Out of synch and out of sorts.

Question

After removing background noise in an audio clip in Audacity, I export it to FCE and then drag it from the Browser to lie beneath the correct video.
However.
The journey to and from Audacityland seems to have have robbed the audio clip of the signals it needs for FCE to pop up those convenient little boxes asking me if I want to synchronize my clips.
I certainly do.
So without that facility I am reduced to trying to eyeball the alignment and it is not working out well. Is than any way I can synchronize my video and audio clip?

Thank you for the prompt response to my post.
I selected the audio in the Timeline, (1.36 minutes) and converted it to AIFF, saving it as a document file.
I opened Audacity, imported the file, selected the area with the offending noise, prompted Audacity to “remember “ it, selected the entire clip, used the ‘noise removal” option at 15% and check the sound. It was fine - the hum was gone.
I saved the file to Format (Apple) signed 16 bit PCM and saved it as a Document.
At no time did I shorten or otherwise alter the clip.
I closed Audacity and opened FCE.
In the Timeline I deleted the old - noisy - version of my audio clip.
I imported my new clean audio file from Documents into the FCE Browser and dragged it from there into the Timeline beneath my video clip. The audio is fine, beautifully clear.
The difficulty arose in aligning it. I tried to slide the clip along the track to butt against the cursor, but I always seem to be off a frame or two.
