'Out of frequency'

Hello
I installed Solaris 10 succesfully on my x86 desktop, but I didn't realised in time that I was working with a LCD screen, so I entered the option about the standaard 75Hz frequency away...
Now if I start up Solaris, I first get the bootscreen where I can choose to use boot parameters and when the loginscreen is loading I got the 'out of frequency' error.
Can someone help me with the parameters I have to fill in to change a file? (which file?)
thanks, Hans

Hmm, so actually you should have gone to the 'sol10x86 forum' ;-)
Anyway, easiest option is to normally boot and when you get the question "press b or enter to boot" (2nd prompt during bootphase) use "b -s". That'll dump you to the single user mode after which you need to present the root password to get to the console. Next you can run "kdmconfig" and reconfigure X.

  • Out of Frequency Problem with Apple Multiple Scan 720 Display and Mac mini

If a resolution with a horizontal and/or vertical frequency not compatible with your display, in this case an Apple Multiple Scan 720 Display, is selected in the Display preference pane of the Mac OS X 10.4.10 system running on a Mac mini (Early '06), you will recieve a message on your screen about being "out of frequency" and the power management feature will shut down and restart your display repeatedly. The following solution should restore your display to proper function. It may apply to other displays and Macintoshes running Mac OS X, but it has only been tested specially on this setup.
    1. Shut down the Mac mini with the power button (press and hold for 5 seconds)
    2. Start the computer up with the Mac mini Mac OS X Install Disc 1 (press the power button, insert the disc, hold the C key down until the progress bar starts up)
    3. Click on the language, then select Utilities > Terminal...
    4. Type "cd /" and return
    5. Type "cd Volumes" and return
    6. Type "cd your hard drive name" and return (you need to enclose the hard drive name in double quotes if more than one word)
    7. Type "cd Library" and return
    8. Type "cd Preferences" and return
    9. Type "rm com.apple.windowserver.plist" and return
    10. Type "exit" and return
    11. Quit Terminal
    12. Select Utilities > Startup Disc...
    13. Select the OS on the hard drive and click on Restart button, holding down the Shift key until the progress bar starts.
    14. Log in to the account that had the display problem in Safe Boot mode
    15. In System Preferences select Display, select a resolution with the appropriate frequency, 60 Hz should be fine, then close System Preferences
    16. Restart the computer, log in to the account normally, and the display should be functioning properly.
DO NOT SELECT AN INAPPROPRIATE RESOLUTION/FREQUENCY FOR YOUR DISPLAY IN THE DISPLAY PREFERENCE PANE! BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID!

Mac mini (Early '06)   Mac OS X (10.4.10)   Apple Multiple Scan 720 Display

Just a correction and an elaboration:
It should be Startup Disk... with a k, not a c.
Both the resolution and the frequency must be appropriate for your display to work properly. Check your documentation or the manual information available on your display for the appropriate resolutions/frequencies. Evidently the Apple Multiple Scan 720 Display is considered so old that no allowance was made for it in the Display preference pane of Mac OS X 10.4.10.

  • Display out of frequency

just installed solaris 10. I believe it's supposed to boot into the desktop invironment, however when it does, my monitor shuts off and displays the message "out of frequency" if this were a linux system i could edit the x11 settings. however this is obviously not linux, and i have no idea where the file is to change the resolution settings.
    any help? thanks.

    Hi.
*If you can't login into your machine, use ssh.
If you use xsun X-Windows server run kdmconfig and if you are using Xorg (recommended) run /usr/X11/bin/xorgconfig.
You can select there your monitor type and resolution.

  • [SOLVED] Monitor out of frequency while installing

Past week I completed my first Arch Linux install in a laptop and everything works flawlessly, so I decided to install it also in my desktop computer. I boot from the CD, choose "Boot Arch Linux" option, some boot messages appear, some services start, and before udev service shows the [DONE] status, my monitor goes out of frequency and I can't see anything.
My monitor is a LG Flatron F900P (CRT with a max resolution of 1600x1200). Why is installation not working? Is there a way to force a working video mode during boot?

Have you tried out any of these tips?
What video card do you have?
Can't check this atm, but isn't it possible to select a screen resolution while booting the CD?

  • Dual Monitor Out of Frequency

I am reposting this from another area to see if get a response here.
I have a G5 Dual 1.8 machine with a GeForce FX 5200 DVI-VGA and ADC-VGA adapters. It drives to 17in Daewoo LCD monitors.
It all worked fine with dual monitors until I upgraded to 10.4.3. First alternatively one of my monitors went out of frequency after working through most of start up. Then the next causing the same work. Then after getting it to work by swapping around the monitors and reseting the frequency down to 75hz, both monitors went out of frequency.
I reinstalled tiger and upgraded all the way to 10.4.2 and am able to use both monitors. I did this in both archive and full mode. I also upgraded in steps several times so I am confident it is a problem that ocurs with 10.4.3 upgrade.
So it looks like their is a bug in 10.4.3 that does periodically puts the frequency out of range for the monitor.
I am posting this to be helpful to others who might experience this problem and to request any suggestions that I might have missed.

Now I just tried 10.4.5. Still the same problem. So again I went back to 10.4.2 and the problem goes away.
Given the lack of responses to my posting, I am puzzled - there must be someone else out there with a fx 5200 nvidia and vga monitors - why am I the only one with this challenge?

  • Out Of Frequency problem -- After Installing solaris 10 x86

    Hi Solarians,
After installing solaris 10, I am getting "*Out Of Frequency*" problem and I am not able to login to Desktop session. Please let me know configuration changes that i need to make along with exact paths as i am new to solaris.Currently i am running dual OS (XP and Solaris).
    Out of Frequency

    VF: 40.0 HZ
    Operating Frequency
    HF: 30 - 71 KHZ
    VF: 50 - 160 HZ
Please help me solve this problem, Thanks in advance .....
    Thanks,

    hi;
I faced that problem when I was a beginner on solaris as you were. I tried to install solaris to my windows installed x86 based PC. in my fisrst few attempts ý always saw that message, afterwards somehow I managed to install solaris to my PC but this time windows failed.I think that is because of the inconsistencies between those OS but if you need to install solaris you can use VM ware workstation with this software you can use both OS without problems.

  • How do i cut out high frequencies?

Im fairly new to recording so i apologise for what might seem like a silly question.  Ive imported an acoustic guitar track which i have recorded in cubase to audition.  The only problem is that it has a very annoying bleeping metronome sound which you can hear at the start and at the end of track.  How do i get rid of, or at least minimise this coming through in my final recording?
    Thanks

Well, IF there's a solution (see below for why it's an "if") I'd start by trying some EQ with a notch filter.
If you're not up on identifying frequencies by ear, highlight one of the metronome "beeps" and run Audition's frequency analysis tool (under the Window menu by the way) to tell you what frequeny you need to get rid of, then got to Effects/EQ and Filtering/Notch filter.  Set up the frequency you need with a lot of attenuation and go.
However, I say "if" because it's pretty common for beep noises not to be a nice, easy single frequency.  They're often a mix of several different frequencies and, the more you have to notch out, the more of your music disappears too.
    Good luck.

  • Can I send out a frequency for radio from my iMac..?

So, hopefully I worded it right. What I am trying to do or if it can be done, is try sending out a radio frequency and tune my stereo to it and play what ever is playing on my mac on my stereo. I want to do this because I don't want a converter to go into my headphone jack then lose my iMac speakers. They are awesome! Anyway, thanks for helping in any way.

Maybe you could try to write a program that used precisely the right amount of CPU cycles :-p
But no, there's nothing built in. The USB dongle sounds like a good path to take

  • How to sort out fundamental frequencies from harmonic?

    Hello,
I have a problem, because I have signals with different frequencies and with their harmonic. But I need only fundamental frequencies. I have found a device: Harmonic distorsion analizer that is theoretically able to find all the fundamental frequencies. I am using PXI 6221 but now for simulating I am using waveforms. In this waveform I have 3 music voice together, but this VI is able to found only two of them. I have an E, C, A - like an "A minor " chord.
It founds After FFT analysis all the fundamental frequency is visible on the graph but I can not measure using this VI. These frequencies are 219, 260, 328 Hz, but the first one is missing. On the indicator called Measured frequency all the fundamental and the harmonic frequency can be seen. Displaid datas depend on the number set using max num tones.
I would be really happy if anybody could help me.
Unfortunately this forum not allowes to attach wav files, but I can send it to anybody by e-mail.
    Thanks you

    Hello Sofija and Lynn,
Many thanks for your answer. At first all I have tried to find examples but it didn't help me. I addtached that datas you were interested in.
So I tired to use the harmonic distorsion analyzer to find the fundamental frequencies.
I know that values, because that waveform was made in a church and I plaid it on the organ. So I pushed 3 different key - a c' e' voices, the instrument was tuned up appoximately 438 Hz, so the frequencies of these voices is possible to be calculated using some frequency proportions
    octav = 2 : 1
    quint = 3 : 2
    quart = 4 : 3
    big terc = 5 : 4
    small terc = 6 : 5
so the a' equals 438 Hz -> the e' equals: 438*4:3=328,5 Hz -> the measured value is 328,7
    c' will be: 328,7*4:5= 262,98 Hz -> the measured one is 260,9
and finally the "a" will be one octav lower than the reference 438 Hz one-> so 438:2=219 -> measured one: 219,4
So in this way I know the fundamental frequencies, and on the spectrum they are visible as well, but unfortunately this device was able to found only two of them and I don't know where I did the mistake.

Hi. I have a beige G3 minitower with an 80 gig hd, 448 mb ram, ATY Mach 64 3DUPro 6mb vram pci. Monitor is a NEC Multisync FE770. I have an 8 gig partition on which I successfully installed OSX10.2.08, and another partition has 9.2.2.
I can boot in 9.2 no problem, but when I boot up in 10.2, I get a red bordered box on a black screen that says "Signal frequency is out of range. FH>80 OKHZ. FV>75OHZ. Please change signal timing."Monitor preferences have been reset to different frequencies, but it still persists.
I have read for hours on this forum, and have tried resetting pram via keyboard, only to get the "?" start-up screen. I was able to boot in OS9 to get to utilities to re-choose the startup disc. But nothing changed, still got the out of range box. I also tried the Mac solution posted here, "Blue or Black screen after updating" but that did nothing. Anyhow, I know you suggested replacing the battery, but why would it work in OS9 if the battery is the problem? Can anyone suggest any fix to this? I have been trying to get this computer updated for my 10 year old son, and have put way too much time into it:) Best,JER

Hi, I am updating this original post to say that I ordered and installed a new battery into my G3, and I still am getting the "out of range" warning on my monitor at startup. Can anyone offer a solution? It only happens when I boot in OSX, and never happened in system 9. The only additional info I can offer is that I installed 10.2 with the grey install discs from an older IMAC. Someone on the forum mentioned that the grey install discs would only work for the same machine, though I was able to do a clean install. Does a disc meant for an imac install a system geared to that model? Could it be a reason for the monitor issue? I am grasping at straws. Any additional help is welcome. Best,JER
Hey, I just borrowed a retail disc of OSX 10.2, and went through a clean install, only to get the SAME out of frequency message on start-up. So that eliminates that. New pram battery also done. Any other ideas? If the monitor is generating the message, and nec is no help, what next? Can the NEC adaptor work for another crt monitor? I have a PC computer with a monitor the same size. I guess I'll check to see. Best,JER
What is happening is that the physical pixel characteristics of your monitor don't match the resolution that your Mac is calling for (this is one area that Windoze's display handling routines differ on PC; windoze will "cut off" or black out portions of the display to make it fit.)
I just had this happen yesterday with an oddly-shaped LCD monitor that is slightly squarish. Zapping the Mac's PRAM did no good because it defaults to 800 X 600, which the monitor was geometrically unable to achieve. The resolution had to be set to 640 X 480 (or 1280 x 960 or other common denominator.)
The reason OS 9 can display it is because a compatible resolution is stored in the prefs, while OS X does not contain it.
I solved my problem by booting from a secondary disk and replacing the display pref with a known-good one. Since you can't swap prefs between 9 and X, you could boot with a different monitor, set the resolution to a compatible setting, then hook up the previous monitor.

  • How to check frequency of ABAP program usage

    Dear Experts,
How to find out the frequency of ABAP programs executed by users? the reason is because we want to do a housekeeping on all the ABAP reports that we have developed over the years, we want to deactivate those reports that are no longer executed by the user within 1 year. Anyone can give suggestion?
I already tried using SM36, but this is only for those programs scheduled in background or immediate, how about those programs running on foreground?

    Hello,
You can use the trxn SM20N. But bear in mind some prior config needs to be in place for the logging to be active (trxn SM19).
For further details on SM20 read this: [Security Audit Log|http://help.sap.com/SAPhelp_nw70/helpdata/en/2c/c59d37d373243de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm]
@Sap Fan: STAD can be used in case the audit log is not available (e.g., due to missing config) but afaik there is a limitation on the date range you can provide.

  • Frequency of attributes countable?

    Hi,
we want to find out the frequency of an attribut in our variable data.
For example,we upload the name of a customer, the sales and the invoice number. Is it possible to give out the name and the number of invoices the customer has received to create a  nice chart with these data?
    Thanks

    Hi,
i got half solution for it.
    try out this:
i assume u have ProductID,Selling time and date, invoice number and CustomerId in rows and Quantity in columns.
chars should be in the following sequence in rows.
    1. Invoice number
in properties, set Suppress result rows always/never and no normalization.
enable sort order,by 'key' in ascending/descending order.
    2.Customer ID  ( or ProductID )
but set Suppress result rows 'never' .
    3.ProductID
    Suppress result rows 'always'
    4......
for all remaining Suppress result rows should be set to 'always'.
Then in columns-Keyfigures structure, create a formula (Quantity>=0). and set 'Calculate result as'  'nothing defined'. (here i assume if there is no Qty,then no invoice)
after Executing Query u will get 'Report result' rows (sub result rows).and values as '1'.
here the no subresult rows are no of same invoice numbers.
for ex:if u have 4 subresult rows (yellow color rows),it means u have 4 invoices.
i dont know how to count these subresult rows...if u can count these subresult rows (result rows)....then its over...
    hope this helps.
