Out-GridView Question

Hello,
I'm wondering if you can control the window size when using Out-GridView? For example:
Get-Service | Out-GridView
When this is run the window is showing more space than what I need; is it possible to have it shrink the window size to fit the results?

I am not aware of any option, or parameter, to control the size of the form created by Out-GridView. It also doesn't seem change size depending on the content that is being displayed. You may need to create your own GUI element if you want to determine
the size.

  • Audio out options question - HDMI + component?

    I have looked thru the manual and forums, but have not seen the answer to my question.
    If I hook an ATV to my TV with HDMI, and also use the Right and Left (red and white component) audio out cables to my stereo (which does not have TOS link digital audio capability), will I get sound delivered to BOTH units at the same time? Basically, I'd like sound to go to my TV and my stereo.
    I see in the ATV manual that it is possible to use HDMI and digital audio out. DVI video and component audio out, but I need HDMI video/audio AND component audio out.

    The easiest way to accomplish this is to use the HDMI cable from the ATV to the TV and then export the sound from the TV with with either RCA, toslink, or digital audio out cables to your stereo. That is what I do at home. I have a DVR cable box, DVD player, and PS3 Blue Ray player and a HD video camera all hooked up via HDMI to a HDMI hub to the TV and then I can switch the stereo from either the TV audio out (all of the above) or the airport express where I stream music to the Stereo. There is no doubt that the sound quality from the BR HDMI cable of the PS3 has a superior sound.
    A tech at curcuit city told me there is a difference in sound between, a expensive Monster HDMI cable and the less expensive cables now available on line, but I have not tried a A/B comparison yet, but am planing to do so. $50-60$ vrs. a few dollars on line aftermarket.
    Hope this helps.

  • A few Video Out related questions (yes I searched)

    Hello there! I've been searching the net and these forums for awhile now and didn't find answers to these specific questions. Any help would be appreciated.
    Question 1:
    I (now) know that the iPod Classic is extremely picky in regard to getting video signals to the TV. I know that Apple requires that I purchase its cords and/or its Apple Universal Dock (not to be mistaken with the iPod Universal Dock, which is discontinued) in order to enable output to my TV. However, I have read in a few other places that the iPod Universal Dock will work with the iPod Classic. Is this true? If I plug my iPod Classic into the iPod Universal Dock will I be able to use a non-Apple cord that connects from the headphone jack in the dock to AV cables (Yellow and White) on the TV? Also, will the S-Video on the iPod Universal Dock work with my iPod Classic? I really don't feel like going out and spending another $100 on the new Apple dock and cords.
    Question 2:
    In regard to the iPod Universal Dock, I have noticed that there are three part numbers: MA045G/A, MA045G/B, and MA045G/C. Is there any significant difference between these? Will all (or none) of them work with my iPod Classic?
    Any other tips on how to get around having to spend another $100?
    Any help is great. Thanks!

    The info provided by the link <http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300233> is incompatible with users' answers posted above.
    I am getting ready to try a 3rd-party S-Video to composite cable to play video from my new 80G iPod classic via an older Universal Dock (w/S-Video out) to a TV system. Will report back on results.

  • Thumbnails  Grayed out with Question over them

    I have several thumbnails that are grayed out with a white question mark over the thumbnail which indicates that it has "lost" the original photo. However, the photo is in the Finder/Pictures and the name has not been changed.
    How do I get iPhoto to "find" the photo?
    Must I re-import it to iPhoto?
    Thanks for your help and suggestions.

    Are you sure it's a "?" instead of an "!" ? In any case try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
    Fix #2
    Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
    Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
    4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    5 - Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
    Fix #3
    Start over with a new library and import the Originals folder from your original library as follows:
    Creating a new library while preserving the Events from the original library.
    1. Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
    This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library if you have the Finder checkbox unchecked in the Events preference pane.

  • PDA is under the environment of Jeode, carry out applet question with swing

    Purpose : Under the environment of Jeode in PDA, links APPLET webpage on websites, and APPLET is " import javax.swing. *".
    Question: Not knowing the problem of how to go to solve swing bug of applet , it is unable to read webpages to cause pda.

    Right. Make "number" a field, and take it out of the
    method signature for paint.
    Because you didn't use the same signature, you didn't
    override the existing paint(Graphics) method, you
    just overloaded it. That means that when the GUI
    thread tries to make your applet paint itself, it
    calls the original paint(Graphics) method, and not
    your paint(Graphics, int) method -- and so your
    method never gets called.
    Hi Paul,
    Not to sure whether is this what you mean by above statement, i just understand the statement in bold, anyway i ammend the program , this time i declare another variable outside the init() and paint() call int num
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Draw extends JApplet
        int num;
        public void init()
        \\ask user for input (1, 2 or 3) = String numberStr
        num = Integer.parseInt(numberStr)
        public void paint(Graphics page)
            for (int index = 0; index < 100; index++)
            switch (num)
            \\ my statement code
    }Anyway it works, thanks..:)

    ================
    "The read() method provided by System.in reads a single character and returns either the character that was read or, if there are no more characters to be read, -1.
    When a program reads from the standard input stream, the program blocks waiting for you to type something in. The program continues to wait for input until you give it some indication that the input is complete. To indicate to any program that reads from the standard input stream that you have finished entering characters, type the end-of-input character appropriate for your system at the beginning of a new line"

  • Photoshop-Live-Effect: outer Glow Question

    Hello everybody
    Well after my positive impression about my first Post here, I hope, that someone can help me again.
    My problem is: In the Photoshop-Live-Effects, Category "Outer Glow" (Äußeres Glühen) is in the Part "Quality" (Qualität) the Option "random value" (Zufallswert).
    Well, when would be this option works?
    In Photoshop does this function only works, if the outer glow has a gradient, but that is in Fireworks not possible, as far as I know...

    Photoshop Live Effects are still new to me, as I just recently upgraded from Fireworks 8. This post from Jim Babbage echoes what Linda just said about them (that is, they help to maintain continuity between Photoshop and Fireworks):
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2862805#2862805
    The case of "Jitter" is interesting though. It can only be applied in Photoshop and only if the gradient option is chosen. Yet when I tried this, and then opened the PSD file in Fireworks, the appearance was maintained but none of the correct settings appeared in the Photoshop Live Effects dialog. And adjusting the settings had no effect either. That doesn't really fit my idea of a "live" effect. In fact, it seems more like a flattened effect—except that its editibility is maintained if the file is reopened in Photoshop.
    Maybe they should call them Photoshop "hibernating" effects. ("They're not dead—they're just asleep!")
    Clearly, there's room for improvement here. It begs the question: Why include a slider for something that can neither be created nor adjusted in the application? (Of course, I'd rather they figure out a way to add support for gradients here than just remove the slider.)

  • Break out box question

    Is there a break out box that works with Premier CS6 and has a fire wire input? I have a Panasonic psgv320 mini dv camera and need material from the tape imported into Adobe. It uses a dv to fire wire cable.

    If your camera is digital tape, you connect the camera to a Firewire port and it should be recognized by P-Pro

    If you have an ANALOG camera or tape player, you need a converter between your device and Firewire port

  • Yosemite audio out selection question

    I use a Mac mini in my home theater setup.  I have an audio cable connected from the headphone out to an amplifier and an hdmi cable connected from the hdmi out a TV.
    I'm still using 10.6 because I can choose hdmi audio with the cable plugged into the headphone jack.  That option went away in 10.7 or 10.8.  I found out when I updated to Mavericks.  I reinstalled 10.6 for this one reason.
    Has it returned in Yosemite?  If I have a cable plugged in my headphone jack can I select hdmi out for my audio or do I have to unplug the cable from the headphone jack?  That is VERY inconvenenient and why I'm still using 10.6.
    Tracy

    Am I the only one in the world using HDMI with a cable plugged into the headphone jack so I can route audio through one or the other conveniently?
