Outgoing mailserver?

I have a strange issue with Mail using Lion.
I have two mail accounts.  A Mac.com address and a POP account.
At home I have Comcast cable and thus use a Comcast outgoing mailserver with the POP account.  Mac.com uses the Mac outgoing server.
Anytime I use Mail outside of my house (hotel, other persons house, ect) I have to send email using Mac.com account. That is fine.  When I get back home the Comcast outgoing mailserver does not send.  I get a message saying it's not a good outgoing server.
I then have to go into the Mail prefs and delete the existing Comcast outgoing server and create another one exactly like the one I deleted. I can even copy and paste the same server info and everything works fine.
Any idea what causes this or what the fix is.  Funny that the only time it happens is when I use my laptop in another place.

  • Outgoing Mailserver SSL keeps being checked

    Hi,
    For 3 days in a row now there is a problem with the mail program on my wifes Macbook Air.
    Suddenly she isn't able to send a mail. When i checked the settings the SSL option was suddenly checked on the outgoing mailsever.
    I tried to uncheck this option but i wasn't able to uncheck it. I then removed the outgoing mailserver and added it again.
    The next day it happend again, and again the day after.
    I keep have to delete the outgoing mailserver to uncheck the SSL option.
    The mail app is version 6.3 on Mac OS X Mountainlion 10.8.3.
    I know that the settings of the outgoing mailserver are correct as I work on the technical helpdesk of the ISP.
    Anybody an idea how this keeps getting checked?

  • HT4979 why can I not send email when away from my home wifi? Am able to receive messages OK, and outgoing mailserver is correct?

    Why am I unable to send email when away from my home wifi ? I am able to receive mail OK, and have double- checked the outgoing server which is correct. This problem is consistent with my Macbook Pro, iPhone, and iPad2.
    Attempts to send messages results in them sitting in the Outbox and never- ending 'sending message' displayed.
    I am able to send using my   me.com  server.
    Home service provider is Cogeco.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • ICal invitation replies stuck in mailserver (ML Server)

    I've tried to setup the iCal server on my MacMini server. Spend a lot of time to get the invitations to work. Finaly it's working but when you reply on the invitation it's getting stuck in the mailserver. I use the com.apple.calenderserver address. I'm using Kerio Connect as a mailserver. When i look in the message que of Kerio i can see the replies but they stuck. They are pointed to: [email protected]
    So it looks like there is a missing link between kerio sending it to the iCal server or the iCal server receiving it from kerio...
    Anybody know how to fix this? All help is welcome! Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jeff,
    Thanks a lot for your reply. Unfortunately it does'nt work yet. Invitations going out, no problem, same as before. Replies on invitations coming back to Kerio, see them in the message Que. After a while they disappear. It's telling me: "Result failed, Too many hops, message looping so it's still not delivering the message to the iCal server.
    Settings email invitations iCal:
    Emailaddress: [email protected]
    Emailservertype: IMAP
    Incoming mailserver: server.mydomain.nl
    Port: 143 SSL checked
    User: Afspraak
    Password: •••••••
    Outgoing mailserver: smtp.myprovider.nl
    Port: 25 SSL unchecked

    IMAP

    Can you please help me further? Many thanks in advance!

  • Outgoing Mac Mail always send from the same address?

    Hey y'all -
    I use 3 gmail accounts through mac mail for 3 different purposes - all fine. But when I send mail, regardless of what account I send it from, recipients always recieve my emails from the same address? E.G. I send an email from addresses 1 or 2, but when they are received they are from address 3? I've also removed address 3 from mac mail, but recipients STILL see address 3 as the sender. Can anyone help? Would a reinstall of mail be appropriate, if so what would be the effective way to go about it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Stu

    SOLVED IT!
    Right, I had multiple email accounts, all gmail, address 1 2 & 3.
    All mail went to the right addresses, fine. But when I compose, lets say from address 1 or 2, it ALWAYS ends up being received the other end by address 3. I only find this out until I get a reply delivered to the wrong address.
    SO  go to preferences, select one of the problematic addresses, then outgoing mailserver (SMTP:) in this case it will say Gmail. Click it so you get the drop down and edit SMTP list. There is a tab that says advanced. This is where I noticed the problem. On my list of SMTP servers I had one for my microsoft account, and then one Gmail one for all 3 gmail accounts. And what did I find for authentication? the username and password of the problem address that ALL my gmail accounts were sending through. You need to create SEPERATE smtp servers for each and every account, especially when using multiple accounts of the same kind (e.g. 3 gmails!)
    This fixed the problem for me perfectly and now my emails send from the CORRECT selected address. HOORAH!
    ALSO...
    Regardless weather it by gmail or hotmail you compose from, mac defaults to using the next working server. Before setting up seperate smtp servers for each gmail I just deleted the one that was there and then it started sending from microsoft account etc... just to clarify that it works regardless of account type!

  • How do I get my outgoing email configurations for Profile Manager to work properly?

    Hey there,
    The outgoing mailservers for users with a custom domain Outlook.com system keep getting @imap-mailoutlook.com appended to their outgoing mailserver, this stops the outgoing emails from working properly.
    These are the email configuration settings for one of these accounts:
    Thanks so much in advance,
    Hamual

    The problem fixed itself when I uninstalled ZumoDrive free cloud storage and also Growl the notifier application. Had to employ AppZapper to uninstall all related files.... but all worked a treat. All is back to normal.

  • Nokia 301-1 - no outgoing mail possible/config imp...

    Hello,
    I work for a Belgian Telecomoperator. One of our cmrs cannot configure his mail on his new Nokia 301-1 handset.
    To be clear, all data(login, passw., mailservers,ports,...) is correct, I verified them myself with the cmr and I also configured his mailadress on a Nokia Lumia without any problems.
    * in the config. we deactivated "authentification compulsory" - else we could not complete config.
    Once the mail is configured. Receiving mails is ok, but when trying to send one we get error message:
    "unexpected error".
    Handset and software details(no more update possible)
    v09.04
    03/12/13
    rm-839
    c301-1
    Am I at the right place to ask this question, as it wasn't quite clear for these types of Nokia. If not, please do not hesitate to move the topic.
    Thanks in advance for some advice.

    Ah, ok I misunderstood your question as this is quite common with us.
    His incoming mailserver is dependant of his mailprovider, being VOO. His mobile subscription is with another operator, Mobistar. So when he's sending mails(outgoing mailserver) he uses the mobistar network and thus the Mobistar outgoing mailserver, being gprsmail.mobistar.be(which used to be SMTP.mobistar.be).
    Is this an explanation that helps you? Don't hesitate if you need more details.
    Kr,

  • How do I find the SMTP for my email acct on Firefox

    I am trying to activate MS Outlook for facilitate business communication. I need to know the SMTP for the outgoing mailserver used by Mozilla for my business email acct.

    Mozilla is not an email provider.
    To get the email details such as mail servers, you need to contact the company that provides the email service. This could be your ISP if you use their email, or if it is a webmail service such as Gmail or Hotmail you need to contact the provider of the webmail service.

  • SMTP Password required

    My SMTP Server requires us to user a username/password. I noticed in the HTML DB Admin settings their is only options for server and port. How do I register a username/password?

    You can use UTL_SMTP to send mail through a server that requires authentication by sending the authentication commands after connecting. I use a procedure like the one below. I submit it using DBMS_JOB.
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE "SEND_MAIL" (
    p_sender IN VARCHAR2,
    p_recipient IN VARCHAR2,
    p_message IN VARCHAR2
    AS
    l_mailhost VARCHAR2 (255) := 'your.outgoing.mailserver.address';
    l_mail_conn UTL_SMTP.connection;
    BEGIN
    l_mail_conn := UTL_SMTP.open_connection (l_mailhost, 25);
    utl_smtp.command( l_mail_conn, 'AUTH LOGIN');
    utl_smtp.command( l_mail_conn, utl_raw.cast_to_varchar2( utl_encode.base64_encode( utl_raw.cast_to_raw( 'Your Mail UserName' ))) );
    utl_smtp.command( l_mail_conn, utl_raw.cast_to_varchar2( utl_encode.base64_encode( utl_raw.cast_to_raw( 'Your Mail Password' ))) );
    UTL_SMTP.helo (l_mail_conn, l_mailhost);
    UTL_SMTP.mail (l_mail_conn, p_sender);
    UTL_SMTP.rcpt (l_mail_conn, p_recipient);
    UTL_SMTP.open_data (l_mail_conn);
    utl_smtp.write_data(l_mail_conn, 'Subject: Your Subject Line Here');
    UTL_SMTP.write_data (l_mail_conn, p_message);
    UTL_SMTP.close_data (l_mail_conn);
    UTL_SMTP.quit (l_mail_conn);
    END;

  • Rochester/Roadrunner Issues with SMTP Server

    Hello. New to Rochester and Roadrunner. I let Mac Mail setup the account but it couldn't resolve the SMTP server on Roadrunner. I can receive but not send. I've played with all of the port and SSL settings and still nothing. It shows my account as "offline". My Comcast account is still on there and a few emails went through, but using the Comcast server for some reason.
    I know my password is correct as I've double checked it. I've also pinged the smtp-server.rochester.rr.com. Still won't go.
    Any thoughts?

    I'm having the same issue with the outgoing mailserver in Rochester. I didn't understand your resolution. Would you please explain further?
    Thanks!

  • SSL email on Dreamhost hosted domain?

    Has anyone gotten SSL email to work on a Dreamhost hosted domain?
    I keep getting the infamous SSL clock error that has nothing to do with the clock.  I am not running Exchange Server and I have loaded the cert for *.mail.dreamhost.com onto my pre to no avail.
    Obviously my email domain is not the same as the cert domain, and this appears to be the root of the problem.  Using the dreamhost addressed mail servers or my own domain mail servers makes no difference.  I can receive and send via ports 110 and 25 only on the Pre.  SSL ports work fine on the PC.
    Thanks,
    -K
    Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

    I just got this working today.
    It seems like you're most of the way there, since you've already installed Dreamhost's certificate (I'm leaving a link to Dreamhost's support wiki about this for anyone that may follow:  http://wiki.dreamhost.com/NDN_Certificate).
    You've likely also seen Dreamhost's posting regarding the 'Certificate Domain Mismatch Error' (http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Certificate_Domain_Mismatch_Error). I tried a few things here, but the crucial step was to find out which Dreamhost mail server my domain uses. I found that information by logging on to my Dreamhost web panel and going to Mail > Custom MX/Gmail. Scrolling all the way down showed me something that looked like this:
    Dreamhost MX Records
    mx1.balanced.frisky.mail.dreamhost.com
    mx2.balanced.frisky.mail.dreamhost.com
    Your information may end up looking a little different, as Dreamhost uses several different server names that may stand in for 'frisky' above.
    So, for my incoming and outgoing mailserver, I entered:
    frisky.mail.dreamhost.com
    And everything started working from there. I tested send and receive several times, and I've been getting mail all day.
    I'm using SSL on port 993 for incoming mail, and TLS on port 587 for outgoing (yeah, it's odd, but it works, so I'm not going to mess with it).
    Good Luck!

  • Cant send mail

    I cant send email on either of my accounts from the iphone. It is saying to check smtp settings but they are correct.
    Was sending fine a day ago, but seems to intermittently not want to work. Any ideas?  Receiving fine to both accounts.

    Make sure your outgoing mailserver settings are correct. In particular, try using StartTLS instead of SSL/TLS, this helps in some cases.

  • HT201320 CANNOT SEND MAIL

    I reset my Comcast password today.  As a result, I am able to receive email but am unable to send email on my iPhone and iPad.  I receive the following message. Cannot Send Mail.  The user name or password for SMTP. etc. is incorrect.  I went into Settings, Deleted my Account, and readded it, but still receive the same error message.  Help.

    Thanks for the quick response.  I input my new password in the outgoing mailserver (SMTP) however I'm still unable to send messages.

  • Send mail from Enterprise Linux

    We have a couple of servers running Enterprise Linux v5.3. What we want is to be able to send mail from those linux servers to internal and external mail adresses. In SuSE it is fairly simple to configure your MTA but Enterprise Linux I cannot find where to configure a outgoing mailserver. I don't want the configure the servers as a mail server but simply be able to send mails from those server.
    Can someone help me?
    Cheers,

    Since OEL is a derivative of RedHat (even the numbering scheme matches), and since RedHat Enterprise is derived from Fedora, you could use web searches to find out how to do this by referencing the search to RedHat or Fedora insteadd of Oracle ENteprise Linux.
    That said, the apporpriate place to ask such a question is where the Linux people hang out. Click on "Forum Home" at the top of the page, scroll down to "Linux" (in the "Technology" category) and ask there. Since the inhabitants of that corner all deal with Linux the probability of getting a useful answer is much higher than here.
