OuickTime for 64 bit OS
I was just notified (Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit) of an update from QuickTime 7.6.4 to 7.6.5. I downloaded the update, and then attempted to install.
I get this message:
"This installer is intended for 32 bit versions of Windowes. It is highly recommended that you download and install the 64-bit itunes installer instead. Continue with install?"
I selected "no", and went looking for the 64-bit version. I seems to be no where to be found!
Oh, There it is (maybe) under iTunes! - 9.0.2 for Windows 64 bit.
Does this include QuickTime 7.6.5?
Sorry wcbncal, our posts crossed. (Thanks for the confirmation about the presence of QT 7.6.5 in the 64-bit iTunes installer.)
I think QuickTime remains 32-bit ... indeed iTunes itself is primarily 32-bit. the Apple Mobile Device Support is 64-bit (it runs the 64-bit version of the usbaapl.sys driver for iPhones and iPod touches), and the 64-bit version of the installer has the 64-bit versions of the GEAR drivers iTunes uses for burning and importing. Pretty sure BonJour and Apple Application Support are 32-bit too.
So the SysWOW componentry is handling most of the Apple software on your system at the moment.

Data Federator XI 3.0 using DB2 VARCHAR FOR BIT DATA Column?
We have a column in a DB2 database that is defined as VARCHAR(16) FOR
BIT DATA.
We are using the suggested IBM JDBC driver, db2jcc.jar, against a DB2
OS/390 8.1.5 version database.
The Datasource column displays a data type of NULL, indicating the DF
does not understand or cannot handle this IBM data type.
We have two issues.
First, target tables are not able to return any columns, regardless if
we exclude columns defined as NULL as mentioned above. We see the
'Wait' animation for a very long time when we use the 'Target table
test tool' option. Selecting to display the count only, returns zero.
We are able to fetch and view non-NULL column data when using the
'Query tool' under the Datasource pane.
I also get the same result when using the 'My Query Tool' in Server
Administrator; a selection agains the sources returns data while
selecting from a target table returns no data. Also, a 'select
count(*)' returns zero.
The second issue is in mapping a relationship between two DB2 tables
where the join is between two columns of the above mentioned type
(NULL).
The error we get back when we use "Show Errors" is "The types
'NULL' (in 'S1.PLANNEDGOALID') and 'NULL' (in 'S2.PLANNDEDGOALID') are
not compatible.". When reviewing the relationship, a dashed red line
appears instead of a solid grey line between the two tables in the
"Table relationships and pre-filers" section of our mapping pane.
The following query returns an error via the Server Administrator
Query Tool; "Types 'NULL' and 'NULL' are not compatible for operator
'=' (Error code : 10248)".
select count(*)
from
(select s1.CASEID, s2.PLANNEDGOALID, s2.NAME, s2.PLANNEDGRPSTTYCD
from "/DF_CMS_ODS/sources/CMFSREPT/CMSPROD.PLANNEDGOAL" AS s1
,"/DF_CMS_ODS/sources/CMFSREPT/CMSPROD.PLANNEDGOAL" s2
where s1.PLANNEDGOALID = s2.PLANNEDGOALID)
Here are the properties settings in the Resource Connector Settings
for jdbc.db2.zSeries we are using.
capabilities: isjdbc=true;orderBy=false
driverLocation: drivers/db2jcc_license_cisuz.jar;drivers/db2jcc.jar
jdbcClass: com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver
sourceType: db2
supportsCatalog: no
urlTemplate: jdbc:db2://<hostname>[:<port>]/<databasename>
Here are the Connection parameters as defined for the datasource in DF
Designer.
Defined resource: jdbc.db2.zSeries
Jdbc connection URL: jdbc:db2://DB2D03:50000/CMFSREPT
Authentication: Use a specific database logon for all Data Federator
users.
User Name: x
Password: hidden
Login domain: -- Choose a defined login domain --
Supports Schema: checked
Schema: is empty
Prefix table names with schema name: checked
Supports catalog: unchecked
Prefix table names with the database name: unchecked
Table types: TABLE and VIEW
So, the following is the two questions we require answers for...
Is this a limitation of Data Federator?
Is there a work around short of changing the datatype in the database.Hi Darren,
The VARCHAR() FOR BIT DATA is a binary data type and Data Federator does not support binaries. But if in your case, it makes sense to map this column to a VARCHAR data type you can configure the DB2 connector to view this column as a VARCHAR.
Your column can be mapped explicitly to a data type of your choice using a property: castColumnType.
This property can be set updating the resource you selected when you registered you DB2 data source.
If the resource is "jdbc.db2", then:
1. Launch Data Federator Administrator
2. Click on "Administration" tab
3. Click on "Connector Settings"
4. Select the right resource: "jdbc.db2"
5. Click "Add a property"
6. Select "castColumnType"
7. Set its value to: VARCHAR() FOR BIT DATA=VARCHAR
8. Click on Ok
You should see this column as a VARCHAR.
Regards,
Mokrane
PS: For the target table issue, we have forwarded your mail to the Data Federator Designer team. -
How to read char() for bit data DB2's type in Oracle?
Hello,
I am developing an application (from JDeveloper) to operate with two data base. In one hand threre is Oracle and in the other one DB2 (AS400).
I am trying to read a DB2'sfield with the "char() for bit data" type from Oracle, but I can't read it.
I have trying:
rset.getObject(1) -->[B@1a786c3
rset.getBinaryStream(1) --> java.io.ByteArrayInputStream@1a786c3
rset.getAsciiStream(1) --> java.io.ByteArrayInputStream@2bb514
rset.getCharacterStream(1) -->java.io.StringReader@1a786c3
Do you have any solution to see the value of this type of field?
Thank you and regardsI have to synchronize unidirectionally from the Oracle database to DB2. And I'd like to save the information of the record of DB2 prior to the update operation.
And here is where the problem arises for me, because when I try to read from Java with the connection established on DB2 is unable to interpret the information. While there are no problems from Oracle to consume the information, it happens that DB2 field types are not common with Oracle, such as char () for bit data. From what I could find the equivalent in Oracle would be raw (), but since Java is possible to read this type of information... And this is my doubt, it is necessary to do any type of cast or to do a special view to retrieve this information? -
"current encoder settings for bit rate and sample rate are invalid" message
I have some files I am working with. Details and what happened:
Had some music files where I was doing some trimming/splitting. Files worked fine in itunes.
Open the files in Quicktime Pro 7 to trim them. Exported to aif.
Opened the files with itunes. They open and play just fine.
In Itunes I click"create AAC version" to convert them.
I receive the message "An error occurred while trying to import the file. The current encoder settings for bit rate and sample rate are not valid for this file."
I don't know what to do from here. Suggestions?
Thanks.Make sure that the AIFFs that you export are set for 16 bit PCM.
Also, assuming that you are using 44.1 kHZ sampling in your AIFFs, make sure that you are not trying to use 48 kHz in the AAC. -
Best method for BITS(Background Intelligent Transfer Service) deployment
Hi,
What is the best method for BITS(Background Intelligent Transfer Service) deployment for over 2000+ Windows 2008 servers at once? Also, does it matter on Windows 2008\2008 R2\2012 if the SCCM agent is installed before we deploy BITS to the servers?

What do you mean by Deploy BITS to the servers? The BITS client should already be installed on then as it is native to the OS.

Change default communication port for BITS
We are currently using ConfigMgr2007 (native mode). We currently have a global GPO wihich is throttling BITS to 56kpbs during current business hours (8am-5pm). It has been suggest to use QoS to controll the amount of traffic used by SCCM distributions
to clients. Seeing the BITS uses HTTP (80) and HTTPS (443) by default, is there a way to change the default ports used by BITS.
I did find the following article (About Configuration Manager Client Installation Properties)
that there are two setting which can change the default ports.
CCMHTTPPORT=
CCMHTTPSPORT=
Is there any other methods to change the Default port for BITS communication as a whole. Thanks Kent and Jason. I know I posted in the ConfigMgr forum and you pointed my to the proper documentation. We have non-Microsoft email archiving product which utilizes BITS which is the reason for the general question regarding BITS.
I did not see a dedicated forum for BITS so I posted here.
The documentation as suggested by Kent will assist with making changes for ConfigMgr if necessary. -
My iPad getting very warm when i use it for bit in longer time
Why my ipad is getting very warm when i use it for bit in longer time, any body has same experience?, Why my ipad is getting very warm when i use it for bit in longer time, any body has same experience?
The Temperature warning usually appears when the iPad has been set in a place where it gets so hot to the touch that you'd almost burn your hands if you picked it up. The temperature caused by the processor or charging the battery should never reach that level. If you feel your pad is too warm when you are using it Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

Trying to import cd when this message appears "the current encoder settings for bit rate and sample rate are not valid for this file". Any suggestions?
Thanks so very much. I chose MP3 and Download and it is working beautifully. Have a wonderful day and it is so nice of you to get right back to me. I'm trying to cut a DVD for my grandson's grad party and I got most of the photos and didn't have any music since I lost everything in a clean install. Could hug you!

Please answer?
... Can I upload this to the Cloud BIT for BIT
No. iTunes Match is what it implies... it finds a "match" in iTunes' immense library.
None of your CD's content is actually uploaded to iCloud.
In short, there is no substitute for a backup of the device containing your iTunes Library. -
Suggestions for bit rate for books on cd
Hi
I'm trying to clear some room on my ipod. Thus far I've been importing everything at 192. I'm hoping to reimport some of the books on cd that I've put on and would like some suggestions as to how low of a bit rate I can use without affecting sound quality too much (I tried 96 and really couldn't tell the difference).
Thanks
EvelynHi, Evelyn.
For spoken word recordings, 32 kbps is generally considered an acceptable setting.
And, for what it's worth, that's the Bit Rate for Audiobooks purchased from the iTunes Store.

Short Answer for Bit Rates...
Greetings!
I am doing a second version of my 90-minute 4:3 SD MPEG-2/Dolby2 DVD.
This second version is only 50 minutes.
Can someone please help me with maxamizing my Bit Rates for 50 minutes?
I want as much video quality as recommended for newer home DVD players.
From FCP 5.04 (with all render files trashed), I Export> Compressor:
2 pass VBR
Average BR: 6.9
Max BR:8.1
Quality: Best
Should I go higher or lower?
Sound:
Dolby2: 224
Should I go higher or lower?
Any comment welcome.Thanks.
I did the 50-minute MPEG2 at Constant Bit Rate (one pass), 7.0 and Best.
It turned out as good as I ever got from iDVD which is okay.
After hanumang's tip on the Compressor 2-pass VBR "BUG" --- I finally realized what was "wrong" with my 90-minute (2-pass VBR) DVD.
In fact, pixelation looked so goofy I ate all the time and completely redid the 90-minute MPEG2 at CBR 7.0 & Best and it looked as good as the 50-minute DVD.
+++
Not to be too negative, but my experience with Apple's "professional" MPEG-2 VBR encoder is very disappointing -- the version I paid a lot of money for is clearly sub standard and would have been an embarrasment to send out.
I read here that they have fixed it in a .1x (?), but that fire drill is more than a week away, no help now, (plus $50 that I mailed today).
+++
In any case, I've completed my 2-DVD project and would like to thank everyone who helped me.

Is it convenient for bits operation in labview?
Hi,
I want to deal with the protocal to the DAQ original data. The frequent work is bits operation. But I wonder if it is convenient in labview.
Thanks againgemstone wrote:

Have a look at the bit twiddling challenge results and you'll
get an idea of serious bit twiddling - I guess LV was working
at about the same sort of speed as you could manage in tightly
coded C.
However, thats a lot more complex than most of the bit twiddles
you need to do for protocol stuff. Mostly it is things like
"Is bit 3 of this word set?" and "Set bit 2 of this word".
These are most easily accomplished by doing boolean logic
on unsigned words, the same way as yould do in almost any other
language, and just as quick in labview.
If you're interested in getting things to work as rapidly as possible,
avoid the "number to boolean array
" functions.

Will Firefox be adding support for .bit domains?
There is a new decentralized domain name system that has been built called namecoin. The problem is that no browsers support it currently so the only to view the domains is through complicated software or proxies. I am wondering if there are any plans on adding support for this system to Firefox?
Not directly as is looks like dns.bit is not working, but it looks like you need a proxy [http://dot-bit.org/HowToBrowseBitDomains#Use_a_DNS_server_that_support_.bit_domains]
Have you tried this?
Also Firefox will simply 'asks the system to resolve a fqdn'(ty Cork!) -
Is there any solution for bit rate error tester by ni ?Speed should be around 20Gbps.
Like "Tektronix' BSA260C does ni have any solution?
Reply urgently...........Hi aruban,
most of us are not working for/at NI - we just use NI products!
So your best source of information for this kind of question would be NI itself. Ask them and then post your solution here, as others may search for such hardware too...

I've just been through the incredible pain involved in setting up a dos system with bootcamp. Errors on the XP disc (because it uses '-' that is rendered as '_'), so many that you wonder if it was a first year project to put that install disc together!
Anyway, what I'd like to do now is make an exact copy of the 32Gb partition - one that I can simply replace to get it to the identical state that it is in now - that I can then compress and keep as a handy backup in lots of places.
I've got toast if that's good. I'd be happy to use dd as well. With dd, I'm just not sure if this would work [if so, I'd be grateful for confirmation!]:
dd if=/dev/dosdisc of=bitbackup bs=32m
then, to restore it:
dd if=bitbackup of=/dev/dosdisc bs=32m
I'm concerned that the above might not do things like get the MBR (Master Boot Record) correctly. If not, is there an easy fix for that too?Hi,
I am not familiar with 'dd' so no answer to that.
I use WinClone to backup/image my BootCamp Windows http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/25932
