Outgoing Mail - sending to server failed

A few computers in my office have had periodic trouble sending mail. This is the error message:
*Message delivery failed.*
The server response was: Temporary local problem - please try later
You can try to send using a different server…
I've researched this a little and found suggestions to send on different ports or change the MTU from 1500 to 1492. I haven't tried this yet, because the problem is not consistent. It only effects 2 of 11 employees on the same network, and those 2 employees only get the error periodically. I am stumped. If the server response is "Temporary local problem" does that mean the problem is with our ISP or the machine?

According to the error message, the problem is local to the server and temporary, so it should be no surprise that it happens sometimes only. Do all the users send through the same outgoing server?

Updated to ios 7 cannot get mail the connection server failed

I updated to ios 7 yesterday and today I keep getting "cannot get mail the connection server failed". Also the safari gets stuck or takes awhile to load the page

Was there ever a response/solution to this? There's plenty of occasions where this seems to have happened but this thread is exactly what's happening to me. I am currently in Spain and trying to use Yahoo mail.
My mail is updating occasionally but if i try to force an update i get "cannot get mail...the connection to the server failed". Also if i try to send and email i get "a copy has been placed in your outbox....the connection to the outgoing server apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com failed...additional servers can....."
I checked my mail settings and the defined server isn't prefixed with "apple".

Cannot get maile connection to server failed

followed the instructions for icloud set up in apple support for ipad and iphone even deleted the account and then set the account up with the correct ID and password. I do use a different ID than my apple ID for my icloud account. I use my me.com email address. I can get into the cloud on my pc and I can send and recieve email when I log into my icloud account but this fails to work on my ipad and iphone. Attempts to seen or get email on these devices when on a wifi network end up with the message "cannot get mail connection to server failed"

Mail connection to server failed

On both my iphone 5 and ipad 2 retina I'm having trouble accessing my mail. It says that connection to server failed. I've done research and I have deleted my yahoo account in my mail settings but unfortunately I can't even re-put my info in because there is still a "connection fail". I am so frustrated! I had my email a few days ago and all of a sudden I cannot access it. I have rebooted my devices several times and even closed all my apps including the mail app. Now since I can't even get my yahoo account verified in mail settings I am stuck at a dead end. Please help me!

My Yahoo mail connection to server failed. I deleted my Yahoo account in my iphone 5s and re-entered details, switch on/off to the phone /turn air plane mode on and off and all these doesn't work. However I found a solution when I googled "Fix problems with yahoo Mail in IOS Mail" and finally do the manual action to add Yahoo Mail to IOS Mail. Below is the instructions given as follows:
If you're unable to add your account to your device using the iOS Mail Wizard (steps above), you can manually enter the Yahoo Mail server info to add your account.
Remove your Yahoo Mail account.
Tap Settings | Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap Add Account | Other | Add Mail Account.
Enter your name, email address, email password, and a description, then tap Next.
Select IMAP, enter the Yahoo Mail IMAP settings, then tap Next.
Set "Mail" to On, then tap Save.
Note: To fulfill the 5th step, click on Apple support page https://www.apple.com/support/mail-settings-lookup/ for Mail Setting Look up. Type your email address and all information of incoming and outgoing server details are available for you to enter the Yahoo Mail IMAP settings. I hope this helps..... Cheerios

Error message when sending mail : sending the message failed because you have exceeeded your sending limit"

I was trying to email a link from a webpage I loaded in safari. The email sits in my outbox with a red exclamation point. WIll not send. Keeping getting an error message sending the message failed because you have exceeded your sending limit

"I keep getting a "you have exceeded your limit" on my email."
No explanation, makes no sense, it's happening with others.
I have to change (in my outgoing/unsent folder) my sending address from .mac to me.com. After reading the following helpful post:
To get outbox individual mails sent, Try going to outbox, opening each email to edit and change sending email to [email protected] by clicking arrow in from line. If [email protected] account does not show, go to settings > mail > icloud account > add "[email protected]" And, until this issue is resolved, set mail to send from [email protected]
(and you should be using smtp.mail.me.com)

the yahoo works fine
the hotmail keeps saying " connection to server failed"
ay ideas why?
Ive shut off and restarted phone
deleted and re added e mail account
checked my mail on computer and it worked fine...

Mail Sender - charset detection failed

All,
my scenario is:
mail sender, xml file attached to send mail (by useing adapter module, attached xml is used as message body). message is transferred to R/3 via ABAP proxy receiver.
while test, i got the following ERR msg:
"......charset detection failed".
how can i determine required charset (and what charset should be used)?
note:
i far as i know, i can not predict what would be the charset used by the sender.
the attached xml is generated by Adobe Interactive Form - can the charset be determine by the adobe?

Use UTF-8 for ABAP proxy.
Change the charset inside your adapter module.

I rec'd yellowish admail, I can't delete it, I can send but not receive email. "Cannot Get Mail,connection to server failed". This is on Wi Fi from my lap top which has no problems?

The adware comes in on my sub account (almost hourly), it is always on top of my Inbox. It's funny I can send and receive from my sub account, just not my main account.
I am able to get Safari. I see one previous suggestion to delete account, but I'm afraid I would then lose my email address. I tried on another wi fi and still had the same problems. I also saw it may be a password problem, but if that is so how do I get Safari? I also rebooted. Any suggestions?

If you delete your mail account from your iPad you won't lose your address. I've deleted and re-added my mail account several times.
It'd be the same as.....I have a favorites list for a website. I can delete that favorites list, but the website is still out there. I just need to retype the address. Same thing with the mail.
The worst that'll happen is that you'll have to redownload your mail onto your iPad.
Who is your mail provider? Are you accessing it via their app (for example the yahoo app) or are you accessing it via safari or via the iPad's mail app?

Cannot Get Mail Connection to Server Failed

Ok, I am not a very good with setting things up but I have the itouch 16GB, I have managed to set up my email and am receiving new ones but I can not connect when I am away from my home, everytime I try to connect I get the following message, *Cannot get mail,The connection to the server "pop3.live.com" failed.* Can anyone help as to what I have done wrong or what I need to do to make this work. You need a good WiFi connection first. You can get a WiFi signal, tell your touch to connect to the network (which it does) and still not be able to do anything - like check e-mail.
I've noticed that a lot of free hotspots here in the States make you go through a web page to "log on" to their networks. Even if it is free, you still have to go through this system.
Next time this happens, open Safari and touch one of your bookmarked pages. Chances are the network log on screen will pop up. Do whatever it asks, and that network will release your log on to begin working.

Outgoing Mail rejected by Server?

Who is your internet service provider used for connecting to the internet?
Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP with the Mail.app and if so, are you able to send messages with this account?

What are your settings for the .Mac SMTP server including the SMTP server address?

Iphone 5 won't allow outgoing mail via smtp server

i've been wrestling this for hours. talked w/ server tech. everything is as needs to be. keep getting rejected by server messages no matter who it's addressed to. seems like a very expensive phone to not be able to send email.

Try removing the mail account. Then reset the phone by holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, add the account back. You said the problem is sending mail, so make sure all of the settings for the SMTP server are set before trying to send a message again.

Is the smtp server on my iis server is enough to send mails from sharepoint (alerts for example)
or does the smtp only relay the mail to exchange or other mail provider ?
If my site is open to the internet and some of my users updated their mail adress in their profile with a Gmail adress, Will they get the sharepoint alert
to their Gmail account ?

So i'm trying to alert on a document change for a user with a gmail address on is SharePoint profile and the mail is not showing on is Gmail Inbox.
I checked the smtp logs on the server and as far as i can tell the request is successful.
What can be the reason.

Gmail: Can't get mail? POP server failed?

My Yahoo mail comes up perfectly on my iPhone. My Gmail account searches for incoming mail but times out with the message, "Cannot Get Mail...The connection to the server "pop.gmail.com" failed." Now according to Apple this is self installing with just a few clicks for both Yahoo and Gmail. I don't even see a place to enter "pop" or "imap" settings?

The new download is in iTunes just connect your iPhone and hit check for updates...
Also with the new one gmail automatically sets up as IMAP

Mail sends after server reboot

I have a problem from time to time were my email I generate
and send in a scheduled task will not send. I get no errors in the
log and when I reboot the server the messages get sent. What can
cause this and is there anyway to make ColdFusion send the email
without rebooting the server? I am using ColdFusion 7.

Check the Mail folder under the CF root folder. Look in the
spool and undelivr folders. There may be a clue.
Also, you can turn on logging of each message in the CF
admin. That might help pinpoint the problem.
Have your mail server administrator check any SMTP logs for
errors or delays.
