Our school has 12 iPads for a Garage Band concert..?

Our school has 12 iPads for a Garage Band concert.  We need to purchase the in-app "expansion" for them to be used properly.  How can we go about doing this without creating 12 Apple ID's for the process, and how do we manage the purchase correctly?
Our district can load them up, but due to purchasing restraints cannot pay for them.  I just need to know the best way to go about getting 12 iPads to all be the same and all have the same unlocked in-app purchase.  The money is not the issue, we have the funds.

One more thing... can you tell me how to stop all of these emails from the support communities.  I turned off all my email notifications in my preferences but my email is blowing up with dozens of emails minutes apart.  Does it take time before turning notifications off works... or am I missing something else?

You need to look at the EULA for each app.

I have the latest version IPAD.  In Garage Band I am trying to import karaoke songs purchased on itunes so that I can sing with them via garage band.  In Garage Band, when I try in import a song from Itunes, nothing comes up?  How do I do this...?

Make sure you understand the difference between an Audio File and a GarageBand Project File (also known as GarageBand Song File)
The + sing in the My Songs page is for opening a GarageBand Project File, either a new one or one that is copied vie the iTunes File Sharing mechanism. If I understand you right, then you want to import an Audio File from your iTunes library in a GarageBand Project and not open an existing GarageBand Project.
To import an Audio File from your iTunes Library to an existing GarageBand Project.
Make sure you sync your iTunes Library (all songs or a selection) to your iPad. This is the standard procedure so you can listen to your iTunes Library on your iPad (this step has nothing to do with GarageBand yet)
Once you are in your GarageBand Project, tap the Loop Browser icon (the ribbon) to open the Loop Browser
The misleading part here is that this window can display three tabs, not only the Apple Loops. It also displays any synced audio file via the iTunes Fle Sharing (the tab is labeled "Audio Files) and also any songs that you have synced to yoyr iPad that I just described. This tab is now called "Music".
Look at the screenshot of my previous post. The Music tab provides the same browsing capabilities (Playlists, Artist, etc) as your iTunes.
Navigate to the Kareoke Song (audio file) and drag it onto a GarageBand audio track
I explain all those details and concepts in my GarageBand book
    Hope that helps

My daughter has used our iPad for her Apple account and now I can't use the App store because her username automatically shows up in the Apple ID window.  How do I change that so I can put our Apple ID in with the appropriate Password?

    Open Settings -> Store

  • I am an English teacher, and my school just bought iPads for my students and me. I want to use Dropbox for file sharing and to be able to edit their work on my iPad so that my students will be able to open their work from Dropbox and see my corrections.

I would like my editing marks and comments to save in Dropbox in a contrasting color. The students will then need to be able to open the document and make corrections, then save again to Dropbox. Thanks for any ideas!

Thanks, everyone, for these helpful suggestions. Before we got the iPads last week, we were saving compositions from desktops onto the school server. There was not a problem with the students seeing other students' files, so I didn't password protect them, but there was the issue of copying all their work onto a thumb drive so I could grade it at home. I like accessing files in the cloud much better. Under the previous system, I was also printing out their work and marking it up for the students to correct before I put it on our class web site. Now under this new system, I would like to go paperless, sharing my digital revisions with the students as they perfect their work before I put the final products online. This usually takes 3 or more revisiosns. So far, I have tried the following apps: Quickoffice, Documents to Go, Writeup, Plaintext, Pages, Essay, and Droptext. The students and I have no trouble saving into and retrieving from Dropbox, but there is no good way so far for me to edit their work in color so that they can open up the file and see my comments in order to make their revisions. I do have this capability on my laptop and desktop by using the redlining feature in Word. It's just that I'd rather be able to use my iPad for this purpose. I will check out Evernote.

  • When I connect my iPad mini to my iMac it recognizes the iPad but my Garage Band documents are not available for transfer. How can I fix this?

I'm having trouble transfering my garage band documents from my iPad mini to my iMac. iTunes recognizes the device, but when I select the app to add or save files to... nothing appears there, as if I had not recorded anything on my iPad. Can anyone help me?

    Hi there
to make your files to appear in the apps section of iTunes you have to take some  steps.
    - go to Garageband on your iPad
    - tap My Songs to go to the list of your songs (if your are not already there )
    - tap Select
    - select one song
    - tap the share button (top left)
    - tap itunes
    - you are then asked to chose a format. There is an explation for each format.
    - Choose one
    - repeat the last 5 steps  with every song you want to transfer.
    - when your done tap done
The songs should now appear when you connect the iPad.
    Hope that helps

  • I am trying to connect my ipad version of garage band to my mac book pro so as to record directly from the ipad as a midi instrument but with no success.  Can you help?

I am trying to connect my ipad to my mac book pro.  I want to use the ipad as a software instrument (playing from garage band) and to record in garage band on the mac book.  I have plugged the ipad in, turned on the ipad and opened up garage band but the mac book pro has not picked it up.  Why?  Any suggestions.

Maybe it should, I'm all PC here so I can't actually test it myself. As far as I can recall all the stuff I've read has GarageBand for iOS acting as the recording instrument in the MIDI relationship rather than an input device for something else.
Could be worth posting to GarageBand for iOS Feedback and suggesting it as a feature.

  • I want to use my ipad2 to connect to garage band on my mac and record from my ipad directly to garage band

I like the guitar sound on my ipad and want to incorporate it into a project that I have on my Mac in garageband.  Is there any way to hook my ipad up to my mac and use it like I would the keyboard I use to record into garage band?

To do it, you have to partition the hard disk, so you will have one partition for Time Machine and another one to store files and use them in a PC and Mac. To create the partition, follow these steps > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html
In order to read and write in the external disk on the PC, you have to select "MS-DOS (FAT)" as "Format". If you choose any other option, the PC won't be able to read your external disk. Apart from that, note that you can't use files bigger than 4 GB with FAT. If you want to use the external disk with files bigger than 4 GB, you have to format your new partition in exFAT, and you have to do it on a PC

  • IPad with iMovie/Garage Band - sample video

My son and I made this over the weekend. ALL created and edited using iMovie and Garage Band for iPad. Filmed with an Olympus E-PL2 camera.

Hi - I used handbrake, imported into iTunes, synced to iPad and opened in iMovie. It was a long process but the only one that seems to work for now...
For importing footage shot with the iPhone, you can transfer it to the iPad using an app called "PhotoSync" and it worked flawlessly for me. I prefer shooting with my E-PL2 though. Thank you all for the comments

  • GarageBand for a Garage Band help

Hello everybody, I've got some questions. Recently I formed a Garage Band, and fortunately I own a Mac. Now I've played around with GarageBand before, and I know how it works. What I don't know how to work, is hardware. I want to plug in two guitars, a bass, a keyboard, mic, and drums (electric or mic) into the computer, and put each instrument into a separate track. How do I do this? I have no clue what I'm looking for, I don't know what cables I need, and I don't know how much it'll cost me. If anyone can give me some insight, I'd love it. Thanks in advance!

  • Microphone for filming choir/band concerts

We film a lot of middle and elementary school choir and band concerts, create DVDs for the parents. As of now, we just use the audio that we get from the 3 inexpensive mini dv cameras we shoot with. The results are actually pretty good, especially if the soloists are playing into a mic from the house sound. In general, nothing else is mic'ed just the wonderful sound you get inside a gymnasium that is used for the concerts. My question is this. Is there a microphone that I could connect to one of my cameras, maybe run it up to the front and get better audio? I have heard that there are flat mics that are made for this but have no experience with them. Or, should I just be happy with the results I am getting with the inexpensive mini dv and its built in mic. Thanks so much in advance for your expert advice.

We film a lot of middle and elementary school choir and band concerts------------
then you should be able to afford some extra kit that will give you far reaching benefits
should I just be happy with the results I am getting with the inexpensive mini dv and its built in mic-------
no you should certainly not be happy
you really need to read up on some basic sound recording techniques to increase your skills
Is there a microphone that I could connect to one of my cameras-------------
    consider a small pop concert:
    4 vocalists - 10 musicians
may be 5 direct inject for guitars keyboard,
15 different mic types, occupying 24 channels on the sound desk with over 20 setups per hour
compare that to your one on camera mic resulting in appalling sound reproduction.
my take on this would be:
record the instruments not the sound from the hall,
use the well proven close mic technique: place mics close to at least each group of instruments - sax, trumpet percussion etc
with mics placed for soloists or feature instruments on good adjustable mic stands
using a specific mic type for each section of the ochestra
    vocals - cardioid
bass drum - high sound pressure omni dynamic
woodwind - fast attack cardioid condencer
    etc etc
    also
never use an on camera mic - it will record great sound of the main drive motor, the operators hands adjusting the camera and unwanted sound from the immediate surroundings. Also, on camera mics are the cheapest, poorest quality you could obtain, one step up from a computer mic, invest in some basic quality musical instrument mics
    - you should be monitoring your sound, via headphones from the sound mixer, get to know the sound being recorded, not the sound you hear in the hall
    - rifle mics, correctly called lobar profile mics are generally no use for musical instruments, they are designed for vocal sounds, be they human or otherwise, they are only used for highly specialst placement as they reproduce a dull flat sound from musical instruments
see this 'find the right microphone' web site:

    happy recording
