SID is same what i created before.
5. But when i am trying to create one more db using DBCA utility it is through the above error.
Please suggest me is it possible to change the location after db creation or any extra steps i have to do for this issue.
Thanks. -

But this problem is understandable, as the database is not running. The main problem why database is not running, I have found the reason but do not understand how to solve the problem.
Since, the database was not running, I tried to startup the database, I then came across the following which is my problem (Why so many files are open? Linux OS error says too many files open. See below,
SQL> conn /as sysdba

Can anybody has run into such problem and guide me to a solution, please?
ThanksHi,
yes, this DB was functioning o.k. this configuration script was part of RMAN daily backup.
Last night the backup failed. So, when I opened "Failed job" in the EM, I saw this type of messages.
That was the starting point. Gradually, I tried to narrow down on to the actual problem and found the findings as I have posted.
One way of sovling problem, I thought that, all these processes I would kill and then try to open the database, it might startup. However, that wouldnot lead me in ensuring this won't occur again.
That's why I am trying to understand why it should open, so many processes (why spawn so many .flb files?) Any thoughts you have around this?
I will try to restart the OS as the last resort.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Any time, it happens to you this situation? My database server use a SAN solution, this is a HITACHI.
The solution was restart the database server.
And please, would you me explain why the database down the instance?
thanks a lot
chijarHi,
>>And please, would you me explain why the database down the instance?
In fact, the Oracle server consists of an Oracle Instance and an Oracle database. An Oracle instance is the combination of memory structures that Oracle initializes and the background processes that Oracle creates when you start the Oracle server. A control file is a binary file, which the Oracle server updates frequently when the Oracle instance is running. In your case, for some reason the control file suffered some Input/output error so, the database wouldn't function normally and that's why the instance suddenly shuts down.
Cheers

)The tnsnames.ora file has nothing to do with getting your listener started, but it has everything to do with resolving a connect string service name. As others have pointed out, your listener is not listening on the same port that will be used by any connection requests using the tnsnames you showed. But again that has nothing to do with getting the listener started.
Also, you have 3 different entries for "test" in your tnsnames, which will cause you problems trying to debug connection problems - once you get your listener started - which, again, has nothing to do with your tnsnames file.
As already requested, show us the command you use to start your listener, and the results. Copy and paste, don't describe and interpret.
And please go to your profile and create an alias that looks like someones name. No one can keep up with "user123456" -

Is the number of open files adjustable?
Why am I opening files?
Could the fact that our java stored procedures are trying, unsuccessfully, be leaving files open?
Thanks - Craig
nullincreasing the oracle users ulimit to unlimited fixed that error for me. Type
ulimit -a
and look at the open files parameter. See your linux doc's to increase it to unlimited (will probably be increased from 1024 to 4096). -
Native Reader for x86_64 Linux ?
Is there any hope for a native x86_64 Linux Reader?
64 bit Flash Player works fine allready.
(see http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/64bit.html)
I would love to remove all 32bit compatibility libraries from my machine.^Never like those instructions as they are most suited for Windows and not Mac and Linux especially. There is also no installer on Mac and Linux.
The issue may be due to you using 32-bit Firefox 25.0 instead of 64-bit Firefox 25.0. If using 32-bit Firefox you need 32-bit Plugins, not 64-bit.
The 64-bit Linux build of Firefox 25.0 can be found at
http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/25.0/linux-x86_64/ Just pick your language.
Mozilla only lists the 32-bit Linux releases on mozilla.org -

It doesn't matter how I access the URL, I've tried both http://localhost:8080/htmldb and http://realhostname:8080/htmldb/ with same result, no data at all, the connection is closed directly.
I've checked listener.log and found this:

Using netstat and lsof I found that XE not only binds to 1521 and 8080, but also to port 33172 and since iptables blocks everything it got "No route to host".
The question is if 33172 is static or just a randomly chosen port number. -
Hi,
I just installed oracle-xe-10.2.0.1-1.0.i386.rpm on a virtual CentOS box. After I run "/etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure", only listener is running, not the instance itself and $ORACLE_HOME/config/log/CloneRmanRestore.log says

Any ideas what can be wrong?

Unfortunately the wmem/rmem params can't be changed, as I learned it's a limitation of the virtual hosting, Virtuozzo. Anyway they are "just" for network setting, not for RAM.Yes - but worthy of noting once you run into your next problem. :-)
>
Couldn't be the problem that I really don't have enough disk space? Only 1.9 GB free. It's unlikely.
I suspect that the SHMMAX setting needs to be increased to 1/2 physical RAM, as described in the doc I referenced.
I suspect the installer is looking at the physical RAM and guessing the target SGA size based on that. It would therefore assume, for DB creation, that it should crank the SGA to around 700MB (1GB max, leave some for PGA, but use some SGA because of SHared Server for APEX)
