Outgoing mail rejected as spam?

I attempted to send a message this morning and it was rejected with the following:
Diagnostic-code: smtp;550 5.7.1 Message rejected as spam by Content Filtering.
I figured there was some sort of mistake somewhere so I tried resending the message. Same result. How come iCloud is rejecting my outgoing messages as spam?

Great, more help desk idiots! There are no Thunderbird servers. Thunderbird is software that runs on YOUR computer and connects to your email providers server. The message would be from THEIR server.

  • Outgoing mail flagged as spam with iCloud

Ever since I switched to iCloud, my employer has been unable to retrieve my e-mails without searching her trash folder. This has happened to several other people I've tried to contact. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Why is this happening, Apple?

  • HT204187 outgoing mail rejects password on one computer but not the other

The mail program says the outgoing mail password is incorrect on wife's desktop computer, but mail works from her iPad.

I, too, have the same problems as listed above. I have changed my password in my mail account several times. Each time my iPhone and iPad accept the new password and is able to send/receive mail. My macbookPro rejects it each time. I have tried deleting it from keychain...still did not fix the problem. Any other suggestions?

  • Outgoing Mail Rejected

I have only had my MacPro for about a month and I set up my cox account through Mail. Everything worked and was great and than all of a sudden yesterday it stopped sending outgoing mail by stating:
The sender address xxxxx@xxx was rejected by the server smtp.west.cox.net.
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.
I haven't changed anything and can't figure out what is going on.

I have the same problem...I am Cox East and the problem lies with Cox. I use Microsoft Entourage on my early 09 Macbook Pro and it doesn't allow me to use the specific SMTP authentication required, but if you use Mail, it should work fine. The problem has to do with Cox not allowing you to send email from a non-Cox ip address. The link gives you the settings to set up SMTP authentication. If I am on a non-Cox network, I just use webmail. Hope this helps.

  • Why is outgoing mail rejected by the Exchange server?

    Hi all.
One in every 10 emails sent via Mavericks Mail is being rejected by my Exchange server. It's more like one in two emails with attachments. Shutting down Mail and re-opening doesn't help. Eventually I get the rejection window and list of servers: when I click the one I'm already trying to use, it sends! I'm presuming this is a bug, or something's changed in the way Mavericks Mail deals with Exchange because nothing else has been altered.
    Yours,
    Aidan

  • Outgoing Mail rejected by Server?

I am having issues with sending out E-Mails and I am receiving a message - (A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The sender address -------------- was rejected by the server.)
Hi there! - Please note that this issue has been resolved. Thanks anyway!
I had the SSL "On" by mistake somehow?
    Cheers! Steve Lee.

Who is your internet service provider used for connecting to the internet?
Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP with the Mail.app and if so, are you able to send messages with this account?
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below for the .Mac SMTP server.
What are your settings for the .Mac SMTP server including the SMTP server address?

  • Outgoing mail classified as SPAM...

    Hi,
I was just wanting to get some feedback from you all about how to reduce the chance that mail sent from your server is classified as SPAM, specifically with Yahoo!
I currently have valid reverse DNS, I'm not on any blacklists, I sign my messages with DomainKeys (all of which pass in the headers), I have SPF records in my DNS, and I've disabled being an open relay, yet mail that I send to Yahoo! is still classified as SPAM.
Do any of you have recommendations to fix this? I've forwarded some mail headers to Yahoo! and asked them to specifically let me know why they've flagged my mail as spam, but I don't expect to hear back from then anytime soon...

    Yahoo is notorious for this.
If you are not on an RBL, use SPF and DKIM/DomainKeys, have proper DNS A,MX and PTR records there isn't really much you can do.
Try and get whitelisted by them. It usually takes persistence, but can be done.

  • Outgoing mail blocked as spam -- Potential Solution

I've been having issues sending mail to verizon.net accounts. I am using Windows Live Mail. I've noticed others on the forums having issues as well.  Just wanted to post a possible solution.
I changed my port setting from 25 to 587. At this point, emails that were previously blocked are now going through without issue. Not sure if this is "the" solution. Will post back after ~ 24 hr. trial period.

  • One mail client's outgoing messages flagged as SPAM

    Hi again,
I have a new problem that has cropped up. Our company is multi-location. 8 of our locations are able to relay outgoing mail through our mail server with no problems whatsoever. Since upgrading clamav, amavisd-new and spamassassin (thanks topicdesk.com!), I have one remote client for whom every outgoing message is flagged as Spam by spamassassin and bounced. Here is the output from our mail server:
    Content type: Spam
Internal reference code for the message is 05499-02/NFMMwedgHcWi
First upstream SMTP client IP address: [xx.xxx.xxx.153]
    adsl-xx-xxx-xxx-153.dsl.lgtpmi.sbcglobal.net
According to a 'Received:' trace, the message apparently originated at:
    [xx.xxx.xxx.153], adsl-xx-xxx-xxx-153.dsl.lgtpmi.sbcglobal.net
    adsl-xx-xxx-xxx-153.dsl.lgtpmi.sbcglobal.net [xx.xxx.xxx.153]

The only major difference in this location is that it's running a new Intel iMac with Snow Leopard. All the other clients are PPC's with Leopard.

As it turns out, the problem was with the router configuration. Instead of having the computer on a private network behind the router, the computer was given the public IP address. I'm not sure how this relates to how the message and its header are interpreted by spamassassin, but reconfiguring the network and using NAT to allow incoming traffic to the computer seems to have resolved the problem.
I would love for someone who knows about this stuff to respond, although technically my problem is resolved.

  • Outgoing server rejects password; can't send mail

Today, for no apparent reason, I can't send out any mail. No hardware, no software changes. (I'm use Mail 2.0.7 with my iMac G5.)
When I try to send mail I get this message: "The SMTP server “outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net” rejected the password for user “carolbenham”
My provider — Verizon DSL — took me through their process and the password I'm entering is correct and works for both signing in, sending and receiving e-mail on my their web page e-mail. It ONLY doesn't work with Mac's Mail program. Only Mac's Mail program says the correct password is rejected.
    Idea anybody? I'm desperate!

Thanks Simon. I'm keeping that fix in mind for next time. For no reason whatsoever, Mail.app stopped asking me for a password (and then rejecting it) after the computer had been unused and asleep for a couple of hours. It sent all the outgoing mail automatically as soon as I launched the program.
    Too strange!

  • Mail server rejected message: spam or virus detected (#5.3.0)

    Hi everybody,
for the first time ever I got this funny message:
mail server rejected message: spam or virus detected (#5.3.0)
This happens now with e-mails containing a pdf which I a) have already sent before and b) created on the mac. Checked with another pdf just for testing - same effect. Any other documents work fine - just those pdfs don't work anymore.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bettina

    Bettina,
There is the possibility of the MS Office and Word being infected (but not the Mac overall) with what are called micro-viri, and are cross-platform. Many AV filters will catch those. I am providing a link where some of us discussed this MS Office infection:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2782109&#2782109
Let us know what you find? See also:
    http://outlandishjosh.com/wp/index.php?p=861
which you will see in that topic linked above.
I have not confirmed the path you chose to create the PDF will transmit this virus, but this must be checked out, and is probably the source of the message you are getting.

  • I changed my e-mail address a few months ago everything was ok. Starting monday my outgoing mail can not be sent, it says the server rejected my e-mail address. Why ? I can receive mail but not send it

My outgoing mail gets rejected. I can get mail but not send it.It was working for about 6 months.

If the smtp is rejecting your password you should go in.
    Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
Select your Yahoo account in the sidebar on the left.
In account information tab you will see : " Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) "
Click on it and choose edit SMTP server list.
Select Yahoo and click on the advanced tab.
Now fill your new Yahoo password.
    Hope it's help.
