Outgoing SMS sounds in iOS 4.2.1 -- any way to disable?

This afternoon I upgraded to iOS 4.2.1 on my iPhone 4. I now hear a "whoosh" tone when I send an SMS message. Similar (perhaps identical?) to the sent mail tone. I have for ages and ages had the sent mail alert tone set to OFF. But I see no way to control this new sent SMS alert tone.
Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone find a way to turn this off?

@Pels_17, you are incorrect. I had the iPhone 3G and never, ever heard this "whoosh" alert tone in the 2 years I owned it. When I upgraded to the iPhone 4, I gave the 3G to my fiancee. She is running iOS 4.1, and I tried to reproduce the noise with her device, but no sound is made.
This problem (or "feature" as you call it) is NEW to iOS 4.2.
The iPhone gives us great control over ring tones, alert tones, sounds, notifications, etc. I am not whining, I am trying to figure out why they wouldn't give us control over this noise. It is the exact same as a Sent Mail, and there is an option to turn off the Sent Mail tone in Sounds settings. Always has been. It makes no sense to introduce this tone without a way to control it.

How to stop outgoing SMS sound in iOS 5.1?

I have iPhone 4s and I wish to stop the outgooing SMS sound which is annoying, especially at nights.
I have disabled the option of SMS sound in Settings>Sounds>Text tones as None.
I have also disabled the option of sent mail in Settings>Sounds>Sent Mail to None.
Still the Whooosh sound of outgoing SMS is not stopped.
Any solution here..?

You might be able to remove the recent backup from the backups folder and the old one should be usable at that point

Hello. I have the same problem - I upgraded to iOS 5 and in the process lost my contacts and ALL my SMS. I know that we can use backups to restore the information. But the problem is that my back ups are May 2011 and the day I did the upgrade, so nothing helpful there. I don't think the system did a backup before the upgrade. I did the upgrade on october 22. And for that date i have two back ups. I restored the phone to the older backup and it restored my contacts but not my SMS. Is there ANY way I can get my SMS back????

In iOS 7 is there any way to browse other playlists in order to add songs when making a playlist?

I have approximately 1000 albums and 14000+ songs available on iTunes Match. In iOS 6 I could browse other playlists when creating a new playlist. This was important because when I bought new music I would find it quickly by going to my "purchased" or "recently added" playlist and incorporate it into a playlist. Now, iOS 7 appears to no longer allow this because the playlist tab is not available to browse when you go to add songs to a playlist. This may seem like a small problem but in reality it is a huge hassle for me and I assume any other users of iTunes Match or people with large music libraries. I have not made a playlist on my phone or updated an existing playlist since upgrading to iOS 7. Am I missing some way to add songs from other playlists?

Above the left side of the preview area it says Advanced mode. Click that and you can use everything in the graphics panel.

IOS Garageband: Is there any way of making songs longer than 320 bars? eg recordings unto one hour.

Previously I used a MacbookPro and GB to record lecture audio from a sound desk. The macbook sadly died and I have been trying to do the job with my iPad again using GB. I am able to record from the desk to the iPad but can't get past the 320 bar limit. I need to have a record time around 35 to 50 minutes.
Any suggestions?

The maximum song length in GarageBand on the iPad is 320 bars, the minimum tempo you can set is 40bpm, and there are 4 beats to the bar. 320x4/40 gives 32mins as the maximum length of an audio recording in GarageBand. (I haven't explored the impact of alternate time signatures.) To make it work in practice you need to set the section length to automatic and stop the iPad from sleeping. Since I have Exchange email on my iPad, Auto-Lock is mandatory and I have a choice between 2 or 5 mins sleep time. Touching the screen resets the timer. I have managed to record a full 32 mins of audio just to make sure that practice follows theory, but it is hardly practical.
If your primary requirement is to record an extended piece of audio I'm sure you can find another app more suited for the task. I use iTalk Recorder.

I want my maps back. And you tube. And to stream podcasts without an app. Basically there are improvements but I think apple is an arse for not letting us use the best product rather than what they say we have to ( stink apple maps - booooooooo).

Photos are meant to be uploaded to your computer for archival and storage. Certainly before doing something as major as a software update, you've done this, correct? In this case, your photos should be residing safely on your computer and you can just synch them back.

I'd love to know how to either submit this as a feature request to Apple, find out how to "fix" it myself, now, or discover how to get Apple to pay my unwanted text messaging costs...
I see, now that I've upgraded to ios 6, that my cell phone's number (I'm on an iPhone 4s) is tied to iMessage.
It would seem, then, that (because I cannot really count on Verizon's SMS block to work, all the time), this may cause me to start getting spam messages from people who are able to discover my phone # ?
Is there any way to NOT link my cell phone number to my iMessaging? It's NOT listed in my Apple ID profile, but it is entered and checked, on my phone, in iMessage settings.
Those who I want to iMessage me know my apple ID. Those are the only messages I want to receive.
In addition, Apple, please come up with a way for those of us who do not text (yes, we exist) and who have attempted to get our providers to block ALL (incoming AND outgoing) texts from our phones, to at least block outgoing SMS via your software.
If anyone has any workarounds for me, on this, I'd love to hear them.

You cannot stop iMessage from associating your number with your account. But, you do not have to use that number as your displayed ID on sent messages. Just setup an alternate email address under callerID and use that (I use my @me.com address as my Caller ID, since I really never use it for anything else anyway).
Note too, that any message sent to your phone number would go through your carriers SMS system anyway, unless specifically sent from another iOS devices. Most spam emails do not originalte from an iOS device, so iMessage really has little to do with actual spam texts (which are generally sent from computer servers using your [email protected] address anyway). Your carriers blocks should continue to catch those.
iMessages only work from an iOS device to another iOS device, which does not absolutely mean that there will never be spam iMessage texts, but I'd think they would be few and far between.

There are numerous reports of this issue happening on iPhones. It may be a glitch that will need a new update. Some find that a full shut-down and restart fixes that problem, but not always.
