Outdated prerequisit when applying SAP Note

Hi Experts,
Ask a noob question here.
When we apply SAP note, SAP may popup the window to download an outdated prerequisit. For example, when I apply note A on release 700, system may popup to let me download note B, whose fix has been included in release 700. In this case, shall I just go ahead to download the old prerequisit in order to apply the new note?
Actually I awlays download the old note in order to apply the new note. There seems to be no impact. But I want to know if there is any offical note from SAP to confirm the approach.

your approach is good.. is what you should do.. just an advice.. before going to the SNOTE to implement the notes, try to trace the requirements by yourself, to know what you are applying, read carefully the notes and the pre-requisites, after this apply the notes.. this is what I always do to know the impact..

There are corrections in the note, if you scroll down to "correction instructions" for your release and you open it, there are 4 program changes displayed.
If you can apply the note via SNOTE and the program is still dumping I'd open an OSS call.

- Transaction SNOTE;
- click on the box "SAP NOTE download";
- enter the note number;
- after the download, the note will appear in the list below; if the note has a blue arrow as a mark, then it is applyable;
- double click on that arrow;
- follow the steps on the screen (which will guide you thru the process, creating a Change Request and so on);
that's it
EDIT: i forgot you must be allowed to apply notes, e.g. you should be a thrusted and authorized user.

I have to apply this note from SNOTE transaction code from 000 client. Do i have to make user in 000 client with having SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW profile.As we do during importing patches?

Directly i can do from DDIC user in 000 client.Should i have take some Prerequisite like all user be locked while applying SNOTE.

Problem when apply SAP Bundle Patch for 10.2.0.5

Hi,
We are trying to apply SAP Bundle Patch (SBP) SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip and SAP_102052_201103_SOL64.zip using MOPatch utility. Both MOPatch and OPatch utility have been updated with the latest download from SAP. When applying patch for SAP_102052_201102, most patches went through except for one patch that requires OPatch to be version 10.2.0.5.0. The OPatch version downloaded from SAP is 10.2.0.4.9. Even the OPatch delievered together in the SAP_102052_201102_SOL64.zip file is 10.2.0.4.9.
Below are extract of the opatch log file for this patch:

then
Oracle 10.2.0.5
then
OPatch
The file I can see there is generic for ALL operating systems and the name is:
OPatch_10205_Generic_v0.zip
it seems that the version is 10.2.0.5, not 10.2.0.4.9 as you mentioned.
I have downladed it and look at the README:
Patch summary:
README file for OPatch 10.2.0.5.0, the Oracle Interim Patching Tool.
I'm not installing it, but it seems that the version is not the same as yours.
Is this the one you have downloaded?
Have you installed it properly? => may be you are running an older one

Applying sap note

Dear all,
I want to apply a sap note 1105997 on my system. I have downloaded it in tcode snote. i have some queries in this regarding.
1. I should implement this note from client 000 or my 800 client.
2. In status, it is showing status *cannot be implemented*. What should i do?
3. Tel me the step by step procedure to implement it.
4. In future, when i will implement the support pack in which it is delivered, what will i have to do?

Here are you answers
1. You can apply the note in any client
2. That means that you can't implement the note either the note has been implemented with the support packs that you have done already or this is not valid for you version

Pls Go to service.sap.com/https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/notes ---> click on SAP note search under SAP Support portal,You will have to log in with a valid user id and password.
You can search notes by typing the SAP Note Number, download it & There will be instructions for applying notes.

Then they found this SAP Note and reviewing to apply this note, is there any harm??

No default workstation application TRM on applying SAP Note 1320374

Hello Gurus,
My question, as you can see in the title is that I'm trying to apply the SAP Note 1320374 and in the step B7 it sais that you have to go to this path,
IMG--> Cross-Apllication Components -->Document Management --> Control Data --> Define Document Types
and enter:
Default Application: TRM
Dis. WS Apllic. : TRM
and some more data.
And the question is that I don't have defined 'TRM' application in my system, so I've discovered that I can create that application by going in the spro to the path "Define Workstation Apllication" but i don't know the data I have to put on it.
I would appreciate if someone let me know what is the necessary data on that application.

Maybe if I put the full path where the Define Workstation Application is located, someone could check if has the entry TRM on it.

Applying SAP Notes using SNOTE

I have question regarding transaction SNOTE.
I am applying one note in my development system. This SAP note has some manual steps, like create function module in the given function group with the given short text.
If I follow the manual steps mentioned in the note, it ask for Access key while saving the changes.
How to work on the manual steps mentioned in SAP notes?

Hello Yogia,
It doesn't make any difference. Do it as the Note has Mentioned. If system ask for the access key then you can contact your BASIS people.
They will generate a Key for you.

Modification problems while applying SAP Note manually

Hi Guys,
I am facing some problems while applying a SAP note manually (it cannot be applied without manual changes).
There is one standard program which I am trying to change for this purpose, but it does not allow me to do so saying "Carry out modification comparison for REPS RPCT8AR1_01 first. No changes possible" !!
Now I can go to SPAU and reset the object, but it will lose all its changes which was done
by 2 SAP notes previously.
How can I apply my SAP Note without reverting the changes ? If I revert the changes, I lose
the changes for other 2 notes !!
Is there a solution for this? please help asap.

If you did not modified the program manually, you dont have to worry. implement your note from SNOTE transaction.
even if you loose previous modifications, you can always get them back by going SPAU transaction and import the transport numbers.
I had the same problem but we had manual changes to the program that is why didnt allow to implement note

Applying SAP NOTES

I am a Functional Consultant. I need an SAP Note to be applied to the system which most likely, basis team will do it for me. I just know the Note number. What kind of information do I need to give to the Basis Team .. just the SAP Note number would enough? Or would they need some other information.

The changes mentioned in the correction instructions of the Note are applied in your system If it relates to a change in a program, the source code gets modified accordingly.. if a new dictionary object like a table or a structure is added, the object gets created in your system.. this is usually tied to Transport request and moved from Dev to Qa to Prod as per the normal CTS process.. Occassionally, you might have to open the QA & Prod to apply the correction manually as SNOTE might not be applicable for all Notes.. but I found that to be very rare.. but quite possible..

if you have snote (tcode) you can directly apply the oss notes, otherwise you have to see the snote changes and apply manually.
if at all you are applying through snote, if there is a change in function module you have to do some manual things. please take care of it.

As suggested by others experts in the forum let fuctional maintain number range.
But I wil explain you how to install SNOTE.
Go to client 000 and use tcode SNOTE.
If your system is connected to OSS you can downlod the note directly from Market place in Tcode SNOTE.
OR
Download note from market place and upload with Snote Transaction.
While Applying System will popup for Trasport request Number, Note this trasport request number and after that release this note after that if you import the request in Quality and Production changes will get implemented.

Hi!
Download it, using SE38, enter program name - Display. Then Tools - More tools - Upload/download - Download - give filename and download it.
You can check the versions also, in SE38 - Tools - Versions.
