Outgoing mail under 3G and Wi-fi

I use my iPhone 3GS under 3G network and two different WiFi connections, so I have three different connection providers.
No problem with incoming mail (under POP protocol) in the above mentioned situations.
For as regards the outgoing mail, it seems that only the main SMTP server is took into consideration, and not the others SMTP servers.
So, in any of the above connection situation, it is necessary to manually insert into the main server field SMTP server identification which matches with the provider setting; in this way, the outgoing mail works correctly.
The alternate servers are not considered, even they are correctly configured and activated.
The consequence is that any time I move and change the connection provider, I am obliged to re-write by keyboard the main SMTP server id.
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated.

What's the deal with 3G and Wi-FI now with Froyo.  Before the upgrade I was able to have both Wi-Fi and 3G at the same time, now I have to pick between the 2 depending on what i am doing.  WeatherBug Elite  and MarketPlace only work with 3G, maybe it did also before but at least I didn't have to choose which type of network to run, because both 3G and Wi-fi were running.  Sometimes my Wi-fi signal is faster depending where I am, like at Home.  Has anyone else seen this type of quirkiness?  Is there a way around it?
Curious...does weatherbug tell you to use 3g or do you just notice that the 3g is on and wifi is not?
The phone never used both at the same time and at least on mine it switches automatically depending on if theres a wifi signal or not AND application.
some apps may use 3g and cell connection over wifi, especially apps that use location to provide things like weather.  Your location is likely obtained thru cell towers so wifi wouldnt be accessed by weatherbug.  But market should use wifi if a connection is available.

  • Sound for outgoing mail sometimes happening and sometimes not

    Hello,
I noticed already some time ago that Apple Mail seems to make the usual sound for outgoing mail only sometimes and sometimes not. It is more not happening than happening. I cannot recognize any pattern in this behavior.
Any idea what is going on here and how to fix it - or is this a normal behavior for Mail?
    Thanks.

Thanks--I found it interesting! Especially when Spell Check quit working for me, too.
    Very weird.
I went back and selected 'Correct Spelling Automatically' in Text Edit-- that works, but I don't like it either. Whoops, only intermittently. I just looked again and that's not working now. Wow, no restart of computer and I hadn't closed Text Edit-yet it stopped working.
Spell checking seems to be behaving badly. It will not underline in mail--until I change a misspelled word....and then only sometimes. At the best it's intermittent.
I hope someone found it interesting enough to fix w/the next system update...

  • I have somehow lost my outgoing mail servers list and cannot send mail.

I somehow lost the list of outgoing mail servers and cannot send mail.

Did you follow the reinstall instructions?
To reinstall Mail, you must have a system installation disk. Here is the procedure for OS X 10.6, or 10.5.
    1. Insert the Installation disk into the computer.
    2. The disk will appear on the desktop.
    3. Double click on the "Optional Installs" folder.
    4. Double click on the "Optional Installs.mpkg."
    5. Click on (Continue) in Introduction.
    6. Click on (Continue) in Software License Agreement.
    7. Click on (Agree) to agree to the terms of the software license agreement.
    8. Click on the disclosure arrow ▶ next to Applications.
    9. Select (✓) Mail.
    10. Click (Continue).
    11. After Mail has been reinstalled, download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1, for Snow Leopard or Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Updatefor Leopard to bring Mail up to the most recent version.

  • Problem Mail program & Outgoing Mail Server - Problem with Earthlink

I had Earthlink POP / SMTP ( In/Out ) Mail server and mac Mail set up when I pulled the power plug on PMG4 due to freeze up !
Now have no contents in mac Mail program In/Out/Sent/Draft on the PMG4 hardrive or the external Lacie brick back-up hardrive. I am told by Earthlink this is because I had the " don't save email copy on server " box checked in the Mail/Add account/Advanced section.
Any idea how I can retieve my email folders ?
Also cannot get rid of 6 account names listed erroneously under Mail/Preferences/Account/Accounts Information/outgoing mail server ! And yet there is only one account listed when the accounts button is pushed. This is making it impossible to connect to the earthlink server ! Earthlink says everythings fine on their end and I have the correct Server Port number entered ! Earthlink says it's a problem with macMail !
    Help !

This is no longer an issue

  • Can't send outgoing mail on Exchange

Mac Mail—I have an exchange account set up, incoming mail works perfectly. Like a dream, in fact. We are two mac-using designers at a 20-person PC environment.
When I go to send a test email, I get "Cannot send message using the server 'exchange:companyname.com'". Our admin has the server set up to enable IMAP, we've tried a number of possible server/user phrasing combinations in the Outgoing Mail Server field and no dice. Any help is appreciated. Don't wanna use Entourage or worse Outlook via Parallels. Don't. Wanna.
    thanks 1 million,
    Anthony

I have been having the exact same issues with my mail. Today I went into Mail > Preferences > Accounts
Click on "Edit Server list" under the Outgoing Mail Server
    Click Advanced
Change the Autentication type (mine was set as NTLM)
By switching to "password" and using: exchange server/user name and my exchange password I got the outbound mail to work.
    Hope this helps

  • I recently changed my e-mail hosting service, and all my mail in my iPhone just disappered, How can I get it back? How can I prevent from it happening again?

As soon as I changed de Pop settings in t, all my mail disappered in a matter of minutes, Why? How can I get it back? I did full backup a couple of weeks ago, can I recover it from there?

    Hey jartansmom,
Thanks for the question. You may need to configure the outgoing mail server for the account. The following resource will outline how to navigate to these settings, however instead of adding a server, you’ll then want to update the settings with your correct username and password:
iOS: Configuring additional outgoing mail servers
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4519
    1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    2. Tap the Mail account for which you would like to change the settings. If you configured your account using any of the built-in presets, IMAP, or Exchange, you may need to tap Account Info on the following screen.
    3. On the Account Info screen, locate the Outgoing Mail Server section and tap the existing SMTP entry. A list of SMTP servers will appear with the Primary Server and Other SMTP Servers.
If you need help with your mail settings, you can utilize this tool:
Mail Settings Lookup - Apple Support
    https://ssl.apple.com/support/mail-settings-lookup/
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Outgoing mail server off-line:

I have developed a problem with my MAIL email client. I cannot send out on either of my POP accounts but can receive. Outgoing mail goes via my gmail account server. I have checked the settings with Onetel and they are OK and also work using Mailzone. Outgoing also works using these settings on my iphone.

Using the password method is not a hassle you are assuming you need to input the password everytime you email, that isn't the case. You input the information once and from there it's automated. Here is how you do it:
Mail - Prefrences - Accounts Tab - highlight the account - click Outgoing Mail Server SMTP and choose Edit SMTP List - Click Advanced Tab - in Authentification choose Password and input the Username and PW info. Once that's done exit Preferences and send a test email to yourself.

  • OUTGOING MAIL POLICIES USING CRES BUT ALSO TO BE PROCESSED BY DLP POLICY

We have a outgoing policy in place which in turn have domains applied, a content filter and DLP policies.  The content filter states that if it receives cres header it will deliver without analysing and avoid DLP policies and send.
How can I config this so even if cres is used it will continue processing and follow DLP policies and send out accordingly.  I have tried "encrypt on delivery" i do receive the cres request but the dlp policy email bcc destination receives nothing at all.
When i send the same email without cres header the destination email receives and so does dlp policy email destination.

Yes the order matters.  It matches top to bottom, once you have a match, that's the policy that applies...
The HELP that is on the box is actually pretty complete, and includes examples of policy matching... Just go to the Outgoing Mail Policies page, and click "Help and Support" in the upper right...

  • Need to change outgoing mail address which is from an old account

We recently switched to a new internet service provider, but the old address is by default still being sent as the outgoing (from:) address in the Mail application. Is there a way to remove that address? The problem is not with the service provider because I have been able to check the current valid inbox address through the service provider's homepage online. The problem must lie with a setting in the computer that has retained the old address as a default.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're sending from the new account, that address is the outgoing mail address, by default. Did you try deleting the server of the old account? It could be sending mail out through that server instead of the one provided by the new ISP, which would change the outgoing mail address.
Go to Preferences > Accounts and select the new account; look near the bottom of the window where it says "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" and check to be sure that is set to the server provided by your new mail provider. If it's not, you need to select the correct one from the pop-down list.

  • Relay outgoing Mail

    Hello,
On the new OS X Server 3.0 when selecting 'Relay Outgoing Mail through ISP' and entering example.com:587 the Server App complains and rejects the entry as invalid.
Works fine on OS X Server 2.2.2
Any suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Why is mail erasing or resetting outgoing mail servers?

Yesterday morning, Mail had reset itself to have no outgoing mail servers. I manually reentered the outgoing mail server info, and Mail functioned properly until this morning. Today, Mail had reset the outgoin mail server onmy several email accounts to None--but it didn't "erase" the proper email servers' info.  I've now manually changed the outgoing mail server for each of my email accounts, and Mail is functioning properly.  I'd like to understand what's happenin and how to prevent the nuissance int he future.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Bill, I take it the Mac loses that info when logged out or restarted?
It sounds like your Main pref file is corrupted...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Trouble is it holds almost everything, not sure if you'd like to quit Mail trash that file & setup Mail all over again, or if it'd be better to try trashing it once Mail is up & running & have it attempt to rebuild that file from what is in memory.
Do you have any backups of that file?

  • HT5361 My apple mail will no longer allow me to select a signature and have it display in outgoing mail.

My signature is no longer appearing in my new outgoing mail message drafts.  When I attempt to select the right signature, the dropdown in the email draft says 'none'
Under mail preferences--signatures--choose signatures it also says none and does not let me select anything though two signatures exist tied to this account.
Since I didn't create the issue I also don't know how to fix it and all attempts so far have failed.  Feedback desired.

    Mail > Preferences > Signatures
Drag the signatures you want to use to the account. Then relaunch Mail.

  • Is it possible to highlight text in Apple Mail for incoming mails and outgoing mails?

Is it possible to highlight text in Apple Mail for incoming mails and outgoing mails?

If you mean that you wish to highlight messages from certain people or domain names, then if you select Preferences under 'Mail' (top left hand corner next to the Apple logo when you're in the mail application) and then select the right hand icon marked 'rules', then click on Add Rule and hopefully the rest is fairly self explanatory.
    Best of luck

  • How to save all incoming and outgoing mail

I run a Leopard server with 10 email clients that I want to be able to save the incoming and outgoing messages from. I could have sworn that under Tiger, I had the catchall working to include both incoming and outgoing mail to [email protected]
However, under Leopard the catchall seems to grab only the incoming emails? Is there a way to do this? or - is there a better way I SHOULD be doing this. Basically I need both a record of emails for liability issues and the ability to access them easily (this was made convenient by using webamil to login and read as needed).
    Thanks!
