Now that the iphone 5 is out and the 3gs is discontinued/no longer available, will Apple still provide "out-of-warranty" service on the 3gs? They used to service your out-of-warranty 3gs for 150 dollars.

Out of warranty iPhone 3Gs replacement w/ hardware malfunction

I recieved my second replacement iPhone 3Gs 32GB from Apple in December. My original iPhone was glitching and the first replacement wouldnt recognize the SIM because it didnt fit.
Anyway, I was studying for a test this summer and the home button just stopepd functioning. I now have to press really heard and hope it works.
I scheduled an appointment and was told my phone:
-is a replacement from December
-is out of 'warranty'
-was opened by the Apple technician only to find 'nothing wrong' withthe home button
He said to call headquaters and ask them for a special exception because it is definitely a hardware issue and I am too far out of the 'replacement warranty' for the Apple tech. to grant me an exception.
I called 1-800-MYAPPLE only to be told by the computer that I cannot get phone support because I am out of 'warranty.' Go figure,
Frustrated, I called my local apple store only to hear the person on the other end tell ME that they would liek to buy an Apple Macbook. I was then hung up on.
I called another store and was told to come here, to the "chat" on the apple Support page.
Someone, anyone...help.
P.S. Why is that my original iPhone 3Gs warranty lasts an entire year, but a replacement doesn't? It was less than 6 months since I had recieved my replacement. I've been dealing with this for over a month!

Basically because if you were dishonest, and that is not an accusation you could then turn it into an everlasting warranty! Hope you take that in the manner it is meant!

Where can i get a refurbished out of warranty iphone 4 for 150$?

My iphone 4 is tottally broke and ive been told on here that i can get an out of warranty iphone 4 for 150$. I am already in a contract with at&t and i called apple and they said they did not have refurbished phones and i also called at&t but they didnt either. Thats the most my mom wants to spend and i am desperate for a phone and i have looked everywhere but where can i get the out of warrant refurbished iphone for that price?

Depends wher you obtained the iPhone from and it's original supplier
If the iPhone is an authorised unlock ( approved by the carrier) or was
purchased from Apple as an unlocked iPhone updating the iOS
will have no effect on the iPhone and it's lock status
HOWEVER if the software has been tampered with to remove the lock,
updating the iOs will lock the iPhone back to the original carrier who holds the lock
To find out the status of your iPhone you could call Apple support
and they may tell you if the iPhone is locked or not and if it is which carrier

Apple Care Warranty - Iphone 3Gs 16g discontinued

My warranty is ending in a few weeks and I never used it yet.. my phone is actually getting tired, Home button not always working, weird sport in the screen, battery draining really fast..
I just read that Apple Store don't have any Iphone 3gs 16gig anymore to sell at their stores.
I was just wondering, if I get there to use my warranty and get a new Iphone, will they get me a refurbished 3gs 16g and a Iphone 4 ?
In the AppleCare contract, do they have the right to replace my Iphone with a refurbished one ?

A refurbished iPhone from apple is pretty much new. The glass will be new and the back casing will be new so it looks new. The serial number will be new & since the SIM card try has the serial number on it the SIM card tray will be new too.
I've had three refurbished iPhones for warranty issues and they have all appeared to look new and have no issues out of the box or issues related to them being refurbished.

I can't find video out on my iphone 3gs

I bought an apple component cable for my iphone 3gs and/or 4th generation itouch. But even when the cable is plugged in I can't find the video out setting.
I realize that since the new update to 5, this setting is in a different location (under general), but it is still not showing up.
New Samsung TV is not recognizing anything, no sound, nothing. Cant seem to find a straight forward answer online.
I was hoping to watch netflix from phone through TV.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

iphone 3s and iphone 4 dont support mirror so it will only use the video out when it's in an supported app test with youtube and maybe video apple app

I'm having problem sending email on my iPhone 3GS today only. Error "Cannot send Mail: an error occurred while delivering this message." WiFi is off; Turn on all the SMTP to Yahoo and Gmail; I have powered it off and on again, still my email are not sending out.

Ya - I am have the same problem. I have 4 accounts that are set-up on my phone. 3 Gmail - I can receive but not send out replies - all settings are matched up with gmail sever information. I have 1 Yahoo account which I can send and receive from no problem. Why??

Out of warranty Iphone 5 replacement - can I do this in-store without a genius bar appointment?

My Iphone 5 has died and despite attempts to fix this in-store I have been told that I will need to buy a replacement out-of-warranty phone. I have been through the genius bar process last month to try and fix the phone but without success. I now simply want to buy the replacement phone (at the reduced rate as the phone was not damaged by me). Do I need to make an appointment in the apple store or can I just show up and purchase this, as long as I have the broken old phone with me? Any similar experiences? I'd be grateful for any advice. I don't want to make a wasted trip to the Apple store just to be told I need another appointment! Thanks

the genius will examine your iPhone and if satisfied it qualifies should offer an out of warranty exchange unit ($269 in US )

No one I know, that has a 3GS, has experienced any "slow down" problems, nor am I aware of any such widespread problems. If there were, this forum would be flooded with posts attesting to such...it is not. Millions of this units were sold & the vast majority of users have zero issues.
Everytime Apple updates the iOS, reports surface of floods, people going bald, their pets run away, their house burn down, etc., etc. Been like this since the first iOS update. Widespread? No.

What is the current (july 2013) cost to replace a broken out of warranty iphone 4?

I live in British Columbia, Canada and would like to know what the current price is to buy a replacement iPhone 4 GSM. ANd how do I go about it?
The only prices I found in the communtities was from back in 2010 or 2011 and was for $199 I read somewhere else (unknown date) that the price was lower at $149. I don't know what currency they were refereing to, (I assume US dollars) I would also like to know if there are also taxes and what is the shipping cost or can I get one from an apple repairshop etc...?

IPhone 3GS activation with iOS 5

Hi there,
So I'm helping someone out with updating iPhone 3GS to iOS 5. Here's the thing...the iPhone was unlocked so that it could be used on T-Mobile. But now the phone is not a phone anymore and acts like an iPod Touch and wanted to upgrade to iOS 5, so I restored it with the iOS 5 ipsw package. I obviously had to switch the T-Mobile SIM card out with my dad's old AT&T SIM card, and tried to activate the iPhone 3GS and it keeps failing all the time no matter what I do! I cannot get past this and am trying to figure out why it's not working. I'm going through the iOS 5 setup, and I don't want to activate it as phone and want to keep it working like an iPod Touch running iOS 5. Any suggestions anyone? I hope an answer can be found soon...by the end of the weekend preferably...

P.S. I have it plugged into iTunes (10.5, Windows 7), and it says that there is no SIM installed when obviously the AT&T SIM card is in there....

You would have needed to jailbreak and hack your 3GS to get it to work with T-mobile, since AT&T never unlocks their iPhones.
One of the problems with jailbreaking is that your phone can become permanently bricked when trying to update the OS.
In any case, discussion of jailbroken or hacked phones is prohibited by the Terms of Use of this forum. Jailbreaking and hacking void the warranty with Apple, and eliminates the possibility of any help from Apple or it's forums, including this one.

Part of my Touch screen not working, out of warranty. Please Help

This just started a few days ago, I have been going crazy. I can't access a bar in the upper portion of the screen. I can't dial 4 5 6 buttons. I can't type a t in landscape mode keyboard. This is my second iphone, the first one I dropped once and the screen shattered. This one I have carried around like a newborn its entire life, scared to death I would drop it, I have treated it like gold and now this happens. I have seen on these forums, people getting these replaced for free at some apple stores, why isn't there a standard for this situation, some people get denied, some get a new phone. The closest apple store is 100 miles away, in Grand Rapids, MI, I have scheduled an appointment with a genius there this saturday. I have printed out the http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1827 article along with numerous threads showing people who have had success getting thier out of warranty iphone replaced because of this specific condition.

I can only offer my story. I bought a used 1st gen Iphone. PO had upgraded to 3G. After about 6 months for no reason my screen froze. Called Apple care and suggested I reboot, reinstall, etc.. None of it worked so AC suggested I go to the Apple Store and let them look at it. They told me they could replace w/a refurb @ $200.00, I could buy a new 3G @ $400.00, or I could get a third party to repair it. I mentioned to the Apple guy about the reports of the screen going dead on some phones and he said my phone fell outside the serial numbers that were affected. A little upset, I called AC again and just pushed a little more. I told the guy since it was a mnufacturers defect but my phone was out of warranty I would go half on a refurb at $100.00. He said wait a minute, came back had me send my phone to them and they sent me a replacement phone free. Talk nice to the guys and they will try to help. I said so what I have here now is a very expensive paper weight, is that right? That's when I said I'd go halves on a refurb. I guess they took pity on me. Hope it works out for you.
