Outgoing Mail not working via personal hotspot

Hi, I am using an iPhone 5 to tether from my macbook pro. Mail works fine when connected to wifi but when I tether via the personal hotspot it fails to send emails. My provider is Three and I have tethered via a friend's iphone 5S also with Three and it works fine. Any clues?

Who is the email account provider?
Sounds like the email account provider doesn't have an authenticated SMTP server or if they do, you aren't using it.
All email received and sent with a Blackberry is routed through RIM's dedicated email delivery service so not the same. Completely different from a Blackberry, the iPhone's Mail app communicates direct with the incoming and outgoing mail servers for an email account just as is done with an email client on your Mac or with an email client on a PC.

My outgoing mail server SMTP does not work now that I have updated my OS to Yosemite. I have checked all passwords and setting to be the same as they were in Maverick but no luck. I have tried to delete my mail account and start over but still no luck.

Here is a screen shot of the connection Doctor. Incoming emails work.

  • Bellsouth outgoing mail not working

I am having trouble making my ITouch accept the Outgoing Setting on the Server Port. I followed the link that someone had posted earlier and tried all of those suggestions. The person said that it took him a while to get his touch to accept no port setting. Mine keeps putting in the number, 587.
Can anyone possibly help me with this? I can receive mail, I just cannot send any.
    Thanks!

  • Mac mail outgoing mail not working with wildblue gmail account

My outgoing mail keeps saying offline. Cannot connect on the default ports. Tried changing ports, with and without SSL. Anybody have any solution?

I've recreated the account multiple times and finally have mail coming through under an "All Mail" label under "Gmail" on the left hand side of the application. The one thing I did do differently was uncheck the SSL box in advanced settings, save changes, recheck the SSL box, save changes. Mail started working after that.
Before this problem existed, I had [Gmail] in the "imap prefix" box in advanced settings in order to get rid of the gmail labels. I did this because I only wanted the Inbox and Sent Items to show in the far left. Right now, i'm only able to view my mail under an all mail folder beneath a Gmail Folder on the left had side. Can I get rid of all these folders and simply use my inbox and sent items icons?
    Thanks,
    Ryan
    Thanks in advance.

  • Outgoing Mail not working with Mail.app in 10.5.7

I am helping my mom set up her email accounts on her new macbook laptop. It has 10.5.7
I have tried setting up two different email accounts in mail.app, one is a roadrunner webmail account, and the other is a gmail account. For the roadrunner account, I followed their instructions, which can be seen here: http://help.rr.com/HMSFaqs/eOSXmail.aspx
With the gmail account, mail.app was able to do the setup itself from the email address and password.
I know that the account information is partially correct because with both the accounts they were able to correctly download email onto the computer into mail.app. But both accounts have not been able to successfully send an email.
I can provide any other information about the settings used in the outgoing server or advanced information if it would be helpful.

This is so strange. The exact same thing happened to me yesterday. Suddenly, on my Mac and my PC, I was no longer able to SEND email. I am able to receive email...just not send. I too am a Comcast customer. I contacted Comcast and they, of course, said the problem had to do with the servers that my email client is trying to access and that it had nothing to do with them. We then set up my Comcast.net email account (which I never use) and it worked fine (sending and receiving).
So, I switched my other accounts to use Comcast's smtp server and that worked on the Mac only. I can now send email on my Mac but not on my PC.
This leads me to believe that it is not something wrong with my email client (since I have the problem on both my Mac and PC) but instead, something is up with Comcast.
I checked and it turns out that Comcast just implemented a new Acceptable Use Policy which specifically implements a NEW traffic management policy. This was JUST implemented this month. So, I am getting the sneaking suspicion that Comcast is somehow denying me access to those SMTP servers and I have to use their SMTP server instead.
Does this make any sense to anyone???? I am at a total loss here.
    Thanks,
    Susan

  • OUTGOING MAIL NOT WORKING IN OUTLOOK EXPRESS AGAIN

This verizon email system is horrible. Right now I have not changed any of my settings but for some reason verizon yahoo email has decided not to send out any of my outgoing email settings.
My outgoing STMP is set at: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
    port: 25
I have the the correct username and password.  If I go onto yahoo verizon from my browser it will let me send mail.
It just decided to stop working with Outlook Express today.  Seems like once a month there is some kind of problem with this verizon crap.

Just to make sure, check to see if these settings are the same in outlook express
Incoming server  =  incoming.verizion.net (or incoming.yahoo.verizon.net if you have the yahoo portal partner)
Outgoing server  =  outgoing.verizon.net (outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net with yahoo partner)
do not check the "use SSL" check box
Make sure that your username does not have the @verizon.net  extention.
make sure that your password is correct
Make sure that you check the box in more settings that says "my outgoing server requires authentication" and put a dot in the radial button that says "use the same settings as my incoming server"
check the advanced settings and make sure that the outgoing port number is port 587
Make sure that none of the "SSL" check boxes are checked.
if all that is correct it should be working

  • Outgoing Mail Not Working

Edited SMTE lists and passwords all to no avail. Connection Doctor is good to go, yet no results.

    Hi,
in Mail -> Preferences -> Advanced -> SSL
Make sure the smtp server you are trying to contact is running SSL on port 993 or if it is not, then this box should be unchecked.

  • TS1559 Wi-Fi Setting Grayed Out, Bluetooth not working and personal hotspot not working..

I have tried everything to fix the wifi dimed switch has anyone actually found a resolution, I'm not trying that stupid freezer or hair drying trick because thats just stupid....

You most likely have a failure of the WiFi chip.
Restore the phone as a new device.  If that doesn't solve your problem, you'll have to bring your phone to Apple for replacement.  If you are not within the warranty period, expect to pay $199 for out of warranty replacement.

  • Outgoing mail not working for iphone and Microsoft Outlook

I am a realtor and I just recently started using Microsoft Outlook as I was told that was the best for contact management. I was using Yahoo. Now I can receive but I CANNOT SEND. If I try it says "The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.pamelainhawaii.com" failed" I have tried changing the Server Port to 465, 110 etc and turning the SSL on and off and it doesn't seem to sense my email address which is my website. I did sign up for Yahoo Plus so it would connect my yahoo address with my Outlook one.....Can anyone help me?

    Pamelainhawaii,
Who do you pay to to host your email?
Outlook is an email client, it isn't the server, it is how you retrieve your email.
Look at your email like a PO Box, in which case the Post Office "hosts" the PO box.
Your email client is what you use to get to the server, kind of like your car might be how you drive down to the post office.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Personal hotspot working via BlueTooth but NOT working via wi-fi

    Hi,
Would appreciate some help with this! Using an iPhone 4, just upgraded to iOS 4.3, and trying to get personal hotspot working.
Basically, see subject ^ .. I can't get it working. Devices (I've tried iMac, iPad) can see the wireless network created by the iPhone, begins to connect (and appearing connected, from the iPhone) but isn't actually online. Though, I was able to pair my computer and phone and create a network connection via personal hotspot that way. But I want to use wifi, and let others use it...
I'm on Bell Mobility in Canada. Any help greatly appreciated!
    Chris

  • Connect iPad2 to iPhone 4s via Personal Hotspot but internet on iPad2 does not work.

    Hi,
I have some problem...It just does not work today. Before I could use internet on my iPad2 after connecting via Personal Hotspot to my iPhone4s.
Please help or give any advise..
    Thanks..

But did they have access to my phone during the time I was in the cinema and during which time someone's "Personal hotspot" appeared on my phone under "Settings"?
And how did my "Cellular (Mobile) Network settings" were just gone after that episode, so that I had to go to my providers website to look for them and enter them again?

  • Personal Hotspot on iPhone 4s not working via USB cable

In the last couple of weeks, I have not been able to use the Personal Hotspot on my iPhone 4s via the USB/sync cable to either of two 2011 Macs, both running the latest version of Lion, with all relevant software updated, including Flashback removal & Java updates. The connection via Bluetooth & wi-fi is unaffected.
Opening the Network System Preference pane, the connection is shown as iPhone USB, but it is not connected, even with all other internet access methods either deactivated or disconnected.
This issue is related to Lion, as the G4 & G5 PPC Macs running 10.5.8 which I either use or administer are not affected by this problem. The iPhone is running on iOS 5.1 and is not jailbroken.
Is it possible that the Flashback/Java issues and Apple's interpretation of their prevention/removal has affected this aspect of internet access via Personal Hotspot?

Hey, where did that "I have this problem too" link come from?
