  • HP LJ Pro P1102: Stuck on "Out of paper"

    Good day,
My HP LaserJet Professional P1102 ran out of paper while printing. I placed more paper in the tray, but since the printer has no "resume" button, I could not get it to continue printing. I deleted the print job from the queue, but the "Out of paper" message is still there. I switched off the printer, removed the USB cable, restarted, but nothing helps. The message stays there. Except for resetting the print system, what else can I try? The printer driver version is 6.9.
    Thanks

  • Deskjet 3650 Paper Jam or Out of Paper error messages but neither is the case

I've tried printing from both a computer running Windows 7 and an old computer running XP, but neither seems to work.  Less than 24 hours ago, I printed from the XP just fine.  Now when I try to print from either computer, I either get a Paper Jam or Out of Paper error message.  So far I've tried:
    - Cleaning the rollers and letting them dry
    - Reinstalling printer drivers
    - Resetting printer
    - Restarting Printer Spooler in Windows
    - Checking for Paper Jam
    - Inserting new ink cartridges
    - Ensured that in printer settings, paper type is set to normal paper
    - Probably a few other things, but at this point I'm a bit frustrated, so I've probably forgotten exactly what
Each time I try to print, the printer fires up, the cartridges move back and forth, the rollers try to pick up the paper, but nothing happens and I get an error message.  I can move the rollers manually, so they're not stuck.
    Any other kind of advice?

    Hi...
I believe you already done all the TS and its a hardware problem..

  • CD and  paper stuck in drive - How to disable the drive?

So I didn't pay attention and put a CD into my Intel iMac's CD drive that had a piece of paper stuck to the back of the CD. And now, of course, it won't come out again.
I've been through all the advice on here, YouTube, ... you name it and came to the conclusion that a trip to an Apple retailer (no Apple Store here yet) is the only solution.
However, until then, I'd like to disable the CD/DVD drive to keep it from trying so that I can at least use my iMac. Any ideas how to do that?
I found instructions to remove the IOCDStorageFamily.kext and IODVDStorageFamily.kext kernel extensions, clear the kext cache and reboot. But it's still trying to read or eject the CD, over and over again ...
    Any other ideas?
This is a first-generation Aluminum iMac (Mid 2007), running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3.

Hadn't seen that video and it looks like it could work. But the CD drive in an aluminum iMac is different and I couldn't get 2 credit cards in. I've tried with one and the sticky tape but that didn't work.
The drive has now finally gone silent. Not sure, though, if it finally caught on about the disabled kext drivers or if I've managed to leave some of the sticky tape in the drive itself and it really needs repair now
So, problem not exactly "solved" - but thanks for the help!

  • I have a Bootcamp partition on  my Imac with Mavericks which I can't delete because the Partition Layout is greyed out and is stuck on 'Current'. What can I do?

I have a Bootcamp partition on my Imac with Mavericks which I can't delete because the Partition Layout in Disk Utility is greyed out and is stuck on 'Current'. What can I do? I was trying to install Windows 8.1 but apparently, this is not yet possible.
I was originally able to restore to my original Mac OSX partition using Boot Camp Assistant but then after entering Disk Utility and re-RAIDing the default RAID 1 to RAID 0 in the BootCamp partition (I suspect this is the cause of the problem but why was it defaulted to RAID 1 in the first place?!!!!), forever afterwards, I couldn't restore the single OSX partition.
Whenever I used BootCamp Assistant my choice to 'Install or remove Windows 7 or later version' was greyed out. Finally I went to Disk Utility to repartition but the Macintosh HD and BootCamp disk partition functions were also greyed out (even if I started up from Recovery mode holding down option, command and 'R' and choosing Disk Utility). BootCamp Assistant gives the error message 'The startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition' with additional small script 'The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows', and DU gives the error message 'The full size of the Fusion drive is not available for repartitioning'.
What can I do to fix this problem? How can I make the Partition Layout button active in DU so I can change the partition to all OSX? I'm prepared to wipe off all my data etc to repartition and have backed up all to disk using Time Machine.

My problem is fixed now, thank you. It was caused by my changing the Boot Camp partition's 'RAID1' to 'RAID0'. If I hadn't done that, Boot Camp would still have been able to 'restore' back to the one partition. It was fixed with the help of Applecare by using a terminal and typing a command to erase the IP of the Macintosh disk (not the volume) as well as the IP of the Bootcamp partition (if I remember correctly), but then I had to restore the OS and all my applications and data etc which I had previously backed up using Time Machine. I haven't taken note of the exact command terminology used. It would be wise to speak to Applecare about this if possible.
Two words of warning, 1. According to the cause of this problem, it might be wise, after reinstalling the ops system to reinstall all extra applications one by one, manually, in case a similar problem arises again. Then manually copy back all data. Or the Mac user could use the Time Machine backup and then uninstall all the added apps then re-install them one by one manually. 2. Beware as after all this the user might not have the 'Recovery partition'. There is a small recovery partition (a few 100 Mb is size) which comes with all later Macs. After all this is done this tiny partition might not be there anymore and the user might have to re-install Mavericks again to get it back, or just install the upcoming update of Mavericks due in a month or so.

  • Laser Jet Pro MFP M476nw printing lines of nonsense until it runs out of paper

I have a Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476nw, and it has begun printing out pages of nonsense symbols until it runs out of paper.  This is particularly bad when I print from a website, sometimes from emails, etc., and it is wasting tons of paper.  I am extremely dissatisifed with this printer, and it is not even a year old yet.  I have tried turning it off and then restarting it, but the problem comes back.  Is this normal for this particular all-in-one?  I bought it instead of a Brother, which I had last, and expected better for my money.

If the output is repeatable (i.e. exactly the same when reprinting the same document, using the same driver, to the same device), then it is likely that it is caused by a driver (or driver settings) fault.
There may be a more up-to-date driver available, or (depending on the printer model) you may perhaps be able to switch to a driver using a different Page Description Language (i.e. PCL5 or PostScript or PCL6 (the 'marketting' name for the PCL XL PDL), depending on which you are currently using).
If the error(s) is/are random, they are much more likely to be the result of intermittent corruptions of the generated print stream between the workstation and the device (check cables, ports, switches, etc.); it could also possibly be an intermittent problem with the printer itself.

hp officejet pro 8500 a909a frequently shows out of paper when it is not.  I am .getting rub marks on the top sheet of paper from the rollers.

Your response to my question seems to reflect a rude attitude simply because I asked this question.  In response to your response, I have no manual, and the first place I went for info was the HP website - and I got you.
There are three things that I need from you, and none of them is a sarcastic rude attitude.  Please provide me with the following information:
         1.  Information on how to clean the rollers.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Premium won't print cardstock - error message of "out of paper" appears

My printer won't print cardstock, the error message says "out of Paper".  I have tried 3 different types of cardstock and it won't accept any of them.  It will print on plain paper.  Is this machine defective?  HELP...URGENT
I must be able to print cardstock.  The computer was just set up today...it is brand new and purchased directly from HP.

After trying a lot of different things, for some God-only-knows reason, this is the trick that worked for me. This is really more of a hack than a true fix, but I'm not picky when it's 2 AM and I don't have any other options:
    (1) In the paper tray, alternate one sheet of the cardstock paper with one sheet regular plain paper. Make sure the tray is full, but not over-full. (This HP help article says not to do that but... whatever.)
    (2) In the Print dialogue box (however you can get to it) select the "Plain Paper" preset (not "thick paper" or "cardstock"). I had it on "Best" as you can see it the screen shot, but I don't think this is important.
    (3) I only had a single-page document, which I needed to print 30 copies of, so I inserted a blank page as a second page in the document file (a pdf).
    (4) I then made sure "Collate" was selected in my print settings.
If you have a multi-page document, maybe you will need to insert a blank page every other page... which sounds like a pain, and I feel for you.
Note: You'll need to monitor the printing closely - if ever the printer pulls two pages through instead of one, you'll need to pull the paper tray out and add a piece of paper so it's alternating correctly.
With this, I was able to print multiple copies without ever stopping. After a full day of fighting with the printer (which may or may not have included sacrifices of limbs under a full moon to the printer gods... just kidding) this was like magic.
Hope this works for you - or other people who read this thread. This is a really frustrating situation.
PS. Before I did this, I also did a full reset of the printer, which included:
    1. Turning off the printer and unplugging it for a full minute
    2. Printing 100 blank pages
I have no idea if this helps, but if this hack isn't working for you, this "reset" is worth a try.

  • HP 720c in windows 7 64bit "out of paper"

Added the driver for the 720 c I found on this site. Windows 7 shows the printer and says it is working properly. It is connected to the PC via a parallel port card in a pci-e slot. Shows on port LPT1 and no conflicts are seen. When  I print to this printer the document shows in the queue but does not print out and after about 2 mins the queue shows "out of paper". I have also tried it as LPT2: with the same results. When I put the printer back on the XP machine it prints fine. Why do I get the "out of paper" error in windows 7 when it is full of paper?

    Hello Talyn16,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your concerns with your Deskjet 720C. Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
We want to fix the "Out Of Paper" error message first before we move on. Please follow this HP document on 'Out of Paper' Error Message Displays on the Computer, and the Printer Does Not Pick Up or Feed Pape...
When performing a "Reset", leave the power cord out for more than 60 seconds.

  • Printer has paper, but computer says it is out of paper and won't print from web

I am having trouble getting the computer to recognize that the printer has paper. The printer will print copies that I put in it, but when I want to print from the web, it won't let me do it; it just tells me that the printer is out of paper. I printed a number of pages from the web yesterday with no problem at all. I have an HP Deskjet F2430.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I was trying to print off some material I had looked up on the web. When I saw what I was trying to print was going to be 40 pages, I did not want to continue printing it, and I did not know how to stop the printing, so I just pulled out my paper from the loader thing. I have since put paper back in the loader, but now my printer will not print anything, and says I am out of paper. I have tried and tried to fix this problem, and I really need to be able to print stuff, so I am pretty frustrated with this. I am a senior citizen and will admit that I am not all that astute with tech stuff. I would certainly appreciate some guidance with my problem. Thank you very much.

  • Photosmart 7160 Duplex Printing Out of Paper Side 2 Intermittent Windows 7 USB

The printer works fine on XP but 75 percent of the time it fails on Windows 7. I have a removable drive so I can switch back and forth between XP and Windows 7. Symptom: Let's say I want to print 10 documents. Each document is 1 1/2 pages long. I command it to print 10, duplex, fast draft, copies. Usually the first document will print double sided. The second document will fail to reverse the paper after printing the first side. The paper will continue forward to the end of the output tray. Since the paper did not reverse and go into the flip over device, I now get and Out of Paper error and must manually hit the OK button on the printer. It then feeds the next (!) sheet of paper from the input tray. So it takes me 10 minutes to print the 10 documents with only 2 or 3 of them actually being double sided. It would normally take less than 2 minutes for 10 duplex sheets at draft quality. When I boot from my XP drive everything works fine. It seems like the motor that reverses the paper never actually goes into reverse. I have removed the flip over device and cleaned everything in sight including the contacts. There are about 30 drivers listed in Properties. The first one says HPD7100T.GPD 6.10.2009 .

    AND forgot to say,
there is NO OPTION to SET MANAUL DULPEX (in win 7 drivers)
