Outgoing email port settings

I am having trouble sending email throught my insightbb account via my iPhone as it keeps telling me to check my outgoing server settings. Insight tells me that it is because the outgoing server port must be set to 460, however I cannot find any way to edit the port settings on the account. Any ideas?

Not sure this falls into same message category, but hope you can help. I can't set up two mail accounts.
I have attempted to set up two Mail Accounts so that I have two different smtp out going options. At home I use smtp.west.cox.net which worked no matter where I was located outside my home, including in San Francisco when I purchased the phone, until last Thursday when my outbound emails stop sending when located away from home. The cox.net still works while I'm in range of my wireless server at home.
Problem 1: No matter what attitional account i attempt to set up last, it replaces whatever account is already set up with the new server info and the account name as well.
iPhone support told me to set up the account - smtp1.attglobal.net - to use when I'm away from home to solve the problem. It didn't work. And replaced my cox.net account on the iPhone.
Genius bar told me to set up cwmx.com. And it replaced my cox.net account on the iPhone. It didn't even work in their store.
Problem 2: After a combined 2.5 hours, the Genius bar finally told to set up another email account on Yahoo so I'd have different settings.
I now have no confidence in iPhone support or the Genius bar as the answer was more of an 'I don't know try this', than 'this is the solution.' Is there a solution that doesn't involved setting up yet another email account with another provider?

  • Lumia 800 outgoing email server settings

    Hello,
I need to set my outgoing work email (SMTP) server port number to 587 and connection security to TLS. However, I can't see an option to set either the port number nor the security to TLS. SSL security can be turned on/off, but no mention of TLS.
I have read elsewhere that setting the server name as <server name> : <port number> can be used (that is, using a colon to separate the server name from the port number), but still this does not allow for selecting TLS security.
My incoming email, IMAP, works fine, so my connection/username/password etc. should all be fine.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't know if this is actually the case but according to Google. They use port 587 on their SMTP for TLS connections and port 465 for SSL. I created the following using port 587 and was able to send an email.....
Advanced Email Configuration (relevant info only)
    Outgoing (SMTP) email server: smtp.gmail.com:587
outgoing server requires authentication: (Checked On)
Require SSL for outgoing email: (Checked On)

  • Configuring a home server to send outgoing email (Port 25 outbound blocked)

    Hello,
I am trying to set up a home email server on my Verizon DSL connection, but I believe port 25 outbound is blocked.  How do I fix this problem?  Do I need to configure my home email server to connect to outgoing.verizon.net on port 587?  If so, will I need to use Verizon login credentials to establish that connection?
Just to clarify - I am trying to set up a home email SERVER, not an email client.  I am using Postfix as my MTA and need it to be able to connect to another MTA (perhaps outgoing.verizon.net?) so that it can transfer emails from my server to the outside world.
If this is not the way to correct the problem I'm having, can you please let me know how?  Thanks.
    -allmessedup

25 is blocked across most servers these days.  Verizon only allows it within there network to their mail SMTP server.
In general mail servers no longer use smtp but ESMTP
Recommended for ESMTP is using 465 which also requires setting ssl security on.  And incoming as 995 and ssl.  Or using 587 and 110.

  • Shunting eMail Ports

    Hi folks.
I have a unique situation which I know can be solved by some port settings of some sort. First, I explain.
I am running my own mail server here at my office. It is Leopard Server.
When I am out about on the town, I use wireless gateways. They are tied into either a cable ISP or a DSL ISP. Only a handful of DSL ISPs allow all ports to be open. By practice the main DSL and Cable providers (there is 1 cable and 1 master DSL provider, which resell to other companies) close their outgoing email ports and force people to use their ports. I don't want my mail to be going through their servers, and I don't want to configure my iPod nor laptop to use their servers.
How can I get into my SMTP server? I have an Extreme, and I run my own ports, so I can re-configure some kind of port structure to listen to email coming into my fixed IP from the outside. I have to use a fixed IP in my laptop and iPod mail clients, as they mess up my domain for some reason, so it goes deaf.
This is what I am thinking:
    1. Set the incoming mail port on the server to the normal ports
    2. The AE should listen in on port 1500 (or similar) then bring that to the normal internal port set on the server (25)
    Will this work?
In Server Admin, this would have a public port of 1500 and a private port of 25? Is that how it works?
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers

What port are you trying to use outbound?
VZ blocks port 25 outbound on residential accounts.
    No ports are blocked inbound.

  • I have just set up a new email host. The settings seem simple until i get to outgoing mail port. I don't find a place for that. Advice on Apple support says to click to continue, but there is no click to click. Any help?

In mail settings, how do I find the window or box to insert the outgoing mail port designation?

I am on 10.7, so Mail interface may look a bit different, but here a couple of screenshots - on the (Preferences) accounts page, look at the bottom for outgoing mail server and then choose Edit:
    In the resulting window:
enter the information needed; also click on Advanced and enter any info/port numbers given to you (unless it does it automatically).

  • Configuring outgoing email on premise other than port 25 in SharePoint 2013

    hello,
I tried everything to get email alerts, but emails are not coming. I tried changing port number in IIS6 . I followed and saw many different articles on net to configure outgoing email settings. I followed the article here in the link "http://www.delphi-ts.com/blogs/lozzi/post/2011/02/09/Sending-SharePoint-emails-through-alternate-ports.aspx"
, still emails are not coming. What am I missing here?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to configure outgoing email on premise other than port 25 in SharePoint 2013.
As the article said, there wasn't a way for SharePoint to select the outgoing port.
The workaround is to send Emails to SharePoint Server OS itself over port 25, and then Windows server  SMTP in turn route the Emails to Microsoft online over port 587.
For more information, you can refer to:

  • My outgoing email suddenly quit working.  Settings are correct, but says server unable to send. Can receive fine.  This happened on both Iphone

My outgoing email suddendly stopped working.  Happened first on my IPhone, msgs were stuck in outbox.  This self-corrected, and now my Mac Pro will not send email.  It says server not able to send, but I can receive fine.  No changes were made.  Settings are correct.  Any ideas what's wrong?

OK, I thought you'd like to know that I figured it out!   Yea.
I reasoned since my iphone is now sending, I would check to see if the exact same settings in the advanced mail area were the same.
The port on my phone was 110, but in advanced mail area on the mac it was 995/SSL.
I clicked on that and it defaulted to 110.
But what is strange is the 110 port is supposed to be for incoming mail (which I was getting fine even tho it had the 995 port) and the smtp outgoing I thought was a defaulted 25 port.
Anyway, when I changed the mac to the 110 port in advanced area, the mail in outbox was immediately sent.
I have absolutely no idea how the port server was changed to 995 SSL on the mac, since no one but myself uses this computer and I certainly didn't change it.  Also, it doesn't at all explain the iphone doing the exact same thing a week ago, even tho that port said 110 when I checked.  Very strange indeed, but thanks for the help anyone who is reading this and I hope this helps anyone else having a similar problem....

  • Why does the port settings on my iPad change every time I sync with my computer. After syncing I have to go in and change the port settings so I can send and receive emails on my iPad.

Every time iSync my iPad 2 with my computer it changes the port settings. Has anyone else had this issue?

When you sync the iPad, do you have mail settings configured to sync to the iPad? You could have different settings on your computer that might be affecting the email set up on the iPad when you sync.

  • The email message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing email settings for the server are configured properly

i have an issue when loading a workflow. it gives me a following error "The email message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing email settings for the server are configured properly". it doesnt send me any alerts and worlflow fails at the end
    with the above error message.

    Hi,
I agree with Bistesh. But after Outgoing e-mail settings are configured properly, if the issue still exists,
It may result from your Anti-Virus. Please refer to the following steps:
Open MCAfee Console and go to Access Protection window.
Click Anti-Virus Standard Protection and edit “prevent mass mailing
    worms from sending emails” rule.
Now we need to know which processes are being blocked therefore we need to check the MCAfee Log located at
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\McAfee\DesktopProtection\AccessProtectionLog.txt
you may find entries of DtExec , DtExecUI and DatabaseMail90, now these processes need to be entered in the exclusion list of selected rule .
Reset the IIS And SharePoint Timer service to check if this works for you.

  • N70 email client - imap port settings?

Hey - how do I configure the N70 email client to use SSL with port 25 for SMTP outgoing and port 993 for IMAP incoming?
Looks like I can only configure SSL if I use ports 993 and 995. but my mail server uses port 25 for outgoing mail (like, most mail servers.. ?) which means I can't send mail, only receive it..?
    Any ideas gratefully received.

Have you opened ports 25 and 110 in the firewall?
System Preferences > Sharing > Firewall > New
and then where it gives a port name, select other. You would do this twice (two ports).

  • Outgoing Emails fails after Port 25 blocked by email administrator

Hi, our email team administrator has blocked the port 25 and restricted user to use SSL port 465 instead. The share point SMTP email setup page only shows TLS encryption check box (no ssl encryption check box available)
Is this a limitation on share point 2010 that only TLS encryption available? Please kindly advice.
    Thank you.

    Hi Layman,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to configure the SMTP to use port 465 for outgoing email in SharePoint.
Per my knowledge, Exchange server will secure communication over any port, but will not use SSL, so there is only TLS encryption in SMTP.
To use port 465, we can add the port 465 under Network tab to the Receiver Connector for SharePoint Outgoing email. And then TCP port number on Outbound Connections in
    DSMTP Virtual Server properties.
