Out of country songs
How do I purchase a song not available in my country, usa. It is available in the UK.
This has been covered here literally dozens of times, but once again: the content owners do not allow cross-border sales from any of the legal download stores. You must therefore have legal residence in the country of the iTunes Music Store you wish to use. So in order to buy from another country's iTunes Music Store, you must (as proof of residence) have either:
a) a credit card issued by a bank in that country with a billing address also in that country, or
b) a mailing address for your residence in that country and a gift certificate or a prepaid card that was bought in that country.
If you cannot fulfill one of these two sets of conditions, you will not be able to purchase from any given country's iTMS.
This, again, is due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders (who are often completely different from country to country and so all require their own individual negotiations and contracts), not by Apple's choice.

I just did an advanced search of iTunes looking for country songs that I can make into ringtones and it only came up with a list of about 100 songs! WHAT THE HECK? iTunes advertises that they have 500,000 songs to make ringtones from but only 100 or so of them are country songs? That just doesn't seem right. Am I missing something? Does anyone know what the deal is or if they'll be adding more country songs that can be made into ringtones?
NickI figured out that a search for all country (genre) available to be made into ringtones only brings up a few songs. However searches for specific artists' songs that are also available for ringtones brings up more results that aren't shown in the more broad-sweeping search query. SUPER wierd and stupid, but that's how it is.

I recently bought an album on iTunes. 10 of the songs came out corrupt and songs missing parts. What can I do?
Other people have been having similar problems with songs over the last few days, I assume that there has been (and possibly still is) a problem with Apple's servers.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting them from your iTunes library and redownl them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that album and use the 'Report a Problem' link. -
Hello, I have songs that show they are "Waiting" for download from the cloud but they are greyed out. Some songs in one album are done others in the same album will not download. It is not a time function because i have been working on this for weeks. I have allowed my compter to run for days and the songs are still not accessible. I have a Match subscription and Match is working. If I click on the "Genre" link the greyed out songs show that they are ready for download from the cloud but I cannot download them. I have downloaded over 1500 other songs, so I am trying to understand what is going on here. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me.
ThanksI did think about that and if I have to I will do that, however there are about 50 songs. I have closed and reopened iTunes several times and I am sure that I have the latest version. It fails right away but I can click on the cloud download icon and download the song that it failed on ... therefore it is not that song "or any one song" causing the issue. Any ideas?

Hello there,
I have an old iPod nano which I think is from the second generation (model number A1199 if that helps) with software at the latest version it can accept, 1.1.3. I wish to make a playlist out of the songs currently on the iPod, but I can't see any easy way to do that from the iPod itself. The next logical thought is to do it through iTunes, but the iTunes that was originally synced to the iPod died several years ago now, so I can't access that to make a playlist through (it's a very old iPod). I do have iTunes currently on this computer, but that's synced with my iPhone and stores different songs which I don't want to be mixed with those from the old iPod (due to the mostly nostalgic nature of the iPod songs). Is there any way I can either create a new playlist from the iPod itself, or through iTunes without having to sync? Also note that most of the songs on the old iPod were uploaded to iTunes from CDs and so aren't connected with any iTunes Login.
Thanks for any help you can give. Also, I sorta need to create this playlist ASAP so any advice you could give would be much appreciated
~ImamadmadThe old iTunes library was lost with the old PC. However, it all that music and content is still on your iPod there are many ways you can extract this content from the iPod and import it back into iTunes.
Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the new PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

I would like to use GarageBand to remaster downloaded music files that are in iTunes. Poorly mastered files keep clipping and damaging my speakers. When I try to use an iTunes file as a new project, it greys out the iTunes songs so I can't select them. Any ideas?
As I said - look whether your original file is damaged or not. If not, I wouldn't change it and find out what in your system makes it sound like it's clipping.
Good sound file, with volume maxed out. No need to change anything.
The same song clipped - no chance to repair. -
How do I stop iTunes from breaking out all the songs in one album into multiple albums?
How do I stop iTunes from breaking out all the songs in one album into multiple albums when the artist has many collaborators on the different songs, for example Timbaland? I want to just listen to the full album with all the songs, instead of having to play every song separately.
For your solution, see Steve MacGuire's helpful article: http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp

HT1212 im trying to reset my ipod with out deleting the songs
i want to reset my ipod and it is disabled with out deleting thee songs on there
You can't. If you could then the Disabled would be a poor security feature
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

How do I get out of My Songs?
I've got GB on my iPad2 and was enjoying 'Curtain Call' in My Songs. I cannot seem to find a way back to the main part of GB whereby I can play smart instruments, etc. If I select instruments in My Songs it tells me I've got the maximum 8 selected. Please help me to get out of My Songs as I'm feeling pretty inept this morning
Is anyone else having the same problem? If you go to My Songs on the iPad (to where Curtain Call is stored) how do you go back to being able to play things like smart instruments? Even doing a hard reset of the iPad doesn't help. I've got to delete GB from iTunes and reinstall it before being able to play again. I'm going crazy thinking I'm missing something obvious.

Going out of country, need info about charges
I'm going out of country & still want to be able to use some features like Data, check email, translate language, use on plane. Is there a way to do that without being charged international fees? Can I use wi-fi on my phone free? If so, what are the steps to do on the phone? Hope I'm asking right questions.........Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
This is a great question that should help multiple people traveling outside the country. First, if you don't plan on using the phone as a phone for texting and phone calls, there's no need to call customer service. If you do want to make and receive calls/texts while in another country, you need to call and add international dial (I-Dial) to your line. Note: There are specific qualifications that need to be met before a customer can add this feature such as payment history, account start date, etc.
To use your phone on Wi-Fi, there are no additional charges. However, if you want to make absolutely sure that you don't receive any data charges, I would turn off data or put the phone into airplane mode before departing.
For airplane mode: Settings> Airplane Mode> On
For disabling data only (meaning you want to use phone for texts and email while abroad): Settings> General> Network> Make sure cellular data and data roaming are both turned off.
Note: Remember to turn data back on, or disable airplane mode once you get back in the U.S.
To enable Wi-Fi, go to setting> Wi-Fi> On. Once it's turned on, it will show available Wi-Fi networks. There is no charge by Verizon Wireless to use Wi-Fi, but the provider of the Wi-Fi network may charge for access (an example would be airports, planes, and hotels). There are no extra fees by Verizon Wireless though.
Also, if you're curious about international rates, we have a great portion of our website: www.vzw.com/international
Let us know if you have any other questions, and have a great trip! -

how do i find out how many songs i have in itunes?
Click Music, then pull down View > Show Status (I believe; I don't have iTunes open in front of me). At the very bottom of the screen the number of songs will be displayed.

I now have a new laptop, but I'm afraid to plug my iPod in because I know it will wipe out all 300 songs. Is there a way to put my old music on my new laptop?
(After my old laptop blew, it won't turn on anymore). I've invested quite a bit of money into my music, and it'd be a bummer if it's all gone to waste.
Thanks in advance! Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

How can i find out what country my computer was purchased?
I got my computer as a gift and the gifter is no longer available. I called the HP Americas support center, but because my notebook was bought outside of the Americas they can't tell me anything about my computer, including what country was sold even with my serial number or if it is in warranty. Therefore, Customer Support can't direct me to the right service desk. All the know is that they can't help me. I have a Pavilion M6 1051xx.
Short of going to every country customer support website, I'm stuck. How can I find out what country was sold, so that I can get hardware support?xx at the end is not a valid model number and those two letters give us some clue as to which market the laptop was sold in. It should be dv or ea or something like that.
