Out-File to CSV holds on to information

Hey everyone,
Here is my issue. I have a Powershell v2.0 application that I created using Sapien Powershell Studios, that sends information to a CSV. Then I have another script(batch) that reads the CSV, but does not find any information until I physically open the
CSV file, save, and close the file. The information does indeed go to the CSV I have confirmed that. Does anyone have any ideas? I have posted my code below.
Powershell
Out-File -Append -FilePath $namesFile -InputObject @(" ")
Out-File -Append -FilePath $namesFile -InputObject @($tfPO.Text + "," + $tfLoc.Text + ", Qty: " + $qty.Text + ", ," + $username)
Out-File -Append -FilePath $namesFile -InputObject @(" ")
for ([int]$i = 0; $i -lt $datagrid.RowCount; $i++)
Out-File -Append -FilePath $namesFile -InputObject @($datagrid.Rows[$i].Cells['Serial'].Value + "," + $datagrid.Rows[$i].Cells['Hostname'].Value + "," + $cbType.SelectedItem.ToString() + "," + $cbImage.SelectedItem.ToString())
Batch(I know this works fine)
FOR /F "delims=, tokens=2,3,4" %%A in ('type y:\names.csv ^| FIND /i "%Serial%"') do Set Model=%%C
I have also tried to utilize the Type command by itself thru command prompt. I am also looking for a work around that will open the CSV, save and close or similar. Here are the ones that I have tried that have not worked.
Get-Content
$file = Get-ChildItem -LiteralPath $namesfile
$stream = $file.OpenRead()
$stream.Close()
Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

Use Export-Csv to export the grid data.
This should work.

  • Win 2008  WL 10.3.3 stdout appearing in .log and .out files

    Recently noticed a ballooning [ServerName].out file in the logs directory. In weblogic management console I do have it configured to redirect stdout and stderr to weblogic logging (.log file). Both the .log and .out file contain the same stdout/stderr information. I would like to eliminate the .out file if possible (since WL only rotates the .log), but cannot find where it is configured. The managed servers are NOT windows services (no -log option).
    Did not find any logging parameters in JAVA_OPTIONS or paramters in the startManagedSvc.cmd file.
    Is this something needing to be corrected at the application level? (log4j)

  • Why won't excel read my csv file created with the powersell out-file automatically.

    I wrote a PowerShell script that creates a CSV formatted file.  The script simply creates a comma delimited string for each entry and adds it to a collection.  Then the out-file command write it to a file.
    When you open it with Excel each line is put into one cell.  If you import the file and specify the "," as the delimiter, it imports just fine.  If the data is saved out again as a csv file,  the file is about half the size and opens
    just fine with excel.
    If you open the original file and the file created by Excel with notepad, they look the same.
    So the files are different in size, contents look the same, but Excel won't automatically open the original file.
    Any ideas of why this happens?  Also PowerShell and Excel are both running on Server 2012 R2.  Excel is a remote app.
    If I do an export-CSV, I get some kind of information about the object.
    Here is the script:
    foreach ($group in $groups)
       $header += '"' + $group.name + '",'
       $CSVdata = @()
       $CSVdata += $header
       # Create a user entry
       $users = Get-ADUser -filter * |select SamAccountname, Name | sort SamAccountName
       foreach ($user in $users)
          $Groupmembership = Get-ADPrincipalGroupMembership -Identity $user.SamAccountName
          $userentry = '"' + $user.SamAccountName + '",'
          $user
          foreach ($group in $groups)
              if ($Groupmembership.SamAccountName -contains $group.SamAccountName) { $userentry += '"X",'}
              else { $userentry += '"",' }
           $CSVdata += $userentry
          $CSVdata
          Out-File -inputobject $CSVdata -FilePath c:\batch\GroupMembership.csv

    Ok the script works exactly like I want it.  Thank you very much.
    I am trying to understand the script but I am unable to figure out what the line "$keys=$t.Keys|%{$_}"
    does.  I figured ".keys" was a method but my search for it comes up blank.  Do you have a reference you can point me to?

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 Scale out file server cluster using server disks as CSV

    Hi,
    My question is if I can create a Scale Out File Server Cluster with CSV using the disks that comes with the servers, we have 2 servers with 2 arrays each one, 1 array for the OS files and 1 array that we could use for the CSV.
    Regards.

    Hi,
    a SoFS needs some kind of shared Storage, this could be in the old days ISCSI or FC SAN and now also a Shared SAS JBOD with Clustered Storage Spaces.
    If you have 2  Servers with "local" Disks you need some sort of Software to create a Shared Disk Layer out of that local Disks, like Starwind or DataCore.
    Scale-Out File Server for Application Data Overview
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh831349.aspx
    check out Step 1: Plan for Storage in Scale-Out File Server
    oh i forgot the normal 4th Option, some Kind of Clustered Raid Controller like HP or Dell offer in some Solutions.
    Udo
    Udo, clustered RAID controllers still require SAS disks mounted into external enclosure *OR* everything mounted into single chassis for Cluster-In-A-Box scenario (but that's for OEMs). The only two benefits somebody would have with them are a) ability to
    privide RAID LUs to Clustered Storage Spaces (non-clustered RAID controllers would be used as a SAS controllers only in pass-thru mode) and b) abillity to have caches synchronized so VM moved from one physical host to another would not start from the "cold"
    state. Please see LSI Syncro reference manual for details:
    Syncro 8i
    http://www.lsi.com/downloads/Public/Syncro%20Shared%20Storage/docs/LSI_PB_SyncroCS_9271-8i.pdf
    "LSI Syncro CS solutions are designed to provide continuous application uptime at a fraction
    of the cost and complexity of traditional high availability solutions. Built on LSI MegaRAID
    technology, the Syncro CS 9271-8i enables OEMs and system builders to use Syncro CS
    controllers to build cost-effective two-node Cluster-in-a-Box (CiB) systems and deliver high
    availability in a single self-contained unit.
    Syncro 8e
    http://www.lsi.com/downloads/Public/Syncro%20Shared%20Storage/docs/LSI_PB_SyncroCS_9286-8e.pdf
    LSI Syncro CS solutions are designed to provide continuous application uptime at a fraction
    of the cost and complexity of traditional high availability solutions. Built on LSI MegaRAID
    technology, the Syncro CS 9286-8e solution allows a system administrator to build a costeffective,
    easy to deploy and manage server failover cluster using volume servers and an offthe-
    shelf JBOD. Syncro CS solutions bring shared storage and storage controller failover into
    DAS environments, leveraging the low cost DAS infrastructure, simplicity, and performance
    benefits. Controller to controller connectivity is provided through the high performance SAS
    interface, providing the ability for resource load balancing, helping to ensure that applications
    are using the most responsive server to boost performance and help prevent any one server
    from being overburdened.
    So... Making long story short: 8i is for OEMs and 8e is for end-users but require a JBOD.
    Hope this helped :)

  • Scale Out File Server for Applications using Shared VHDX

    Just trying to get a definitive answer to the question of can we use a Shared VHDX in a SOFS Cluster which will be used to store VHDX files?
    We have a 2012 R2 RDS Solution and store the User Profile Disks (UPD) on a SOFS Cluster that uses "traditional" storage from a SAN. We are planning on creating a new SOFS Cluster and wondered if we can use a shared VHDX instead of CSV as the storage
    that will then be used to store the UPDs (one VHDX file per user).
    Cheers for now

    Sure you can do it. See:
    Deploy a Guest Cluster Using a Shared Virtual Hard Disk
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn265980.aspx
    Scenario 2: Hyper-V failover cluster using file-based storage in a separate Scale-Out File Server
    This scenario uses Server Message Block (SMB) file-based storage as the location of the shared .vhdx files. You must deploy a Scale-Out File Server and create an SMB file share as the storage location. You also need a separate Hyper-V failover cluster.
    The following table describes the physical host prerequisites.
    Cluster Type
    Requirements
    Scale-Out File Server
    At least two servers that are running Windows Server 2012 R2.
    The servers must be members of the same Active Directory domain.
    The servers must meet the requirements for failover clustering.
    For more information, see Failover Clustering Hardware Requirements and Storage Options and Validate
    Hardware for a Failover Cluster.
    The servers must have access to block-level storage, which you can add as shared storage to the physical cluster. This storage can be iSCSI, Fibre Channel, SAS, or clustered storage spaces that use a set of shared SAS JBOD enclosures.
    StarWind VSAN [Virtual SAN] clusters Hyper-V without SAS, Fibre Channel, SMB 3.0 or iSCSI, uses Ethernet to mirror internally mounted SATA disks between hosts.

  • After F110 run in the payment file the account holder details are missed

    Hai
    After running the F110 pament run, In the payment file the ACCOUNT HOLDER name is missing . The ACCOUNT HOLDER details must picked up from VENDOR MASTER. This  is happening when ACCOUNT HOLDER and VENDOR  are different. When ACCOUNT HOLDER and VENDOR  are same it is displaying Correctly.The Bottom line is when VENDOR=ACCOUNT HOLDER, in the payment file it is displaying the VENDOR name correctly. But When VENDOR is not= ACCOUNT HOLDER, in the Payment file ACCOUNT HOLDER name is blanked out. The bank requires the name in that field in the payment file.
    Kindly Assist me

  • File/Hadoop CSV input : Discovery of file fails

    Hello ,
    I'm trying to make the project as described in -
    "Hands-on Tutorial: Building a Simple SAP Sybase ESP Project" for SAP Sybase ESP version 5.1 SP04.
    I create a project where I add an input adapter of type - File/Hadoop CSV input.
    Then in edit properties I enter the directory and the file name . In advanced tab I also set Has Header = TRUE.
    Then  I click on Schema Discovery and this raises error - "Failed to parse discovery file : parse of file failed ".
    I've imported the sample "towermon "project from SCN and this shows the same error !
    I've done this before on SP02 and it used to work . Of course the File/Hadoop CSV input adapter did not exist in that release.
    Can't quiet figure out what I'm doing wrong . Is this a bug in the software ?Any ideas how to fix this ?
    Best regards,
    Saty

    Hello,
    Two things to check:
    1)  I don't know which file you are using from the "towermon" project.  One of the CSV files (input-streams.csv) prepends the stream name and opcode:
    isSensorStream,i,2011-06-30T17:00:00.000,32.835,-114.188,Tower,Yuma T70,1,104,0
    The other CSV files do not.  So you will have to toggle the "csvExpectStreamNameOpcode" parameter to true/false (the default is true).
    2) There is a bug in the adapter discovery mechanism where it will return the error Failed to parse discovery file : parse of file failed ":
       749503 - Schema discovery does not work for toolkit adapters when unnecessary properties are listed on the adapter.
    So for example, in text authoring mode, if you have this:
    ATTACH INPUT ADAPTER File_Hadoop_CSV_Input1 TYPE toolkit_file_csv_input PROPERTIES
    csvExpectStreamNameOpcode = TRUE ,
    dir = 'c:/temp' ,
    file = 'input-streams.csv' ,
    dynamicMode = '' ,
    removeAfterProcess = FALSE ,
    csvDelimiter = '' ,
    csvDateFormat = '' ,
    csvTimestampFormat = '' ,
    csvHasHeader = FALSE ,
    pollingPeriod = 0 ,
    scanDepth = 0 ;
    You have to delete the unnecessary properties:
    ATTACH INPUT ADAPTER File_Hadoop_CSV_Input1 TYPE toolkit_file_csv_input PROPERTIES
    csvExpectStreamNameOpcode = TRUE ,
    dir = 'c:/temp' ,
    file = 'input-streams.csv' ;
    Then switch back to visual authoring mode and try discovery again.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
      Neal

  • Converting flat files to csv format

    hi,
    Iam converting flat files to csv format..the problem is that iam running a script for inserting values.while i run this script it works fine .but while i open this csv file the datas in the excel sheet is not coming in a single line that is for a particular record its moving to second line .there is a break for a single record.so there is a problem in conversion.can anything be done in it this to avoid the breaking of lines
    thanks
    Ratheesh

    YOGenereally, you shouldn't convert from a lossy format AAC or MP3) to another lossy fomrat.
    It's called loss because you lose information when you convert it.
    If you only use these files on the computer and the iPod, I'd recommend AAC. Better quality at same bit rate as MP3.

  • Scale out file server client access point using public nic

    Thoughts on this one.
    I have a Scale Out File Server cluster with a Client Access Point. Whenever i talk to the Client Access Point it uses the public nics.
    If i talk to the Scale Out File Server directly it uses the private like i want it to. How can i get the Client Access Point using the private nics?

    Hi JustusIV,
    Could you tell us why you want to modify the CAP use the “private” network, the CAP is used for client access, your clients may can’t access your cluster if modify your CAP
    use private network, if you want know how to modify the CAP of a cluster you can refer the following KB:

  • How can we design a PO for an '.out' file?

    I have a requirement to develop a PO form based on '.out' file supplied. All the data is positioned in the 'out' file but no field information. I have access to '.rdf' (report definition file). Form needs to be developed in JetForm Output designer 5.4 or 5.5. Please advice How do I start and what all I need to start.

    If by stating "All the data is positioned in the 'out' file but no field information" you mean it is a file that contains the data in some format, such as a report, fixed length file, comma delimited, etc. then do some research on the Transformation Agent. It can take files such as this and reformat them, adding the field name, into the field-nominated format that the other Central agents understand.
    With the Visual Transformation Editor you can use a fairly good drag & drop interface to build the necessary control files for the Transformation Agent.
    Both the TA & VTE come as part of Central - at least they did when we purchased it.
    I'm no expert using the VTE as it has been several months since I've worked with it but I'll be getting back into using it over the next few weeks. I expect to pick up where I left off after just a few hours of refamiliarizing myself.

  • How to backup a Scale Out File Server

    Can anyone explain to me how i am supposed to backup my Scale Out File Server? It is used to host our VDI environment but we have thrown a few other minimal shares on there for stuff relevant to the VDI setup. Profile Disk/Scripts etc
    Per this topic http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/15561919-963b-4164-a307-e3696f5d21e1/adding-scaleout-file-servers-to-dpm2012-sp1?forum=dpmfilebackup
    "DPM does not support protecting scale-out file servers (SOFS) for file shares.
    I do not really know how to proceed. To make sure everything is backed up.

    Hi,
    Scale out file server support in DPM is for VM's (and SQL DB's I think), only and to be honest because of the metadata overhead using scale out file server and CSV as a general file server is not a good choice.  To protect VM's running on a scale out
    file server the VM's are backed up from the Hyper-V hosts but the Scale Out file servers do require a DPM agent on them.  SMB 3.0 has a new feature which enables Remote VSS therefore the volumes (shares) are snapped from the Hyper-V hosts.
    This document will give you the basic steps (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh757866.aspx)
    hope this helps,

    Paul

  • Any option to Out-File -Append so new additions are at the top of the file?

    Hello,
    Many of my scripts create logentries which I 'append' to a log file, as in the following:
    $LogEntry | Out-File MyLog.Txt -Append
    This puts the newest entries at the bottom of the file so we need to scroll to get to the current data.  Are there any techniques/options for adding the most current data to the 'top' of the file such that when you open the file, the most current data
    is at the top?
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks for your help! SdeDot

    Another way that might be useful, depending on the nature of the logfile data, would be to append each new record to the end, but number the records and use csv format, i.e.:
    1,"Existing data 5"
    2,"Existing data 4"
    3,"Existing data 3"
    4,"Existing data 2"
    5,"Existing data 1"
    6,"Some new fancy data"
    then to display it in reverse order you could either load it into excel and reverse sort by the sequence number, or read it into your script using import-csv, and use sort-object to display it in the order you want to see it in.
    This suggestions is, admittedly, the more complex of the two. I suggest it for two reasons that might (or might not) apply in your case:
    if the log file could be written asynchronously by multiple instances of your script, Mike's solution could cause the loss of data.
    if the log file becomes excessively large, Mike's solution might create a performance issue

  • How to size a Scale-out File Server

    Hi,
    We are looking to implement a 2-node 2012 R2 Scale-out File Server cluster (using SAS JBOD enclosure) for the primary purpose of storing the VHD files that will be accessed by a 4-node 2012 R2 Hyper-V cluster using 10 gigabit Ethernet (no RDMA).  Our
    environment can be characterised as having a large number of mostly idle VMs that experience sporadic, low intensity use (this is *not* a VDI environment).  We have 2 questions.
    1) To what extent is RAM a consideration for the SoFS servers?  We can't find any documentation to suggest that there are benefits to be gained by having more RAM in the SoFS servers but we don't know if we should go with 8/16/32/64+ GB RAM in each
    of the nodes.
    2) With the need to keep costs down, we don't think RDMA / SMB-Direct NICs are going to be within our reach.  Should we however look to have 2 * dual-port 10 Gbps NICs in both the SoFS & Hyper-V boxes?

    Unless your VMs are read-intensive and you're going to deploy a CSV cache memory requirement for serving mostly idle VMs can be pretty low. However RAM is cheap these days so going for less then 16GB per node does not sound reasonable. Good sample, see:
