Outer frame is loosing coating

Hi,
I can't believe this is my second post regarding issues with a 2-week old Apple! I still remember the days we bought Apples and they were plug-and-play-and-get-happy.
Anyway, now the problem is happening to the externa case: the outer frame has a kind of coating and it just starte loosing it... I started as a 'white' bubble on the black frame, it got bigger, now it looks as if it will happen on the entire computer.
I take REALLY good care of my computer, more than a person should take (really, those are only machines and handling them like a baby is pretty non-sense, but that's how I handle mine). I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problems too?
I'm really thinking about returning this to Apple. First is the AirPort that doesn't behave well, now this case thing. I'm a Mac user for more than 10 years, but that doesn't make me stupid enough to pay for a product that *****. More and more I have the feeling that Apple is rushing into launching new things and quality is no longer their priority. Too bad, other companies will come, just as it happened on every other industry...

Can you post pictures somewhere and put a link in this thread? I've not noticed the macbooks having any particular kind of coating, and a white bubble on a blackbook would be odd indeed.

Corner of MacBook outer frame loose after repair. Take it back?

A few weeks ago, I took my MacBook in to an Apple store to get the top cover (the palm rest part) replaced because it was cracking. After I got it back and went home, I noticed that the right corner of the MacBook (where the IR sensor & sleep light) was loose when I put pressure against that corner -- it makes a popping sound.
Is there anything I could do? It's getting really annoying when you're typing stuff, you accidentally bump the corner, and it makes a popping sound. Should I take it back to the Apple Store?

Blocking out areas where UV coating will go in indesign

I have not done this in a million years so I know there has to be an easier way. I am doing a jewelry catalog and just want the jewelry items to have the additional UV coating.
I tried in illustrator doing a live trace but it has a white background so when I import into indesign the white background ruins it. Is there a way to get rid of the white background in illustrator?
Second thing I tried to block out the jewelry by selecting and filling with a solid color in photoshop then save as a psd. and import it to indeisgn but this has jagged edges.
How can I do this quickly without having to draw and trace with the pen tool in indesign.

Related to second issue:
1- Create a path in photosho
2- Place image into indesign, copy and paste into place then with image stile selected to Object menu>Clipping Path>Options, on the Type select Photoshop Path
3- With the image still select mouse right click select Convert Clipping Path to Frame
then select the content of the frame and deleted
4- Fill the frame with the spot Color and check Overprint Fill on Attributes panel

Premiere Pro freezes in render. Frame count looses sync with timeline.

I'm completely baffled by this. So I really hope yall can help. Here's what's going on.
I'm rendering a somewhat lenghty sequence (26min) in Permiere Pro CS6 that has much of the usual going on. (Color Correction, image tweeks, ect. - nothing fancy) I've finished this edit and wanted to export it to a ProRes file. Sent it to AME and hit render with my normal 1080p, quicktime, 29.975, prores settings and about 1 min into it the time shot straight out of the park. (I'm talking like 104+ hours at one point) I checked my settings and tried other export options, still acting wonky. I even tried removing all effects and export the normal sequence sans frills. Na Da. Then I thought, "You know what, maybe it's just a weird part and it'll pass through it." Nope. Left it going for about 13 hrs and it was moving so slow I thought it was frozen.
Here's where the odd discovery comes in. I decided to render the work area of my timeline in an attempt to narrow down the problem and bingo. When I started the render here I was able to view the frame count along with the video clip progression via the number and red line that becomes green. What I discovered is that in the first clip that's roughly 4 sec (should be about 120 frames) it regestered over 800 frames before it moved onto the next clip! The timeline does not reflect these phantom frames at all. However, the renderer sees the total number of frames for the sequence correctly at around 46,000 frames. It seems as though the frame/clip sync gets so far out of wack that the renderer gets exponentially lost. That would explain why the longer it works, the slower it becomes.
I'm really not sure what's happening. I feel really out of my depth here. lol Any help you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated!

Mark - thanks for your reply. Disabled GPU acceleration and try software mode. Started rendering but super slow and also lost all my previews.

Macbook Pro - late 2011
Processor - 2.5 GHz, Intel Core i7
Memory - 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3 (still have close to 4GB free)
Graphics - AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB
Software - OSX 10.9.1
I have one sequence (less than 5 minutes) with several backgrounds and one lower third .mov playing. I am using green and ultra keys.
Really appreciate your help. Everything worked fine until the latest Adobe Pr update. Was working fine even after update Mac software to Mavericks.

Problems With Saving Video in Lightroom 4. Blacked-out Frames

I have edited 145 clips for a video I'm putting together in LR4. After saving them, most of the clips have a few frames at the beginning blacked-out, or patchy black. I do not like this effect. Does anyone know how I might correct this? Thanks!

30 fps shot into 24 fps sequence w/out frame removal

I want to cut a 30 fps shot into my 24 fps sequence, but I don't want to lose any frames. Instead, I'm prepared to have the shot play at 80% speed (24/30 = .8). But I can't figure out how to do this. If I simply cut the shot into the sequence frames get lost. How would I go about this?

Well, that is a viable option for DVCPRO HD footage that is 59.94 that you want to convert to 23.98 slow motion. It transfers frame for frame and slows it down. But, because of the results you got, I think that might be behavior limited to DVCPRO HD.
Then I don't know what you can use. After Effects perhaps?

Removing Outer Frame

I dont actually have a problem, i was just thinking
is it possible to remove the frame that surronds the GUI
I mean the one with the minimize, maximise, close button and title bar at the top.
the reason im interested is because i was thinking of changing the shape of the widow (rectangles are boring) and that bar is only suitable for rectangles
i wasnt sure what catergory this came under so if i put it in the wrong one then im sorry, and i like the new forum look when was it changed?

I used this code snippet to change the image of my main window :

The java cup is gone but nothing displays.
Why doesn't the 123.jpg display?
Are there any restrictions concerning the picture?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

How many frames should I cut out each second to get a old film look?

What is the general rule of thumb (if their is one) of how many frames should be cut every second to achieve a choppy old film look? Or maybe it's not every second? What do you guys do?

you will get a more realistic look if you chop out frames manually
dump the playhead arbitrarily on the time line insert a cut nudge the playhead either i or 2 frames on and cut again discard the frames and either leave the black or butt the clips up for a "skip".
this really doesn't take long to do and is better than a predetermined sequence of chops made by a filter.
CGM do a free filter for aged film to add the hairs, navel lint, boogers etc . .

Outer table frame without grid lines

Howdy,
I have a form that is printing a variable size table that can span more than one page. I am attempting to create an outer frame around the table without grid lines in the middle.
There is a framed pattern, the one in the upper left hand corner of the patterns, that appears to fit my scenario. However, when I use this pattern, the outer frame appears, but there are also grid lines.
Is it possible to create an outerfram around a table without grid lines between the cells?

Goto Table Painter Settings, there you have tabs like Grid, Main Grid and so on...
By default, it would have selected the Display check box in Grid tab. Remove that check and goto Main Grid tab, and check the Display check box.

AMD/ATi with xf86-video-ati is glitching (random frame hang)

I've asked #archlinux about this multiple times to no avail. Also, I can't find anything on the Wiki about an issue like this.
Basically my computer hangs for around a 8th-4th second or so about every 20-40 seconds. The hang is visual only (i think), meaning no audio glitches or network glitches (that I'm aware of). I have a OpenGL test writing out frame rate, and during the hang the FPS consistently drops from 61 to 51. No CPU spikes are visible in the System Monitor, so my guess is that it's video driver related.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I have an overclocked ATi graphics card (specs below) so I'm thinking that's probably related to the issue. Any help is very welcome.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 920
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 4870 (O.C.) 512Mb
RAM: 8Gb Kingston
ps. I've tried many different combinations of Cool'n'Quite + cpufrequtils with no luck. ACPID 2.0 is disabled in the bios.
[EDIT] also, I would get the Catalyst drivers if they worked with Xorg 1.12, but I'd rather have Gnome Shell than Catalyst drivers ATM.

Save as template ingores in and out points

I'm a new user to Motion, but not to FCP (took a bit of a break between FCP4 and the recently released FCP Studio).
Anyhow, I'm working on a project in Motion where the in frame is set to 300, and the out frame is set to 600, and the project 900 frames. When I choose File>Save As Template, the quicktime preview and FCP clip show 900 frames.
Is there a way around this? Do I need to submit a bug report, or is this normal behavior?

Can anyone else even confirm this? Would anyone else consider this a bug?
