Out of Band Dial Up... (Regarding Module Support)

Hi Friends,
Can I use the PVDM2-12DM module for Out of Band Dial Up management of CPE routers. Dialing to remote connected modem with Call Back function.
Might sound stupid, but I would also like to know whether the same is supported on Japanese PSTN system.
Thanks,
~sultan

Out-of-band management requires the optional Cisco network management module.
Initiate XMODEM upgrade. Initiate an out-of-band firmware upgrade. The XMODEM protocol is used to perform this upgrade

What is the difference between  digits in-band (IN) or out of band (OOB) in regards to dtfm. When and where is each band use?

    In Band DTMF Relay :
    >> Send DTMF within the same channel of as RTP
    >> Differentiated by Dynamic Payload Type
Cisco RTP (Encoded as Raw sound)
RTP-NTE  (Encode as the telephony-event Format in section 3.10 in RFC2833)
Used by MGCP, SIP, H323GW, H323 ICT trunk
Out of Band DTMF Relay :
    >> Send DTMF via dedicated signal
    >> Differentiated among protocols
    H323
    h245-alphanumeric
    h245-signal    (duration capability)
    SCCP
    KeyPadButton signal
    SIP
KPML(Key Press Markup Language using XML and Sub/Not)
    SIP-Notify (UNSOLICTED NOTIFY (UN) )
    MGCP
Out-of-band (digits event are sent using NTFY message to CA, using RQNT from CA to Agent)
If CA request (R:D/[0-9ABCD*#]) while GW is configured in NSE(in-band, PT 99 NTE), GW will also send out-of-band NTFY as well as inband NSE
    DTMF Configuration per SIPTrunk
Some customers may prefer to use one method over the other, or even both for the same call. Four configurable options per SIP Trunk:
Best Effort (Default setting) – Use ANY matched DTMF.
Preferred 2833 – Use 2833 if endpoints behind SIPTrunk support it.
Preferred OOB – Use OOB if endpoints behind SIPTrunk support it.
Preferred Both – Use both KPML and 2833 if endpoints behind SIPTrunk can support both.
The “Preferred” meethods may allocated MTPs even if there is dtmf match
ALL other EP’s except SIP Trunk would be treated as BestEffort.

  • NAC out of band supported devices?

i am facing issue to control Cat 500 express switch.switch is not going to out of band,
    any suggestion?
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

    Thanks for ur quick reply.
But for remediation purpose, affected client pc has to move bia core network as the remediation servers will be placed in internal segment. In this case the affected pc will travell throught my network & can damage my security policy...
Let me make it clear to you:
    1. My AV & PM servers are located into server zone which is connected with core switch.
    2. If i implement NAC & any outside user with non updated AV in his/her pc tries to login, then CAS will find this non comliant & will send to remediation zone which is basically a server zone where all AV, PM & remediation servers are located.
    3. I want any affected pc say non updated AV, will not travell through my network. They will get an URL & click on that which interims will talk to the AV server a& get the latest updates & push it to the end user.
    Whether this is achieveable???

  • Out-of-Band SMASH Library Event ID 4509 (SCOM 2012SP1UR3)

    Hi!
I´m using the "Microsoft System Center Out-of-Band SMASH Library" 7.0.8707.0 found here:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2012/04/02/ws-management-smash-device-discovery-template-released.aspx
It is a reqiurement for some of DELLs MP:s.
After creating a working (as it seems) discovery with the template, Event ID 4509 is logged with irregular intervals:
The constructor for the managed module type "Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.DatabaseQueryModules.GroupCalculationModule" threw an exception. This module was running in rule "Microsoft.SystemCenter.OOB.2cf63b4c061f4a67bac712ed75a57916.PoolManagesSMASHDevice.Discovery"
running for instance "Network Monitoring Resource Pool" with id:"{E9178425-9B5C-85C1-E1DF-7E440E2E9FBF}" in management group "OMGROUP".
The id “e9178425-9b5c-85c1-e1df-7e440e2e9fbf” is the "Network Monitoring Resource Pool", which is also the pool chosen for the discovery.
I´ve also noticed that the initial discovery is carried out by the "All Management Servers Resource Pool", but then monitoring seem to be done by "Network Monitoring Resource Pool", but I don´t know if that is important:
I don´t know what problems that can arise from this error, but it´s disturbing.
Anyone else using this feature and seen or not seen the same?
    Regards
    Peter

    Hi,
Yes, it is possible.  When you login as admin and you want to get to another vdc, you just use this command:
    switchto vdc
This will take to the that vdc.  If you want to switch back to the admin vdc, you just type "switchback"

  • Doubt Out Of Band

    hi all,
Is possible with out of band receive alerts of hard disk problem or other hardware issues?
    best regards

This is the Virtual Machine Manager forum. In VMM, we basically just support OSD of Hyper-V hosts with corresponding configuration. For Configuration Manager, I strongly suggest that you raise this question in one of those forums to get the best help from
    the experts over there.
Generally speaking. Regarding monitoring of the stack, Operations Manager is the key to detect any issues in your platform, no matter if it's hardware, networking or application related.

  • Out-of-band DTMF Transport

    Hello,
I have recently been struggling with DTMF relay configuration in which the provider has issues with in-band DTMF transport and has requested DTMF's to be delivered out-of-band. Examining the SIP INFO and the SIP NOTIFY methods for out-of-band DTMF delivery, has led to the following predicament.
    As per this link
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios-xml/ios/voice/sip/configuration/15-mt/voi-sip-dtmf.html#GUID-901BED51-E8B2-4994-AC38-875E8A10D7C9
"NOTIFY-based out-of-band DTMF relay is a Cisco proprietary function."
While on the other hand, looking at another Support Community article at
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/community/netpro/collaboration-voice-video/ip-telephony/blog/2013/05/27/understanding-sip-dtmf-options-supported-by-cucm
we have CSCse50733 according to which "CUCM and IOS gateways can receive SIP INFO (RFC 2976) messages for DTMF but cannot generate them"
Does this mean that RFC-based out-of-band DTMF generation is currently not supported at all by Cisco voice gateways?
    Kind regards,
    Miroslav

  • Remote out-of-band management for my me3400

Dear all , I need to solve a little anoying situation at work.
My me3400 that work as a big layer2 traffic conentrator for 5 500mbps radio links and is located very far from the head-end office.
Every time I need to make a change on the configuration I have to use telnet access through the same main traffic link ,(in-band-management).
It is really frustrating when you apply a wrong line and your management session goes down .... In my case I need to take the car and drive many kilometers to the site , connect to console port and rollback.
So ...Im thinking , one solution could be some kind of protocol converter ethernet-serial , so I can leave the device near my me3400 and connected to a different link of course.
    I saw this :
    http://www.perle.com/products/techspecs/IOLAN-SCS-diagrams.shtml
IOLAN solution seems to be good, is there any other way to achieve this ?  Other idea ?
    THX,
    Leo.

Leo, ethernet-serial is a great solution and there are various ways of accessing your me3400 out-of-band.
As a Cisco dev partner, we(WTI) make a variety of OOB console servers with either dual ethernet(using maintenance or production network), built-in dial-up modem or 3g modem support that give you telnet, ssh or web access. There's no need to drive to the site as you will have multiple ways to access the console port even when production network is down.
    Ethernet-Serial:
    https://marketplace.cisco.com/catalog/products/1401
In some cases the rollback will also require a hard power reboot, which can be done with a console server + power reboot combo.
    Console/Reboot Combo:
    https://marketplace.cisco.com/catalog/products/1215
    Hope that helps!

  • Out OF band Management options 2014

Hi i remember in early days we use to install a 2610 XM along with 16 port NM-16A with CAB-OCTAL-ASYNC cable for out of band management of routers and switches. Since 2610 XM series is obselete, what is latest option for this setup? 2610 XM replaced by 2911 , and i believe 2911 dont support NM-16a modules, so how to console router remotely now? what setup your guys are using now a days? any suggestions would be helpful.

  • Out of Band Management (D-Link modem)

    Hi Guys,
I have an issue with the Out of Band Management.
It works with most of our routers, but it doesn't work with routers with new IOS.
The IOS version of our new routers is 15.0(1)M2.

  • Out-of-Band provisioning issue

    Hi there,
    I'm migrating from Configmanager 2007 to 2012 SP1 at a customer.
With CM 2007 I'd succesfully implemented Out-of-band management. Now I'm having some issues with provisioning AMT from CM2012.
The testing machines have never been provisioned with CM2007.
The oobmgmt.log at the client logs succesful activated the device.
At the server in the amtopmgr.log file the follwoing error is logged:

I know this has to do with a one time password that is generated...I dont know where I have to look to resolve this issue.

    Anyone has a good idea?
    Thanks in advance.
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
I am experiencing the same issue you are, but only with one machine. I have over 1000 machines that have successfully provisioned, so it's a bit of a mystery at the moment.
I have confirmed that my failing machine does have a OTP in the SCCM database by running the following query:
select MachineID ,OTP from dbo.AMT_MachineProperties where HostName = '<machine name>'
This shows a OTP for each machine, but I'm still having trouble with this one. Did you ever find a solution?
    Thanks,
    Russel

  • Is it possible to have 2500 series management interface out of band of APs?

I currently have 2500 series WLCs. Our wireless network is completely separate from our internal network, keeping the WLC from talking to any internal servers. The company would like to start using AD(LDAP authentication) for end users while still keeping the APs on a completely separate network. Since the 2500 series does not support a "service port", Is there any way to move the management port out-of-band with no access to APs and just use the other ports for AP management?

I haven't had my morning coffee ... But let me give this a shot..
I am going to say no. The managment interface is needed for APs to join. If you isloate this interface no APs can join. Even if AP managers are used, the AP requries to touch the managment interface when booting up.

  • Doubt about Alerts Out-of-Band 2012 R2.

    Hi All,
I´ll deploy Out-of-Band of SCCM 2012 R2. I have computers with v-PRO last version, a doubt if in SCCM alters painel can receive hardware issues. For exemple hard disk failed and so on.
    regards.

SCCM is a Management tool and not a monitoring tool. Hard Drive failure for Servers can be found using SIM tools etc. You need to look at some tools from the OEM.
