Outgoing Mail stucks in queue
Hello,
We have an issue where outgoing mails for specific only domains are stuck in queue (Snow Leopard Server 10.6.8)
Here is the SMTP logs for those specific messages:
Aug 30 13:42:51 mail postfix/smtp[2230]: 9D3C2B6A007: to=<[email protected]>, relay=mailgate2.DOMAIN.gr[194.x.x.x]:25, delay=350529, delays=350385/0.05/145/0, dsn=4.4.2, status=deferred (lost connection with mailgate2.DOMAIN.gr[194.x.x.x] while receiving the initial server greeting)
Aug 30 13:42:51 mail postfix/smtp[2230]: 9D3C2B6A007: to=<[email protected]>, relay=mailgate2.DOMAIN.gr[194.x.x.x]:25, delay=350529, delays=350385/0.05/145/0, dsn=4.4.2, status=deferred (lost connection with mailgate2.DOMAIN.gr[194.x.x.x] while receiving the initial server greeting)
I have disabled ClamAV and Spam. I have tried to release the queue again using postsuper, but no luck.
Messages stuck in queue.
Any help will be appreciated.
Best regards
Kostas
Thanks. I have used mxtoolbox.com to check for blacklisting. It reports this:
NOMOREFUNN
LISTED
Dynamic IP or generic rDNS. Use your ISPs mail service, or whitelist at: Detail 1177421238
Return codes were: 127.0.0.3
1927
62
UCEPROTECTL3
LISTED
Your ISP FORTHNET-GR FORTHnet/AS1241 is UCEPROTECT-Level3 listed for hosting a total of 1334 abusers. See: Detail
Return codes were: 127.0.0.2
But nomorefunn indicates that the blacklisted IP is a result of blocking the whole ISP subnet.
I asked for a whitelisting from nomorefunn, but in uceprotectl3 does not have that option.
What else should I do?
Regards
Kostas

Tiger Server Outgoing Mail Stuck In Queue
We are running Tiger Server 10.4.7 at our small school. All our incoming mail is suspended in queue. Our outgoing mail is just fine.
I looked in the mail log and it shows a zillion:
postfix/local[3144]: fatal: main.cf configuration error: mailboxsizelimit is smaller than messagesizelimit
We have no limit set on the size of messages that can be received...so what gives? In Workgroup manager we have 0 set in mail quota for everyone. From serveradmin/maintenance/mail queue I tried to resend..but to no avail. Anyone have an idea of how to get the incoming mail flowing?

Both Incoming and Outgoing Mail Stuck in Queue
Hi, I have an issue with a new install of OS X 10.5.8 Mail Server. It queues everything and won't let anything in or out. I feel like I must have missed something setting it up, but I followed the PDF pretty much step by step.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks to getting a new mail server running correctly?Does anyone have any tips or tricks to getting a new mail server running correctly?
Yes. Read the logs.
There are approximately 2 gazllion and seven reasons why mail might not pass through the server and get queued. The logs should shed some light on the problem and narrow down the focus. -
I can receive mails but outgoing mail stuck in outbox.
checked mail preference and changed outgoing mail server (SMTP) to iCould (iColud). still does not work.
what else shall I check?Hello Lilikoii,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I see that you're unable to send email using the Mail application on your Mac. To troubleshoot this issue please follow the directions in the article below.

TS3276 Gmail outgoing mail stuck in Outbox-please help
I have several Gmail accounts and one particular account is putting all of my outgoing mail in the OUTBOX when I send from my Macbook Pro, but not from my iPhone.
How do I fix this?
Thanks!Are you using mail.app?
Have you tried going to Message in the Menu Bar and selecting "Send Again" ? -
Iphone 4 outgoing mail stuck in outbox
I have an iphone 4, which I love. I have 4 accounts on my email. All 4 receive email. All 4 send email. But only 3 send email as a reply. The 4th sends it for ever to my outbox and says my account is not recognized by the server. Even tho I didn't have to do it for the other 3, I found that by adding @comcast.net to my email name on the outgoing mail line, it worked. The one that hadn't been working had a longer name than the rest. Perhaps that had something to do with it.
i would love to post to your cited forum, but cannot find it in the directory
even mail application is not in the directory
when i click on your link i come directly back to what i suspect is the os 10.7 oper sys forum.

no issues until recently when the incoming mail from my internet providers primary mail box, [email protected], does not always show up in my "primary" mailbox. it does show up in the aggregated "inbox" mailbox. i have done a mail box rebuild to no avail. have preferences been changed? - have i inadvertantly changed them?
i am now running os 10.7.5 and mail version 5.3. verizon fios is my internet provider.
about the time of the issue start, i renewed verizon fios with the same features and services, but the internet speed increased substantially. i did not change any fios adaptations or preferences - to my knowledge. -
Mail stuck in queue - NEED HELP QUICK!
So I am completely stumped here. My mail server has been running fine since last fall. There have been no changes to it in weeks and suddenly it just stops working. If I send mail to a user on a different server they get my mail just fine. If I send mail to my self or from any external account to my self it just sits in the queue. I have verified that I have MX records for every domain on my internal DNS server. Again, everything worked fine until yesterday so I doubt that this is DNS related.
The strange thing is that after I stop and start the server mail will flow for about 30 seconds. After that the only way I can force mail in the queue to move through the server is by stopping the mail service again, instantly restarting it and hitting the retry button in the queue window in server admin.
I am in a bug hurry to get this working and I really don't want to reformat the box due to some major custom configs on the web server. By the way, the mail server has not been modified in any way outside of server admin. Thanks.

I formatted the mirror and reinstalled 10.4.4 from scratch. Dropped the plist files back into server admin and started all the services. The attempt was only partially successful.
Mail will now go through but it takes a very long time. For example, if I send a test mail to my own account it will take over 10 minutes for me to receive that mail back. Sometimes it takes 25-40 minutes! This even occurs if I hit the retry button in server admin. What could be causing the delay?
The really odd part is that a few accounts seem to work fine. I have looked everywhere to see if I could find a difference between the accounts that forward immediately and the accounts that have the long delay and there is nothing obvious. By the way, this is very reproducible. If I send email to my personal account and cc one of the accounts that work fine I will get one email back immediately and the other back after a long while. I have many domains hosted on this server (all with good MX records) and it doesn't appear to make any difference which domain I use they all have the same results.

New Edge server fails with DNS lookups - incoming mail stuck in queue
I just setup an Edge server, together with 2 Ex2013 servers with DAG. Sync works fine, however incoming mails are stuck at the edge server. The queue looks like this:
451 4.4.0 DNS query failed. The error was: DNS query failed with error ErrorRetry
Checking the logs, it also shows errors like this:
2014-07-12T16:32:06.599Z,08D16C05D02E2774,SMTP,"ex2.internal.contoso.com,ex3.internal.contoso.com,ex4.internal.contoso.com",>,DNS server returned ErrorRetry reported by 0.0.0.0. [Domain:Result] = EX2.internal.contoso.com:ErrorRetry; EX3.internal.contoso.com:ErrorRetry; EX4.internal.contoso.com:ErrorRetry;
2014-07-12T16:32:06.599Z,08D16C05D02E2774,SMTP,"ex2.internal.contoso.com,ex3.internal.contoso.com,ex4.internal.contoso.com",-,"Messages: 0 Bytes: 0 (The DNS query for 'SmartHostConnectorDelivery':'ex2.internal.contoso.com,ex3.internal.contoso.com,ex4.internal.contoso.com':'e01d6f93-e25b-4e36-9f2f-c1c7c73889ae' failed with error : ErrorRetry)"
Now the network is a little special, as the edge server is not in DMZ, but simply in a workgroup in the same LAN as the other Exchange servers. The edge server NIC's are configured to use the internal AD DNS servers, and the edge server is able to lookup
all the other exchange servers (ie. ex2.internal.contoso.com).
So I wonder why the edge servers logs DNS lookup errors as long as the server it self can lookup the internal hostnames for Exchange.
Any help would be great, as all incoming mail is now stuck at the edge server.This is from the Edge server:

I should note that all the Exchange servers are behind the same public IP, I just use NAT in my firewall to seperate the ports (50636 and 25 into the Edge server, 80/443 into the CAS/MBS server). -
Mail Stuck in Queue AGAIN and More Often now
I had posted some time ago about my our companies email getting stuck in the queue, but at the time I thought it was just a rare instance.
This is happening more often now (just happened 2 days in a row) and I'm worried that some day I won't be able to recover from this.
Currently this is what I have to do to fix the problem, first I TRY to click the "Retry" button in Server Admin under "Mail Queue" and always, this does not work, secondly I ssh into the machine and issue an /sbin/reboot and once the server comes back up, I then have to go back into Server Admin and click the "Retry" button again and this finally allows the email to go through, usually around 500 emails by the time I notice it in the morning and when it finally starts sending those emails through, our CPU is through the roof during this process.
This system has never been completely stable and I have installed from scratch many times. Because the system hasn't ever been stable, I have created a CRON that issues the "/sbin/reboot" command every 2 am.
I want to resolve these issues once and for all and have myself a solid install (By the way, when I have 10.3 server on this machine way back when, it was always solid). Please help?
I will post my configuration in the next message.always_bcc = [email protected]

Mails stuck in queue when Automatic Replies are enabled
We have a new Exchange 2013 server and moved a few pilot users from the 2010 environment to it.
Everything seems to work OK but we just encountered a strange issue. One of the users turned on his automatic out of office replies and when people send E-mail to his mailbox they receive a 'Delivery delayed' e-mail. All mails to this account seem to be
stuck in the queue (shown in the Exchange Toolbox – Queue viewer) but they DO actually arrive in his Outlook.
The error message in the queue for his messages is: Recipients: [email protected];3;3;[{LRT=};{LED=432 4.2.0 STOREDRV.Deliver; Agent transient failure during message resubmission[Agent: Mailbox Rules Agent]};{FQDN=};
After turning off his out of office replies, the queue emptied instantly, and no duplicate mails arrived in his mailbox. After turning it back on the queue started filling up again with new mails.
Other pilot users have the same issue.
Has anybody seen this issue before? I checked space on the drives and there seems to be no issue there (so no back pressure issue).
thanks!We opened a case with Microsoft support. It took a few weeks for them to find what was causing this issue. I will just copy/paste the summary they gave us.
Reason:
So the error was thrown by the Transport Service when we are trying to submit the mail.
We also compared the difference between earlier version and CU5 and found “XORIGFROM=[email protected]” is the difference, we started using XORIGFROM verb from CU5.
We did further analysis and found During SMTP Session, we check if the XOrigFrom argument is allowed according to EHLO, capabilities and permissions.
While checking this permission, we check if the session has permission to accept organization headers, and this is where we are failing.
# we checked the effective permission for "Mailservername" on Default receive connector and found that we had "deny" permission on: Accept Organization headers
# We also found that the security group "Exchangelegacyinterop" had deny permission for "accept organization headers" on the default receive connector
# We found that the Exchange server "Mailservername" was a member of "Exchangelegacyinterop"
# So we removed the "Exchangelegacyinterop" and added the "Mailservername"
# we gave "Allow" permission on "Accept organization headers"
# we restarted the MSExchange Transport service
# We sent an test email to the OOF enable mailbox
# we found that we got the OOF reply and also the email did not stuck in the queue
# Issue resolved -
Server 3.2.2 - Inbound mail stuck in queue
Last night I installed updates to my OS X 10.9.5 system. The updates were "Security Update 2014-005" and "OS X Server 3.2.2". Somewhere along the way my inbound mail started getting stuck in the mail queue:
#mailq
F21E958DDE4 5108 Sat Nov 8 22:09:15 [email protected]
(delivery temporarily suspended: connect to 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]:10024: Connection refused)
[email protected]
I checked the usual suspects and indeed it would appear that amavis is alive. lsof shows:
#lsof -i TCP:10024
COMMAND PID USER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME
perl5.16 25384 _amavisd 5u IPv4 0xed4d5123387bf33f 0t0 TCP localhost:10024 (LISTEN)

smtp 25421 _postfix 14u IPv4 0xed4d51233ab4ab57 0t0 TCP localhost:49984->localhost:10024 (ESTABLISHED)
None of the logs have any clues. telneting to the port works but w/o a banner can't tell what's going on:
# telnet localhost 10024
Trying ::1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.

telnet> quit
Connection closed.
Is anybody else seeing this problem?Another Clue, these started showing up in system.log today:

In the good old C days that was: #define EEXIST 17 /* File exists */
it would appear that something is going click every couple of minutes and fails. I'm going to go look at the launchd plist file. -
E-mail stuck in Queue...
Hi,
I have created an e-mail process, when a user fills out the form it fires off an e-mail to the correct users. This works except sometimes the e-mail will get stuck in the E-mail Queue and it continues to push the e-mail to the user. One of my users got 30 e-mails of the same one. We've experienced this a couple times with different ApEx applciations. The only solution that I have found is to go into the manage queue and delete the e-mail that is stuck.
Has anyone seen this before? This just started happening about a month ago and we have never had this issue before.
Thanks,
Jessica
JessJessica,
What version of ApEx are you using? If it's 3.0 or greater, go ahead and update the call to apex_mail.send. I know that should not be causing the issue but it wouldn't hurt.
Also, I know this should not be the issue either, but consider declaring a VARCHAR2 variable to hold your body and pas that variable in as a parameter to p_body. Something like...
DECLARE
l_subj VARCHAR2(300);
l_body VARCHAR2(32000);
BEGIN
l_subj := 'ATTENTION: new Work Requisition has been requested by: '
||:P2_REQUESTED_BY);
l_body := 'The following is a new work requisition that has been requested by - '
|| :P2_REQUESTED_BY || chr(10)
|| 'Date Created - ' ||:P2_DATE_CREATED || chr(10)
|| 'Requested By - ' ||:P2_REQUESTED_BY|| chr(10)
|| 'Phone Ext.- ' ||:P2_PHONE_NUM|| chr(10)
|| 'Location - ' ||:P2_LOCATIONS|| chr(10)
|| 'Project # - ' ||:P2_PROJECT_NUM|| chr(10)
|| 'Project Name - ' ||:P2_PROJECT_NAME|| chr(10)
|| 'Quantity - ' ||:P2_QUANTITY|| chr(10)
|| 'Description - ' ||:P2_DESCRIPTION|| chr(10)
|| 'Date Available - ' ||:P2_DATE_AVAILABLE|| chr(10)
|| 'Need By Date - ' ||:P2_NEED_BY_DATE|| chr(10) || '.';
apex_mail.send (
p_from => '[email protected]'
, p_to => '[email protected]'
, p_subj => l_subj
, p_body => l_body
END;It's much more readable and declarative with this approach.

Dan -
Since upgrading to Tiger 10.4.5, my incoming mail is getting stuck in the mail queue and I can't get it out.
Every message says: "(queue active)" and are queued and never delivered.

Mail Stuck in Queue - Spamassassin Not Working
Hi:
Did 2 things last night and discovered this morning the mail queue backed up. I used terminal to manually update spamtrainer's rule sets (while I was in terminal with mail stopped anyway) adding some whitelisting to my local.cf. As usual, everything loaded fine and mail restarted okay, so no apparent issue at that moment.
Looking at logs it seems 127.0.0.1 is not accepting mail, here's a snippet from mail.log:
May 9 08:58:05 xserve postfix/qmgr[521]: D61CFCE7D67: from=<*@msn.com>, size=2980, nrcpt=1 (queue active)
May 9 08:58:05 xserve postfix/smtp[543]: connect to 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]: Connection refused (port 10024)
May 9 08:58:05 xserve postfix/smtp[543]: D61CFCE7D67: to=<*@gallagheradvertising.com>, relay=none, delay=1, status=deferred (connect to 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]: Connection refused)
I ran --lint for spamassassin and it returned this:
xserve:~ patrickgallagher$ spamassassin --lint
warning: description for FSSTARTDOYOU2 is over 50 chars
lint: 1 issues detected. please rerun with debug enabled for more information.
That's as far as I can get, I don't know how to run a debug with lint and not sure what I would do with any results it found. Need some help and direction with, thanks in advance.Patrick,
Server Admin has a few bad habits. Among them is that it sometimes "forgets" what it should or shouldn't update. I assume you stopped mail by issuing "sudo serveradmin stop mail". This equates to using Server Admin as you are effectively just calling it from the command line.
That said, after you download rule sets with "spamtrainer -a", spamtrainer restarts amavisd for you. No need to have services stopped before or do anything.
Likewise, if you make changes in SpamAssassin's or amavisd's config files, there is no need to stop mailservices. Just issue the following when done:
sudo /bin/launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.amavis.amavisd.plist
sudo /bin/launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.amavis.amavisd.plist
HTH,
Alex -
Status=Deferred (temporary failure) with mail stuck in queue
Adding the "domainname.com" (as in [email protected]) to local host aliases solved the "Mail loops back to myself" bounce message.
At least mail is being received, but...
now is piling up in queue.
I've already tried restarting the queue, no change.

I restored an older backup of the database that was already on the SUPERDUPER image, and everything is working now.
Today's lesson.. Do not use FINDER copy to move mailbfr backups from one machine to another.
