"Outgoing" - only, Email problem ..

-
hello.
Just got off the phone with "Earthlink".
Had had a problem (and still do - ultimately) with my "outgoing" - only, Email. / (send).
With "Earthlink" rep., .. found a minor mistake in my "SMTP" setting, .. adjusted for this mistake, .. but found a "repeated" request for my may account "password" upon trying to "send" - following.
(This with additionally, reverting to main "settings / Server settings", to re-enter all password fields. And, with the repeated password request popping up, additionally - subsequently, also after "Restarting".
A final check with "Earthlink", at (or going through) their main "Web-Mail" site, .. @ has shown, that "send" is in fact possible - where considering the (my) main email settings configuration, as it stands at this point.
So, .. the question that has come up - between the "Earthlink" rep. and myself / with all of this, has been whether or not "it may be" ...
— (with my having recently entered all new information / and general settings -"more system wide" / with a recent complete re-installing of my computer's main OS) —
.. perhaps something that I may have done, more "Administratively", to have caused this block to my (own) outgoing mail.
Don't won't to destroy the mail that I accumulated - just recently.
So I'm "checking" in, here, before proceeding with what I might next.

  • HT201320 iOS 7 Send only email address?

I'm trying to configre an send only email address from my iOS device. Currently I get all my incomming mail from iCloud push. But I want to be able to send mail from my Gmail account. Since Apple doesn't let you send mail from other domains I need to configure a Gmail account on my device but I don't want it to check for mail. I have tried configuring an account manually but it won't let me continue if the incoming mail server is blank, and if I enter bogus values I get error messages when I open mail.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

I, too, am trying to figure this out.
Mail should NOT try to suck down my inbox. I just want to set up an OUTGOING ONLY email account.

  • I can no longer attach files to my outgoing Hotmail emails.  I only receive a message that an  error has occurred. Help appreciated.

I can no longer attach files to my outgoing Hotmail emails.  I only receive a message where I would expect the Upload to appear that an  error has occurred.
I am using a MacBook Pro with Retina, 2 Ghz Intel Core i7, OS X 10.9.4
I have no difficulty attaching files to the outgoing Hotmails on the same account using my iPhone.
    Help appreciated.

Thanks for this - not an immediate solution I fear but will keep unplugging stuff and restarting stuff.
To try and be clearer about the problem - I have in the last managed to send attachments successfully.  Now  I can send and receive plain email messages but get the error message when I try to attach an existing file to an email - not just a particular file but it would appear all files are being treated in the same way.
An experiment to send a mail to which an attachment has failed to upload got the following message alongside the SEND button
Files with errors will be removed from the email and not sent.
    - but the mail alone was sent and received successfully.  Thanks for any pointers you can give me.

Strange email problem; it started only loading unread emails, but from 3 months ago. It is now loading new emails too, but no emails in the past month, read or unread. It's gmail, set up through the phone, I've restarted restored and updated firmware, deleted the account, anything I could think of, but it's just not accurately downloading the most recent emails.

The answer is very simple: You were not the original owner of the phone. Target sold you a phone that had been returned. You can verify the date of the original sale here: Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage. I suspect you will find that the warranty expiration date is not one year from the date that you bought it.

  • Email problems with BB synched via BES. No email notifications and can't send replies.

This isn't a question, but more of a public service announcement for those like myself that manage to screw up their email settings. I recently had problems with my email in that I would not get audible or visual notifications of new email and I couldn't send replies although I could forward and create new emails. The problem is that I am using Desktop Manager on two PCs and only one is configured to access my corporate email account, the one that is redirected to the BB. The default settings of my Desktop Manager installation was to synchronize the device date and time automatically when connected to the PC. Connecting my BB to my home machine would cause the email problems. I had to wipe and reactivate to fix my problems.
So, if you want to use the BB on two PCs and one is not configured for the email account going to the phone... disable the auto synchronization option BEFORE connecting the device to that machine and launching Desktop Manager. It would also be nice if the Desktop Manager installer had an option to install on a PC that is used for backup/recovery and application loading only. The installer had two options IIRC and your choice was that the BB is used with BES or with a personal email account.

Internally, your invites are processed by the server.
If an outside sends a new invite to you, the server doesn't know about it until you add the event to your calendar app.
You'll find settings in Mail and Calendar apps (depending on client OS) to automatically add invites to the Calendar.
    So to sum it up.
Internal users, processed in real-time directly by the server
External invites, must be processed by the client app, and depending on OS/Settings, could require manually adding or acknowleding. Also.. in 10.7/10.8 you will see an inbox tray in the Calendar app, your invites may show up there (and you'll need to click to ack)
    Hope that helps.

I am having email problems with the new Mountain Lion.  stmp, imap, etc. I have looked up google info and It is confusing when it comes to TS, SSL also, please explain how to set it up so my email goes out and comes in securely.  Help
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - requires SSL:
    imap.gmail.com
    Use SSL: Yes
    Port: 993
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS:
    smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
    Use Authentication: Yes
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
    Port: 465 or 587
    Account Name:
your full email address (including @gmail.com) Google Apps users, please enter username@your_domain.com
    Email Address:
your full Gmail email address ([email protected]) Google Apps users, please enter username@your_domain.com
    Password:
    your Gmail password
    The Quick Answer
Follow the instructions below to set up IMAP1 access in most email clients.
Google Apps users, please follow the default instructions unless otherwise noted, replacing 'your_domain.com' with your actual domain2 name.
this is all greek to me. WHAT IS STARTTLS? On the first page of Apple set up there is a TLS certificate and it is marked NONE- should I change it to the long APPLE CERT option?  The next page under ADVANCED: THERE IS A BOX SSL MARKED.  Then IMAP Path Prefix - I put stmp.gmail.com.. is that right?  Port 993 can  use this one? as 456 doesn't work and 587 said it wasn't safe.  Under AUTHENTICATION I used PASSWORD.  Should I have used external client cert TLS?
Please help me set this up securely. Thanks

  • How can I set up a "receive only" email account in Outlook 2010

I have an Outlook 2010 email account that receives emails from a "Fax-to email" service, and I'd like to make that accout "Receive Only".  Is it possible to do that, and if so, how.
    Capt. Dinosaur

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to set up a
“Receive Only”email account in Outlook 2010, please follow these steps: -
You have a few options available to you. You can set up the account with
a fake SMTP server name and configure the Send/Receive group to not send mail from this account, or you can use a different, valid account for the Outgoing server, just in case you accidentally use the wrong account when you compose a message.
First, create the account in Outlook: -
Fill the name and address fields with the desired information. Select
POP3 account type and enter the incoming server name.
In the Outgoing server field, type
    nomail.
Enter the correct username and password for the incoming mail account.
If you want to verify the incoming server is correctly configured, click on
Test Account Settings, and then choose the dialog after the incoming server is verified.
    Deselect the option to
Automatically test account settings when the Next is clicked.
    Click on the
    Finish to return to Outlook.
Because Outlook will error on every manual send and receive when it can not find the outgoing server error, you need to change the
Send and Receive Settings for this account.
    Press
Ctrl+Alt+A to open the Send/Receive Settings dialog. (or you can go to
Send/Receive tab, Send/Receive Groups and select Define Send/Receive Groups.
    Click the
    Edit button.
Select the receive-only account, then deselect
    Send Mail Items.
    Click on the
OK, then Close to return to Outlook.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Outlook Sent Email Problem!

I use Outlook 2010 and use two accounts one is btinternet and the other a gmail. Over the last few days when I send a gmail it posts a copy in the gmail "Sent Box" and also posts the same copy in the btinternet "Sent Box" - this does
not happen if I reverse the process. I have trawled Microsoft and other help sites and have not come across any reference to this particular problem or solution only the problem of saving emails twice in one "Sent Box" can anyone help please?
    Keith_53 at Home.

    Hi,
Have you checked if you have set any Outlook rule to move a copy of sent items to the other account? To check this, please go to Home tab > Rules > Rules & Alerts.
If you have any antivirus or third-party add-in installed, please temporarily turn off the antivirus and open Outlook in safe mode to test the issue again. To open Outlook in safe mode, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
    outlook.exe /safe and press Enter.
If above doesn't make any difference, please try to create a new mail profile in Control Panel and reconfigure your email accounts to check the result.

  • Survey of intermittent email problems on edge

I have posted here before about my iphone having intermittent email problems. Usually when I am on the edge network it can sometimes take minutes before my phone downloads email. Sometimes it never downloads them at all. I have my account setup for imap and thought this may be do to the fact I have 100 email sub folders. However these are only for filing with no server side processing to file mail to individual folders. For the most part the issue is limited to edge network access but sometimes does happen when connected to wifi. Of the 8 or so people I have talked to who own iphones only 1 does not seem to have a problem like this. All 8 of us are on different mail servers also.
So I am curious how many others out there are regularly having issues pulling down email on your iphone? And if so is it limited to edge network access or when you are accessing your mail over wifi? Has anyone owned a blackberry and had issues like these?

I don't have a problem since I fixed it. I have 4 email accounts: 2 POP3, One IMAP and one Exchange configured as IMAP. I never have a problem retrieving email via EDGE or WiFi. Your problem description is too general to recommend a single solution, however.
Blackberrys cannot handle rich text email, so all messages are short and download quickly. On the iPhone if you have a message that contains HTML, graphics or MIME attachments they can be quite large - up to several megabytes. Clearly these will take a long time to download. The same email received by a Blackberry will only get the text version of the message, which is a couple of K.
If you are accessing an Exchange server and get "message could not be downloaded" errors, delete the account and recreate it using IMAP rather than Exchange as the server type.
If you are accessing a POP3 account and you have a primary computer somewhere powered on that periodically retrieves email the message will be removed from the server before your iPhone downloads it sometimes. The solution is to either shut down the mail client when away from the computer or change its options to leave messages on the server.
For IMAP you shouldn't see any of these problems, except that if you open a folder it retrieves messages in that folder AFTER the folder is opened; it doesn't sync folders automatically.

  • Can we display only email address on the sender when receive external incoming mails

    Hello ALL Experts,
Organization want to see only email addresses in the FROM field when receive External incoming emails from Any domains.
I know for Sending emails out to the External domain we can control it in exchange with the help of Use Simple Display Name attribute.
So want the same to the managed for external incoming emails as well, if possible with the help of Transport rule or some custom scripts
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, we can use simple display name as an external display name for outgoing messages, but I'm afraid there is no way to do this for incoming mails.

  • I just updated my iphone 4 to ios 7, after texting my friend, it doesnt show my number only email in her message. how do i change it so it can show my number. she has an iphone 4 also

i just updated my iphone 4 to ios 7, after texting my friend, it doesnt show my number only email in her message. how do i change it so it can show my number. she has an iphone 4 also

I fixed my problem so download iTunes on your computer/laptop. Connect your iPhone into the computer and then click load backup and after they finish loading the backup. Go to your settings and click reset all contents and settings and then your phone will turn off by itself and wait for your phone to turn on and then it will say hello and slide to set up but don't do anything. Go to your computer and click restore backup and then it will turn off again and then just wait for it turn back on and then when it turns back on. You won't lose anything. Just your apps because once you redownload them. They will already put it in the spot you used to put them and like games it will still save wherever level or part you are on of the game. Hope this solves your problem.

  • Email problems and the incompetence of BT call cen...

How come one can come on this forum and read threda after thread of people complaining about intermitant email problems yet when you ring the call centre you are fobed off with the usual excsue that it is your settings that are the problem.
For me, it was only after wasting 30 minutes of my time, in which the memebr of the 'technical' team tried to look at my settings, this involved him entering the wrong information on several occasions and needing to be corrected by myself. That the person admitted that there had been a problem.
What is interetsing is that I explained that i receive emails through my Ipad and sometimes collect by BT Yahoo, as well as my PC, none of which were working and all of which require the setting to lon on to the serever to be set individually, I also made it quite clear that was an intermitant problem, but that today it had lasted 8 hours. Yet still we went this through redicilous rigmorole of playing with the settings on my PC - why?
The gentlemen then admitted there was a problem with BT yahoo, so very unimpressed I asked to speak to the complaints department. I was put through to a 'manager' and I use that term guardedly because he was no more competent then the first person I spoke to. He said that perhaps his colleugue had failed to check the system status recently, I suggest that he had not chceked it for at least 8 hours as that is how long my emial has been down today! This man then began the fob of speech, refusing to put me through to someone who would help and saying he had all the authority to help me, afetr several questions it became clear he had no authroity whatsoever, he could not talk about bills, he could even get me the details of the complaints department in Durham, apparently it deos not exist!
Anyway I am sharing my story to see if anyone thinks that the call centre that BT farm their work out to are entirely incompetent and are seriously in need of some training, the first thing they need to do is actually listen to the customer and not begin the decision tree they think roughly addresses the problem.
    'ah email'
step 1 - click 'email connection problem'
    step 2 - check settings
It just might be that some of us do actually know what we are talking about, and have had experience setting up call centers so we know hoe they work.
Please, please allow us to speak to people who will help us with our problem it is the only way you will retain customers in a competive telecommunications sector.
Just stop fobbing us off with the line, 'it must be your settings' but admit you have a problem and get it fixed!!
Ironically as I type 'fixed' yet another 0x800ccc92 falshes up on screen, showing that my issues still remain unresolved.

    Hi Cross_Bug.
First of all i too know how frustrating it can be being put through to some one who is less than compitent with there job. However with the steps that they do it is required before they can use any other protocols so unfortunately you would just have to bare with them.
    Second of all if you would like to write in to complaint about a certain product or service, then you can do so in writing to our corespondence center the adress is as follows;
    BT Correspondence Centre
    Providence Row
    Durham
    DH98 1BT
Other alternatives for complaints are e-mailing in through the website via webform. http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/5642,5645 They aim to give a reply within 24-48 hours of receiving the form and will aim to do so satisfactory.
I hope i have been informative and it aids into the problem being fixed for yourself.
