Outdated ActiveX control Blocking

Hello all... I am working on blocking the new Outdated Active X Control feature that has come down in the Augst update but will not be in effect until the September updates. I know that I can use group policy or a registry edit to disable that feature, at
least for the time being so we can do more testing on our enviornment. However, I do not see any feature in Internet Options that allows you to turn this on or off. Am I missing that setting? We are still on IE 9 in our enviornment. Thanks in advance!

This feature does not warn about or block ActiveX controls in the Local Intranet Zone or Trusted Sites Zone.

You can also download updated Internet Explorer administrative templates, including these new settings, from the
Administrative Templates for Internet Explorer page.
There is no point in having a user definable setting for blocking out of date ActiveX controls. It would defeat the whole purpose of the security patch...
Use the updated administrative Templates to administer it centrally in your company with GPO
or update/check your installed versions of Java RTE

  • MS14-065 (Nov. IE update) breaks domain-based exception list for outdated ActiveX Blocking.

The November cumulative IE update (MS14-065) appears to break the domain-based exceptions for the new outdated ActiveX control blocking that is described here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn761713.aspx
We have the new IE group policies deployed in our environment to add domain exceptions for our enterprise to the outdated ActiveX blocking. This was all working perfectly prior to MS14-065. After installing that November update, our exceptions are no longer
working and users are getting the block message for their Java applications.
Our environment is Windows 7 SP1 x64 using IE 9. Domain Controllers are 2008 R2.
If I manually remove MS14-065 (falling back to MS14-056, October update) the exceptions all work again as expected. Re-installing MS14-065 (November update) causes the exceptions to stop working again.
    Thanks,

    What is your current situation?
Have you tried the solution as MVP IECustomizer and Robear Dyer mentioned?

    Hi,
Actually Arnavsharma provided a operable method for you. But no luck, it's not invalid.
Here I also offer you an method you can try. Please delete the extra (parasite) zone from the Zones subkey :
Click Start , click Run , type regedit , and then click OK
    Expand the following registry subkey
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones
Delete the extra (parasite) zone from the Zones subkey
Note: The parasite zone is a pseudo-graphic number listed before zone number 0. The pseudo-graphic number looks like a miniature upper case "L"
    Close the registry editor
    Thanks!

  • Internet Explorer begins blocking out-of-date ActiveX controls

On Wednesday 6th August 2014, we announced that as part of our ongoing commitment to delivering a more secure browser, starting September 9th Internet Explorer will block out-of-date ActiveX controls. (Note: The original post stated that the ActiveX blocking
would begin on August 12th. Please refer to the addendum for further details).
Please take a look at this important update via the
blog post as well as the FAQ contained therein and commence testing within your domain.

    Hello,
There seems to be an entry missing in the
    versionlist.xml file.
There is an entry missing for wsdetect.dll (isInstalled Class ActiveX Control) from Java 1.7, I believe (there is an entry for 1.6, 1.5, 1.4 but 1.7 is missing).
Here is the relevant portion of the XML file:
    <blocklistentry key="{5852f5ed-8bf4-11d4-a245-0080c6f74284}" entrytype="2">
    <versionentries numberofelements="4">
    <versionentry groupname="Java(TM) 1.6.0_81" filename="wsdetect.dll" productversion="6.0.810.0-6.65535.65535.65535" fileversion="6.0.810.0-6.65535.65535.65535" />
    <versionentry groupname="Java(TM) 1.5.0_71" filename="JavaWebStart.dll" productversion="5.0.710.0-5.65535.65535.65535" fileversion="5.0.710.0-5.65535.65535.65535" />
    <versionentry groupname="Java(TM) 1.4.2_43" filename="JavaWebStart.dll" productversion="1.4.2.430-1.4.65535.65535.65535" fileversion="1.4.2.430-1.4.65535.65535.65535" />
    <versionentry groupname="Java(TM)" filename="*" productversion="*" fileversion="*" />
    </versionentries>
This causes the alert prompt to appear when using Java 1.7 update 67 even though it's allowed by XML.
To reproduce, please go to a site that uses wsdetect.dll like Wikipedia (like here
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Example.ogg) and check if the prompt appears for you.

  • One or more activex controls could not be displayed because either

    Hi.
I don't know if this is the right forum for my problem.
    Anyway,
I have a problem with my Windows Services.
Each time when I launch Windows Services window, I get a warning:
One or more activex controls could not be displayed because either:
    1. your current security settings prohibit running activex
    controls on this page, or
    2. you have blocked a publisher of one of the controls.
as a result, the page may not display correctly.
The warning pop-up opens only when I click on Extended tab.
The problem has nothing to do with IE security, because I can open pages with ActiveX controls on them and so.
I have installed Spybot spyware/malware removal tool. Then uninstalled it.
I'm not sure if this is the cause of the problem. But I presume it is.
So, may be someone was facing the same problem and knows the cause for it.
    Thanks.

Unlike the rubbish that was stated before this post, this one works.  This is the solution and Jishnu is brilliant.  Thanks a million, friend.
Try to follow the KB article (KB907343).
    1.
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
    2.
    Expand the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0
    3.
In the right pane, right-click 1200, and then click Modify.
    4.
In the Value data box, type either 1 or 0 to overwrite the existing value of 3. Then, click OK.
Note If you type 1 in the Value data box, you will receive the following prompt when you start Microsoft Project:
Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX controls and plug-ins to run?Additionally, you will receive this prompt at other times when you use Microsoft
Project. If you do not want to receive this prompt, type 0 in the Value data box.
The values 0, 1, and 3 are associated with the following behavior:
0 = Enabled, or the action is permitted
    1 = Prompt
3 = Disabled, or the action is not permitted
    5.
    Quit Registry Editor.
IF this does not works try to check the Internet Options..
Try to reset the Internet Explorer.
    1. Click on
    Start & run.
    2. Type inetcpl.cpl & click
    ok
    3. Click on Advance Tab & click on
Reset (Make sure to put the check mark on the delete the personal setting for IE8) then again
    reset.
    4. Click
    close.
    This should work.

  • How do I update my ActiveX controls without breaking existing VIs?

Hi, I'm new to LabView. I've inherited a labview application that makes use of several user-written VIS. All these vi files use an ActiveX control. For better or worse, the way they've done it is to put a ActiveX Container on the front panel. They then picked "Insert ActiveX Control", and picked the correct OCX. In the block diagram, they set up a "Invoke" Node and wire the ActiveX control to that.
The problem occurs when I update the ActiveX control. I added a couple of methods and reregistered it. When I run one of my vi files, I get:
Error 0 occurred at VI Open & Init Spinstand
    Possible Reasons....
I then thought that going to the front panel and deleting the ActiveX control and reinser
ting it would work. Instead I got the message:
Error 1598667368 occurred at VI open & Init...
I should point out that I'm not even attempting to use the new function yet; I'm just running an old .vi file with the updated ActiveX control.
The version of LabView I'm using is 6.0.2. Can anyone tell me what's going on? Is there a way to gracefully update the ActiveX control? I'm I adding ActiveX controls in the best way?
Any help or references would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Andrew Walker

Updating *.OCX OR *.DLL Component When Active X Automation Interface has Changed
Given that you have changed the ActiveX automation interface, e.g: by appending new functions, then, the original 'registered' ActiveX server automation interface is no longer compatible with the new one.
In this case you must: (1) un-register the original interface; (2) Copy the New *.OCX/*.DLL File over the previous ones; (3) Then re-register the new interface; (4) After that you must visit ALL your LabVIEW Diagram PROPERTY and METHOD ActiveX automation nodes and re-reference those same functions.
These FOUR (4) Steps are further explained below:
    1. Unregister the *.OCX or *.DLL file by running the command
    Regsvr32 /u
Make sure that points to the full path name for your *.OCX or *.dll file. You must use the opening and closing quotes if your file path has spaces.
    2. Copy the new *.OCX or *.DLL files over the old ones
This means that you will be over-writing the old *.OCX or *.DLL with the new files. Replacing these files is re-commended so that you do not end up with multiple copies of the same file.
    3. Register The New *.OCX Controls
Register the new controls by running the command
    Regsvr32
This will now honor your new ActiveX automation interface in place of the last one.
    4. Re-Visit All PROPERTY and METHOD Nodes and Re-Reference the same functions that appear in those nodes
This means that you will be right-clicking on all the existing PROPERTY and METHOD nodes and choosing the functions accordingly from the drop-down list-view/menu. If the list view is grayed-out, then Steps 1 to 3 did not take!
    NB: GOTCHA FOR *.DDL Users
If you have sub-VIs that use the *.dll Ref icon then you will have to cut and re-insert this reference control in all those sub-Vis. A quick way is to copy the top level *.Dll ref icon and paste it over the control and indicator versions of the same in those sub VIs.
These four Steps plus the 'Gotcha Step' have worked consistenly when I have had to update ActiveX controls featuring a changed automation interface.

  • ActiveX controls and clear_form

If you use ActiveX controls in forms and issue a clear all from
the menu, or a clear_form built-in, it will kill any ActiveX
controls in the Form. Once I set a key_clear trigger to clear my
master data block and used clear_all_master_details to flush all
the data blocks in my form, leaving control block alone, my
    ActiveX controls stopped crashing.
I didn't find this mentioned in the documentation, and thought
someone might be able to save themselves some aggravation.

    Hi,
to have pure html controls in jspx, I have one idea, for example for < br > tag this is:
    < br xmlns="" / >
It works, but I think with activex it's not so simple. I tried :
    ' <object xmlns="" id="ThermalLib" height="0" width="0" classid="clsid:904511D2-5407-4033-8DAD-07B33EC7317E"> '
    But it doesn't work.
    Did you solve this problem?
Mayby somebody know how to launch activex from jspx?

  • ActiveX controls not downloaded when using Internet Explorer 10

We have many legacy applications developed using ASP and VB(InterDev). Our organization is moving to use Internet Explorer 10 in the near future.
We had a IE10 compatibility testing for our legacy applications and we observed that the applications using ActiveX controls are not working. Applications works perfectly fine with the older version of Internet Explorer.
We looked for the various workarounds but we did not find any.
Some application does nothing when we click on a button to generate the report but some applications throws the below error:
    <div id="x_x_imcontent"> <div style="font-size: 9pt; direction: ltr;">"ActiveX
control failed to load! -- This control is required to use the Address Book and Attachment features.  Please check your browser security settings and/or contact PC Support to install the digitally signed control."</div>
    </div>
We will be glad if we get any assistance on this issue.

    Hi,
Please post your ActiveX feature testing scripts to the IE Web Developer forum.
    (f12>Debug tab, search for ActiveX.... you should be able to find code blocks where you are feature testing for your ActiveX controls eg var ourcontrol=new ActiveX('foobar');
these code blocks will be the origin of the error messages that are injected into the page. (you can also search for where the "ActiveX control failed to load" string is in your code.)
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/ie/en-US/home?forum=iewebdevelopment
IE10 has ActiveX filtering.... a blue circle with a line through it appears in the Address bar if any ActiveX content is blocked by Tools>ActiveX filtering.
IE10 has Enhanced protected Mode turned on by default in the Internet and Restricted Zones. I assume that you are mapping your test domain to the Intranet zone (where EPM is turned off by default and x32 bit controls are used.... if not you should see information
bars asking for permission to run the 32bit activeX controls)
Ensure you are using the Default IE security settings, (and also that you have applied the new admx files to your GPO and GPEdit control panels....)
Tools>Internet Options>Security tab, click "Reset all zones to default".
Ensure your test environment maps to the Intranet Zone (File>Properties) and that Enhanced Protected Mode is turned off for that zone (Security tab of Internet Options)
Ensure that your ActiveX controls are enabled (Tools>Manage Addons>Show all Addons) and that they have the correct permissions..... find them in the Addons manager and then click the item in the list to display their properties and permissions... at
the bottom of the Addons Properties there is a textarea with "You have approved this addon to run in the follow websites"... you testing and production domains should be listed.
For the best solutions/answers you should probably open a support ticket at support.microsoft.com so a support engineer can access your testing environment and do some tests.
    Regards.

  • Printing from ActiveX Control in crystal report 10 in IE7 not working

    Hi,
I am using ActiveX Control for printing in Crystal Report version 10 using Java. When I click on print button, ActiveX control dialog box opens and then click print button, the dialog box shows it's printing and does not stop and there is no print on printer. If any body have idea to resolve this issue, kindly tell me as soon as possible.

    Hello,
CR 10 is not supported in IE7. It may work if you use the Legacy mode in IE7. Also check your pop-up blocker and allow ActiveX controls to be installed.
    Thank you

  • ActiveX Control Problem

When I Generate Primary Layout and View Results I get my
project in a browser (IE7) and a message telling me that IE has
restricted the webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls. I
have to Allow Blocked Content to see my finished product properly.
    I am using the BeautifulVistas-WH-Generic skin, but I don't
see that until I Allow Blocked Content. Prior to that, I see a more
generic looking skin. All add-ins are enabled, and my security
settings are set to low. How can I avoid this?

Sounds like you are viewing webhelp locally without Mark of
the Web inserted. That will not happen to the end users as they
will view the help from a server.
You can either add MOTW or set IE to allow the blocked
content if you want to view it locally.

  • Hide ActiveX Control

    Hi everyone,
I'm attempting to use an ActiveX control supplied by a camera manufacturer (ImagingSource - http://www.imagingcontrol.com/en_US/support/documentation/iclabviewextension/).  The control itself is the display of the camera image.  However, I wish to use the IMAQ image indicator because it has the ROI tools built into it.  The library that came with the control also has a conversion from the native ActiveX control image to an IMAQ image so conversion is not an issue.
My problem is that I only want to have to IMAQ image displayed, not the image from the ActiveX control.  When I right click the control from the block diagram and select "Hide Control" the control disappears, however when I save the VI the control reappears.  I also tried to create a property node to hide the control but it does not have that option available.
Has anyone else encountered a problem like this? If so, how did you resolve it?
    Thanks!
    Eric

    Hi David,
    Thanks for your response.
So I didn't mention this in the initial post but I can't event select the control on the front panel.  If I want to delete it I have to delete it from the block diagram.  I can however resize it so I was able to place it properly.  It is definitely not a native LabVIEW object!  I attempted to hide the control and save again and lo and behold it didn't reappear (and hasn't after several more changes were committed and saved).  I'm not really sure what the issue was but it doesn't seem to be a problem now.  Again, thanks for the reply.

  • "an error occurred saving the activex control"

I'm trying to compile an executable in Labview 5.1. When I run the build app, it gets about half way done then pops up the error:
"an error occurred saving the activex control"
After clearing the error message, it proceeds to go through the motions of compling the app, but no exe is generated.
The design mode progam run operates fine, and it saves fine as well in design mode.
    Thanks!

    wawatts,
Though Brian and I got a broken arrow because we didn't have the necessary ActiveX component installed, I imagine you get no errors on the development system because you do have the component.
This problem would be much harder to pin down on your side given the lack of development-environment errors and the sprawling design of the main VI. One possible troubleshooting approach would be the LabVIEW Find functionality (Edit >> Find). ActiveX functionality typically involves the use of Property Nodes and Invoke Nodes, so if you search for any Invoke Nodes (Select Object, then Functions >> Communication >> ActiveX >> Invoke Node) in the scope of your main VI and its subVIs, you could perhaps have turned up some hits that take you to the subVI that has the control that is presumably causing the problem.
Unfortunately, I fear that finding the problem area doesn't solve the problem. It seems to me that either the LabVIEW app builder or the ActiveX component is doing something unexpected or nonstandard that is leading to the error message.
I'm going to stick to my "upgrade the software as much as possible" guns:
    1. Install the LabVIEW 5.1.1 patch I linked to above, if it isn't already installed. There were fixes to the development environment and changes to the app builder that might resolve your problem. This is a free patch.
    2. Consider upgrading the ActiveX control. I think that the latest version is called IntuiLink for 54600-series Oscilloscopes, Version 3.1, and it's available here on the Agilent site.
It was easy to do a simple test using your Xezgetsetup.vi on my system (LabVIEW 7.1.1, XP) with the updated ActiveX control. First, I installed the Agilent software. Then, I right-clicked inside the ActiveX control on the front panel of Xezgetsetup.vi, chose Insert ActiveX Object, and selected Agilent 54600 Scope Control from the list. Then I had to go to the block diagram and relink a few of the property and invoke nodes by just left-clicking on broken nodes and re-selecting the items that your code was already displaying. That fixed the VI so that it would run again.
Then I built that VI into an EXE and got no errors.
Perhaps all this proves is that you would have clear sailing if you upgraded to LabVIEW 7.1 and got the most recent Agilent ActiveX control--and maybe this is a good reason to bite the bullet and do that upgrade now--but it's certainly possible that you can do the same thing in 5.1 and solve your problem. Worth a shot.
    Hope that helps,
    John

  • Can I call any ActiveX control in the Forms under Oracle EBS 11.5.10 ?

    Hi All,
I have a custom form that works under EBS 11.5.10 (Windows Envoirnment). Is there any way for me to call an ActiveX control on this form? My requirement is to show a URL ( a web application) in Microsoft Web Browser.
I can successfully call ActiveX outside of the EBS i.e as forms runtime.
In EBS I get FRM-41344 OLE object not defined for <<block item>> in the current record and then FRM-40735 for exception ORA-305500.
WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT is an option to accomplish but ActiveX will provide more control and better look and feel.

  • How Use ActiveX Control Item!

Please Let me know how use OCX Control with ActiveX Control Item in forms6i,
    and send me Sample code(*.fmb).
Especially, I want to know how handle 'Event' of OCX Control in forms 6i.
When use VBasic, code is descibed in 'Event' of OCX Control, and then how handle 'Event' of OCX Control in forms 6i.
return to mail - [email protected]

I think that if you use an activeX container, property and invoke nodes will work for the document/file or whatever you have in it, so I recommed you to use references to the file you want to use, open an activeX reference in the block diagram, and pass this reference to open, write, save and exit. This can be done easyly using the invoke and property nodes you already know... If not, check for errors between them, sometimes one error makes the rest of the code not to work... Hope this helps.
If you want me to check the program, you can send an example here, but be sure it's LV 5.0, I've nor 5.1 nor 6.0, it can be a way of knowing the problem.

  • Concurrent  ActiveX control and QTML library access limitations

I have a .Net app that uses the QuickTime ActiveX control for read-only display of movie files. The app also uses the QTML SDK through an 'unmanaged' library for creating and editing movie files.
I am finding that, when flattening a large movie through the SDK, the ActiveX control interface is blocked. On completion of the SDK operation, the control's behaviour returns to normal. Note that different movie files are in use for each interface. What are the constraints for using the two interfaces concurrently?
    Thanks,

Technical Note TN2125 implies that this is expected behaviour:
"Additionally, QuickTime is completely serialized on Windows only allowing a single thread to call into the QuickTime Library at any one time. If one thread is performing a QuickTime operation, any other thread making a QuickTime API call will block waiting for the previous operation to return."
It would be useful to know how QuickTime Player does not also have this same restriction, as it is possible to manipulate multiple movies concurrently in Player.
