Out-of-sync sound

Thought I was doing well on my first project and my clips got out of sync. I've gone through the manual, did what it said and I get a "Unable to put items in sync. Another item is in the way." Video is one V1. Audio is on A1/A2. However, from the beginning to the out-of-sync clips, there is a darkish gray area on V1/V2 that I can't get rid of and assume this is the "item" that is in the way. All but one of the clips are +51:19 out. I had tried to move the audio clip to another audio track, but it just pushed the video clip up a track and the two won't match up. As a result the very first clip now says it out by 28:20. Any thoughts to help my out would be appreciated.

  • Out of sync sound on itune movies downloaded (and external HDCP)

    My computer has always had a sound and movie sync issue but it has gotten much worse since the last version of itunes.  I had purchased a move a few weeks ago and it was able to play on my computer and externally on our HD TV (which is HDCP compatible).  Now all my movies are completely out of sync in minutes and they are not able to play on our tv.   What is going on?
    I have windows 8 and now itunes 11.0.2.26

    Hi Joel Nelson
    As an added note, the DVD plays well on my computer but the movie on the second layer won't load on my set-top DVD player. Separate, probably un-related issue, but worth noting.
    Let me get this striaght .... It's only out of sync on the standalone DVD Player but plays ok on the computer? Is this correct?
    If so, have you tried the out of sync DL DVD on another set top DVD Player to perhaps isolate this issue?
    Suggestion: Take it to a local consumer electronics shop and try it out on multiple name brand DVD Players.

  • NetGroup multicast: delay, a/v out of sync

    Hello,
    I've tested multicast example Michael provided us with (viewer.mxml/provider.mxml) and found that after viewer is connected there is a significant delay between publisher and viewer (around few secs) that is being reduced till realtime in some time, but even after delay is reduced we have audio/video out of sync, sound came later than video (or maybe video came later than audio... don't remember exactly).
    Do you have any ideas why this happens - maybe because of beta?

    Hi Mike,
    I'm back with more details. I tried publishing with a Mac instead of a Windows but still having the same problem. I tried out  VideoPhoneLabs live sample to test 1-1 communication and observe A/V  sync. Everything is working fine (but VideoPhoneLabs isn't using NetGroups multicast). I tried out publishing/subscribing on the same computer but doesn't make any difference. Still getting the same problem with audio so I tried out creating an application using only audio stream. Here are the details of my application:
    - I created a conference call application (uses only audio streaming) where all participants are allowed to speak and hear other participants.
    - Here is how it works:
         - First I create a NetConnection and connect to Stratus with "rtmfp://stratus.adobe.com/" and my developer key (Connection without out any problems).
         - Once connected to the server, I create my GroupSpec with the following options:
                    _groupSpecifier = new GroupSpecifier( GROUP_NAME );
                    _groupSpecifier.multicastEnabled = true;
                    _groupSpecifier.objectReplicationEnabled = true;
                    _groupSpecifier.postingEnabled = true;
                    _groupSpecifier.routingEnabled = true;
                     _groupSpecifier.serverChannelEnabled = true;
                    _groupSpec = _groupSpecifier.groupspecWithoutAuthorizations();
         - Then I join the NetGroup and initialize my outgoingStream at the same time.
         - Once "NetStream.Connect.Success" is dispatched, I start my outgoingStream:
                   - I attach the audio to the stream (I use "mic.codec = SoundCodec.SPEEX")
                   - I publish it using "_outgoingStream.publish( _netGroup.convertPeerIDToGroupAddress(_nearID) )"
         - To listen to other participants stream, I listen to the event "NetGroup.MulticastStream.PublishNotify". Once this event is dispatched, I create as many incoming streams as participants joining the same group. If you need more details on how I create these incoming streams, I'll be happy to communicate them to you.
         - Everything goes fine, I can see all participants connected to the group and hear them all BUT here is my big problem. When participants are speaking there is an audio latency of 2-3 seconds before I can hear them (test based on "OK" written in SKYPE when a participant starts speaking). All participants have to wait about 20-30 seconds before a complete synchronization, meaning no latency on audio. Participants speak and are heard straight away. After these 20-30 seconds synchronization, communication is just amazing. Everything is perfect.
         - I tried this application on the following environment: every participants are publishing/subscribing using either Mac, Windows Vista, Windows 7 on either FireFox, Google Chrome or Safari. I tried it out as well just on my Windows 7 (publisher and subscriber) using several different browsers (to simulate other participants) but still getting the same problem (audio latency of 2-3 seconds and after 20-30 seconds, synchronization is perfect). Did the same again but just on one Mac but still the same problem.
    I hope my explainations are understandable. My goal is to reduce these 20-30 seconds before synchronization is good (no latency).
    I think the problem is comming for the audio, because video is usually working great. It maybe comes from the fact I'm using NetGroup because 1-1 communication using VideoPhoneLabs (which is not using NetGroup... tell me if I'm wrong) and other application I've created before based on VideoPhoneLabs are working greate (no latency).
    I really can't get over this problem. Hope to hear from you soon.
    Sincerely
    -suiss

  • Sound out of sync on DL DVD

    The audio is out of sync by about 3 seconds on a 132-minute DL DVD I just encoded and burned in iDVD. The video was edited in Final Cut Express, using 16-bit 48Khz audio recorded using Sound Studio 3.
    From Final Cut Express each movie was processed with Anamorphicizer (a 3rd-party freeware tool) to preserve the 16:9 aspect ratio. Then the reference movies generated by Anamorphicizer were imported into iDVD for burning.
    After encoding the first time, iDVD failed with a -34502 error before burning. This was due to the menu error. I changed menu templates and burned again. It multiplexed everything and burned to the DVD.
    When I played back the disc, I found the audio is about 3 seconds out of sync with the video. A single-layer edition of the same movie was also produced and the audio was flawless on it (though the picture quality was bad).
    As an added note, the DVD plays well on my computer but the movie on the second layer won't load on my set-top DVD player. Separate, probably un-related issue, but worth noting.

  • Sound goes out of sync after pausing video

    Hi everyone,
    Got a 1 month old Apple TV which is working just great with videos bought off the store... However I've run into a really annoying problem when watching videos that I've encoded myself. They will all play just fine, from beginning to end - unless I pause them. When the videos are un-paused the sound is badly out of sync, and no amount of pausing/unpausing stopping/starting will get it back in sync again. Best I can do is restart from the beginning and fast forward to the same spot and this usually results in a better sync - but not perfect. This happens with both SD and HD encoded video. They are playing off the internal drive having been synced over from my itunes library.
    My Apple TV is on 3.0.1 firmware and I'm running iTunes on a Windows 7 laptop. I've been using "Any Video Converter Pro" (http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video/)to re-encode my videos as I don't know much about the subject and it has an AppleTV option which makes it really easy...
    Here's the settings used for a typical video file: 1280x720 resolution with a 3500kbs bit-rate at 25fps, audio bit-rate of 128kbs with a 44100 sample rate. 2 channels.
    Would be grateful for any ideas on what's going wrong here as this is really spoiling my enjoyment of the apple tv.
    Cheers,
    Steve

    Sounds like the encoder software causing issues.
    When I encode on the Mac from my Camcorder to itunes/ATV I use HandBrake with good results - there is linux and Windoze versions versions available.
    It has a preset for ATV as the destination which saves the hassle of tweaking the settings to start with....
    It's been around sometime and was fantastic help when I went from Windoze to Mac a few years ago, and I wanted to re-encode all those files I had still in raw DV format from the camera.

  • Ipad audio and sound out of sync

    For a few months my iPad's audio has been out of sync with videos as well as the sounds like the keyboard clicks. Sometimes it is more out of sync, sometimes less. I have tried turning the device off and on again, resetting preferences, and searching online with no solutions found. Anyone know how I can fix this?

    I'm having similar problems transferring VHS video to Quicktime. Another problem I'm having is when I transfer a VHS video to iMovie and then export the video to H.264 format, I have similar sync problems, even though the iMovie seems perfectly in sync.
    I'm going to try to transfer several alternative video formats (video from my cable DVR, Video from live TV, and video from a digital mini cassette to try and figure out whether the VHS format is the culprit. Will keep you posted.

  • Sound import to 25 fps sequence is always out of sync and need rendering!!!

    Anyone know why an aif sound file from Pro Tools imported to 25 fps sequence is always out of sync and needs rendering? It is like FCP is converting it to another freq. when it is 48k already! I do this all the time with NTSC and 23.98 projects, what is up with the 25 frame seq.??
    Thanks, Mark

    Your audio files must be 48,000 kHz AIFF files if you want to use them in Final Cut Pro.
    If the originals are coming from CD's they are 44,100 kHz.
    Resample in Soundtrack Pro or convert in QuickTime Player.
    Your location says you are in LA. Why are you working in in PAL?
    I know that things need to be at 48K this would not matter anyway if it was 44.1 FCP would do the conversion and not make it out of sync in an NTSC Timeline, but a PAL timeline FCP screws with the sound file. The files came from pro Tools, the industry standard should mixing.
    I put them through Sound Track Pro and it did not help.

  • Sound effect is out of sync

    Hey all,
    I'm trialing Premiere CS6.
    I have my sequence, about 1:20 with many video clips and tons of sound clips. I exported the sequnce to a pro res 1920x1080 24p, uncompressed audio.
    The entire thing is pretty much perfect, as far as I can tell, except for ONE sound clip which I know is not in the right spot. It is a slow tension crescendo that has been speed up (with pitch mainatained) to fit within my video clips. When viewing the exported file, the audio clip reaches it's tension climax about 1 second or so before it should. In the timeline, it lines up perfectly.
    As far as I can tell, this is the only sound clip that is out of sync, which is really weird.
    Anyone know what could be happening?
    Thanks
    Specs:
    MBP C2D 5.53 8 gb ram

    My bad, I was always under the impression that H264 was a type of quicktime format and thought you meant to export to a different uncompressed format.
    I'll give it a shot, tried to adjust a few things to see if that makes any difference

  • Sound is out of sync in iMovie and video freezes at a part but audio continues. How do i fix this???

    Can someone please help me. I have even tried the youtube videos and can't seem to get the sound to sync up on my videos in Imovie. Also, one part just stalls and stays on the same frame but the audio continues on fine.
    I NEED HELP!!! This is for school and I can't hand this in all wacked out

    44100 Hz is fine and the audio codec is fine. Most camcorders record at 48000 Hz, but audio CDs are recorded are 44100 Hz, and iMovie handles them well.
    However, your video frame rate is an odd number. A camcorder in the US will usually record at 29.97 frames per second. In Europe, the standard is 25 fps. On some cameras, you also have the option of 24 fps (same as a Hollywood movie).
    Your camera is recording at 14.89, which is about half of the 29.97 standard. I am guessing that the video is from a webcam or maybe a cell phone or still camera.  It is difficult to sync audio over long periods of time if your video is not conforming to the standards. Cameras like this may record at varioable rates, so sometimes you get more than 14.89 and sometimes less. Your best bet would be to make an iMovie project at 29.97 fps, so that it will basically repeat each frame of your video twice to get up to 29.78 fps. Even so, it will drift out of sync over time.
    If you had Final Cut Pro X, you could use the tools in FCP to conform your video and audio to a 29.97 timeline and probably keep it synced better. Long term, your best bet is to use a camcorder that can shoot 29.97 (or 30) fps.
    Short term, I would suggest keeping your clips in your project short. For your 15 minute clip, drag in the first minute, then the 2nd minute, etc. untill you have it all. Even so, it may drift. Detaching audio is probably not necessary.

  • Sound out of sync on video on n97

    I HAVE JUST NOTICED THAT THE VIDEOS THAT I HAVE DOWNLOADED ONTO MY N97 HAVE THE SOUND OUT OF SYNC,ANY IDEA WHY AND HOW TO FIX IT?

    First off, don't SHOUT.
    Second, do the videos play correctly on a PC or other device?, maybe the video is out of sync with the audio in the file.
    Third, if the video plays correctly in other PC or device, then what's the bitrate and framerate?, maybe it's too high for the N97 to handle.

  • Sound goes slowly out of sync

    Hello!
    I am editing material from Nikon d7000 in Final Cut Pro Academic.
    I converted the files in Mpeg Streamclip to Apple Pro Res 422. I recorded the sound separately as .wav file. When I put those files to the timeline I sync the sound and movie files and they look fine. They are in sync for the first minutes and then slowly goes out of sync.
    Has anyone experienced this and knows why this happens?
    Karl

    Unless your audio recorder is driven by a proper timecode clock, there is no way you are going to keep your recordings in sync.  You might get lucky a few times, but that's mostly luck.  Even weak batteries in the audio recorder can slow your audio.
    This is only going to result in a tiny drift at worst, even over a long duration. If the recorders are both digital, you're more likely than not to "get lucky." Sample accurate? No. Frame accurate? probably, or at least close enough that nobody will notice. ****, there was no timecode clock on my 16mm camera, just a crystal to govern the motor speed. it never had a problem staying in dead-on sync with either a nagra or a DAT recorder, neither of which had timecode.
    If someone is noticing drift, it's probably pretty bad, and it's most likely because of sample or frame rate mismatches.
    My question is - How long is the clip, and how far out of sync is it? Karl, If you can give a ballpark number, it should be possible to guess at which kind of problem you have.
    One that's bit us repeatedly is having the wrong Easy Setup selected when importing audio into FCP. If the Easy Setup is PAL, for example, but you're working on an NTSC project most things just work fine, but the audio import happens at the PAL frame rate and causes pretty severe drift over time.
