'Out of date' messages

I have a Photosmart 8250 (3 yrs old?) & I bought a few packs of the HP cartidges at the same time as they were in a Staples sale at a reduced price.    I'm now getting messages telling me they're out of date & sometimes the 8250 will not continue to print.   Sometimes it does & the photos are excellent.   Can I bypass this blocking tactic to my using the cartisges, if it's possible how do I do it ?    Thanks.

Hi terryindorset,
Is it the 'ink cartridges expired' message?

If so, it's probably best to replace the cartridges so that you won't get the intermittent printing issues.

  • How do I disable the "some plugins are out of date" message

I am running firefox 3.6.3 on a powerpc mac laptop. There are no more upgrades to either firefox or any of the plugins it is using. It's a powerpc and the current updates of the plugins all require an intel based mac. I constantly get the message "some plugins used by this page are out of date" message above the screen, or Firefox disables plugins because it says they are a security risk. I don't care. This is an old computer that would work fine if Firefox would just stop trying to upgrade either itself or its plugins, or try to warn me about something that can't be upgraded and that I don't care about. MAC rule number one: The user is in charge. How do I fix this annoying and PC like feature?
In the future if Firefox is going to continue to have this "feature" it should keep track of what kind of computer it is running on and what what updates can and can not run on the computer it is running on, or give the user the option of turning off not only the messages but the whole plugin update function.

  • I am getting occasional Safari is out of date messages but checking for new software says "up to date".

weI am getting occasional Safari is out of date messages but checking for new software says "up to date".  Initially we subscribed to Support but did not realize that it has expired.  We have upgraded the OS once but have not received any notices of additional upgrades. So far I have not come across a way to update on my own.

I suspect this is the issue but wonder whether it is wise to upgrade my model:

I stopped and went through the FP install and restarted my computer. Now it only shows at one site on the page  no matter how many times I install the new version. Any thoughts?

  • Keep on getting "flash-out-of-date" messages. Do I need Adobe flash ? Does VLC not work ?

Lately I kept on getting "flash-out-of-date" messages. Do I need Adobe flash ? I thought VLC should work in most cases.

Apparently, you do or you wouldn't get those messages.
This is the latest Flash: Adobe Flash Player 17.0.0.134. VLC should work in some cases but not all.

  • "Some of your quicktime software is out of date" Message

    Hi,
I have a problem with quicktime for which I would like advice. The symptom is that each time quicktime is loaded or accessed, there is a pop-up message box which says,"Some of your quicktime software is out of date. You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version." There's a cancel button, which I use nearly every time, and a "Do It Now" button. Note that I am running the latest version of quicktime.
When I use the "Do It Now" button, I get an error message pop-up which says,"Information obtained from the Quicktime server is invalid. Please try again later." I don't use quicktime stand alone for anything, so I don't really know if it's working OK. It seems to be, but I've not done a thorough testing. The dominant symptom is in iTunes, where I experience lock-ups. I spoke with an Apple technical support person for a while about it, and we (re)did the compulsory uninstall, reinstall stuff to no avail.
The Apple guy pointed me to an Apple website detailing some methods to fix various problems with iTunes/quicktime. (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976) I have tried everything there. One of the things was an experiment to try to detect interactions with other programs. Using MSCONFIG, I did a custom start-up which enabled nothing but quicktime. No change. I have removed (ctrl-panel->add/remove programs...) many of the programs which were installed. No change.
    Questions/Comments?
    Thanks for any info,
    jimmBob

I just got off the phone with an Apple technician, and we solved the error problem. Basically we just went through my whole computer searching for all quicktime and iTunes files that were left behind. Be sure to check your C: > Windows > System32 folder for ANY and ALL QuickTime files. The files we found that caused the error were hidden in a filed titled "quicktime" in the System32 folder. Make sure you delete it, uninstall all iTunes and QuickTime programs (including Apple Software Update and Apple Mobile Device Support) from the Control Panel, and reinstall the latest files for iTunes and QuickTime and the error should go away.
    Hope this helps!

  • "Your credit balance is out of date" message

When I try to get updates through iTunes and click the download all updates, iTunes asks me for my password and then I get a message saying "Your credit balance is out of date". Any ideas?

I think this has to do with having a gift card balance. When I did not have a gift card balance, I was able to use the "update all" button. Then I redeemed an iTunes card and got the same message you did, but I was able to update each app individually. When I used up my iTunes balance and it was back to $0, I was able to use the "update all" button again.
The update process on iTunes and the iPhone is very buggy. I can't get any of my updated Apps to sync with the iPhone today. I hope they get this worked out soon.

  • Quicktime out of date message that won't go away

This message appears every time I open iTunes:
"Some of your QuickTime software is out of date. You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version."
Problem is, updating does not make this go away, and updates of iTunes are actually stalled at the QuickTime step, which is a pain in the ***. I've done the following:
    1. Reinstalled iTunes
    2. Used windows Add/Remove to uninstall QuickTime and then reinstalled just QuickTime
    3. Gotten the latest Windows installer (installer 3.1 for Windows XP)

  • Out of date message appears no matter how many times I update

Have downloaded new free versions up to and including latest (6). Appears to load perfectly but message warning of out of date version under search bar never disappears. Has been going on for months.

The text about not running the latest Firefox version is in the code of the www.google.com/firefox site that previous Firefox 3 versions use as the home page and it looks that Google no longer maintains that page.<br />
Current Firefox 4+ versions no longer use that Google website as the home page, but use the build-in about:home page as the home page.<br />
Google assumes that you use an older Firefox version if you still visit that site and warns you that you use an older Firefox version and suggests to update.<br />
You can ignore that message if you run the latest Firefox version as reported in the Help > About window.<br />
You can use another page as the home page like about:home or www.google.com or www.google.com/ig (iGoogle).<br />

  • Out of date message

I am getting a message that my Firefox is months our of date. I can't see what version I have under help. But it updated not long ago. A few weeks maybe.

Did you see that message on a website?
Firefox releases a new version every 6 weeks. You are using Firefox 19, current version is Firefox 20 which was released Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

  • Keep getting messages in Facebook that my Adobe player is out of date.  Is this an Adobe problem or a Facebook problem?

I have tried to update Adobe player severl times.  Each time the install seems to work, but when I try to play a movie on Facebook I still obtain a message that Adobe Player is out of date???  Anyone have any ideas what is going on here???

I've seen a RASH of posts in the Adobe Flash Player forums since the 2/4/2014 update, especially with Snow Leopard.
I put together a PDF with detailed, illustrated instructions to perform a full "clean install", which will resolve the "Blocked Plug-in" and/or the "Out of date" message when trying to update via the GUI updater from Adobe, or on pages like Facebook.
Use the FULL installer for 12.0.0.44:  Flash Player 12 (Mac OS X)
And the instructons are here: Snow Leopard Clean Install.pdf

  • "some of your Quicktime software is out of date,"  And then the fun starts

I get the "out of date" message frequently. If I select "do it now", I am usually told "Info received from the QT server is invalid. Please try again later." Occasionally, I'll get a Dialogue Box listing five Quicktime components. If I select Update, I get a message informing me that I don't have authority from the Administrator (ME) and a more privileged user will have to update for me.
In addition, attempts to use Apple websites and ITunes result in crashes of Internet Explorer. I can navigate thru Safari, though, and my ITouch syncs OK.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes and Quicktime several times but the problems persist, I even get the "out of date" message during the install process. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That sounds like there may be old misplaced QuickTime componentry lurking about in your system, Jack. Let's go looking for that.
    1. From the Start menu, click Open.
    2. In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
    5. Click OK.
Now in Computer, open Local Disk C: or whichever drive your operating system is installed on.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
*If you have a 32-bit Vista:* Open the "System32" folder.
*If you have a 64-bit Vista:* Open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file or folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

  • How to mark a HTML page as "Out of date"

    Hello!
I need a method to prevent the usage of the Back button in web browsers by my web users, and prohibit them to move back through old web pages. During this moving they should view "Page out of date" messages instead of old contents of previous pages.
How can I do it? Any ideas, links, samples are welcomed!
    Thanks a lot!
    Alex

One way to get unathorized access to a web application is the usage an old stolen application's web page. My task to prevent it. An old web page may contains some hidden fields with encrypted keys, or other protection data.
We should analize this info each time on the server side to distinguish an old (may be stolen) page, and the new (from a valid user) one.
But the usage of such kind protected pages is complex enough. To reduce this complexity I just want to mark all web pages as "expired". Then my users will see "Page out of date", when they try to get back to old pages in browsers. They cannot view "a valid old page" at all using browsers (they will get only the "Page out of date" page), and, concequently, they cannot send to my server requests using old links, and old protection keys. Any old data my be stolen data only using this way.
In this case the protection algorithm on the server side is simplified. Now I have only one valid page in my application (the latest page).
To expire the web page we should
    1) create the HTTP header like this:
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Date: Fri, 30 Oct 1998 13:19:41 GMT
    Server: Apache/1.3.3 (Unix)
    Cache-Control: max-age=3600, must-revalidate
    Expires: Fri, 30 Oct 1998 14:19:41 GMT
    Last-Modified: Mon, 29 Jun 1998 02:28:12 GMT
    ETag: "3e86-410-3596fbbc"
    Content-Length: 1040
    Content-Type: text/html
    2) provide on the server side some functionality to prevent just
    regeneration.
My question was about samples, or ideas on this way to protect web apps for XE.
It may be very useful, because I cannot find a legal way to use HTTPS (SSL) with XE.
    Thanks!
    Alex
